Check you license file and make sure it is not expired. Make sure you
have license file path in you classpath and then try dbping utility
before starting weblogic server to make sure your environment is set.
Thanks,

  • ORA-24327 error when trying to configure Oracle JDriver 2.0 on Commerce Server 3.5 SP1 on WLServer 6.0 SP2

    When I try to install and configure the Oracle JDriver v.2.0 to work with Commerce
    Server 3.5 SP1 and WebLogic Server 6.0 SP2, on starting up the commerce server,
    I get the exceptions that follow this message. I cannot run the dbping utility
    because it says it cannot find the BEA license file to verify that JDriver is
    licensed for use. I looked over previous discussion threads on this particular
    Oracle error, and the problem in the previous cases appears to have been use of
    the wrong TNS name. I am referencing the same TNS name that is in my server's
    tnsnames.ora file. I can connect to the database using SQLNet and the same connection
    parameters that I have set up in weblogic. My Oracle home directory is set to
    the directory just above the client install. I am trying to configure Commerce
    Server on a Sun SPARC system running Solaris 8. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Hi,
    I'm using Weblogic OCI driver to connect to Oracle 9.2.0.3 DB. WLS version

    Hi Mitesh,
    Thanks for your suggestion. Looks like ORACLE_HOME and ORACLE_BASE need to
    set in the $CLASSPATH variable. It's working now. Thanks once again.

    Also, use lib32 directory instead of $ORACLE_HOME/lib32:$ORACLE_HOME/lib

    Then try java utils.dbping oracle user passwd databasename to see if

    make sure you have entry in your tnsnames.ora file for the database.

  • ORA-24327 with OCI driver

    Hi,
    We noticed that when we use the OCI driver for Oracle 8.1.7, we cannot have
    an initial connection pool size greater than 249. On the 250th one, there is
    a DBMS exception (ORA-24327) and weblogic says that it cannot create the
    connection.
    If we move to the Thin driver, there is no longer this restriction and we've
    tried it with success with more than 550 connections.
    Anyone know any limitation about the OCI driver and if there is any
    parameter on the OCI driver side or on the DB side to tune so that we can
    have more than 249 connections in our pool ?
    FI, we have the following configuration (in config.xml) :
    <JDBCConnectionPool CapacityIncrement="5"
    Name="imJDBCConnectionPool" Targets="imadmin"
    DriverName="weblogic.jdbc.oci.Driver" URL="jdbc:weblogic:oracle"

    TestTableName="dual" RefreshMinutes="40"
    ShrinkingEnabled="false" ShrinkPeriodMinutes="15"

    Hi Vincent,
    Just for curiosity sake, what are you doing with 250 connections?
    It's not in the Cactus area, is it? :-)
    grin ;-)
    No, I'm currently working for a customer, doing some lab performance tests.
    We wanted to use the OCI driver for the TAF feature of OPS (transparent
    application failover) but found that the Thin driver is performing so much
    better that we have switched to using it along with the multipool feature of
    WebLogic. Hi. Beware of 'TAF'. Note that all cursors will be defunct on failover,
    so any JDBC statement or ResultSet in progress at the time of failover will
    be lost. (IE: not at all transparent).
    Joe
    We haven't done any failover test yet so we don't know yet how the
    multipool (with a 'load-balancing' strategy) perform upon failover of one
    instance. If it's ok we'll keep using the thin driver. If not, we'll switch
    back to OCI drivers and try the TAF feature.
    Also, I don't think we really need that big number of connections. It seems
    we had some other performance issue which the DB which was making us use
    lots of connections on the WL side. With the thin driver we're only using
    about 39-100 connections maximum with a thread count of 40 (that's because a
    given message does up to 3 SQL statements per transaction (and a connection
    is only effectively released in the pool after the commit)).
    I've introduced Cactus on the project, of course, but only for the unit
    tests (I'm also using Mock Objects) ... :-)

    We created 30 Initial Connections during startup which was successful. During Load test, there are many ORA-24327 errors started coming and we havenot reached the MaxCapacity (99). We did similar test couple of weeks back and not seen this error.
    Oracle is not of much help since we are using WebLogic OCI driver and not their drivers (thats what told). I read many papers and not found any info.
    Again, the application works and its able to make connections (NO problem with TNSNAMES.ORA file) and no error coming during startup.

    Oracle is almost never helpful.
    For stability and performance you should configure the pool
    to make all the connections you need at startup. Set initial capacity = max capacity.
    If the server boots fine, and creates all your connections, you should be OK, and
    run faster too. If it doesn't make all the connections, you are either over your
    Oracle license limit, or out of file descriptors in the OS process running the
    JVM. Oracle's OCI library is very wasteful of file descriptors (3 per connection)

    Just minutes ago I found the problem. It was
    caused from faulty documentation at:
    http://e-docs.bea.com/wlp/docs40/deploygd/oraclnew.htm
    The "set your properties to this" examples look like
    the following:
         user=@ORACLE_USER@;
         server=@ORACLE_NET_SERVICE_NAME@,
         weblogic.t3.waitForConnection=true;
         weblogic.t3.waitSecondsForConnection=999999999999,
         weblogic.jts.waitSecondsForConnectionSecs=999999999999,
         verbose=false
    I changed the @TAG@ parms correctly but note the inconsistent use of
    ',' vs. ';'
    Not knowing what was required I did what the doc told me to do
    and therefore screwed up my config.xml such that the server
    wouldn't boot.
    Every property should be semi-colon separated and not comma
    separated.
    The trailing comma on the server name was triggering an
    attempt to connect to "NCFEDB_D," (which is not in tnsnames.ora)
    rather than "NCFEDB_D".
    Just thought I reply to my own issue since it seems this
    problem is somewhat rampant on this newsgroup with no
    clear alternatives other than just the basic "verify your ORACLE_HOME"
    variable.

    Hi,
    I guess you can try some of these:
    - Make sure you're not missing an entry inside your tnsnames.ora file. Thin driver does not require the information inside that file, as opposed to Weblogic's OCI driver. If you are able to connect to the DB using a thin driver, then the problem is most probably (WL)driver-related.
    - Make sure you've properly configured the DB user / password inside your weblogic.properties (config.xml if WL6+).
    - Make sure you're able to access all drivers and classes required (PATH, CLASSPATH, etc...)
    - Make sure the OCI driver version you are using is fully compatible with the Oracle (server) version you are pointing to.
    - Try to access the DB user through some other client (for instance, SQLPlus*).
    Hope this is of some help,
    Freddy.

    Hi David,
    The driver for 9.2.0 is not yet out. You may want to use the thin driver.
    You can also request this driver by filling a support case.

    Hi,
    You need to set ORACLE_HOME environment variable correctly.
    Also make sure that there is an entry in tnsnames.ora that
    defines the server name provided in the connection pool
    definition.

    Also you don't have to have any additional 5.1.0 oracle kit here. WLS6.1
    bundles the oracle drivers and the necessary libraries. can you check if
    your path is pointing to the right bin folder for the 817 libraries.

    Thank you for your quick reply, Sree. Unfortunately, both the clientversion of

    In

    the service name is in the tsnames.ora file.
    What is puzzling is that we used this same connectionpool/datasource/oracle/weblogic
