  • JSP, Data Web Bean, BC4J: Setting the where clause of a View Object at run time

    Hi,
    I am trying to develop a data web bean in which the where clause of a View Object will be set at run time and the results of the query then displayed.
    My BC4J components are located in one project while the coding for the data web bean is in another project. I used the following code bu t it does not work. Could you please let me know what I am doing wrong?
    public void populateOSTable(int P_EmpId)
    String m_whereString = "EmpView.EMP_ID = " + P_EmpId;
    String m_OrderBy = "EmpView.EMP_NAME";
    oracle.jbo.ApplicationModule appModule = null;
    ViewObject vo = appModule.findApplicationModule("EMPBC.EMPAppModule").findViewObject("EMPBC.EMPView");
    vo.setWhereClause(m_whereString);
    vo.setOrderByClause(m_OrderBy);
    vo.executeQuery();
    vo.next();
    String empName numAttrs = vo.getAttribute(EmpName);
    System.out.println(empName);
    Thanks.

    1. In the JSP, use a RowsetNavigator bean to set the where clause and execute the query.
    2. Use a custom web bean to process the results of the query (print to HTML).
    for example:
    <jsp:useBean class="oracle.jbo.html.databeans.RowsetNavigator" id="rsn" scope="request" >
    <%
    // get the parameter from the find form
    String p = request.getParameter("p");
    String s = request.getParameter("s");
    // store the information for reference later
    session.putValue("p", p);
    session.putValue("s", s);
    // initialize the app module and view object
    rsn.initialize(application,session, request,response,out,"wt_bc_WT_bcModule.wtjoinView");
    // set the where clause string
    String theclause = "presname = '" + p + "' AND slideno=" + s;
    // set the where clause for the VO
    rsn.getRowSet().getViewObject().setWhereClause(theclause);
    rsn.getRowSet().getViewObject().executeQuery();
    rsn.getRowSet().first();
    %>
    </jsp:useBean>
    <jsp:useBean class="wt_bc.walkthruBean" id="wtb" scope="request" >
    <%
    // initialize the app module and VO
    wtb.initialize(application,session, request,response,out,"wt_bc_WT_bcModule.wtjoinView");
    wtb.render();
    %>
    In this case, the render method of my custom web bean mostly gets some session variables, and prints various content depending on the session variable values.
    Hope this helps.
    </jsp:useBean><HR></BLOCKQUOTE>
    Laura can you give the code of your walkthru bean? i wna't to initialize a viewobject, set the where clause and give that viewobject back to initialize my navigatorbar.

  • Webi formula: Create sum with where clause on measure

    Hi,
    I am trying to create a sum of all values in a table which are greater than a specific threshold. Maybe someone can help me here. I haven't figured whether and how this is possible.
    Here is a simple example:
    Dimension
    Measure
    A
    12
    B
    8
    C
    25
    D
    3
    E
    11
    I would like to sum up all values that are greater than 10. So I would have 12 + 25 + 11 = 48.
    The formula I tried in WebI was:
    =Sum([Measure]) Where ([Measure] >= 10)
    The formula is validated with no errors, but the result gives me the grand total ignoring the where clause.
    In this example, that would be 12 + 8 + 25 + 3 + 11 = 59.
    Any idea, how to achieve a formula like the above?
    Thanks and regards,
    Stefan

    Hi Stefan,
    Write a formula
    =Sum([Measure]) Where ([Measure] >= 10 in ([Dimension ]))
    Ex:
    Below report have currency and their amount
    wrote a formula
    =Sum([Current Amount Bal]) Where ([Current Amount Bal] > 10,000 In ([Currency]))

  • Values from a Multi-Select in the where clause of a Select statement

    I have a web page that solicits query parameters from the user.
    The selections that the user makes will populate the WHERE clause of a Select statement.
    One of the controls on the page is a multi-select control.
    When this page posts, I would like to execute a Select statement wherein the selected values from this control appear in the .. Column IN ( <list here> ) portion of the WHERE clause.
    This is an extremely common scenario, but I cannot seem to locate a how-to or message thread that addresses this specific case.
    I have an idea that it may involve dynamic SQL or Execute Immediate, but cannot seem to pin down the answer.
    Any help would be greatly appreciated!

