WebLogic 8.1 SP4 support for 10g R2

Hi,
We are looking to upgrade Oracle Server 8i to the latest version ie. 10g R2. We are running Weblogic 8.1 SP4. On BEA's site the product documentation doesn't specify the 10g R2 support, instead only list support for 9.2.0 and later versions for SP4. Has anyone tried running WL 8.1 SP4 with Oracle 10g R2. We are not looking to upgrade to RAC version of this.

Support for 10g database target

When can we expect OWB10g with support for the Oracle 10g database as a target? Is the only option available to use OWB with a 10g target simply to wait for this release? Patience may be a virture, but it an expensive virture.

Yes, the upcoming 10g Warehouse Builder release will support the 10g database as a target. Expect Warehouse Builder 10g to release approximately one week after the database 10g for Windows is being released.

Weblogic 8.1 (SP4) configuration for console log

Weblogic version: 8.1 SP4
By default in console (cmd window) log, date and time format is as below.e.g
<Jul 11, 2008 12:22:35 PM IST>
I need to see time in millisecond. Is there any configuration for this?

Assuming the log entries you care about are generated by your application, and not the infrastructure, you're better off adding millisecond detail to your application log messages. If you're using commons-logging, you can tie this to the WL server log implicitly through configuration, or you could use NonCatalogLogger to explicitly log to the WL server log.

BPC 7.5 SP4 Support for Windows 2008 R2 and SQL 2008 R2

The release notes for BPC 7.5M SP04 state that support has been added for both Windows 2008 R2 and SQL 2008 R2.
For SQL 2008 R2, there is nothing in the feature pack described as "SQL 2005 Backward Compatibility Components" - which was a required piece for BPC 7/7.5 on SQL 2008. Is the SQL 2008 version still a requirement, or does BPC 7.5 now not need the Backward Compatibility components?
Also, the ReprotViewer executable that is packaged with BPC 7.5 is the one for SQL 2008- will that work when installing SQL 2008 R2?

Support for 10g and SLES 9

Does Oracle 10g support installing on SLES 9?

I am building a new system, and have a choose of Oracle 9 or 10 running on a SLES 8 or 9. I would like to install Oracle on the lastest version SLES, but I have read that installing Oracle 9 and 10 is not supported on SLES 9.
Also, the system will not be a production system.

How to add support for new JDBC Drivers in WebLogic Server?

I am using WebLogic Server 10.
As we know,WebLogic Server contains some jdbc drivers itself,but if we want to use another drivers besides them,what can we do?(I am using Oracle 11g,but WebLogic Server 10 doesn't contain JDBC support for it.)
Just copy the .jar files of the drivers to the directoty "WL_HOME/server/lib" or need to configure something else?

Export and Import are not supported on 10g databases for users logged

I having the below written error, when i want to export or import my database. I having Standalone system using windows xp.
Role Error - Export and Import are not supported on 10g databases for users logged in with the SYSDBA role. Logout and login using a different role before trying again.

This is fixed now. Someone had defined a Servlet for the web service in web.xml that was preventing the EJB container to kick in.

Oracle support for Weblogic 7 under LINUX

Hi,
Does anyone know what happened to oracle support in weblogic 7.0 for linux platform,
as it seems that the drivers are not included? Are there any discussions on that
topic anywhere?

It DOES appear that there is support for WebLogic jDriver for Oracle on Linux:

The strange thing here is that, apparently, the Oracle drivers located @ lib/linux/i686/oci817_8/libweblogicoci38.so
and lib/linux/i686/oci817_8/libweblogicoxa38.so are "Type 2" ODBC drivers which
require an Oracle client to be installed on the WebLogic machine, but Oracle doesn't
support installation of the client on RedHat 7.2, which is required (according
BEA's doc) for installation of WebLogic 7.0. Can someone reconcile this apparent
conflict?

Bug in WebLogic 8.1 SP4 for IBM JDK 1.4.2?

Hello,

In a previous thread i posted (http://forums.bea.com/bea/thread.jspa?threadID=600006934&tstart=0), I reported that we had problems in trying to use JAAS in connecting Acegi with WebLogic 8.1 SP4 on IBM JDK 1.4.2

We did some more research and found the following:
 
WebLogic uses the class weblogic.security.service.ServerConfiguration for reading the JAAS config file. This class extends the default javax.security.auth.login.Configuration class. To see what's going on we decompiled the class and it looks like this:

The following happens when trying to authenticate through JAAS:

- The "omitted code" throws the Exception weblogic.security.service.InvalidParameterException: [Security:090396]Security Realm sample does not exist.

Why is this Exception thrown? Why does the name of my JAAS configuration in the JAAS config file needs to be the same as a Security Realm? Or this try-catch block used as some kind of control flow and is this exception expected?

- Then in the catch block the System.property login.configuration.provider is retrieved. However the JDK Specification of the class javax.security.auth.login.Configuration (sse the javadoc) states that:
The default Configuration implementation can be changed by setting the value of the "login.configuration.provider" security property (in the Java security properties file) to the fully qualified name of the desired Configuration implementation class

So because the System property is read instead of the Security property (which contains the correct IBM class), null is returned. Is this a bug?

- Because the System property is null the code then tries to load the class com.sun.security.auth.login.ConfigFile, which of course is not present in the IBM JDK, and a ClassNotFoundException is thrown. Since
the Exception is swallowed by the nested catch block we will not see this exception and null is returned that eventually leads to the "No LoginModule found..." exception.

So to summarize, my questions are these:

- Does the name of the JAAS configuration in the JAAS config file need to be the same as the name of the Realm? And if so why? 
- Is it a bug that instead of reading the Security this code is reading the System property?

As a workaround we set the System property login.configuration.provider to the correct value com.ibm.security.auth.login.ConfigFile and then it works.
