Weblogic - deploying of the new application causes the change of the datasource config

Hi there,
The description of the issue is:
I have weblogic domain and some application deployed on it.
The config.xml for the domain contains following:
  <jdbc-system-resource>
    <name>Pool</name>
    <target>myserver</target>
    <deployment-order>1</deployment-order>
    <descriptor-file-name>Pool-jdbc.xml</descriptor-file-name>
  </jdbc-system-resource>
  <jdbc-system-resource>
    <name>JNDI</name>
    <target>myserver</target>
    <deployment-order>4</deployment-order>
    <descriptor-file-name>JNDI-jdbc.xml</descriptor-file-name>
  </jdbc-system-resource>
When I tried to deploy/undeploy another application (pretty much simple hello world from netbeans) on the same domain, I found that this part of config changes to:
  <jdbc-system-resource>
    <name>Pool</name>
    <target>myserver</target>
    <deployment-order>1</deployment-order>
    <descriptor-file-name>jdbc/Pool-jdbc.xml</descriptor-file-name>
  </jdbc-system-resource>
  <jdbc-system-resource>
    <name>JNDI</name>
    <target>myserver</target>
    <deployment-order>4</deployment-order>
    <descriptor-file-name>jdbc/JNDI-jdbc.xml</descriptor-file-name>
  </jdbc-system-resource>
So the path to the files changes by adding jdbc/ in the beginning.
And then first application fails to start as the path to datasource config has been changed therefore application cannot connect to the database.
Can anyone tell me why is this happening and how to avoid that? Is there any other configs, which might be affected by deploying another application?
Thank you,
Viktor Ozerov

Hi Viktor,
As far as I know, the default path for JDBC datasources XML files is ${DOMAIN_HOME}/config/jdbc/, and paths to JDBC datasources in config.xml are added like this "jdbc/FILE.xml", so I think it's a normal behavior.
Have you relocated the datasources XML files from thier default location, or have you created them manually directly under ${DOMAIN_HOME}/config directory..?

Mohab

  • Is weblogic.deploy nondeterminism?

    Hello All,
    I am using WLS 6.1 sp2
    ** Problem's description **
    I am trying to deploy using the tool weblogic.deploy. The same archive might deploy
    fine after retrying due to an unsuccessful deployment.
    ** The two methods I am ausing **
    In order to deploy an ejb-jar W/ weblogic.deploy I can deploy using directly my
    ejb-jar or an ear that will contain my ejb-jar.
    ** Method 1: Example of my ejb-jar deployment **
    C:\Temp>java -cp "C:\bea_61\wlserver6.1\lib\weblogic.jar" weblogic.deploy -port
    7001 -host localhost -component XDEArchiveB11:examplesServer deploy myPasswd "BMPArchive"
    "C:\Temp\DEPLOYABLE_EJBJar.jar"
    ** Method 2: Example of my ear deployment **
    C:\java -cp "C:\bea_61\wlserver6.1\lib\weblogic.jar" weblogic.deploy -port 7001
    -host localhost -component DEPLOYABLE_EJBJar:examplesServer deploy passwd "BMPArchive"
    "C:\Temp\BMPArchive.ear"
    ** The tool will sometimes report the following Exception (the weblogic.log won't
    report the exception but only that the archive has been 'undeployed') **
    weblogic.j2ee.DeploymentException:

    Note 1:
    1- The same archive might deployed fine w/ Method 1 (described above) after a
    unssuccesful deployment w/ method 2.
    2- The same archive might deployed fine w/ Method 2 (described above) after a
    unssuccesful deployment w/ method 1.
    When deployment failed, by looking at the weblogic.log, I have the following:
    1- <Apr 15, 2002 4:11:32 PM PDT> <Info> <J2EE> <wus-wa1julien> <examplesServer>
    <ExecuteThread: '8' for queue: '__weblogic_admin_rmi_queue'> <system> <> <160003>

    <Undeployed : BMPArchive>
    Any idea why the tool weblogic.deploy does not always give the same consistent
    results?
    Thanks for your time trying to understand my problem,

    While compiling my program I get the warning "The typeOracleCallableStatement
    is deprecated". Is it so? If it is true what is the altenative.