  • SQL Strings in Where Clause - single quotes issue

    All,
    I’m having issues related to SQL String literals when trying to deploy to flash. The complication works fine but I then get a message (see below) stating that a ; is missing. The SQL query and the iview runs fine when we use numeric values or do not apply a where clause on the table.
    I am using Visual Composer that has been packaged with NW2004sSP7_Preview
    VC & Flex Version: 645.7.0.3
    The Error message is get is;

    It seems that the parser for the flash deployment is prematurely finishing the parse when it hits the single quotation in the SQL string!
    We had a similar error where if we had a carriage return in the SQL (e.g. between the from & the where clause) then the deployment parser was stating that the line finished prematurely. In the deployment file the carriage return forced a new line thus making the message incomplete. Removing the carriage return resolve that issue
    The SQL Preview in the SQL Editor within VC works fine with the string literals in the where clause.
    The functionality compiles & deploys in web dynpro however it does not return the results to the table
    Questions
    1:> Has anyone successfully used flash with string literals in the SQL where clause or had seen this issue in the past?
    2:> Is there a setting to get the SQL working on Web dynpro for the information to be returned that I may have missed?
    Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

    And having an open ended search function on a web page is also not a great idea.
    If you are using Apex, the for performance (and even query flexibility) it will be better creating a separate reporting region for each unique query. A boolean rendering condition checks the existing bind variables in order to determine if that specific reporting region should be executed.
    This results in a reporting region having a proper and dedicated SQL query (no hacking of the where clause) and that region only being rendered for the proper combination of supplied filter criteria.
    A slightly more complex, but more flexible approach, is using a generic reporting region that calls a PL/SQL function that creates returns the SQL query for execution and rendering. The approach to this is very similar to constructing a SQL ref cursor (dynamically) for a client. The only difference is that instead of creating the actual ref cursor, the code simply needs to return the SQL source code statement - with bind variables. The Apex run-time does the rest (does the binds and execution and rendering).
    If you are not using Apex - you should still consider these approaches. And not hacking a single SQL to cater for all different types of filter conditions.

  • WHERE clause creating a join for two or more tables

    The CS3 Dreamweaver book says that the WHERE clause can
    create a join for two or more tables. The join was created, but the
    data is repeating. I have searched the web and this forum and have
    not found the answer.
    My Master page filters the recordset by Style No and when a
    customer clicks on a particular style, it sends him to the Detail
    page. All the records are showing from all tables on the detail
    page from the Dynamic List, except they are showing multiple times
    (ex. Size table has 4 sizes and Color table has 2 colors - my Size
    Drop Down list is showing 8 options and my Color Drop Down List is
    showing 8 options) I have a Master Page with a recordset pointing
    to a Detail Page using the same recordset.
    Master page works perfectly.
    Master Recordset SQL:
    SELECT products.itemID, products.category, products.styleno,
    products.name, products.description, products.ourprice,
    products.imageTH, products.image, coloroption.color,
    sizeoption.size
    FROM products, coloroption, sizeoption
    WHERE category = 'chefcoats' AND
    products.styleno=sizeoption.styleno AND
    products.styleno=coloroption.styleno
    GROUP BY products.styleno
    ORDER BY styleno ASC
    The Detail Recordset:
    SELECT products.itemID, products.category, products.styleno,
    products.name, products.description, products.ourprice,
    products.imageTH, products.image, sizeoption.size,
    coloroption.color
    FROM products, sizeoption, coloroption
    WHERE itemID=colname AND products.styleno=sizeoption.styleno
    AND products.styleno=coloroption.styleno
    I tried using the GROUP BY on the detail page, but then it
    only showed one size and color from the dynamic drop down list. I
    tried changing the field name "styleno" in the other tables to be
    unique, however, I was using the table identifer. I tried using the
    JOIN command instead of the WHERE clause and that didn't help
    either.
    On the detail page, the customer is supposed to click on the
    Size box and see sizes XSM - 6XL ONLY ONE TIME. and then be able to
    click on the Color option and see White, Black, Red ONE TIME.
    Is this possible?
    Thank you for giving your time to read this.!

