Webi 4.1 on relational universe on HANA - old prompt values not cleared

Hi,
We are having a problem with a Webi report built on a relational universe (.unx). IDT is vers 4.1 sp 2, Webi is 4.1 sp3.
The HANA View has optional date prompts. It works with a year/month range, or defaults if the prompts are empty
When the business layer was created in IDT the HANA View was run and certain prompts were entered
Now when previewing the data in IDT or opening the report in Webi, the prompts are always initially set to the original values when it was run in IDT (which are not the current defaults in HANA).
We have tried from the Webi perspective Data Access -> Purge -> Purge All (with the clear last selected prompts option selected), but the prompts come back. We have also tried rerunning in IDT with blank parameters, but the keep coming back there (that is the original values)
Any ideas on how to remove the prompts? We don't want the users to have to keep adding in prompts when they run the report (as there are a few HANA views included, each with their own prompts). It also prevents scheduling.
Thanks,
Ken

Hi Ken Palmer-Jones
Reading that document about variables on HANA, my suggestion would be to acquire control on those variables and parameters at the universe level, by building a derived table in the universe using this syntax
SELECT [Columns]
FROM <view> ('PLACEHOLDER' = ('$$<parameter_name>$$', <parameter value>))
WHERE <attribute name> = <filter value>
Input parameters defined in HANA are the ones in the FROM part of the statement and the variables comes in the WHERE part.
By using directly the table in IDT you don't see these prompts and can't modify them either.
So, if you build a derived table in the universe (foundation layer) with the syntax above and use that derived table for the universe you will get control over the parameters. Replace <parameter value> with a @prompt(prompt_name) statement where prompt_name is a prompt created in the universe with properties you can modify like 'keep last values' (this is the parameter that would do the trick of clearing those values out of the prompt). Make sure that option is not checked and it should work.
Also, by getting control on the prompts you should also be able to match the names of the prompts so they can be merged in webi when you use more than one universe, otherwise you'll get several prompts that mean the same but with different names.
Hope this helps.

Christian

  • Setting a Prompt value for KeyDate in WebI on SAP OLAP universe

I have a webi report which has as its dataprovider a query against an SAP olap universe against a BEx query which has the KeyDate parameter exposed.
Iu2019d like to get at this prompt from the SDK.
In infoview if I run the report it pulls up the keydate prompt (a special dialogue which seems to be implemented as part of the connection definition) - this prior to pulling up the full prompts dialogue and showing all universe based @prompt filters.  In WebI I can see the prompt value entered using =UserResponse("dp.kd.value") .   So it does seem to see the keydate as a prompt of some sorts.
I've got a little jsp that allows me to set prompts very nicely (and packeaged as a jar in the CMC that schedules ok as well) but when I put it against a report with a key date u201Cpromptu201D it just wonu2019t see it.  When I call a getCount() as below it returns 0.
    oDocumentInstance.getDataProviders().generateQueries();
    Prompts oPrompts = oDocumentInstance.getPrompts();
    out.print(oPrompts.getCount());
This is all in an attempt to get around the scheduler limitations of key date which would give me two queries, two universes and two reportsu2026 one report for scheduling (using a customer exit to set key date) and a second for user refresh  (with a prompted key date)  which would all be rather messey to say the least!
So any cunning ideas on how I can get hold of this key date thingymebob in the SDK?
(ps. "Fixed in V4" would be nice to hear as an aside to thisu2026 In playing with the ramp up Iu2019ve got the same issues however so Iu2019m not to hopefull )
    Thanks!
    Jeremy.

    Hi,
First I think you have to create a support ticket because normally the object in the universe must be generated with data data type nad it is not the case.
We are awere of some limitations with data types.
Secondly, if you want to have users entering date you have to specify date in the prompt data type like this:
    <OPTIONAL><FILTER KEY="[PERIOD SD].[DB Full Date].[DB Full Date]"><CONDITION OPERATORCONDITION="Equal"><CONSTANT CAPTION="@Prompt('Enter Date ','D',,mono,free)"></CONSTANT></CONDITION></FILTER></OPTIONAL>

  • Logon failed when trying to connect to a SAP BW related universe

    Hi,
when I try to connect to my SAP BW related universe, I simply get the error message "Logon failed".
I have the SAP integration kit for BO. Furthermore I have set the connection appropriate to OSS note 1182409.
Nevertheless I get this error message.
The universe and the connection settings to SAP BW themselves are working correctly.
So e. g. I can set up a connection to my universe from the WebIntelligence tool.
Do you have any idea to solve this problem?
    Best Regards,

    Hi Ingo,
I do not get any error while using the Universe Designer, I get this error when trying to connect a SAP BW related universe in Crystal Reports. There is no problem at all with WebIntelligence by the way. It is possible to connect a SAP BW related universe in WebIntelligence.
I use BO XI 3.0 with Crystal Reports 2008 and the SAP Integrations Kit client components are installed on the client machine.
Nevertheless the BO Enterprise system is not configured with SAP Authentification, but with an own authentification.

