WEBI prompts and Filtering

Hi all,
I am new to BO and I am working in BO XI R3.
I have to create a WEBI report which will have two prompts.
1.first prompt is based on AMOUNT column in my report eg: Amount(LOV): $55000
2.second prompt is not based on any column in the report or universe. but it should accept the value from the user eg: Range value: $3500
The result should show all the rows that are having Amount>= $51500 (i.e $55000-3500) and Amount<=$58500 (i.e $55000+3500)
Can any one suggest what steps I need to follow in webI or designer to get this type of results.
Thanks!

Thanks for your reply
I tried these steps.
1. I created an object Named "Range Value" and put @Prompt('Enter value','N',mono,free,not_persistent,)  in where condition in the universe.
2. In webi report I dragged this "Range Value" object in the query filter panel and selected it as prompt and put prompt message as 'Enter value'.
3. After I run the query I am getting an error as "A database error occured. The database error text is: [Microsoft][ODBC SQL Server Driver][SQL Server]Statement(s) could not be prepared.. (WIS 10901)".
4. I tried to change the prompt message in query filter as 'Enter a range value' and run the query. this time it prompted me with 2 prompt messages
a.Enter value (the Prompt message which I gave it in the object in the universe):
b.Enter range value(the Prompt message which I gave it in the query filter panel):
5. when I entered same values in both the prompts again it was throwing me the same above error.
6. Later I tried to put 'Enter a range value' prompt as optional and then run the query. this time I entered value in only one prompt and it worked. BUT the problem is that it shows 2 prompt Messages.
7. I repeated same procedure to create another prompt "Enter Amount" and the same thing happen 2 prompt messages
a."Enter Amount"
b."Enter Amount value"
How can I avoid showing 2 prompt messages for one object?
I avoided that and created all below variables in the webI report
a.v Amount = ToNumber(UserResponse("Enter Amount"))
b.v Range = ToNumber(UserResponse("Enter value"))
c.v Max Amount = v Amount + v Range
d.v Min Amount = v Amount - v Range
now when I was trying to filter the report with Max Amount and Min Amount I am not able to select the variable in the WEBI filter panel. It only gives me LOV of that columns.
Where I am going wrong?
how can I avoid 2 prompt messages for one object and how to filter the amount with min and max values.
Can you please explain me more in detail.
thanks,

  • Webi report would NOT refresh even after setting prompts and refreshing document instance.

I am a .NET developer and a newbie to the world of BO I have just written a simple application in C# making use of the BO.NET Enterprise SDK and the ReportEngine.NET SDK to open a WEBI document and export it to Excel.  I have got the whole thing working - starting from establishing the EnterpriseSession, obtaining the reportEngine instance and also opneing the Webi document and exporting it to Excel.
The problem is the even after setting a different value for the prompts I ALWAYS get the same report  - for example if I set the Country prompt to India I always get the previous one that was set in the universe (Brazil).  These are not optional prompts and I do refresh the documentInstance after calling "SetPrompts"  Did anyone elase have the same problem with caching?.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.  Please find the snipped of the code attached.

The link is correct, however you need access to SAP Service Market Place (SMP), which you should have since you are using BOE / BI. If not, ask your BOE / BI administrator to set you up with logon to SMP.

  • BW-Query with hierarchy variable and webi-prompt

    Hi,
I think I've got a quite simple question.
I've got a SAP-BW-Query and a hierarchy variable, and some none hierarchy variables.
All Variables work in the webi-prompt.
For the none hierarchy variables I've got the chance to search for values in the LOV, but I can't search for
values in the hierarchies. Can I enable this function to search?
    Kind regards

