WebLogic WLST Install question cgDataSource.

I'm trying to script out a WebLogic 10.3g install on a Windows 2003 Server using JRockit and Oracle 10.3g as the cgDataSource and cgDataSource-nonXA. All of the samples for a silent install using a silent.xml parameter file don't allow you to change the Java SDK being used. When I get into the wlst.py script files I can't see any way to tell cgDataSource or cg..XA to point to Oracle until after the install has been completed.
So, what is the best practice? Do I install using the defaults and then manually update to use the latest version of JRockit? After that, do I manually or script the cgDataSource from PointBase to use Oracle? I'm trying to make this a click once type of install.
Thanks.

All of the samples for a silent install using a silent.xml parameter file don't allow you to change the Java SDK being usedhttp://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E15051_01/common/docs103/install/scripts/silent.xml

  • Where Is weblogic.WLST Installed? (Version 10.3)

    I've installed Weblogic Server 10.3 (Oracle WebLogic Server 11gR1 (10.3.1) - Package Installer). I want to use weblogic.WLST but it does not seem like it got installed? What am I missing.
    Thank you

    This was helpful, thank you.
    I read through the cited example however I was unable to find a 'weblogic.WLST' anywhere under $WL_HOME. Then I stumbled across a $WL_HOME/wlserver_10.3/common/bin/*wlst.sh*. I found that I can invoke that script and be placed at a WLST prompt. I was then able to start the node manager and Admin Server using WLST.
    I wonder what happened to 'weblogic.WLST', maybe this wlst.sh is it's replacement in version 10.3?
    In the end, I had problems starting a Managed Server, and I've been reading through the doc a good part of the day so I think I'm going to start a new thread on that problem.
    Thank you!

    No, you should wait till the end of the Welcome video, when the message says it will restart to finish installation it means installation is still in progress, conclude the procedures.

  • Free download, and install question

    Free download, and install question.
    I need to buy a larger h/d, but till then I would like to put as many programs as possible on a external usb drive that I have hooked up to my PC.  I've been able to do this with some other programs, and would like to try it with my Adobe Reader and Flash.  When down loading and installing it does not give me the option to install in a defferent location other then my C: drive.  Can this be done?  Thanks you?

    From the MSI you have to create a MST (Transforms). In the MST create now the new property INSTALLDIR=F:\, where F: is your USB-drive. If you use then the command
    msiexec.exe /i [MSI] transforms=[MST]
    Adobe Reader should be installed to F:

  • wlst vs java classname="weblogic.WLST" which one is preferred?

    Hi,
    I have recently started working with weblogic 10gR3 and came across examples to invoke wlst scripts from ANT.
    Since there are two approaches i would like to know the difference and which one is preferred. I have so far seen more examples of <java classname="weblogic.WLST"> then <wlst>. In my personal experience i find it more convenient to invoke python script using weblogic.WLST option.
    any comments?
    thanks

    Hello Lance,
    I will try to reproduce it on my side and see if I can reproduce, until then use the shutdown() method on the server runtime MBean as workaround.

  • WebLogic - WLST Server start question

    If I have an Admin Server and nodemanager on ServerA and a nodemanager on ServerB with a full WLS install can I connect to the nodemanager on ServerB from ServerA and stop and start managed servers via WLST? Is that possible or do I need to be on the remote box to do it?

    Hi,
    You can connect to the nodemanager on ServerB from ServerA and stop and start managed servers via WLST / Admin-Console however in both the cases the node-manager has to up and running and make sure you have done Enrolled ServerB's node-manger to ServerA's node-manger.
    To get step-by-step instructions you can have a look at the following link:

    Hope above information helped you.

