WEBI 4.1 Breaks

Hello All,
Can we conditionally hide break footers (subtotals ) in a WEBI Report ? Lets say if the value of the dimension is a specific value then hide. ??

We don't have a direct option in manage Break for this. But you can create a rule to change the Text Color to white for a specific value of the dimension.
Analysis Tab -> Conditional -> New Rule
Then apply that Rule only for the Break Footer.
Select the Footer -> Analysis Tab -> Conditional -> Formatting Rules.

Using liquid on web detail layout breaks template

I am using an if logic tag to hide text if a web field is empty in the web detail layout but it breaks the template - none of my content holders in the page template are rendering.
The actual if tag is doing its job and hiding the text.
If I render the webapp to a normal html page with the if logic tag, the template does not break.
I read somewhere in the documentation that all the tags must be rendered in liquid.
Is it not possible at this stage to add liquid to the web detail layout?

It will not be a bug because liquid works in detail layouts and everywhere just fine.
Can you post the code as it is likely you have an error.
You DO NOT need to do all liquid - Please ensure your not reading old documentation about the old liquid, what we have now and what was done previously are quite different.

Export to Excel via web query (page breaks on every column?)

The problem that I'm having is when a query is sent out via the reporting agent or whenever I export a web query to excel there are page breaks put on every column of the query. This becomes quite cumbersome whenever an end user or myself wants to print out a query.
I have already transported the packages included in the "How to Enhance Web Printing" and tested much of the functionality in BWD with no success.
Can anyone shed some light on how to adjust the page breaks or format when exporting a web query to excel or when sending a query out via the reporting agent?

Using sum on webi report when breaks applied

Hello All,
I have a situation here and would like to get your help. I am using BO R2. I am working on a webi report where I have to apply breaks at different levels (to be precise, I applied at 4 columns on this report). I applied breaks and the results are looking good so far as the main table is sliced to many small tables based on the breaks. But, here comes the issue..
My report contains text as well as numerical columns. I have to do two types of calculations on these numerical columns.
1) When certain condition meets, like here I am working on when the data is from few particular projects, only their numrical columns should sum up and give the results. For example, after applying breaks, say my 200 rows table is sliced to many small tables and I am looking at one particular table that has 10 rows. As per my requirement, I have to pick the values of only 5 rows from this table (as the 5 projects I want are in this table), sum them up and display the results at the end of that table(Only for this table). The problem I am seeing here is, when I add a new row under the table, it is being added to all other sliced tables (which is because of break applied). But, I have to work on data only from one of the tables and that too on limited columns from that table. I do not want to touch other tables. Is this acheivable? Please let me know.
2) This issue is almost similar to the above one. I have three conditions like above to be applied on three different tables which pick only few rows of data and should sum them up. At the end, I need a brand new column all the way at the end of the report that totals up the numbers from only the above conditions' results(results from the 3 condition on 3 different tables).
Not sure if this can be done in webi R2 version. But, if it could be, then please let me know the way to do it. Also, let me know if my question is not clear.

There seem to be several issues, one being more complex meaning "conditions" applied in the Block within breaks may be difficult to build in a Grand Total Row.
You can create an empty row to use with your Block at the bottom (in fact, once that is created you can create as many as you wish).
1) Remove all Breaks
2) Inset a Sum of one of the Metrics in the Block (doesn't have to make sense)
The inserted sum will create a row at the bottom of the Block. Make sure the new row with the sum does not have any Dimensions you want to Break on in it (it should not).
You can now create your formulas or variables for your Grand totals in that row and it will remain affixed to the table at the bottom. Apply your Breaks as you wish.
You can insert rows above or below that Brand Total row any time now. It is outside the breaks but is a part of the table and very flexible as to use.

Is it possible to convert inDesign files to jpeg (for web) without fonts breaking up?

We want to include some of our layouts as case studies on our website. The idea is that a preview image will, on rollover, produce a larger version of the image/layout as part of a case study - full size image dimensions from, say, 400px x 300px. However, using the export command (CS3) produces poor quality text even at 'Maximum' at 300ppi - to say nothing of the unacceptable file size! Site to be constructed in Flash. Any ideas?? Thanks. My apologies if I sounded harsh. I didn't mean to be.
I just wish the world would recognize that there is no such thing as "screen resolution" or "web resolution" in the sense that 72 ppi is an "appropriate" number. When you "save for the web" in Photoshop you are doing any number of things, including downsampling to reduce the number of pixels in the image, and adding compression to make the files smaller still so they will load faster, both of which can make your image useless for print purposes.
That the default might be to save at 72 ppi is irrelevant -- it's just a convenient number. If you open your freshly saved image in Photoshop and go to the Image Size dialog, uncheck "resample image" and change the resolution, you'll see that the file size and pixel counts remain unchanged (along with the screen dispaly in Photoshop), because the image data is unchanged. All you have done is say "If you choose to print this image at 100% size, it should be x units wide and y units tall, and should have (whatever the the value you used) pixels per unit." You can freely scale this, if you wish, knowing the "effective" resolution varies in reverse proportion to the scaling factor.
If you put this image on the web, it will have whatever pixels were saved, regardless of how large or small (in print) those pixels would be rendered.