    Hi
I post the error once again. I made an easier query and i saw that last time the forum did some strange things.
A database error occured. The database error text is: Die MDX-Abfrage
    SELECT { [Measures].[DC59N8GR349ETCCV3ZHIFFWGC] } ON COLUMNS
    FROM [ZTESTM01/Z_ZTESTM01_TEST5_VARIABLE]
    SAP VARIABLES [!V000002] INCLUDING [0FISCPER].[V62009001]
konnte nicht ausgeführt werden. Fehler Specify a value for variable
    MMEP_FISCPER. (WIS 10901)
The query runs perfect in RSRT.
    When i put the statement
    SELECT
    { [Measures].[DC59N8GR349ETCCV3ZHIFFWGC] } ON COLUMNS
    FROM [ZTESTM01/Z_ZTESTM01_TEST5_VARIABLE]
    SAP VARIABLES [!V000002] INCLUDING [0FISCPER].[V62009001]
in MDXTEST, it gives a result.

  • WEBI Prompt [Report Filter] Vs Query Filter

Universe : OLAP Universe on BW Query BI 7.0 SP 15
    Bobj xi-3.0
We have a BW variable for Plant on a webi report and if I use it the webi report runs in 10 seconds like BW query
We have a webi prompt for plant [used to drill down from another report] and when passed with the same plant key as above, the webi report runs in 160 seconds.
We are not able to use the BW variables a.k.a. yellow query filters for interactive webi reports and we are forced to use webi prompt filters. However, the performance hit is a huge concern.
Any ideas on improving performance for webi prompt filters?
    Thanks

    Hi,
If you have many dimensions and some of the are attributes in SAP BW try to convert those attributes in Dimension detail and then build a master data qry for those detals, delete from the data query the dimensions thata are details now and megre both queries.
    I hope this help you.

  • WEBI prompt based on bex variable suppress not assigned hashtag value in LOV

    Hi,
is it possible to suppress the "Not assigned (#)" value from the list of values in a webi prompt based on a bex variable?
This "Not assigned" value is something BW specific, BW adds this to each characteristic automatically?!
    WEBI:
    RSRT:
It needs to work in WEBI, not only in RSRT, and the filtering of data still needs to work.
For rsrt it works, when you exclude the not assigned value in "Filter > Characteristic Restrictions" and use the bex variable in/through "Filter > Default Values", but this does not work in WEBI, because the BEX Query Data is not filtered on the in the prompt selected value.
    Thanks.

Thanks David for a quick reply !
I could manage to avoid # values in WebI prompt using BAdI implementation, here is the brief:
    Problem:
WebI report prompt (which shows BEx variable) list of values shows blanks or # . Rrequirement was to avoid these blanks or #
    Environment:
    BW 7.3
    BO 4.0
BW Cube > BEx Query > OLAP Connection > WebI report
    Solution:
InfoObject Level1 in BW had # values in masterdata, this could not be deleted since it was in use with other Cubes.
Vaurable Var_Level1 displays # when pressed F4 running BEx query and in list of values in WebI report prompt.
I implemented BAdI on Level1 info object and variable Var_Level1.
Steps to implement BAdI are as in following link
BEx Query - Control the values which are shown on F4
Used following code to elimitate #.
    METHOD IF_RSR_VARIABLE_F4_RESTRICT~GET_RESTRICTION_FLAT.
DATA: l_s_range     LIKE LINE OF c_t_range.
DATA: l_var_range   LIKE LINE OF i_t_var_range.

  • Query as a Web Service and In List

    Hi,
Here is my scenario (Xcelsius 2008 Enterprise SP2):
    - List builder object which returns multiple values
I want to use those values to filter a Query as a Web Service data connection (to BW based universe). How is that possible?
My web service contains a Filter defined as <Dimension> In List <Prompt>
    I have tried the following:
    1) Selected multiple rows in the Input Values/Read From section of the connection
    2) Tried to concatenate the individual values using ; and , and then passing the concatenated values to the Read From section of the connection (as one cell)
    1) works fine as long as I just select one value, but when I select multiple values, only the first one is used to filter the QaaWS
    2) Does not work
Any ideas/suggestion on how to solve this?
    Thanks in advance,
    Jacob