  • WebLogic.WLST question

    I am trying to create a python script to use with WLST to deploy applications into our BEA environment without having to go thru the console. I am not a python developer but I tried to take a stab at it. Here is what I came up with.
    # Prompt user for input
    name = raw_input("Enter username:")
    password = raw_input("Enter password:")
    protocol = raw_input("Enter URL(ex.t3://adminAddress:adminPort)?")
    app = raw_input("Archive: ")
    appPath = "/beadev/wls920/applications/" + app
    Server = raw_input("Managed/Cluster: ")
    # Output user input to stdout
    print name
    print password
    print protocol
    print app[:-4]
    print appPath
    print Server
    # Format parameters to the deploy() method
    # based on user input
    cmd = "deploy(" +"\"" + app[:-4] + "\"" + "," "\"" \
    + appPath + "\"" + "," "\"" + Server \
    + "\"" + "," + "securityModel=" \
    + "\"DDOnly\"" + "," + "block=" + "\"true\"" ")"
    # Output parameters to stdout
    print "Command sent to deploy(): " + cmd
    # Define method
    def deploy_myApp(cmd):
    try:
    #deploy(app,appPath , Server ,securityModel="DDOnly",block="true")
    #deploy("Operations","/beadev/wls920/applications/Operations.war","dstDevMS3",securityModel="DDOnly",block="true")
    #deploy(cmd)
    cmd
    print "Command inside the deploy_myApp() function: " + cmd
    except:
    print "Could not deploy application ", app
    dumpStack()
    # Connect to the administration server
    connect(name, password, protocol)
    # Open and start edit session
    edit()
    startEdit()
    # Call method
    deploy_myApp(cmd)
    # Save and activate changes
    save()
    activate(block="true")
    # End edit session and exit WLST.
    stopEdit()
    exit()
    I am trying to make the script as generic a possible. The problem I am facing is that the deploy method inside the deploy_myApp() function does not work or to be more accurate, it doesn't look like it even runs. The rest of the scripts seems to run fine. Anyone have any ideas? My initial thought was that the deploy() method does not like variables passed thru it but that seemed odd since the connect() method had no problems with it. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Edited by wellscx at 01/24/2008 11:58 AM

    I was able to fix this in the below method
    # Define method
    def deploy_myApp(cmd):
    try:
    #deploy(app,appPath , Server ,securityModel="DDOnly",block="true")
    #deploy("Operations","/beadev/wls920/applications/Operations.war","dstDevMS3",securityModel="DDOnly",block="true")
    #deploy(cmd)
    cmd # Old call
    print "Command inside the deploy_myApp() function: " + cmd
    exec(cmd) # New call
    except:
    print "Could not deploy application ", app
    dumpStack()
    I had to use the exec() method to actually run the contents of the "cmd" variable.

  • 11.1.1.7.1 wls install questions

    I have the following Questions/Comments related to the latest version of MapViewer Install on WebLogic/Windows Server (WLS ver 10.3.5.0)
    1. When installing MapViewer, the documentation suggests not needing to expand the ear file, but there is some question as to where to get an initial version of the MapViewerConfig.xml file. I assume you can pull if from the documentation, but shouldn't there be copy external to the ear file? (or do you copy it from the deployed version)
    2. Specifying the location of the MapViewerConfig.xml file. Section 1.4.2.1 suggest setting a property in the setDomainEvn.sh file. It is assumed that the windows equivalent file is "setDomainEnv.cmd". There is no "–Djava.awt.headless=true" property within the "setDomainEnv.cmd file. (note it is not contained within the setDomainEnv.sh in WLS ver 10.3.5.0 either. I successfully deployed this within the java options, but not exactly sure it is in the correct location.
    3. http://www.example.com:8888/mapviewer/omserver?getv=t returns Ver11_1_1_7_1_B130516 -- assume this works
    4. http://localhost:8888/mapviewer -- login works.
    5. http://localhost:8888/mapviewer/fsmc/tutorial/demos.html -- doesn't work. In reviewing the deployed version, no tutorial folder exists -- how do you get to the tutorials?
    6. When performing a MapViewer restart from within the Admin page, WLS provides an error stating that the mds.xml file was missing from the MapViewerConfig.xml folder. Should this file be there? This was not in the install instructions (to my knowledge).
    Thanks

    1. Yes we will bundle the config files (there are two now, mapViewerConfig.xml plus the new mds.xml file) and upload them to OTN for download in the next couple days. In the mean time you can unzip the mapviewer.ear and the web.war file inside it to a temp folder, then copy the two .xml files from the WEB-INF/conf/ directory to the folder of your choice.
    2. We will fix the doc with regard to the reference of -Djava.awt.headless; but it sounded like you were able to add the -Doracle.maps.config option to that file. To verify if this option was actually picked up and used by mapViewer, you can log into mapViewer's admin console, click Management then Configuration. On top of the configuration data, there is a File Location field which shows where the mapViewerConfig.xml file is being loaded.
    5. The new mapviewer.ear no longer ships any tutorial/demo/sample request or online API docs; all of those are now packaged into the separately deploy-able MVDEMO application (which you can download from the same OTN mapviewer site since version 11.1.1.7.1). This was mentioned in the 11.1.1.7 release note (http://download.oracle.com/otndocs/products/mapviewer/mapviewer_11p6_readme.txt).
    6. Please refer to 1 above about needing both .xml files (mds.xml and mapViewerConfig.xml) for mapviewer to function properly.
    thanks

