Weblogic Server 8.1 SP4 SSL Problem

I had a server setup using SSL and x.509 certificates on Weblogic 8.1 SP3. Everything was setup fine and working properly.
I installed SP4 and I couldnt get the Certificates to work properly. I keeps rejecting the certificate. All the Identity, Trust, and all configurations seem to be identical.
I get a message
Could not establish encrypted connection because your certificate was rejected by localhost Error Code: -12271
Any ideas on what the problem could be.

I am also wondering what the status of this problem is? It is preventing us from going to SP4.

  • Weblogic server 9.2 and SSL server certificate for the wrong site

    I turned on SSL service for a weblogic 9.2 server and later on changed the hostname of the machine that weblogic was running on. So the hostname that my SSL server certificate was issued to has now became an invalid hostname. But my weblogic server continues to run SSL service without any exception. I can still access my web applications thru the SSL port (except of course I get a warning for the server certificate every time that it is for the "wrong site"). My question is this: should weblogic 9.2 verify the hostname in the server certificate and stop SSL service if the certificate is for the wrong site? Or is verifying the certificate strictly the job of the browser? Just want to make sure there is nothing wrong with my SSL configuration. Thanks.

    So you are saying that something is wrong with my weblogic 9.2 ssl configuration? And that given a server certificate issued to a different hostname, my weblogic server should NOT be servicing ssl request and/or it should throw some sort of exception during startup? Thanks for clarifying.

  • Running Weblogic Server 7.0 SP4 using JDK 1.4

    Is it possible to run Weblogic Server 7.0 SP4 with a different JRE than the one
    that ships with 7.0 SP4. I am having issues with a bug in JDK 1.3.1 which when
    I run under JBuilder X using 1.4 is not there. ANy help as to how I go about
    doing this would be welcomed.
    Thanks
    Justin

    Yes,
    The JDK is just the Sun JDK...nothing special. You may upgrade minor versions quite safely by dowloading later one at Sun website and pointting your "JAVA_HOME" at it.
    I would not jump to 1.4, as changes in java language may impact.

    为WebLogic Server 8.1 配置Keystores 和 SSL的步骤
    一些必要条件
    Keytool 工具的使用。
    证书请求/ 应答。
    导入证书到Keystores。
    配置SSL。
    通过HTTP测试WebLogic Console
    http://support.bea.com/askbea_soln/attachments/S-22841/Configure_Keystore_SSL_WLS81_viewlet_swf.html

    If you are running SSL, you may be encountering the same problem as in http://forums.bea.com/bea/thread.jspa?threadID=200006577&tstart=15

  • Connect OEPE to a Weblogic Server running in Production SSL mode

    I am trying to connect an ECLIPSE IDE to a production Weblogic Server domain. However when I add the AdminServer to the IDE I get the message that it is Stopped but Synchronized. Therefore I cannot deploy any code directly from the IDE. How do you get Eclipse to connect to a production domain running with SSL enabled?

    According to the Oracle docs you can connect via ssl to a domain in development mode using the demo certificates. See
    http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E11035_01/wls100/secmanage/identity_trust.html - Configuring Demo Certificates for Clients
    I was wondering if it was possible using proper certificates and a production domain.

  • EJB2.0 issue on weblogic server 8.1 sp4

    We are doing some ejb2.0 development on weblogic 8.1 sp4, and We have noticed some unusual and undesirable behavior with CMR.
    The following session bean code is used to define a Many-Many relationship between different entity beans in the same EJB using CMR.
    The method does the following:
    1. Gets the existing Collection of parents EJBs for the child EJB.
    2. Checks that the new parent EJB is not in the existing parents Collection
    3. Adds the new parent to the Collection and finally sets the parents Collections for the child EJB.
    public static void addChild(EntityHandle a_parent, EntityHandle a_child)
    throws TrackingException
    TrackedEntityLocal parent = null;
    TrackedEntityLocal child = null;
    parent = getEntity(a_parent);
    child = getEntity(a_child);
    Collection parents = child.getParents();
    if (!containsEJB(parents, parent)) // return true if parent already exists in collection parents.
    parents.add(parent);
    child.setParents(parents);
    In the problem scenario we are creating the child and its parent entities in the same transaction.
    We then define the raltionships by adding parents to the same child EJB on the client side within the same transaction (that created the EJBs) like this:
    addChild( parentOne, child);
    addChild( parentTwo, child);
    addChild( parentThree, child);
    I expect 3 records in the CMR EJB table entity_relationship but I end up with 6 records in table entity_relationship like this.
    parentOne,child
    parentOne,child
    parentTwo,child
    parentOne,child
    parentTwo,child
    parentThree,child
    What seems to be happening is that these EJB relationships are being duplicated in the EJB cache which means that when the container persists the relationships it breaks a unique constraint that is defined in Oracle.
    It seems that each time I call child.getParents() I get a copy of the bean's current parent relationships in the cache (which I then add one new parent to).
    Even though I set the parent Collection back into the bean (which i would expect to replace the existing Collection) at persist time the container seems to attempt to persist 3 distinct Collections.
    We only seem to get this problem if the parent entity itself has not yet been persisted.
    If the parent EJBs have already been created in table entity beforehand, we only get 3 relationships in table entity_relationship.
    parentOne,child
    parentTwo,child
    parentThree,child
    Anybody has any idea what's going on here? thanks a million.
    EJB schema below:
    both parent and child are from one table:entity.
    CREATE TABLE entity
    ( id INTEGER NOT NULL PRIMARY KEY,
    type_id INTEGER NOT NULL

