Webdav integration in maxdb

Hi..,
i have installed the maxdb 7.6 software on a xp system. have created a db-instance and configure the webdav service in the web server administration.
But when i call the webdav gui: [localhost:9999/webdav?gui] i am getting this error message: 500 - Internal Server Error
Connect to database failed. Please contact your administrator.
I ve tryed a lot to fix it but couldn't help myself.
can anybody help me?

i have used a maxdb 7.6.18 and upgraded it to 7.6.34
and in the Dokumentation stands:
The MaxDB WebDAV Servlet is supplied with example configuration files for the Apache Tomcat, SAP NetWeaver AS and JBoss servlet containers. You can find these files in the following directory: servletswebdav.
On the mysqlwebsite i have downloaded the maxbd stands:
The packages do not contain Web SQL and Web DAV at the moment. The new Web SQL tool will become available soon. Meanwhile you can use the Web tools of Version 7.5.

But perhaps anbodz has got an idea , what i can do, when i want (must) use the 7.6

WebDAV Integration

I am trying to integrate my content management system to CMSDK, but am having the following problem
1. Windows Explorer is unable to view the CMSDK repository while it is displayed fine in Internet Explorer, although am connecting with the same user in both. the error message says: "Documents in this folder are not available, the folder may be moved or deleted".
2. I succeeded in adding documents to the CMSDK repository through my content management system client, but I need to know if the opposite is possible, meaning that is it possible to drag documents from my local file system to my web folder and detect the addition event so that the item is added to my own content management system too??

Maybe I don't get the question (and wouldn't consider myself an expert in this area), but why do you need WebDAV if you have CIS (and vice versa).
As I understand it, CIS (or RIDC) is a Java-based API that allows calling UCM services from external apps. Whilst WebDAV is a protocol supporting the access to the repository directly

WebDAV (Web-Based Distributed Authoring and Versioning) provides a way to remotely
author and manage your Oracle content using clients that support the WebDAV protocol.
For example, you can use Windows Explorer or Microsoft Office products to check in,
check out, and modify content in the Oracle repository rather than using Oracle’s web
browser interface. WebDAV can be used with Oracle Content Server.)
So, to my understanding, it's a sort of do the same with different means (of course, with CIS/RIDC you will most likely have more services, faster performance, etc.)

It is a hybrid system that can act either as a standard DBMS or as a memory-based application server extension. It runs on all important SAP applications and is bundled with SAP NetWeaver which means one-stop shopping for SAP customers .

