Website deleted on iWeb

Hi I hope someone can help!
I created a website on iWeb and saved it as an extra folder on my computer.
Just now I installed a new template and when I opened iWeb again, my website was not there anymore.
How can I get it back?
Can one open the saved folder in iWeb??
Thanks for any help! It would be a disaster, if I would have to create the whole website new again!

Welcome to the discussions. No — only iWeb's key Domain file can be opened in iWeb. Your sites should still be on your Mac — use Spotlight to search for the Domain file's usually hidden file extension:
.sites2
Or restore the Domain file from your backup — either Time Machine or...

That's what making backups is intended to avoid.

  • How can i delete a website made in iWeb from MobileMe but not from iWeb

    The problem is that I have made changes to several pages (almost all of them) on my site and since the changes my site no longer displays correctly in Internet Explorer.
    I have looked in the IE CSS file and the CSS file for IE is completely messed up and would take a long time to correct by correcting the code for every page, so I decided just to delete the whole site from MobileMe and then republish it as a new site, rather then as an altered site.
    The problem is I don't want to delete the site from iWeb, because it has took me months to build it and I don't want to have to start again. I just want to delete the site from MobileMe, so I can republish it as a new site (and hopefully correct the screwed up code).
    So how can I delete a website created in iWeb and published on MobileMe from MobileMe without deleting it from iWeb.
    Huge thanks
    Jay

    Hey thanks for your reply, unfortunately I have already tried to delete my site from iDisk >> Web >> Sites. But it said that i didn't have permission and it wouldn't delete the files.
    I am loged in as an Admin and I still cant delete them
    Thanks again

  • Modification to a WebSite by using IWeb

    Hope somebody will be able to help me. I have to modify information on a website. My question, how to do the modifications by using Iweb. Thank you.

    Welcome to the Apple Discussions. Was the website created with iWeb. If not then there's no way to make modifications to it.
    If iWeb was used to create the web site then you should be able to launch iWeb, make the changes and publish them.

    You need the Domain.sites2 file that's located in your Users/Home/Library/Application Support/iWeb folder in order to be able to manage and publish the site from another computer?
    Do you have that file? If you do copy it to the same folder on the other computer and you're ready to go.
    If not then you'll have to recreate the site from scratch.  Chapter 2.3 on the iWeb FAQ.org site has tips on using some of the existing files, image, audio, video, etc., from the published site in the recreation of the site. 1

    I am wanting to publish a website created in iweb via a third party web host. How do I put a password for anyone wishing to visit the mysite?

    You create the usernames and passwords where you host your website. Made with or without iWeb.
    Usually it's done in the controlpanel where you manage your account.
    If you cannot do it there, you'll have to do it yourself. See this post :

    And what is the purpose of password protection for ANYONE who vistis your site?

    My website created with Iweb and hosted on mobileMe is not uploading well on all computers. What could be the problem ?

    I got a chance to look at it on a PC.  Totally hosed up. It loads incorrectly then parts of it go blank.
    I have a site that is based very much on one of the built-in templates and it works fine on the same PC.  It contains only text boxes, image placeholders, and images with "picture frame" borders.  Nothing fancy, no overlays, no extra code or anything. I haven't looked much at the other templates so I don't know if yours is mostly a template or how much you may have modified one or what tricks you may have done to get the look you wanted.  Whatever it is, IE does not like it.  Unfortunately, you can't really ignore them as was suggested; they make up a large part of your audience.

  • HOW TO PUBLISH YOUR WEBSITE ..FROM IWEB ..WHEN I USE TO USE MOBILE ME .. BUT NOW THERE IS NO MOBILE ME BECAUSE OF ICLOUD, AND ICLOUD DOESN'T SUPPORT IWEB PUBLISHING?

    HOW TO PUBLISH YOUR WEBSITE ..FROM IWEB ..WHEN I USE TO USE MOBILE ME .. BUT NOW THERE IS NO MOBILE ME BECAUSE OF ICLOUD, AND ICLOUD DOESN'T SUPPORT IWEB PUBLISHING?

    When MobileMe goes down the drain, you will need to move your website to standard hosting. Depending on your site size, I recommend A Small Orange, as the Tiny hosting plan they have is big enough for most iWeb sites and much cheaper then shelling out $6 a month for most of the other big names, and if you check out their forum, several of the members have coupon codes in thier signatures. Also, their customer service is great and very fast in getting back to you.
    To upload, I publish the iWeb site to a folder, then using Cyberduck upload it to the host. Cyberduck beats iWeb's FTP uploader because Cyberduck only replaces updated pages, instead of uploading the entire site.
    I hope this helps!

  • What happens to my websites created in iWeb when iCloud replaces IWeb (Rumoured)?...

    What happens to my websites created in iWeb when iCloud replaces IWeb as is rumoured... they will be lost?

