Weblogic 6.0 ConfigurationError

Question

Is there a bug in Weblogic 6.0 which prevents weblogic.system.home from
being picked up? I come across an error when I specify
weblogic.system.home to the directory above "config" under the weblogic
installation I come across the following exception.
Starting WebLogic Server ....
The WebLogic Server did not start up properly.
Exception raised:
weblogic.management.configuration.ConfigurationException: XmlR

Alternatively, when I run the script from the weblogic.system.home
directory and not specify weblogic.system.home as a command line
argument it works fine.

I'm pretty sure it's supported - check the website for details. We have a
          client app that sends XML transactions over HTTP 1.0 to 6.0