WebDAV - weird issues

I've been testing WebDAV integration with Portal on both our Win2k and Solaris installs on 9.0.2.0.1. It works... almost. A couple of weird things happen, although not all of the problems I've managed to consistently reproduce. Anyway, another one for the Product team to investigate...
I've mapped from a Win2k client, web folders into a page group called PG_TEST1 and a page called PAGE1. These test pages are defined the same on both the Solaris and Win2k servers.
Issue 1: WebDAV folder cannot cope with special characters in file name (tested on Win2k)
I have a file that contains an ampersand in its title, i.e., 'Sales & Marketing info'. I copy the file from my C: drive to the mapped WebDAV folder (as PORTAL). It copies across. I refresh the WebDAV folder and the file appears as 'Sales'. In Portal (as PORTAL) the file only appears in the Layout and List view - but with the correct file name. I cannot see its properties if I do a Hide then a Show from the Layout view. I try to delete from WebDAV folder - This fails. I delete from Portal Layout view -ok.
Issue 2: items added by PORTAL user do/don't show randomly (tested on Win2k and Solaris).
I added a second file (Doctemplate.doc) as user PORTAL to my WebDAV folder. This appears ok in the WebDAV folder. I refresh the Portal page (as PORTAL). The file does not appear in either the view page mode or the Graphic edit mode (not even greyed out with a hidden tag). Can only view file in Layout/List modes. I log out and back in. No difference. I log out and in as user JHALL (has managed content privs for the page). This user can see the file in all modes. Click on properties link (edit link does not show)- has no options available despite having manage content privs on the page. In Layout mode, I check the file and click 'Show'. Log out and in as PORTAL. In Graphic and view page mode the file now appears. No edit link! Properties link has no options - even as PORTAL user! Added another document (GENERIC_SQL_BLD_STDS.DOC) as PORTAL to WebDAV - it appeared in page view mode but not graphic edit mode. Added a final document (CV_STYLE.DOC). It did not appear in either view mode or graphic edit mode! In layout mode I clicked on Show. It appears in Graphic mode without any action properties! It also seemed to suddenly show the GENERIC_SQL_BLD_STDS.DOC) file that was previously not showing in Graphic edit mode!
Issue 3: PORTAL user cannot view content added by other users automatically (tested on Solaris)
I copied a file as user JHALL (has Manage Content privs) to a WebDAV folder. Can see file in WebDAV ok. Logged into Portal as PORTAL user. View Page mode cannot see doc. Edit Graphic mode can! Document does not appear as 'hidden'. All document properties are available. Logged out. Typed in direct access URL for page (public). Can see file ok! Logged in as doc owner JHALL. Can view doc in all view/edit modes. Logged in as PORTAL. In graphic edit mode selected 'Hide' and then 'Show' for the doc. Document then viewable by PORTAL user in all modes.
A lot of these issues seem interdependent. Could somebody in the product team do some aggressive testing on WebDAV please. These issues are very weird, but they only seem to affect content where the PORTAL user has had some involvement. Not had chance to test version control yet.
Also, there are 'missing' functionality issues such as:
How do I determine which region an item will be added to on a page?
On a page with multiple regions the items always get added to one region, but there is no way to determine which one it will be.
How do I determine which Item type should be used?
The items always get added as Simple File. If I want File to be used (so that I can later add categories and perspectives), how do I do this?

The iTAR tool available on the web is a bug reporting system for tracking all the issues found by Oracle customers (bugs, fixes, patches, requests for improvements...). In your case, you found several bugs plus some requests for improvements: they should be entered in the iTAR system (I already entered some issues on WebDAV dealing with versioning).
About WebDAV itself, you should check the site http://www.webdav.org
For debugging purposes, I suggest you to try WebDAV Explorer (http://www.ics.uci.edu/~webdav/), it is an explorer like WebDAV navigator written in Java, that adopts the various RFCs and offers a good logging on performed actions.

WebDAV Issue [11g]

Ok so I know I asked this before, and the solution was informative. Yet upon learning the software our users will be using tight integration with Microsoft Office products is not needed. Just a simple network connection to webdev through a windows file browser is enough for what we need. Thing is we got that working but insted of showing framework folder it is showing contribution folder and I was wondering if it is possible to change where it is pointing at so it would show framework folder?

How are you trying to connect? with what webdav client? after winxp, it got really tricky to get windows' native explorer to function with webdav. I've always recommended people use the DIS explorer integration. if that wouldn't work, then I'd setup bitkinix for them as a service, which would override the windows native webdav integration into windows explorer. in short, I don't expect webdav to work in windows ootb w/o some third-party client.
Also, what version of WCC are you on? if it's 11.1.1.2 or 11.1.1.3, it may be before webdav was built into frameworkfolders. I don't think FF is currently supported with portal/spaces setups, but FF should be supported for EDMS-type (i.e., plain doc mgmt) configurations. I'd have to check the docs or verify with product mgmt on that. it's hard to keep track of these details version per version.