Having trouble getting web addresses to break in footnotes. Any suggestions?

I'm doing a book that refers to multiple blog pages throughout. In the footnotes, where the blog addresses are given, InDesign is really spacing out the lines and breaking too soon, especially after slashes followed by words with hyphens between them. It's quite obvious that one or two of the words, with their hyphens, would fit on the line above. I've tried adding space bars after hyphens but it won't force the words preceding my entered space up. I've tried using discretionary hyphens in places, and that didn't work either. The only way I can do it is to put soft returns in and I'm not sure I like the idea of that. Any suggestions?

Try setting the paragraph style for the footnotes to use one of the Single Line composers instead of the Paragraph Composer, and add your discretionary breaks where you'd like them to happen.

Break Point is not working on Web UI

Hi guys,
i have a problem with Break Points in combination with the Web UI:
After setting a Break Point in a Function Modul or Method and starting and working with the Web UI the Break Point will not reached. So the Debugger does not open. When i activate the Debugging with the Transaction Code SICF the Break Point is working normaly and the Debugger opens. But ater 30 min the Break Point will not work again. After activating the Debugger over SICF again very thing is ok. Thus i have to activate the Debugger with SICF 10 times per day.
Could somebody tell me how to fix this Problem? I would like to activate Debugging permanently.

Try this..
Activate breakpoints for http debugging..go inside component workbench trxn for any bsp component.. And select activate from the menu option debugging.. This will activate http breakpoints and it will stop in get/setter etc.
i believe this is required to do only once when you login to the system..

WEBi 3.1 SP2 BI Services - New feature

1) BI Services available only in Rich Client.
    Question: Why its not available in WEBi ?
2) Step(a) - Import existing WEBi report with break.
    Step(b) - Publish a block in WEBi Rich Client.
    Step(c) - Used published report block in another WEBi Rich Client report.
   Impact: by using BI Services, the data order is not rendered properly the way it was fomatted in WEBI.

The accesible option was designed for people with disabilities who may use screen readers or other devices to interpet what is being shown on the report. As such, it probably won't pick up the default formatting properties from the XML file as the colour of the box wouldn't matter much if it's content was being read through a screen reader.

What I understood is like :
You have two queries and both gives same results but one of the query having a parameter.
You have one report which is using query1. Now you want that report to be copied as Report2 and use Query2 instead of Query1.
If the this is the issue, then you copy Report1 as Report2 and go in Database and change the Data source location to Query2.
Hope this will help you. If my understanding is wrong then give us the work flow.

Web-part issue after migrating from 2010 to 2013

Correct me if I am posting this question in the wrong section.
The background is: Migrating and Upgrading SP2010 to SP2013. I did it, and alot of it works, as it should, though I have one issue.
I did deploy all the solutions to both the 14 and 15 hive, and activated all the propper features. Now, I have one web-part which breaks down. It is a Web-part that communicate with a SAP endpoint, to retrive some data and show dem. The Web-part work fine in
the 2010 environment.
As soon as I enter the site where the Web-part is placed in, I am being redirected to the "Maintanence Web-part, error message". If I delete the Web-part I can access the site with no errors. The code works fine in 2010.

No, I did not migrate the content from 2010 web-config to the 2013 server. This is something I will take a look at, to see if there are some missing points in the config-file of 2013.
And just to be sure, when we are talking about the config file, it is the one who is associated with the Web-applikation? So, IIS --> WebApp --> Explorer --> and that web.config?

Report page break not correct in browser

Hi all
I have 150+ reports that I am converting from 6i to 10g. These repors print correctly in 6i (client SErver) with page break at proper places. When I run the same report on web, the page breaks in the reports are converted to lines in the html output. Also the page headers appearin the middle of the page. Page break seems to be controlled by the browser and not by report. How do I make the report page break the same way as in 6i.
any help is appreciated. We are in the middle of testing and the users will not sign off until this is resolved.

This will resolve the Page Break issue.
Unfortunately, printing reports from browser will generate a blank last page.
Perhaps the command line parm BLANKPAGES=NO will work for you...
I am told it does not work because printing is a browser issue not a reports issue...

Web-Enabling Forte apps.