  • WEBI Time format when using Universe

    Hi,
I have a WEBI report built on a universe that uses a BW query as a datasource.
In my BW report I have two time key figures of type DEC.
Actual Time and Scheduled Time in format HH:MM:SS or -HH:MM:SS if it is a negative value. It works well in Bex.
There is a Universe report built on top of this report and my WEBI report is built on the universe.
When I run the WEBI report the time key figures display in the format 10,000 instead of 01:00:00. It is obviously doing some type of internal conversion and outputting the wrong result.
Is there a way to convert the field in BO so that it outputs the same as Bw format?
I have tried changing the universe format properties of the field from Number to Character and back again but it does not give me any different result and in some cases it displays as #DataType.
    Any suggestions welcome.
    BO Version 3.1
    BW Version 7.01

    Hi
you can able to change Actual Time and Scheduled Time according to your requirement using create custom display format in the Business layer.

  • Repointing webi reports to a different universe

    Hi,
I need to clone a set of webi reports (~35 of them) along with the 1 universe they all use for the purpose of migrating only a set of users with a newer version of the universe and reports. The remaining users need to be using the old universe and the old reports for a few months. I have an easy way to control access to the reports/universe via permissions so that's not a big deal, but the biggest unknown for me is once I copy the universe (or save as) and the reports, how do I repoint the cloned reports to reference the cloned universe?
I am on XIR2 and migrating "in place" (not to a new repository).
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi -
While universe re-mapping isn't completely trivial, the API that supports it is thorough enough.  You'll just have to maneuver your way through the work flow a bit and be cautious of the various ways in which it works (eg. change object source by dsobjID, dso class path, etc)
For example  - from ReportEngine SDK documentation on the DataProviders.changeUniverse(...) method:
Changes old universe by the new one in the document. It means that all occurrences of a data source object will be replaced by another one of new universe. When applyMapping is true, this call provides a ChangeUniverseMapping containing all old data source object to be replaced with a possible new data source object default mapping. This mapping needs to be validated (so mustFillChangeUniverseMapping() will return true). After that, possibly DocumentInstance.getMustFillContexts() will return true, indicating at least a context must be resolved.
You'll first want to understand the platform SDK and how to manage objects within the Enterprise:
    http://help.sap.com/businessobject/product_guides/boexir31/en/boesdk_java_dg_12_en.zip
Then dig deeper into the specifics of ReportEngine API (known as REBEAN sometimes)

  • The Group Policy Client service failed the sign-in The universal unique identifier (UUID) type is not supported

    Hi guys,
we created a custom WIM Image (Windows 8 Enterprise) with MDT 2012.
Sysprept the Image, Deployed via SCCM 2012 SP1.
Computers are Domainjoined. Error with standard Domain User.
On some computers (not every computer) and not with every user on the first logon following error message arises:
The Group Policy Client service failed the sign-in The universal unique identifier (UUID) type is not supported
It works, when you log in a second time but this error isn't very nice.
Is there a solution for that?
    Kind Regards

    Hi,
The service is responsible for applying settings configured by administrators for the computer and users through the Group Policy component. This issue can be caused by various reasons based on the computer environment.
Can you find any information in event log about this issue?
Here is the related blog in which the steps can solve most of such issues if the issue continuously happen.