Ok, I admit, I'm not a professional java developer but....
STRUTS is a general web application development framework.
VELOCITY is a language for using templates to use java objects.
RUBY ON RAILS is also a language/framework for creating web applications.
None of them is specifically a database integration framework.
If you want an example for a application framework that works seamless with MaxDB and all other major databases - go for SAP NetWeaver
It has a lot to offer, a huge user/developer base, professional support, really is mission-critical-proof and you can download the developer version here in SDN as well.

hi fellow stellent users,
i have a question to ask about
this case study, that im trying to solve.
the case study is,
suppose a corporate named acme
then i create security groups (public, internal, sensitive, secret),
semantically a clearance level.
then i create hierarchical accounts based on acme's divisions:
acme/finance
acme/acct
acme/marketing
then i create this virtual folders (primarily used in webdav integration)
/finance: account: acme/finance
/acct: account: acme/acct
/marketing: account: acme/marketing
this seems ok, so all users in the finance dept
can only view/access/edit the /finance folder (and its contents)
but there are new requirements:
-suppose finance users want to create subfolder in the /finance
eg: /finance/shared
but they want to share this folder so that it can be accessible to
acct and marketing users.
so how can i do this ?
i already tried creating new account acme/finance/shared
assign that to the /finance/shared folder,
and adding that account to all users that need to access that folder
but, there seems a problem,
when i browse ucm with Windows Explorer (webdav) with a marketing user id.
i cant see the /finance/shared folder.
maybe because the parent /finance folder is hidden/not permissible to them (marketing guys).
but then, what is the workaround for this problem? can a user
create a folder that can be shared to other accounts ? with a parent
folder that is not shared.
what's the best practice in ucm to accomplish this scenario,
especially for working in windows/webdav environment.
is there any changes that i must make to my current security model ??

Sapan, Yes I understand that and I have read it also. The problem is we would rather take care of the ROLES within UCM, such that subadmins should be allowed to create roles etc with UCM who have no access to LDAP. Basically we would like to give access of role creation to a subadmin rather then set it up in LDAP, but at the same time we would like users to get authenticated via LDAP, because we want to use Single Sign On.
So basically the solution that I am looking for is following:
1) Users get Authenticated ONLY via LDAP. No group mappings or filtering needs to be done (Use Group Filtering/Use Full Group Names in LDAP provider are NOT checked)
2) Setup user's roles/groups within UCM by a Sub Admin.
Basically what I would like to do is that we can have several websites in our UCM and each website can have Subadmins who can give/remove permission for users that reside in UCM (External/Internal anyone). Moreover I would like to give subadmins only rights to there OWN Website and they should not be allowed to do any administration work for other websites that they are not sub admin for. Also, none of the users/subadmins can see any search results from any other website data that they do not have permission for.
This is a little complex requirement, first I do not know if UCM is capable of this, second I am a newbie with UCM, I have worked with Documentum in the past, so any suggestion is very welcome. Thanks!

True that gets the file into Dropbox, and yes you can use the dropbox app and open in app protocol all for free but that does mean you have to open two apps have the iPad do some manipulation with duplicate files copied.
What dropdav does is contain everything within Pages.
Your working in Pages and want to edit a document you know is in your Dropbox you simply tap on the + in the top left of the Pages document screen scroll to copy from Webdav and all your Dropbox files and folders show up right there WITHIN Pages thusly
Any compatilbe file is bold and can be opened DIRECTLY in PAGES edited and returned seemlessly with the copy to Webdav or yes the print to Dropbox (Both work)
The key is Webdav integration within Pages allows for external file transfer.

Query on integrating windows file server into SAP KM using WEBDAV

I have sucessfully integrated windows file server into SAP KM using WEBDAV. I have query in it regarding the possible validation against the portal Database user. Can we configure such that the user comparison happens for LDAP as well as database user. Have anyone configured such a scenario?

Hi Ganesh,
this should work in principle.
However you would need a user in Active Directory for each user in the portal database that should connect to the file server if you are using the SSO22KerbMap Module as I assume.
In my whitepaper I have mentioned this for the internal user index_service that does only exist in the portal database.

