WebServices and Java/Weblogic RPC Client
Hi,
I have a simple usability question :
- Where would I want to use a java client that invokes the (WebLogic) Webservice
using RPC/SOAP - especially the static client model?
- Probably the corollary to that would be - why wouldn't I simply invoke the ejb
using the EJB interface invocation?
In both cases, the information required by the developer to write the code is
same, the coding effort is same (only the Properties object being passed to obtain
the InitialContext is populated with different values) - and everything is hardcoded
i.e. no dynamic behavior advantage.
I ran some quick and dirty benchmarks and the webService client is slower than
the mundane ejb client to the order of magnitude of 1:4, 1:5. (duh .. xml!)
Two advantages that I can think of are :
- Because of HTTP, firewall/port issues may be circumvented when using WebServices.
- The thin client.jar maybe easier to distribute than weblogic.jar.
Shall deeply appreciate any insight to the utility from a business perspective
(read ~ convincing clients).
Thanks,
Ajay

SOAP, webservice and JAVA
Hi, all,
If there are two different business systems need to exchange data, after sending and receiving messages, they both have to update their database. Do you think directly using JDBC adapter to insert/update each other's tables is a secure and effient way? Or using JAVA/APAB proxy to send out data, then using SOAP adapter to receive the data, and then using Java program to update database is much better? Can anybody provide any sample scenario and Java programs for the later? Any comment will be highly appreciated!
MareaHi Marea,
I am slightly confused with your question... Anyways i have given you all the info regarding JDBC Adapter and how it actually works...
A JDBC sender adapter has 2 essential fields,
1. SQL Statement
2. Update Statement
Your SQL statement will contain your SELECT statement and once your SQL statement is executed, UPDATE statement is executed. This is done so that records that have been selected by the SQL statement should not be selected again as the JDBC sender adapter will poll over the database for every poll interval.
If you want to SELECT something from your Database, then you will have to go for a JDBC sender adapter.
But, if you want to insert/update your Database, then you can go for a JDBC receiver adapter.
Multiple insertions are possible for a JDBC receiver, but multiple Selection queries (different select queries) are not possible for a single JDBC sender adapter.
Just check these links to understand how JDBC adapters work,
If you wanna do update/insert you will have to follow the
<a href="http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04/helpdata/en/2e/96fd3f2d14e869e10000000a155106/content.htm">Document Formats for the Receiver JDBC Adapter</a>
For Configuring the Receiver JDBC Adapter refer:

To access any Database from XI, you will have to install the corresponding Driver on your XI server.

Calling a web service from a Java SOAP RPC client behind a firewall
Hi
I've generated java stubs for a web service developed under Workshop. I have tested
the service successfully when the web service is deployed on my "localhost" Weblogic7
server.
I have now deployed this service on a separate WL7 server outside our corporate
firewall and have changed the IP address in the ServiceLocator to that of the
new WL7 box.
Now when I run the test client, I get the following error:
java.net.NoRouteToHostException: Operation timed out: no further information
Does anyone know what I need to do to fix this?
ThanksI've solved this problem - setting up http.proxyHost system properties sorted it
out.

How to acheive that to send data via httpsoap request?? Since the we need to attach the response structure with image.
Anyone please give some idea or inputs..It will be helpfull..

Jdev webservice and java.util.Collection
Hi,
i write a web service based on an stateless
session EJB i have 2 method who return double
and they work fine.
But i have added a method who return a Collection and
when i try to regenerate my web service i got
a message error because the return type does not
have an xml chema mapping and/or serializer
specified.
How can i fix this problem ?
I use jdev 9.0.5.2 and oracle 9ias 9.0.4.1.
Thank you for your help.I'm not a WS PM, but I think the problem here is that a java.util.Collection is a supported type for WS based on the 904 release. From what I remember the supported types are the Java primitives, their wrappers (ie java.lang.Long), java.lang.String, arrays of these and JavaBeans which have fields of these types.
I think if you want to use Collections then you need to use the JAX-RPC enabled Web Services which we provide in the 10.1.3 releases of JDev and OC4J.
cheers

AJAX producer/consumer and JAVA producer/consumer in same project
I've already successfully integrated and customized the code for both an AJAX and JAVA producer/consumer client in JMS (using ActiveMQ as the JMS broker and Tomcat as the webapp container). While both have been working well in separate projects, unfortunately, I'm having a bit of trouble trying to integrate them for the purpose of running an AJAX message listener and JAVA message listener in the same project.
What I'm trying to do is have JAVA act as the failover for when the AJAX JMS consumer is not listening (i.e. when the browser is closed). When a browser client opens, the (constantly running) JAVA client can ignore the messages... but... when no browser client is initialized, the JAVA client should respond to the messages on behalf of the AJAX client.
I've tried using a ServletContextListener pattern, which I was hoping would "automagically" launch the JAVA listener via its main method, whenever the Servlet gets initialized (i.e. it would auto-start when Tomcat gets restarted, or, anytime the Servlet gets redeployed) but it seems Tomcat is not thread-safe and this might be causing some problems.
In any case, I can't seem to get the JAVA client to reliably start running and stay running for the lifetime of my AJAX client (webapp .war), and without including them in the same project and same J2EE container sharing the same ServletContext, I don't know how its possible to ensure they are running and starting and stopping at the same time.
Is there perhaps a better way to accomplish this?