Hi everybody,
I want to ask the Forte community some suggestions.
My company has extensively developed a retirement application using FORTE
Application Environment (version 3.G). At this point following the market
trend, our clients are interested in enabling the application on the
Internet allowing users to remotely use the application. The application
has been developed using FORTE Enterprise (3.0G) but it has not been
designed and built with the intention to be on a web page (especially the
windows). With this in mind , here are my questions:
1] Does anyone had occurred in similar issues? What strategy do you suggest
to integrate existing FORTE application with Web capability?
2] Could FORTE Web Enterprise be the solution? If so, how do you find that
it seamlessly integrate with application written with FORTE Enterprise?
You help is very much appreciated because here we are quite confused on the
possibility and feasibility of this.

I think you will find that applications with complex UIs (e.g. rich
business content, lots of "dialog-y"
interactions, lots of steps in a "transaction" will have to be
substantially revised.
Have you ever purchased an itinerary from one of the web-based travel
companies? If you go through
the motions, I think you will find that it is a quite different UI than one
that you might come up with
in a native windows or forte client environment. The reason is that the
overall transaction is business data rich (lots of kinds of business
objects with complex relationships) and involves lots of decisions,
lookups, validations, etc. And to do this effectively on the web, one must
break down the transaction into many more, smaller steps.
The other posting is correct - do not lean too heavily on the
"auto-generation" of forms from forte windows.
It is also a correct statement that the most reuse you will achive will be
in the middle and back tiers, and potentially business objects. Consider
most UI code (e.g. anything that relies on Display project) as useless,
or at least unleverageable for building a web UI. To the degree that the
service layers need to change to support a different workflow, then there
will be impacts there, too.
Lots of other things change as well - iteration cycles, project structure,
methodology & skill sets. You will find that managing the development
environment, managing code & transitions to test & production cycles more
difficult, since WebEnterprise doesn't really address these capabilities.
As you are a consulting company, you also have the issue of "educating"
your customer - many having little or no web development experience may not
be able to articulate their needs or desires from a look and feel and UI
perspective, regardless of the toolset.
WebEnterprise/Forte is a great combination for web development - none of
the above should be taken to suggest that it is deficient or difficult or
whatever. There are lots of successful projects out there.

Project Pro 2013 client Deployment with Lync 2010 and Team Explorer Excel Issues Following

Current machines are Office 2010 SP1 or SP2 32-bit
Just deployed Project 2013 Pro and Std to the existing machines that had Project 2010 Pro or Std. We selected the full install since people use integration into different tools.
Results:
lync 2010 64-bit when attending a meeting prompted user to start using and download the Lync Web Component, which breaks features such as muting, etc.
A repair sent to the workstations for Lync 2010 64-bit fixed that.
Team Explorer 2012 Export to excel from queries gives error Unable to cast COM object of type 'Microsoft.Office.Interop.Excel.ApplicationClass' to interface type 'Microsoft.Office.Interop.Excel._Application'. This operation failed because
the QueryInterface call on the COM component for the interface with IID '{000208D5-0000-0000-C000-000000000046}' failed due to the following error: The interface is unknown. (Exception from HRESULT: 0x800706B5).
Repair of Team Explorer, Office, Test Manager 2012, etc did not assist. if we go into excel and connect to TFS, we can then retrieve the query data. Just not from TFS exporting to excel. Had to unload Project 2013, repair Office 2010
and rebooted with project off the machine and now it works. It seems maybe the setup with the shared features and Office tools are breaking something? We need the ability for VBA and .net functionality, but what could be breaking this?

Your environment will support 32 bit of Project professional 2013 (x86) as you have Windows and Office of (X86).
You try to modify registry then you wont face issue.
The issue when you hit a "1653" is that Windows
Installer "DisableRollback" is set. Office 2013 requires that "rollback" be enabled. If you are getting a "1653"
error in your logs as Ken did then the solution is to delete the "DisableRollback" (or set to '0') at the following registry keys:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\Installer
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\Installer
these are the issues I've seen:
Scheduler service was stopped. At a cmd window typing "net start schedule" resolves the problem.
CMD.exe was customized via the following registry key. Solution was to temporarily disable the customization by changing autorun value to autorun_old.
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Command Processor
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Microsoft\Command Processor
Permission issues - seems some custom permissions affected Ingram's install which he explained in his previous post.
Environment variable "ComSpec" had been modified (semicolon added). Fix was to remove the added semicolon (there should be no semicolon).
The way to identify you are hitting this specific issue is if in the %temp%\OfficeSetup.log there is a mention of "Office64MUI.msi" failing to install with return value of 1603
If you want to enable verbose logging via the following key, rerun your failed install, and collect all the setup and MSI* logs that will give more information.

Hf901-00001 won't install at all on some instances.