  • Need to clear last selected prompt values while refreshing webi report

While using ALL within cascading prompts its  still showing the last prompt values selected  in infoview and not while editing and trying to run webi reports.
Is there any way to clear this?
I have implemented following options to resolve but did not work
    1) Delete the .lov files of universe.
    2) Delete the contents in data folder by going into storage directory
    3) Implemented the non_persistent concept in prompts
Code is as follows for the filter with in universe
    @Select(Customised LOV\State) = @Prompt('Select State','A','Customised LOV\State',mono,free,Not_Persistent,,)
    or
    'ALL' = @Prompt('Select State','A','Customised LOV\State',mono,free,Not_Persistent,,)

    Hi,
In Web Intelligence, the Query Filter Condition consists of 3 parts:
    - Object on which condition is applied
    - Operator (=,<,>,matches pattern, etc)
    - Operands (constant, LIst of Values, etc)
You will find a button with a "?" sign which is also called as Prompt properties. When you click on this button, a new window will open and in this you have an option for "Keep last values selected" which is checked by default.
Uncheck this check box --> Click OK. Run the report and save --> Relaunch InfoView to avoid any caching problems.
    Hope this works for you

  • Default prompt values in webI report???

I am using BO XI 3.1 on BW universe, I have a prompt A in the prompt window which has many Lov's but user will freequently use only three values out of it.
So I want to make those three values to be default for that promp A when ever the report gets refreshed, so that it will be easy for user not to search in the big list for those 3 values.
    Any inputs please.
    Thanks,

    Hi,
You can make some values as default prompt values by webi report.
    1) Open the webi report.
    2) Edit the query then go to the prompt
    3) Go to the prompt properties checked the chekcbox "Set default values" and type the three values and ok.
So next time user refresh the report all three values come in the filter  default. They can remove or add more values in the list.but every time all values come in the filter.
    Thanks,
    Amit

  • WebI showing random value from give prompt value

    Dear All,
I have made an universe on top of SAP BW Query.
I have designed webI report on top of that. In that I have "Fiscal Year.Period" as Interval Prompt in WebI not in BW Query and I can't put prompt in BW Query because based on same universe i have other report as well.
I have user cross-tab in Report and in column section I have "Fiscal Year.period".
Now the issue is, when I refresh document, it is asking me to enter From & To Period. I am giving input as example 001.2010 to 012.2010 then it should show me values between 001.2010 to 012.2010 only but instead it is giving me values for 2011, 2007 year as well.
Does anyone have idea why it is happening ?
As per my analysis, during prompt value LOV is by default sorted in Asscending order :
    1)V3/001.2010
    2)V3/001.2011
    etc.
I really appreciate your quick input on this.

  • Passing a Prompt value to Webi using Xcelsius with OpenDocument

    -Operating System: Windows XP
-OS Patch level: Service Pack 3
    -Office Version: 2007
    -Flash Player version: 10
-Xcelsius Version and Patch Level: Enterprise 2008 with SP2 (version: 5.2.0.0)
-Xcelsius Build number (Help>About Xcelsius): 12,2,0,608
-Business Objects Enterprise version/patch level (if applicable): Edge 3.1
    -Issue Description:
I'm trying to open a Webi Document from my Xcelsius dashboard and pass the value for the prompt "Region".  Ultimately I want to have this value determined by the drill down from a chart but at the moment I cannot get it to work even by adding the value at the end of the URL.  The webi report opens but the user is given the prompt option and asked to select the value, where I want to pass this so it automatically shows the selected region.
The URL I'm currently using is:
    http://"servername":8081/OpenDocument/opendoc/openDocument.jsp?sType=wid&sRefresh=Y&sDocName=Regional_Drilldown&mode=full&nbPrompts=1&lsSRegion=South
I have double checked the report and the prompt is definitely called "Region" and "South" is a valid region.
I would be very grateful for some help.
    Many thanks
    Robert Peters

    Hi Robert
I would take out the reference to the number of prompts to give:
    http://"servername":8081/OpenDocument/opendoc/openDocument.jsp?sType=wid&sRefresh=Y&sDocName=Regional_Drilldown&mode=full&IsSRegion=South
If you copy and paste the url into a browser does it sucessfully find the document?

  • Can we generate one report tab for each of the prompt values selected in the bobj 4.0 webi report.

can we generate one report tab which filters
with each prompt value selected in bobj 4.0 webi report.

    Hi Shrinidhi ,
It can be achievable with static tabs created for each LOV .But this is not recommended because , object values can change dynamically .
It is good idea to use section on prompt object in the report .With sections great feature available is in larger report it’s easy to navigate using map. It displays the section tree. You can select the particular LOV to navigate.

It is possible that your anti-virus software is corrupting the downloaded files or otherwise interfering with downloading files by Firefox.<br />
You can try to disable the real-time (live) scanning of files in your anti-virus software temporarily to see if that makes downloading work.