Hi Folks,
I have been stuck with this issue for quite sometime now. I have developed a simple webservice using a java class. It looks something like this..
public class ReceiveMessageClass{
public void receiveMessage(String msg){
logIt(msg);
//Store 'msg' in a memory variable so that the JSP can ping it every 10 sec and read it..
}Now, I need a webpage to look at all the messages I recieve at this webservice. Sounds pretty easy? I have done this with Axis. I can create a WAR and my webservice and my JSP can co-exist and share a variable in memory. But with weblogic, a EAR is created and I am not sure how to get my JSP into the EAR. I am not sure how I can store this 'msg' into memory(some static vbl) and then have my JSP read it and display it.
Any suggestions?I do not see any weblogic classes in the stack trace. So could this
be something to do with tomcat?
If you are just using the client side of the web services stack, you
only need the Client.jar and webserviceclient.jar file in your war.

Hi Forum:
i want to explain you my problem i created a webservice with JDeveloper 10.1.3, and run perfectly but when i want to run it in another IDE i copied the codes to a another IDE and run perfectly in a simple java project in my different IDE but when i putted the code in a web application in another web server differente to the oracle i got this error message
vax.xml.rpc.ServiceException: java.lang.ClassNotFoundException: com.sun.xml.rpc.client.ServiceFactoryImpl ------------------------- Loader Info ------------------------- ClassLoader name:
i dont know whats happening and is so strange because i make one simple java project in eclipse and i copied the codes and works fine, but in a web application i cant run it.
I also founded it the jar to this class com.sun.xml.rpc.client.ServiceFactoryImpl
but doesnt work
Can somebody help me, please?.. i really need it..
thnks
joshuaIt usually means that a JAR in which the class file resides is not included in the web-app or is not on the classpath. Had the same problem with the last Eclipse/WebLogic project where JAR files, in which class files resided on which other class files were dependent, were missing.

Visual Studio download a document from a document libary and upload it to a jaxrs webservice in java
I have created a custom ribbon action and a application page in visual studio. The user
presses my ribbon in sharepoint and it calls the application page that in turn downloads that file. here is the code:
namespace Save_to_PLM.Layouts.Save_to_PLM
public partial class ApplicationPage : LayoutsPageBase
protected void Page_Load(object sender, EventArgs e)
if (Request.QueryString["file"] != null)
DownloadDocument(Request.QueryString["file"].ToString());
private void DownloadDocument(string fileName)
SPSecurity.RunWithElevatedPrivileges(delegate()
using (SPSite oSiteCollection = new SPSite(SPContext.Current.Site.Url))
using (SPWeb mi_web = oSiteCollection.OpenWeb())
string path = System.Web.HttpContext.Current.Server.MapPath(fileName);
string name = System.IO.Path.GetFileName(path);
Console.WriteLine(name);
Microsoft.SharePoint.SPFile spFile = mi_web.GetFile(fileName);
Response.ClearHeaders();
Response.ClearContent();
Response.ContentType = "application/force-download";
Response.AppendHeader("content-disposition", "attachment; filename=" + name);
Response.BinaryWrite(spFile.OpenBinary());
Response.End();
But i want to http post that file to my jaxrs webservice in java. How do i do that
programmatically? I am very new .net i usually code in java.Hi,
Here is a blog about how to call a Java EE Web Service from a .Net Client for your reference:
http://blogs.msdn.com/b/bursteg/archive/2008/07/19/how-to-call-a-java-ee-web-service-from-a-net-client.aspx
If you want to download a document from a Sharepoint library, we can use the REST API provided by SharePoint and use Apache HttpComponents in Java.
http://www.rgagnon.com/javadetails/java-get-document-sharepoint-library.html
About how to upload file using jaxrs webservice in C# code, I suggest you post it to C# or ASP.Net Forum, you will get more help and confirmed answers from there.

WebLogic Test Client, throws java.lang.NoSuchMethodException
In weblogic server 10.3, the WebLogic Test Client, throws java.lang.NoSuchMethodException for “any” soap fault message from the web service.
In Detail:
Our web services uses JAX-WS spec and are deployed in WebLogic server 10.3.The web service ear file is generated using standard ant utility. We are using “WebLogic Test Client” available through WebLogic server administration console .The issue is, for “any” soap fault message from the web service, the test client generates “java.lang.NoSuchMethodException:” . The key point is we are creating this class. We are not using our own client. WebLogic Test Client 's service response section has the following stack trace.

</S:Envelope>Thanks for your assistance. Here is the log from weblogic. You may find "xxx" and "yyy" terms. these are given to our specific project oriented names. If you need any further info please let me know. Again a brief about the issue. when the service returns a fault soap message, the server trying to set the error code in a class generated by it's own where the method is not avilable. this happens for all fault soap message. In case of right response from the service no issues. all are working fine.
Note: Max 3000 characters are allowed to post. so truncating initial stack trace.

I need to develop a JAX-RPC client for a VB6.0 WebService (the WebService being generated through MS SoapToolkit3.0).
I'm using JWSDP 1.0_01. The WSDL that the JWSDP is using to generate the stubs is the one generated by the MS SoapToolkit. My WebService
has only one method (Public Test(xpto As String)As String) that receives and returns a string.
So what's the problem:
- JAX-RPC client sends a SOAP packet different than what the WebService expects, especially in the namespaces. JAX-RPC generates some strange namespaces, like xmlns:ns0="xpto" (xpto is the name of the argument of the WebService) or xmlns:ns1="Result xpto"
- Looking at the JAX-RPC generated WebService interface, I see that instead of String, the method test receives a StringHolder (???). What's a string holder, and why isn't a String?
The resumed message returned by the WebService:
<mserror:description>WSDLReader:None of the matching operations for soapAction http://tempuri.org/Test/action/WS.Test could successfully load the incoming request. Potential typemapper problem HRESULT=0x80070057: The parameter is incorrect.
- Server:One of the parameters supplied is invalid. HRESULT=0x80070057: The parameter is incorrect.
</mserror:description>
Any help would be apreciated.
ThanksCan you send the WSDL that you used to generate the JAXRPC client?
Thanks