We have multiple servers with CF 9.0.1 installed, all with the multiple servers configuration and all with multiple instances.
Yesterday I started patching to hf901-00001 (http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/890/cpsid_89094.html). It worked properly on 30 some instances over 4 servers but for a few instances on one server it just won't install.
The server in question has 7 instances + 1 main cfusion instance. The patching worked fine for 4 of them, but with the others it blew up the CF admin and I had to restore my CFIDE from a backup.
Right now I am trying to get cfusion up-to-date here's what I see.
Server Product: ColdFusion
Version: 9,0,1,274733
Edition: Enterprise
Serial Number ******
Operating System: Windows 2003 OS Version 5.2
Adobe Driver Version: 4.0 (Build 0005)
JVM Details Java Version: 1.6.0_17
Java Vendor: Sun Microsystems Inc.
When I try to update with the hf901-00001.jar file, everything seems to work as it should. I get the "For the hotfix to get applied, you must restart the ColdFusion Service." so I restart Macromedia JRun CFusion Server and it starts up fine.
However when I go back to the CFAdmin I still see
Version 9,0,1,274733.
I don't see Update Level /C:/JRun4/servers/CF_Academic2a/cfusion.ear/cfusion.war/WEB-INF/cfusion/lib/updates/hf901 -00001.jar
So I assume that patch isn't going through. If I look in C:\JRun4\servers\cfusion\cfusion-ear\cfusion-war\WEB-INF\cfusion\lib\updates\ I can see the hf901-00001.jar files though. At this point if I proceed with the rest of the patching (Copying CFIDE, WEB-INF, etc) the CFAdmin starts throwing error --- class def not found on some critical CF parts.
As anyone else had issue with this patch or have any suggestion as what to try next? Any pointers would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks for the reply, ok going to double check everything point by point. Going to use my main cfusion instance for my testing.
Before patching:
My CFIDE is mapped to C:\inetpub\wwwroot\CFIDE (from the mapping section)
C:\JRun4\servers\cfusion\cfusion-ear\cfusion-war\WEB-INF\cfusion\lib\updates has only one file empty.txt
ColdFusion version is 9,0,1,27473 from the CF administrator information section.
Version confirmed by dumping server.coldfusion.productversion (9,0,1,27473)
Patching process:
Using hf901-00001.jar from update (http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/890/cpsid_89094.html#main_ColdFusion_9_0_1)
Successful, I get "For the hotfix to get applied, you must restart the ColdFusion Service"
Restarting "Macromedia JRun CFusion Server"
C:\JRun4\servers\cfusion\cfusion-ear\cfusion-war\WEB-INF\cfusion\lib\updates\ now has 2 files, empty.txt and hf901-00001.jar
Checking log for the restart in C:\JRun4\logs\cfusion-out.log, everything start up as it should but there's an error. No details though, see dump below.

At this point if I continue with the manual steps and copy the file in CFIDE and WEB-INF it break the instance and I can't access it without restoring from a backup. (ClassDefNotFound errors). So the jar isn't being applied for some reason, the log is quiet as to why it's rejecting the file or think it's invalid. It's the same file used to patch the other instances. I suspected a corrupted jar and redownloaded it, same result for those 4 instances only after I patched another production server, our development, acceptance and lab servers the same way.
One thing that I noticed, the one that did patch correctly have chf9000001.jar in their /lib/updates directory which is hotfix1 for CF 9.0.0. I am under CF 9.0.1 so it shouldn't be required right? Not sure why it's missing from the cfusion instance.
I tried copying chf9000001.jar and restarted and it shows up as my update level in CFAdmin. I still get the invalid file error for hf901-00001.jar though.
I never installed Cumulative Hotfix 1 (CHF1) for ColdFusion 9.0.1 (http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/862/cpsid_86263.html) as Adobe only recommend it if you experience one or more of the issue listed.
Other points I checked following your post:
1) neo-runtime.xml does have <var name='/CFIDE'><string>C:\inetpub\wwwroot\CFIDE</string></var> so as far as I can tell I am using the correct /CFIDE
2) You say "Or are you using the external web server (IIS or Apache)? If trying one, what happens if you try the other?"
I am using IIS default website to access it (it's currently bound to port 8080). How do I try the other? In JRun Launcher I see my Web port as 8300 for cfusion but if I go to http://localhost:8300/ I get a blank site (it just shows Index of /)
The only thing I have to go on is that the jar isn't loaded as per the log, but there is no error or anything so I am kind of at a lost as to what I can try next.

"Better" is a relative term.
It all depends on your use of Windows. If you need it to run a legacy Windows application and will not be surfing the web or downloading things from the web, I'd use the old copy of XP. If you think you'll be installing newer applications in the future or if you will be on the web, I'd break down and buy Windows 7.