    To tell you te truth We should should've all expected this...
    With no new updates to iWeb in a good couple of years, even though it's an amazing piece of software enjoyed by million. It upsets me no end to see apple continually doing this and what have they done exactly? Left goodness knows how many customers worried and uncertain about a product they love and rely on, I do anyway.
    One of the main reasons I have a Mac isn't only the build quality and the OS, although that does have a fair amount to do with it. The main reason for me moving to Apple and investing in a machine all those years ago was iWeb, being a creative control freak, I love to be able to get out my Mac, open iWeb and in minutes create a new launch page for a new mix, upgrade some of my services a customers asked for, recreate any aspect of how I present myself to people at a click of a button... I know you can upload to FTP server but phooey, why damage a good thing.
    This as annoyed me no end... so I'll not doubt I'll be taking it out on an Apple employee tomorrow when I take back my blown power pack for my MacBook pro, my third one in 8 months... I sign of the way apple is going?
    PS as for iOS 5 ... Seriously underwhelmed, we've been given features 90% of which should have been launched in iOS3!.. Oh, although I can't handle windows anymore, have you see. The new Windows 8 layer? Watch out Apple, he's behind you

  • Unable to view error for website created on iWeb

    We have hosted a website created on iWeb. When we access the site we often get the following error message. We contacted the hosting company, but they asked us to make the changes on the web pages as suggested in this error message in order to be able to view the actual error. Only then will they be able to help us out. Can someone help us incorporate these changes in our web pages.
    Thanks

    Server Error in '/' Application.
    Runtime Error
    Description: An application error occurred on the server. The current custom error settings for this application prevent the details of the application error from being viewed remotely (for security reasons). It could, however, be viewed by browsers running on the local server machine.
    Details: To enable the details of this specific error message to be viewable on remote machines, please create a <customErrors> tag within a "web.config" configuration file located in the root directory of the current web application. This <customErrors> tag should then have its "mode" attribute set to "Off".
    <!-- Web.Config Configuration File -->
    <configuration>
    <system.web>
    <customErrors mode="Off"/>
    </system.web>
    </configuration>
    Notes: The current error page you are seeing can be replaced by a custom error page by modifying the "defaultRedirect" attribute of the application's <customErrors> configuration tag to point to a custom error page URL.
    <!-- Web.Config Configuration File -->
    <configuration>
    <system.web>
    <customErrors mode="RemoteOnly" defaultRedirect="mycustompage.htm"/>
    </system.web>
    </configuration>

    In my first posting (just below my name) I've quoted the entire content of the error message that pops up. But it only pops on certain occasions, it doesn't happen every time. The other curious fact is that this message does not give you the actual error. It only tells you to make certain changes in your script so that you can view the error remotely. Therefore, until we are able to make these changes in the script or html code for the web page, we won't be able to know the actual error. When I tried to view the code or script of my web page, I didn't find a place where I could make these changes. Can you help me in this respect?
    BTW I was trying to study the pattern of these error messages and I think I've found a correlation. However, I'm not sure if that could be a valid reason. It seems like every time I update my website, people get these error messages until about 3-6 hours after each of these updates. Once a reasonable time has elapsed after the update, the site seems to be working fine. Could it be due to a conflict between the older & newer versions of the web page being simultaneously resident on the site for a while after the update. Or could it be due to the change in the index file? Pl comment.
    Thanks

  • I just deleted my iWeb cuz it won't open

    How do I download again? I'm talking about the free version that comes with the computer, not the one that you have to purchase (iWeb '09).

    If it came with the computer it will be on the disks that came with the computer:
    Click to view full size
    Look for the "Install bundled software" installer and use it.
    Before you delete the application again try deleting the iWeb preference file, com.apple.iWeb.plist, that resides in your User/Library/Preferences folder first. Most of the time it's something other than the application that causes the problem.

  • Can't update my website after last iweb update

    Okay, since I installed the last iWeb update, I have not been able to udate my website. It was working prior to the update. Now when I make changes to my pages in iWeb and publish it, the website pages are not updated when I visit. Anyone experiencing this? I've looked everywhere to figure out the problem and I am stumped.

    I have the same problem since updating to iWeb 2.04. I can't publish to a folder on my computer either. I've tried all kinds of troubleshooting steps: reinstalling iWeb, trashing caches and preferences, System Archive and Install, permissions repair, you name it. This has really shaken my confidence in Mobile Me as a reliable place host a website. Because iWeb won't let me publish to a folder as well as Mobile Me I can't even update the existing site files on my hard drive and use an FTP application to move them to another host site.
    Does anyone know what the folder configuration in MobileMe is supposed to look like? I mine, there is a folder for "sites" with nothing in it. There is an iWeb folder with a sites folder in it too. There are files in there but I can't update them. Another strange thing is though I have two sites only some of the files from the second site show in Mobile Me.
    I'm sure Apple is trying to fix these problems but I don't think they even know what the problem is yet. Meanwhile, we have to spend valuable time on this thing, and we're stuck because we use iWeb instead of a more main stream web page creation package.
    I suppose there is a lesson in there for anyone who relies on their web site for their career and income.