  • App Server 8.0 LDAP SSL Problems

    Hello,
    I have been able to get the following java code to connect to an LDAP server to work in a servlet (within a j2ee-module) under the Sun J2EE application server 8.0 when I am connecting to a non-ssl LDAP server:
    LDAPConnection conn = new LDAPConnection();
    conn.connect(ldap_host, Integer.parseInt(ldap_port));
    StringBuffer sb = new StringBuffer("uid=");
    sb.append(cuid).append(",").append(ldap_base);
    String dn = sb.toString();
    conn.authenticate(3, dn, password);
    I have been having a bear of the time implementing the same thing but with SSL by changing the host and port to a SSL LDAP instance and substituting the following code:
    LDAPConnection conn new LDAPConnection();
    JSSESocketFactory jssf = new netscape.ldap.factory.JSSESocketFactory(null);
    conn = new LDAPConnection(jssf);
    I have used the following command to insert the cert from the LDAP server into the keystore:
    keytool -import -trustcacerts -alias <ca-cert-alias> -file <cert>
    I have also tried to inject the cert into the cacerts file found under the SUNWappserver/domains/domain1/config/cacerts.jks file directly using keytool.
    No matter what I do, when the SSL version of the code is executed I get the following exception:

    Am I missing something here? What does one need to do to get the Sun application server to enable SSL connections to an LDAP server? I am a bit confused what keystore to use since there are numerous copies of cacerts.jks and keystore.jks among both the application server config files and the jdk/jre config files found under SUNWappserver.
    I attempted to see debug messages by adding -Djavax.net.debug=all directly to the java command found in the startserv script for this web appliaction. I am not sure if this is the correct way to set system parameters when using the J2EE Sun application server, but it should work, no? When I do this I don't see any additional messages in the server's log file found at /SUNWappserver/domains/domain1/logs/server.log. All I see is System.out.println's from the java code and the exception.
    Thanks in advance for any help.

    Harpreet,
    Thanks for the reply. Yes I do just want to authenticate to the LDAP server from some code in my servlet. It is working against a non-ssl server right now. I guess I am not using the LDAPRealm that the appserver provides because I didn't now about it. I just pulled working LDAP code from another project (written for weblogic). As I said before all is working fine against the non-ssl server, however, I need to authenticate against a SSL server. As for your other question, why am I using JSSESocketFactory, I don't have a good answer. The application I am using as an example around here uses ldapsdk.jar. Are you saying that these LDAP classes are already built in?
    Thanks
    - Dan
    Hi Dan
    A couple of questions that will help me understand
    this better.
    1. It seems you just want to authenticate to the LDAP
    server
    from some code in your servlet - is that right?
    (On a side note: why dont you use the LDAPRealm that
    the appserver
    provides? It currently does not perform SSL
    authentication but that is
    something we are looking at). This way you dont end up
    reinventing the wheel.
    2. Any particular reasons on not using J2SE Security
    factory classes
    (Since you use netscape JSSESocketFactory - you will
    have to use
    Netscape provided flags to see what is going on over
    the wire). That
    is the reason javax.net.debug flags are not showing
    any useful output.
    PS: javax.net.debug=ssl should suffice
    Some comments and clarifications:
    The truststore that you should bother about - is the

