WebKit.dll

Hello - What is the purpose of WebKit.dll (13Mb) and can it
be excluded from our AIR application installation CD to save
space?

It's the web browser that's included with AIR. I don't know
if it could be excluded.. try it and see what happens. I suspect
the code within AIR that connects to WebKit would throw
errors.

iTunes wont open as, error message says "The application has failed to start because WebKit.dll was not found". Does anyone have any suggestions? I've tried to remove iTunes but come up with another error "can't find iTunes.msi"

It looks like you might have two different problems going on at once. Trying the following one first:
"The application has failed to start because WebKit.dll was not found".
Taken at face value, you're having trouble with an Apple Application Support program file there. (Apple Application Support is where single copies of program files used by multiple different Apple programs are kept.)
Let's try something relatively simple first. Restart the PC. Now head into your Add or Remove programs control panel, select "Apple Application Support", click "Change" and then click "Repair".

  • AIR 3.1.0 crashing in webkit.dll on Windows XP

We have a customer who uses an Adobe AIR application we wrote. They have been on 2.7 of AIR for sometime and our application has run fine, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. AIR 3.1.0 was released and now, only on the Windows XP machines, the application is crashing routinely on a fault in webkit.dll. We have seen no such problem on the Windows 7 machines. I have included a screenshot from the Event Viewer in Windows XP. The customer was able to uninstall 3.1.0 and put back AIR 2.7 and the problems went away. Has anyone else experienced a similar problem?

A link to the other thread would be nice....
We have an AIR app that has been crashing in the webkit code (according to crash dumps on mac), but because it displays several websites in several simultaneous HTML controls, we haven't been able to identify what website is causing the crash.

When I start/install the current version, I get the following error "The procedure entry point "JSStringGetUTF8String could not be located in the dynamic link library WebKit.dll". Why isn't this dll included in the distribution? What do I do to get iTunes to install on my 64-bit AMD HP laptop.

If we take the reports at face value, we've got trouble here with your Apple Application Support, sagarys. (Program files that are used by more than one Apple program are kept in the single Apple Application Support "program" rather than being duplicated. Webkit.dll is used by both iTunes and Safari, so it lives in the Apple Application Support program files rather than in the iTunes or Safari program files.)
Do you have a 32-bit or 64-bit version of Vista? (That makes a difference as to how we go about fixing an Apple Application Support problem.)

  • Webkit.dll crash on launch

Hello. At least one user of our Flex desktop application, who was formerly able to run it normally, now has an issue in which the application crashes shortly after opening. Facts:
The user is running Windows XP SP3.
The Application event log shows "Faulting application MyAppName.exe, version 0.0.0.0, faulting module webkit.dll, version 0.0.0.0, fault address 0x001f9425."
The crash does not always happen at exactly the same time (although is always within a few seconds), and the application is able to download a few things before crashing.
Uninstalling and reinstalling the latest version of AIR on the user's machine did not help.
Running Tour de Flex produces an equivalent message.
The only potentially relevant thing that the user mentioned that has happened recently is that she installed another AIR app, svBuilder. However, since AIR was reinstalled more recently than the application was installed, I don't see how that could be related. Installing svBuilder on other computers also does not appear to induce this problem.
I found at least one example of another AIR application having the same problem.
If anyone has any idea what the problem could be here, please let me know.
    Thanks,
    Chris

  • ITunes Crashes referencing WebKit.dll on startup

Okay. My wife's laptop was working fine from home last night. Today she get's to school and hooks up her laptop and trys to start iTunes. It crashes before you have a chance to do anything with an error referencing webkit.dll.
I was told by the front office that they were having issues with their network, so on a whim, I decided to disable her network adapter. And WHAM....iTunes can start and be used just fine. Reenable the network adapter.....POW...It crashes.
Now I'm sure that when she brings it home tonight, that all will be fine, but I'm just curious what could cause this behaivor? I mean if the network is up/down/partial/whatever, why should ITunes crash?
    Thanks in advance.

I was able to make it go away by disabling the network adapter (or by unplugging the network cable) so that the machine wasn't attempting to gain internet access. In my case, the issue was a problem with the internet provider so it was like ITunes had enough internet connectivity to see that I was online, but not enough to run whatever the webkit was trying to run.
    Hope this helps.

  • Where can I get the following?  WebKit.dll

I posted a question to a Microsoft Community regarding iTune crashing every time I tried to open the iTunes Store from the iTunes Program.  The answer I received advised me to find "WebKit.dll" because the "Problem Detail Report advised me that "Webkit.dll" was missing.  I purchased a program that assured me that it would fix the dll error.  I have not had any luck getting the iTunes Store to open.  The iTunes Program still crashes.  Any help would be appreciated.