  • Using multiple values in a where clause, for values only known at runtime

    Dear all
    I am creating a PL/SQL program which returns multiple rows of data but only where it meets a set id values that a user has previously chosen. The id values are stored in an associative array and are chosen by a user in the preceding procedure at run time.
    I know all the table and column names in advance. The only things I don't know are the exact number of ids selected from the id column and what their values will be. This will only be known at runtime. When the procedure is run by the user it prints multiple rows of data to a web browser.
    I have been reading the following posting, which I understand to a large extent, Query for multiple value search But I cannot seem to figure out how I would apply it to my work as I am dealing with multiple rows and a cursor.
    The code as I have currently written it is wrong because I get an error not found message in my web browser. I think the var_user_chosen_map_list_ids in the for cursor loop could be the problem. I am using the variable_user_chosen_map_list_ids to store all the id values from my associatative array as a string. Which I modified from the code that vidyadhars posted in the other thread.
    Should I be creating a OPEN FOR ref cursor and if so where would I put my associative array into it? At the moment I take the value, turning it into a string and IN part in the WHERE clause holds the string, allowing the WHERE clause to read all the values from it. I would expect the where clause to read everything in the string as 1 complete string of VARCHAR2 data but this would not be the case if this part of the code at least was correct. The code is as follows:
    --Global variable section contains:
    var_user_chosen_map_list_ids VARCHAR2(32767);
    PROCEDURE PROCMAPSEARCH (par_user_chosen_map_list_ids PKG_ARR_MAPS.ARR_MAP_LIST)

       '''' ||
       par_user_chosen_map_list_ids(rec_user_chosen_map_list_ids) ||
    END LOOP;
    var_user_chosen_map_list_ids := substr(var_user_chosen_map_list_ids,
                                            1,
                                            length(var_user_chosen_map_list_ids)-1);
    var_exe_imm_map := 'FOR rec_search_entered_details IN cur_map_search

    END LOOP;';
    END PROCMAPSEARCH;EXECUTE IMMEDIATE var_exe_imm_map;
    I would be grateful of any comments or advice.

    I would like to thank everyone for their kind help.
    I have now successfully converted my code for use with dynamic SQL. Part of my problem was getting the concept confused a little, especially as I could get everything work in a static cursor, including variables, as long as they did not contain multiple values. I have learnt that dynamic sql runs the complete select statement at runtime. However even with this I was getting concepts confused. For example I was including variables and the terminator; inside my select string, where as these should be outside it. For example the following is wrong:
         TABLE (sys.dbms_debug_vc2coll(par_user_chosen_map_list_ids))....
    AND MI.map_publication_id = column_value;';Where as the following is correct:
         TABLE (sys.dbms_debug_vc2coll('||par_user_chosen_map_list_ids||'))....
    AND MI.map_publication_id = column_value';PL/SQL is inserting the values and then running the select statement, as opposed to running the select statement with the variables and then accessing the values stored in those variables. Once I resolved that it worked. My revised code is as follows:
    --Global variable section contains:
    var_user_chosen_map_list_ids VARCHAR2(32767);
    var_details VARCHAR(32767);

  • Setting dynamic WHERE clause in VO

    Hi all,
    I am using JDev 11.1.2.2.0. Example Scenario : In my application, In the first page, I am choosing a location value. In the second page I have a model based VO. The where clause of the query has to be set dynamically, based on the location what I am choosing in the first page. How to achieve this?
    Regards,
    Infy