    - Regards
    Harpreet
    I have been able to get the following java code to
    connect to an LDAP server to work in a servlet(within
    a j2ee-module) under the Sun J2EE applicationserver
    8.0 when I am connecting to a non-ssl LDAP server:
    LDAPConnection conn = new LDAPConnection();
    conn.connect(ldap_host,Integer.parseInt(ldap_port));
    StringBuffer sb = new StringBuffer("uid=");
    sb.append(cuid).append(",").append(ldap_base);
    String dn = sb.toString();
    conn.authenticate(3, dn, password);
    I have been having a bear of the time implementingthe
    same thing but with SSL by changing the host andport
    to a SSL LDAP instance and substituting thefollowing
    code:
    LDAPConnection conn new LDAPConnection();
    JSSESocketFactory jssf = new
    netscape.ldap.factory.JSSESocketFactory(null);
    conn = new LDAPConnection(jssf);
    I have used the following command to insert the cert
    from the LDAP server into the keystore:
    keytool -import -trustcacerts -alias <ca-cert-alias>
    -file <cert>
    I have also tried to inject the cert into thecacerts
    file found under the
    SUNWappserver/domains/domain1/config/cacerts.jksfile
    directly using keytool.
    No matter what I do, when the SSL version of thecode
    is executed I get the following exception:

    Am I missing something here? What does one need todo
    to get the Sun application server to enable SSL
    connections to an LDAP server? I am a bit confused
    what keystore to use since there are numerous copies
    of cacerts.jks and keystore.jks among both the
    application server config files and the jdk/jreconfig
    files found under SUNWappserver.
    I attempted to see debug messages by adding
    -Djavax.net.debug=all directly to the java command
    found in the startserv script for this web
    appliaction. I am not sure if this is the correctway
    to set system parameters when using the J2EE Sun
    application server, but it should work, no? When Ido
    this I don't see any additional messages in the
    server's log file found at
    /SUNWappserver/domains/domain1/logs/server.log. AllI
    see is System.out.println's from the java code andthe
    exception.
    Thanks in advance for any help.

  • Weblogic server 8.1 sp5 startup problem

    Hello all,
    I have been having a problem with Weblogic 8.1 sp5.
    Twice in a week, I would start an admin and managed server and what would happen is that the managed server will not startup. I would click the it's startup .cmd file and it would pop up and then dissapear. This was my primary problem.
    In one case the admin server terminal would show up but I would go to the admin console and it would not appear, hence the admin server could not start up.
    What I would like to know is why when we click a startup .cmd file, the terminal would pop up and disappear and why servers don't start up in general? What areas should we look into?
    Any input is welcome.

    start ur admin first as ./startweblogic.sh or double click on startweblogic.cmd if in windows OS
    Then modify ur startmanagedweblogic file with admin url and port and also server name as ur managed servers name
    Save that file as (save as option) startManagedWeblogic_M1.cmd and startManagedWeblogic_M2.cmd to start them
    the admin url and port would be the same form M1 and M2
    only the server_name will be different, M1 for M1 and M2 for M2
    Next start ur managed servers and let me know

  • Weblogic Server 8.1 SP4 "Deploy" tasks

    Since upgrading to SP4 on WL Server 8.1 the deployment task for our application is now taking twice as long as it did in SP2. Can anyone advise if there are any known issues with deployments.

    I am also wondering what the status of this problem is? It is preventing us from going to SP4.

  • Windows Server AD Certificate Services SSL Problem with Firefox

    Hello all,
    I currently have problems with Active Directory Certificate Services issued SSL certificates and compatibility with Firefox (newest).
    Environment: PKI has been deployed in two tier architecture, root CA and Enterprise Issuing CA. Both Servers are Windows 2008 R2, Issuing is Enterprise edition, Root Standard edition. Problem exist with the Firefox and issued certificates, when trying to
    open protected page with this certificate I get:
    Message: Error code: sec_error_bad_signature
    Certificate looks like this:
    Version: V3
    Signature Algorithm: RSASSA-PSS
    Signature Has Algorithm: SHA1
    Root CA is trusted and installed on each machine keystore. Problem only affects Firefox, I suspect the problem is the FF keystore, because for Chrome and IE everything works.
    Maybe you have the same expierence with FF compatibility issues.
    Thanks in advance!

    It appears that you have two different problems:
    1 -- you are using an expired certificate. You should download the

    2 -- you should check out the documentation on using the

  • Problems Starting Weblogic  Server for Tutorials (Fresh install)...

    Hi guys, need a little help here.
    I'm trying to startup Weblogic Server for Java Control Tutorial application and I get all sorts of errors, mostly seeming to deal with JMS/JNDI network stuff. Here's the error dump I get:

    THANK YOU for any help you can provide!

    These are errors/warning because of incorrect connection pool settings.Either the database parameters were not configured correctly or there were some issues with the configuration itself.
    Your server did start up correctly though.