  • Copy an application with plugins into a new application and change theme...

    I copied an application (theme 23) with plugins into a new application and then changed the theme to theme 26. After that, all plugins (skillbuilders super lov, skillbuilders modal, and notification plugin) didn't work at all. However, when I changed the theme back to the original theme, things worked.
    I have applications that use theme 26 with plugins and they all work fine. I think the problem is related to copying one application, containing plugins, into a new application. Does anyone have any idea of it?
    Thanks.

    Hi,
    Most plugins have css, images or js files which can be placed on the server.
    It might be that you have placed those files on the server in the theme directory.
    If you change the theme then the plugin can not find those files any more.

  • Weblogic.deploy

    I'm trying to use weblogic.deploy during development.
    Say I change something in the bean class. I have noticed that it's enough to
    replace the class files in the deployable unit (that is not running ejbc)
    and restart the server to get the changes to occur.
    However using weblogic.deploy doesn't seem to work. Regardless if I change
    an existing jar file or use ejbc.
    I'm able to replace the unit according to "weblogic.deploy list" but the
    changes aren't there when I run the EJB.
    -Is there something about the classpath. I am developing in an IDE and have
    all classes in the classpath, which are in the jar. Actually I tried to
    remove them but it didn't matter. But classpaths are always tricky.
    -I have connections between entity beans and session beans open during the
    redeploy. May these have some effect.
    Would be very happy for answers.

    I think I am having similar sorts of problems. We are trying to use weblogic.deploy
    with the update action to automate our deployment process. The deployement appears
    to go smoothly and we get no error messages, but none of the changed files appear
    to actually make it to the server. We are deploying an EAR file. We I deploy
    this file manually via the web console everything works. But if I alter some
    classes and rebuild the EAR and then try to deploy it with weblogic.deploy it
    doesn't seem to actually take effect. Do I need to undelpoy and then deploy again
    instead of using the update action?
    Any help would be appreciated.

    Whether u create HRconnDS in ur Weblogic server
    If not create it ...
    If yes just check it out whether u gave a correct connection string for it......

    What is the difference between integerated weblogic and stand alone WebLogic Server?
    I think both of them are same?
    In short:
    No,a stand alone server runs a it's own process and can be started as a service running in the background.
    The integrated server needs jdev and is optimized for debugging.

  • Weblogic 6.1SP2 - I need to know what I need to get my EJB to deploy from the console.

    I am trying to deploy my Stateful Session Bean that is in a jar on the Console. I
    do the steps it says it added and even moves it to the ./config/mydomain/applications
    directory but doesn't show up in the EJB window, nore does it seem to deploy when
    I restart weblogic as was the case in 6.0.
    I have the following classpath:

    set JAVA_HOME=C:\bea\jdk131
    set CLASSPATH=%JAVA_HOME%\lib\tools.jar;%WL_HOME%\lib\weblogic_sp.jar;%WL_HOME%\lib\weblogic.jar;c:\bea\utils\utils.jar;c:\bea\wlserver6.1\config\mydomain\applications
    I get no errors so that is the confusing part and I am unable to do a lookup on them
    from my Servlet, assuming that that is because they were not deployed.
    Assistance would be greatly appreciated.

    Are you starting the server in Development mode or Production mode? Check the -Dweblogic.ProductionModeEnabled=%STARTMODE% property when you are starting the server. If you
    are in production mode, putting it in the applications directory will not deploy it on an admin server. I don't think you need the applications directory in the classpath,
    either. You could be loading applications with the system classloader which will make them static.

    That is in the configure part. I am talking about doing a Install New EJB. When

    Hi All,
    I am using Virtual box to connect to Sharepoint 2013 VPC. Due to an unexpected sutdown of my machine the VPC got some issue. Now I restored it using my bak up file. But after this when I deploy my sharepoint 2013 farm solution Iam getting the following error.
    Error occurred in deployment step 'Recycle IIS Application Pool': Could not load file or assembly 'Microsoft.SharePoint, Version=14.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=71e9bce111e9429c' or one of its dependencies. The system cannot find the file specified..
    Editing the web.config and adding dependentAssembly didnt worked for me.
    What could be the issue? Any suggestions ?
    Thanks in advance...

