Websphere 4.0.4 crash on heavy load after solaris 8 upgrade

We have our application running on solaris 8 with websphere 4.0.4 and IBM HTTP Server. Things seem to be fine since one year. We recetly went with a solaris patch upgrade (may 2005) applying
108528-29 SunOS 5.8: kernel update and Apache patch
116973-01 SunOS 5.8: Apache Patch
Since than websphere is crashing with the following error

Not sure if the solaris patch has caused it.
Any suggestions will be very helpful.

No specific ideas but take a look at this trouble-shooting article.
You could try trashing the preferences again as described in it and if that does no good it might be worth uninstalling it exactly as described and reinstalling .

  • MAIL failure to load after Lion upgrade - can't migrate data

I've posted information in a different forum, but I think that thread is dead so I wanted to post a fresh issue.
    Here's the older post: https://discussions.apple.com/message/16615578#16615578
Bascially, Mail won't migrate my data and it crashes before fully loading.
    Summary from other thread:
    - mail finishes inporting messages but then crashes when it hits the migration stage
    - same issue after a fresh install and as a fully updated version
    - did resert PRAM
    - tried tossing Envelope files
    - tried tossing V folder
    - I tried one work around to test it and it worked, but it's a BAD alternative. I can move my Mail folder out of my library and re-open Mail. This starts with a clean slate. I added my Exchange/IMAP account to test. I'm sure I can import mailboxes one at a time. But I tried moving my signatures and that doesn't work. I may to do this option, but I'm worried that I will lose all the rules I developed over the last 6-7 years (approx?) adn signatures for each account.
    - error log is on the link above
I would appreciate some help on this issue before I manually add all my emails. I have 140,000 emails in many folders from the last 10 years and it's not something I want to lose or have disorganize (including rules/signatures).

    Problem Solved!
One of my mailboxes must have been corrupt in the migration phase or have some bad data.
Here's what I did to fix my Mail:
    - all mail messages loading, but then it crashed during migration. This stage of the installation means that the "Envelope Index" file completes writing and a "V2-Temp.noindex" folder is created. This folder is used to build the mailbox environment.
    - I checked the V2temp folder to see what transfered before crash and found that one of my old IMAP accounts was only halfed transferred in the temp folder.
    - I tossed Envelope Index (and other "Envelope" named files) and V2-Temp.noindex into the trash
    - I tossed the problem IMAP folder in the trash too (well actually to the desktop)
    - I tossed out all the CalDAV crap.
    - I relaunched and the folders, emails, signatures, rules, accounts all migrated properly after the mail databasr was imported to the new folder "V2"!
    - A "Mail Lost+Found" folder was also created that I havent investigated yet.
    Coming up next:
    - a full backup of Mail!

  • Mainstage always crashes before even start after I upgraded to OSX Mountain Lion. Doesn't matter if I use 32bit or 64bit mode. What to do? I bought Logic Studio 9 as a hard box at a retail store (including Logic Pro 9, Mainstage, Soundtrack Pro, Compresso

Mainstage always crashes after I upgraded to OSX Mountain Lion. Doesn't matter if I choose 32bit or 64bit mode. I sent all the error reports to Apple but no help from there. I heard rumours that Mountain Lion creates the problem. With Lion I had no problem. Logic Pro runs without issues. So what can I do now? Do I have to reinstall Logic Studio and then download all the updates again? Hopefully not.. Any advice? Thanks to all! Ben

    Try delete the mainstage preferences
    from USER/library/preferences   com.apple.mainstage.plist
even if you are running mainstage 2.1.3 and not 2.2.2  it should work with mountain lion

  • Firefox 3.6.3 crashes on heavy load / certain websites

Lots of times i found myself with 5 tabs opened. It's not even much...
Anyway, Firefox crashes lots of times with sites that present 404 or DNS errors... I used Firefox for a long time and this is the buggiest release by far... I hope those bugs will be fixed ASAP ;)
P.S. Sorry, the troubleshooting infos are in Italian :(