    Hello David,
I tried this feature of BI Services through WebI Rich Client. But I am having problem with sending values for Prompts using Xceslius. Below is the procedure I followed in developing a report and using BI web service to connect to Xcelsius.
    1) Build a report in Web Intelligence rich client along with Query filters (Inlist, Optional Prompts).
    2) Activate BI Service and publish the block after exporting the file.
    3) Use the WSDL URL to connect to Xcelsius from Data Connection (Add as Query As Web Service and Import it).
    4) Method: Get_ReportBlock_<Block name>,
        set input values <Enter_value_s_for_prompt>
            i) Valueofprompt (bind to single values, hard coded)
ii) Index (leave blank, not binded)
    5) set <refresh> as 1 (or true) and <getfromlatestdocumentinstance> as 0 (false)
    6) Bind the output values to excel and pull a scorecard component to view the data.
    7) Preview the dashboard and now I get this error
Cannot Access external Data: String index out of range: -1
When I remove both the values inserted in step 5, I get complete data (prompt is not applied). I also have a doubt whether I can pass multiple values for the prompt without using + sign to duplicate the Prompt.
From some of the previous posts I came to know about Value formatting compatibility issue between BI Services and Xcelsius. Which is addressed with two fix packs
    1) XI 3.1 SP2.5 (available since last March) for WebIntelligence Rich Client & BI Services, and
    2) Xcelsius 2008 SP3.1 (available since last April).
Are these the up to date Fix packs available and will they solve my problem?
Where can I download them from (SAP Market place)? or from our SAP service consultant?

  • How can I dynamically assign prompt and URI to a button in a table?

I've got a VO returning document name, link and a status flag. My resultsTable for this VO is currently displaying 3 fields: 2 messageStyledText fields for the document name and link text, and a switcher that shows a checkbox image or red X image depending on the value.
I now want to put a button into this results table that a user can click to launch a subsequent page where they can fill out those related docs. To do this, I'd like to make the prompt of this button = VO.documentName, the Desitination URI of this button = VO.linkText, and then leave the switcher as is. The result might look somethign like this:
    <Form 838C> X
    <Form 1952> \/
    <Form 1234> X
In this case, Form 1952 ahs been filled out, the others not. Users should be able to click one of the buttons to launch a subsequent page where they can fill the form.
I found code to walk through a VO results set using an iterator, you'll see that below. Now, stubbed in these 3 steps below:
    --set button dest
    --set button label
    --determine loop end
I can't see how to do this. I already have the table, so can I walk through the results set and access the results table at the same time?
I need to be able to set each of the buttons to the right Label (Prompt) and then set each button to the appropriate destination. Here's what I have so far: Thanks in advance!

  • Problem with sorting and filtering of table

    Hello,
using VC 7.1 SP5 I have created [this|http://img232.imageshack.us/img232/2460/screenshotsr0.png] model. The webservice returns a collection of structured elements. The table is meant to display values of top-level attributes. This works as expected.
However, the table cannot be sorted or filtered. What is the reason for this? How can I fix that?
I tried to store the result of the web service in a data bridge. That did not succeed.
    Best regards
    Alexander

    Hi Natty,
How are you trying to sort it?
I want to be able to sort the table by clicking on the table column headers. Furthermore, I want be able to filter the table by using the built-in table feature. However, table sorting and filtering seem to be disabled for this particular table, whereas other tables in my model provide the desired features.

  • Can we toggle the display of Key/Text in Webi prompt?