    First make sure you have defined your method in the AM Impl class.
    Here is a post from a few topics back :
    umesh.agarwal wrote:
    My question is how can I create a method that will return this information and use it from the ViewController ?For this:
    1) Created a method in AMImpl
    2) Exposed the method through Client Interface.
    See this for more details:
    http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E12839_01/web.1111/b31974/bcservices.htm#sm0212
    Then
    3) Define a method action binding in your jspx page(pagedef) where you want to access this method.
    http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E15523_01/web.1111/b31974/web_adv.htm#ADFFD20984
    4) Use the below code to call the AM method from View controller
    DCBindingContainer bindings =
    (DCBindingContainer)BindingContext.getCurrent().getCurrentBindingsEntry();
    OperationBinding operationBinding =
    bindings.getOperationBinding("<method_name_in_AM>");
    if (operationBinding != null) {
    operationBinding.execute();
    Object obj = operationBinding.getResult(); //obj will contain the value returned from your AM method
    Step 4) is when you want to call that method from a bean.
    You can also drag that method (from your data control) on your page. JDev will then ask if you want to make a form of it.
    When you choose for that option, you will get an input field and a button. When you fill in the parameter in that input field and then hit the button, the method will be
    executed and will use the inputed value as your parameter.

  • Beginner: Getting syntax error on WHERE clause in SELECT

    I'm very new to php and mySQL.  Am using DW master/detail to generate to basic code I need.  One thing I need to do is modify a select statement in the master to include a WHERE clause to limit the selection to a particular value in one field.
    I'm getting a syntax error with the WHERE clause I'm adding to the map select statement.
    This is the portion of the error message showing the error location:
    'WHERE Group='Community' LIMIT 0, 10'
    The php that generated the select is:
    $query_maps = "SELECT * FROM tblmaps ORDER BY tblmaps.DispSeq";
    $query_limit_maps = sprintf("%s WHERE Group='%s' LIMIT %d, %d", $query_maps, $selectGroup, $startRow_maps, $maxRows_maps);
    This approach to creating the select statement is from the code generated for the master page.  It adds the LIMIT clause.  All I did was add the "WHERE Group='%s' and the $selectGroup variable which comes from earlier code.  You can see that the $selectGroup variable is equal to the "Community: group.
    I've scanned the web to see what syntax error I might be making but haven't found anything that explains it.
    The full resolved select statement is:
    SELECT * FROM tblmaps ORDER BY tblmaps.DispSeq WHERE Group='Community' LIMIT 0,10
    What am I not seeing?
    Tom

    Thanks.  Make sense but changing that didn't help.
    Here's the error message I'm getting:
    You have an error in your SQL syntax; check the manual that corresponds to your MySQL server version for the right syntax to use near 'Group='Community' ORDER BY tblmaps.DispSeq LIMIT 0, 10' at line 1
    The full select (from a debugging ECHO I inserted) is:
    SELECT * FROM tblmaps WHERE Group='Community' ORDER BY tblmaps.DispSeq LIMIT 0, 10
    Note that when I take the WHERE clause out, there is no syntax error.

  • Using OR operator in the WHERE clause in Oracle BI

    Hi, i am using Oracle BI EE 10.1.3.3.3.
    I construct the simple report in BI Answers on the Accounts presentation layer, and use the following filter clause:
    "WHERE (AccountNum BETWEEN '441' and '473') OR (БалСчет1Порядка BETWEEN '501' and '519')"
    Then i look in the cursor cache and find the real query which is going to database, and it's "where" clause now is:
    "where ( (T45172.BA >= '441' or T45172.BA >= '501') and
    (T45172.BA >= '441' or T45172.BA <= '519') and
    (T45172.BA >= '501' or T45172.BA <= '473') and
    (T45172.BA <= '473' or T45172.BA <= '519') ) "
    Why BI create so many expressions instead of the source 2 expressions?
    How can i force BI to use the source expressions?