    Hi,
    Please try to do as follows:
    1. Check your farm solution whether reference the Microsoft.SharePoint.dll. Or try to add the Microsoft.SharePoint.dll into the bin folder.
    2. Execute the iisreset command.
    3. Create a new farm solution and check whether the issue still occurs or not.

  • Crawl issue - warning: "This URL is part of a host header SharePoint deployment and the search application is not configured to crawl individual host header sites. This will be crawled as a part of ....a start address"

    Hello all,
    I have a multi-tenant environment in SharePoint 2010 server. Different tenants are hosted by one web app.
    One content source has been created to crawl the all shared environment. (the only URL added in the content source settings = URL of the
     web app)
    Crawl everything under the hostname for each start address has been selected when creating this content source.
    Now I have created a new tenant hosted by the same web app. For this new tenant I want to have a different crawl schedule. Simple , I just create a new content source and add the host URL of this tenant. With the same settings has the other content source.
    After having started a full crawl I get 0 success and 1 warning : “This URL is part of a host header SharePoint deployment and the search application is not configured to crawl
    individual host header sites. This will be crawled as a part of the host header Web application if configured as a start address.”
    The first content source is well crawling the new tenant freshly created. Could you tell me where I’m wrong?
    Thanks in advance
    Regards
    Baldo

    Baldo,
    In the configuration that you described you now have 2 content sources set to crawl the same content. If you have a content source with a start address of http://servername/ then it is going to crawl everything past that address. If you are now changing
    the crawl schedule based on the individual site collections, you will need to move your start addresses further down the URL.
    For Example:
    1st Content Source:
    http://servername/ as a start address would now become
    http://servername/site1
    http://servername/site2
    2nd Content Source:
    http://servername/site3
    Also remember that all crawling must happen on the default zone. If you are trying to crawl a zone that the web application has been extended into, that will not work.

  • Whether our application caused the memory leak

    whether have the command to find out whether our application caused the memory leak !
    We are using Jdev10g + JHeadstart(Release 9.0.5.1, BC4J + Struts + JSP) to build our enterprise application,
    but when the application running some days in our Application Server(RedHat AMD64, with 8GB RAM), the memory consumed was growth seriously in production environment (one OC4J instance will caused almost 2G memory ulilization after running 2 days) that is caused us to restart the instance each day ! we doubt and worry
    about maybe our application suffer the memory leak problem, so we want to know have the command to find out whether our application caused the memory leak
    issue and which program is the major murderer for memory.

    Ting,
    Unfortunately there is no 'command' that will show you the location of a memory leak. First I would scrutinizing your code for any obvious 'leaks'. Then, you should obtain some statistics about the usage of your system. One important aspect is how long a HttpSession usually lives. If you have thousands of users that stay online the entire day and never 'time out', and if you have users on the system 24 hours a day, then the sheer number of HttpSessions might be a problem.
    JHeadstart 9.0.x tends to have rather 'heavy' session objects. This can easily be solved by adding some actions to clear up DataObjects and DataObjectSets of previous 'Groups' when entering a new Group. A good place would be between the 'DynamicActionRouter' and the 'ActionRouters'. Just before entering the 'EmployeeActionRouter', you could remove all DataObjects and DataObjectSets that might be left on the Session by actions of the other ActionRouters.
    Also it would be interesting to see if the garbage collector can do its thing when the system is less busy. For instance, if your application has a smaller load during the weekend, what is the memory usage on Sunday at midnight compared to, say, Friday at noon. Has the memory load dropped consistently with the decreased number of online users, or does too much memory stay allocated? If so, then there's more going on than just HttpSession objects.
    If all this does not lead to a solution, I suggest using a profiling tool such as OptimizeIt to investigate the memory usage of the application in detail.
    Kind regards,
    Peter Ebell

Why is upgrading software iPhoto such a pain. I've gotta get a presentation done and all I get for my money is roadblock!!!

    hello, it sounds like the library is damaged.
    Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. This will create a new library based on data in the albumdata.xml file. Not everything will be brought over - no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your albums and keywords back.
    Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one.