  • Upgrading to  Mountain Lion Pre Install Questions

    HI:
      I will be installing Mountain Lion Next week.
    I have read through many of the turotrials and quired most of the following  I still have a few questions.
      I have some concerns in particular regarding the contents of my mail boxes and mail.
    I have backed up unto an external harddrive using time machine. When I click on the mail app I can't access it and see if the contents are there. I just get a window showing the specs.
      From what I have read all my documents applications and system info are backed up.
    1} Will the contents of Mail Inbox and personal Mail Boxes be either on the external drive or in Mail itself after I upgrade?
    2} Will I need to up grade iWork  and other Mac programs after the upgrade?
    3} Does time machines automatic backup, back up everything or do I need to do a manual back up for some thing?
    4} Will I need to load new drivers for external devices such as my printer and mouse?
    5} Will I need to reload third party soft ware such as Adobe Elements 9?
    6} Will my bookmarks and homepage be saved in Safari?
    Lot's of Questions, I have limited broad band width and will need to do most of this from a friends and internet cafes so I need to be prepared time wise and finanancialy as some things will have to be done at home and are going to push me into the next teir of my flex plan, possibly past the final teir.
    Any and all advice will be appreciated.
    Pantheria

    1. You have a backup of your mailboxes in Time Machine that you can restore, but Mail won't modify your mailboxes during the upgrade. The first time you open Mail after the upgrade, it will upgrade your mailboxes to be able to work with that new version.
    2. If you upgrade from Snow Leopard, you should know that there's a newer iWork '09 version for Lion and Mountain Lion that make it compatible with iCloud, so you will have to install updates for iWork at least. Respecting to other apps, you have to consult it with the developer.
    3. Time Machine makes a backup of everything in your OS X partition, and it makes automatic, hourly backups. If you want, you can also make a clone with Carbon Copy Cloner or Disk Utility's Restore feature in another external disk. The advantage is that you can start the Mac from it.
    4. Theoretically, Snow Leopard, Lion and Mountain Lion use the same printer drivers. Respecting to the mouse, if you are using a third-party mouse, you have to consult with the developer if your mouse is compatible with OS X Mountain Lion.
    5. Third-party apps won't be deleted unless they aren't compatible. See > http://www.roaringapps.com
    After downloading OS X Mountain Lion, I recommend you to make a bootable copy with Lion Diskmaker, so you won't have to download OS X Mountain Lion each time you have to reinstall OS X Mountain Lion

    I also have a Windows 7 Upgrade disk.
    From what I have read, the newest version of Bootcamp will not install XP, which I could then upgrade to W7 (I assume this is correct).
    Can I then install from the Windows 7 Upgrade disk and at some point indicate the XP Product Code?
    Secondary question - assuming I get Windows installed and running properly, if I boot to the Mac OS, can it see/access the Windows partition?
    Thanks,
    Steve

    If the Windows 7 Upgrade is a full install. What you would do is install, then reinstall over itself. And only then will it activate.
    There are upgrades that are to go from Home Premium to Pro and that isn't a full install.
    Windows 8 CP is free and works.
    Windows 7 System Builder are $99 for Home Premium 64-bit

    The WebLogic Server installation you have referred to in this link is the "developer" distribution which is a simple zip file distribution that has no installer. Putting "FMW" on top of this is not supported. This is documented in the readme on the download site: http://download.oracle.com/otn/nt/middleware/11g/wls/README.txt
    If you want to learn Oracle Forms, then you need to use a full installer of WebLogic Server.
    Try this page here: http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/middleware/weblogic/downloads/wls-main-097127.html and select the "Oracle WebLogic Server 11gR1 (10.3.4) + Coherence - Package Installer" for your specific platform:
    http://download.oracle.com/otn/nt/middleware/11g/wls/wls1034_win32.exe
    http://download.oracle.com/otn/linux/middleware/11g/wls/wls1034_linux32.bin
    http://download.oracle.com/otn/solaris/middleware/11g/wls/wls1034_solaris32.bin
    or the generic installer if you are not on one of those platforms:
    http://download.oracle.com/otn/nt/middleware/11g/wls/wls1034_generic.jar
    ** I don't know if WLS 10.3.4 is the correct version to go with the Forms/Reports installer, please check those details for yourself. But the process will be the same if WLS 10.3.3 is required per the certification.