    I have the same settings too.
    I post the following query in the Administration web interface, and set the maximum logging level (7):
    SELECT "Plan Account"."Balance Account" saw_0
    FROM "Plan Account"
    WHERE ("Plan Account"."Balance Account" between '441' and '473')
    OR ("Plan Account"."Balance Account" between '501' and '519')
    ORDER BY saw_0
    And got the following BI execution plan:
    RqList <<5619441>> [for database 0:0,0] distinct D1.c1 as c1 [for database 3023:44913,46]
    Child Nodes (RqJoinSpec): <<5619450>> [for database 3023:44913:DB,46]

    ) as D1
    ) as D1
    OrderBy: c1 asc [for database 0:0,0]
    and following query sent to database:
    -------------------- Sending query to database named DB (id: <<5619277>>):
    select distinct D1.c1 as c1
    from
    (select distinct T45172.BA as c1

    where ( (T45172.BA >= '441' or T45172.BA >= '501') and (T45172.BA >= '441' or T45172.BA <= '519') and (T45172.BA >= '501' or T45172.BA <= '473') and (T45172.BA <= '473' or T45172.BA <= '519') )
    ) D1
    So, i got the same bad where clause...
    What can you advice?

    It works in my Mysql Query browser without problem but when I run it from Java I get this:

    I am having the similiar problem, the query in java creator IDE works fine after i upgraded the J-connector and changed DataSource type for MySQL to mysql-connector-java-5.0.4-bin.jar. but still i cannot bind any control in the form to the aliased column. this is really frustrating. can anyone from Sun Developer explain?

  • Setting bind values in where clause in ViewObjectImpl

    We want customize our views in a special manner. To look up for instance a text in the session langauge, we add a bind variable to the declared where clause of a VO:
    and text.lang = :lang
    Let's suppose, the actual value of the session language be known within ViewObjectImplementations. I want to set the bind value transparently within the ViewObjectImplementation rather than having to do it in every UI related client using this VO. Until now, I set the bind value whenever getViewObject or BuildWhereClause is called. This is sufficient for the AM Tester, but not for JClient forms using this VO (as a Not-all-values-bound exception is thrown), and I am not able to figure out by the documentation which methods of a VO are called when it is created and queried by a JClient form.

    See this web log posting on providing automatic default values for VO bind variables:

  • Conditional WHERE clause for APEX

    Dear SQL gurus,
    I know that there's a APEX forum, but I think that there maybe an sql based solution for this...
    What I have is a query like this:
    SELECT COMMENT_ORIG, COMMENT_CHARGING
    FROM  CL_INVENTORY_OPEN_OUT
    WHERE INCIDENTAL_FK=:P13_INCIDENTAL_FK where :P13_INCIDENTAL_FK is a field in the Web Based GUI...
    What I need is to change the WHERE clause to something like this
    WHERE
      DECODE(:P13_INCIDENTAL_FK, NULL, 1=1, INCIDENTAL_FK=:P13_INCIDENTAL_FK)so to say:
    if the : P13_INCIDENTAL_FK is null, then let the clause be 1=1, otherwise let it be NCIDENTAL_FK=:P13_INCIDENTAL_FK.
    Is there a way to do this inside a sql statement?
    Best Regards and THX
    Johann

    SELECT COMMENT_ORIG, COMMENT_CHARGING
    FROM  CL_INVENTORY_OPEN_OUT
    WHERE INCIDENTAL_FK=:P13_INCIDENTAL_FKDo not know how you are using the query, but you might try something like this
    BEGIN
      CASE :P13_INCIDENTAL_FK
        WHEN NULL THEN
          SELECT COMMENT_ORIG, COMMENT_CHARGING
            FROM  CL_INVENTORY_OPEN_OUT
        ELSE
          SELECT COMMENT_ORIG, COMMENT_CHARGING
            FROM  CL_INVENTORY_OPEN_OUT
           WHERE INCIDENTAL_FK=:P13_INCIDENTAL_FK
      END CASE;
    END;Edited by: ajallen on May 7, 2010 6:44 AM