    Gurus,
We have a BOBJ 4.0 and BW 7.1 system. We have developed a webi report on top of BW BEx query. We have created 3 variables in BW BEx Query and they appear as prompts in webi. The prompt variables in webi display both the key and text when the list of values are refreshed. The business wants to see the key first and the text later on the webi prompt. I have tried modifying the BEx query to say just 'Key' or 'Key and Text' but none seems to have any effect on webi.
I have attached the screenshot from our webi prompt which displays all the material text first and the material number (key) next to it. Is there any option of bringing the key first and the text later in the webi prompt? Creating a universe or creating the prompts directly on the webi report is not an option at this time.
Any help is greatly appreciated! Points will be rewarded!
    Thanks,

I am sorry if I wasn't clear in my requirement. The requirement is to have the Key display first and then the text next to it. If you see the attached screenshot, in the highlighted area, we have the text first and then the key next to it.
I tried making many changes to the BEx variable and the BEx Query but this order of text first and key next in the prompts does not seem to change. Is there a way to change this behavior of the webi prompts? Again, all the 3 prompts are created on BEx query designer as variables and there are no variables created on webi.

  • List view webpart sorting and filtering requires sign-in.

I have a list view webpart on a page - both the page and the list are viewable to anonymous users.  The page loads great, but as soon as an anonymous user tries to sort, filter, or use the stock list search box, a login prompt is encountered.  Is
    there a way around this?

    Hi,
For your issue, I have done a test in SharePoint 2013, and it works fine, I can’t reproduce your issue.
Navigate to Central Administration ->Application Management->Manage web applications-> Select the web applications and click the “Authentication providers”->Click “Default” link
“->Check the “Enable anonymous access” option->save
Navigate to one of the site collections under the configured web application and go to Configure -> Site Settings-> Under the “Users and permissions” section, click the Site
permissions->click Anonymous Access in the Ribbon->In this dialog you have three configuration options, I checked Entire Web site.
Whether the issue occurs in every site collection. Do a test in another site collection, compare the results.

Here are some useful posts about how to enable anonymous access to a SharePoint 2013 site, you can use as a reference:

  • Export to Excel is not working for List View Web Part after filtering using Query String parameters in SharePoint 2010

    Hi,
I am filtering SharePoint list view web part based on Query string parameter and I am doing Export to Excel by using following code.
    <a href="#" onclick="javascript:window.location='../_vti_bin/owssvr.dll?CS=109&Using=_layouts/query.iqy&List=0DC67399-BE11-48F3-ADFC-E911FB8B5845&View=54671412-3EFE-4281-835A-9EF747AE774E&CacheControl=1'"><img
    alt="Excel" src="/_layouts/images/icxlsx.gif" border="0"/>&nbsp;Export to Excel</a>
Issue: Able to do Export to Excel when there are no filters applied on list view web part but if applied filters on web part and do export to excel , only header fields are displaying in the excel sheet.
I don't know why owssvr.dll is behaving like that .
    Please share your ideas.
    Thanks in Advance.

    Hi,
According to your post, my understanding is that you wanted to create hyperlink to export to excel.
The URL to execute the export is as follows:
    {Site URL}/_vti_bin/owssvr.dll?CS=109&Using=_layouts/query.iqy&List={List GUID}&View={View GUID}&CacheControl=1
After getting the GUID, you  need to “decode” the list GUID.
    Replace %7B with {
    Replace %2D with –
    Replace %7D with }

  • All LOV's for Currency prompt not showing in Webi prompts

    Hello Experts,
I have a scenario. My BW systems are undergoing upgrade. SO one is on 7.1 and the other on 7.3
I have Business Objects BI 4.0,SP2 environments on top of both and MDX universes based on top of Bex queries. When i point my universe to BW 7.1 system, all the currency values(#,USD,NSD etc.) in the Currency prompt come up which are shown similar to BW currency prompt values in RSRT.
When i point the same BOBJ universe to BW 7.3 environment to the same Bex query, some of the currency values at webi prompt level like USD,NZD are missing and dont show up whereas they show as it is in RSRT in the BW prompts.
Any suggestions or ideas with this ?
    Thanks and regards,
    Abhishek

    HI,
it doesn't look like an SAP Integration Kit issue to me, but instead an issue in regards to the Business Views. I would suggest you post the question into the Crystal REports forum.
    regards