CFolders Windows Explorer integration via WebDAV

Hi Folks,
I am trying to use the cFolders windows explorer integration. The steps I have followed to set this up are as follows.
1. Transaction SICF - activated service default_host/sap/cpro
2. Transaction SICF - created an external alias "/cpr_webdav" with Trg Element set as "/default_host/sap/cpro"
3. Maintained the URL Part 1 field as "http://servername:8005/cpr_webdav" and cFolders active checked under the IMG Make settings for WebDAV interface.
4. Went into a collaboration and obtained the "WebDAV URL" for the collaboration "Supplier01Test". The generated URL was "http://servername:8005/cpr_webdav/cfx/cwn/Supplier01Folder~(col_100005)/"
5. Installed the SAP Netweaver Portal Drive and plugged this URL in there and it did not work. I also tried mapping a network drive from my network places.
Is there anything I have missed? I have gone through the SAP help and other discussion threads here, but could not make any progress. By the way, I am working with cFolders 4.5.

We followed as per the steps and maintained the URL in spro settings as
http://<hostname>:<port>/<sid>050-webdav
<sid>050-webdav - Ext. alias created with trg. element /sap/bc/cpro/
The below URL is not accepted during the mapping of network drive.
http://<hostname>:<port>/<sid>050-webdav/cfx/cwn/Folder~(fol_100002)/
Please help us to resolve this issue.

WebDav Repository - MS Sharepoint Integration

I'm trying to apply the things I read in the article "Interoperability between SAP Enterprise Portal 6.0 and Windows SharePoint Services" (https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/servlet/prt/portal/prtroot/docs/library/uuid/9e891378-0601-0010-5386-a3387f1b161b).
It's about configuring WebDav repositories to access HTTP Systems. I'm trying to acces documents stored in MS Sharepoint.
I'm having a problem with security.
The IViews I use to access the WebDav repository I defined are working well and showing the content stored in MS Sharepoint.
My problem is that those IViews are showing the info with the privileges granted to the user I've used to define the HTTP System.
In that config screen, there's a checkbox that says "Same user domain". Its hint says that if it is checked, the credentials of the logged user would be forwarded to the http server, but this is not happening.
I'm logging on to SAP Portal with an user that has no permissions in Sharepoint and i'm still seeing the documents and I can even upload new documents.
Can anybody help me?

the WSS WebDAV Connector (aka "SharePoint WebDAV Connector, SWC) was released some days ago and a new Interoperability Section on Microsoft-sap.com is now live.

In the SWC documentation there are some hints for the configuration of the security requirements / authentication types which should be helpful for your problem.

Problem while integrating windows file server into SAP KM using WEBDAV

I am trying to integrate windows file server into SAP KM using WEBDAV . I have downloaded the kerberos ini filter and included in the windows system. I am only trying to bring the files in the same system into KM but with no luck. When i check the log file in the kerberos folder i am getting

In the log i am getting the following

                       Please check the SPN by calling 'setspn -l IDBSRV8'.

Hi Ganesh,
this error message tells you that there is no user in your active directory that has the userPrincipalName xxxx.
The SSO22KerbMapModule works as follows.
1. It receives a SAP Logon Ticket from the WebDAV request.
2. If valid the SAP username is extracted. In your case the SAP username is xxxx.
3. It then searches for a user in AD. It does so using the attribute in the ini-file that has been specified to contain the SAP username. In your case the SAP username should be identical with the userPrincipalName.
So you have to make sure that the portal user id (j_user) is mapped to the same AD user attribute that is specified in the ini-file .

Hi, When i try to open a document that is available in a SharePoint portal using MS Word, after open it ask me Check-out button as shown below.
Am very new to SharePoint but i have knowledge on c#..
1. How to show the same behavior when a file is opened from webDAV folder.
2. This check-out button is the behavior of word or SharePoint is doing this.

The Word object model doesn't provide anything for that. This is a feature of SharePoint. See
Configure a site library to require check-out of files for more information.