    Hi.
You may be having a problem with some extension or plugin that is hindering your Firefox's normal behavior. Have you tried disabling all add-ons (just to check), to see if Firefox goes back to normal?
If your issues are related to unusual amounts of RAM or CPU cycles usage, then you need to diagnose what your exact problem is. Do this:
    #run Firefox in safe-mode to disable all extensions and plugins. If this fixes your issues, be them with RAM or CPU usage, then you know it's a problem with plugins or extensions. Proceed to number 2. If safe-mode doesn't fix the issues, then read bellow, after this list;
    #update all extensions and plugins in your Firefox. If this doesn't solve the issues, proceed to the following number;
#disable all extensions and plugins in your Firefox (not running safe-mode). Being certain that, as in safe-mode, the problems you're having have gone away, enable one plugin at a time. You should be certain that you WANT that plugin to be enabled, so keep your overall number of plugins as low as possible. When you encounter the problems, you know you've found a problematic plugin, so disable it for good. Keep enabling all plugins (except problematic ones) until you've gone through them all.
    #enable one extension at a time. Again, be certain that you WANT that extension to be enabled, so keep your overall number of extensions as low as possible. When you encounter the problems, you know you've found a problematic extension, so disable it for good. Keep enabling all your extensions (except problematic ones) until you've gone through them all;
#you're done! You've fixed your problems with problematic add-ons.
Ok, if disabling all extensions and plugins through safe-mode didn't work to bring Firefox's CPU and RAM usage to good levels, then you have different issue. The most likely scenario is that you have a third party software running on your computer that is messing with Firefox. Do as follows:
    #do a virus/malware check on your computer. If this doesn't fix it, proceed;
    #disable all software running in the background that you don't want to have running in the background (in windows, this is done by pressing WINDOWS+R in your keyboard, typing "msconfig" (without the commas) and pressing enter. Now, under the "Startup" tab, you can uncheck the software you don't want, and reboot your system for changes to take effect. If you're unsure of what software you want running, ask someone with more experience). If this doesn't fix your issues with Firefox, proceed;
    #check your firewall/antivirus/security suite for enabled functions/features that you don't want and/or may be conflicting with Firefox. You'll find that these features are most likely tied to Internet Security features, such as link scanners or URL checkers and the like. If you're not sure they are conflicting with Firefox, simply try to disable them to see whether or not that's true. As long as you don't browse the web with your antivirus completely off and your firewall completely turned off, there should be no problems. If this doesn't solve the issues, proceed to the following number;
#check your operating system security options, mainly advanced options that are not configured by default. While it's very unlikely that this may be the cause of the problem (after all, it's the last item on the list), it's remotely possible. If this doesn't do it, I'm out of ideas. Except make sure you've followed my instructions correctly.

  • Finder slowing and crashing under heavy load

I have a new DIY webcam security system that snaps a still photo from a webcam at the rate of 1/sec and saves the stills to a folder.  Unfortunately I haven't yet discovered a way to have it automatically create a new folder for each hour or day, so it's dropping image files into the folder at the rate of 86400 per day.  After three weeks I thought I should probably go purge the old photos, and went in to discover, after about three minutes of the window loading the file list, that I have 1.5 million photos in the folder.  wow, ok, but I was sure the limit was much higher.
And it is. In fact from what I gather there is no limit, in theory.  But one entry I found on macosxhints did note:
Yeah but there are Different Levels of p*ss*d off for Number of Files Per folder.
Somewhere between 30,000 and 36,000 per folder and Boom.
And it appears I'm way over that limit.  Every effort I've made to get in and purge the photos older than one week has resulted in numerous slowdowns and hangs.  I left it trying to move about half the files for three hours with no visible progress.  Then forced it to quit and tried a quarter of the files.  Same, again and again.  I can't even delete 10 files at once.  The only thing that works is deleting one file at a time, and that takes about 30 seconds to complete.  I found a service called Delete Immediately to try and bypass the trash.  It hangs.  I've tried deleting from another Mac and it hangs.  It seems theres nothing I can do to empty the folder.  And now the Finder is burning CPU all over the place.  I troubleshot the console messages, and even reinstalled 10.9.  It seems I've just created a black hole.
So my question is, is this expected behavior?  Is there any solution to this?  I'd like to be able to delete some (haha - a million or so) files from the folder on a regular basis without having to delete the whole folder (which is still going to take a while if I send it to the trash).
    Thanks a bunch,  Rob

oops, how do I unmark a correct answer?  The link from the notification email is so big and green I just went for it.  I guess you get the points for being the only one who cares.
I guess I still haven't figured out if there is a practical limit to the number of files in a folder.  Perhaps depends on the machine.
I need to keep some of the files for a few days, so I can't just -rm them.  The whole problem will continue happening if I don't babysit the folder everyday.
I finally did delete the whole folder and start over.  I'm experimenting with a few Automator scripts attached to a Calendar Alarm to see if I can automatically move the files nightly.
    I still haven't

  • Safari crashes on first load after boot.

Hi, I've been having this issue with Safari for a few weeks now. Whenever I open Safari for the first time, after booting the computer up, the program loads my front page, and then freezes as soon as I try to open top sites, go to a bookmark, anything of the sort. It doesn't "un-freeze" itself if given time, but if I force quit and re-open the program, it runs perfectly, and continues to do so until the next reboot.
I've noticed that the issue seems to be unrelated to anything that would seem to make sense - whether I've just booted the computer up and it's the first thing I've opened, or whether I've had the computer on for hours and have been using other applications, from Photoshop to Firefox. It's also done this across multiple updates of the program.
Has anybody else encountered this issue? It's not much more than an annoyance, but it bothers me that such a problem could be indicative of something more serious.

    Hi
    Welcome to Apple Discussions
Not sure about a "known bug" - that's really for the engineers in Cupertino to chew on. However, do send feedback to Apple via the Safari Menu>Report Bugs to Apple referencing your thread.

  • USB device never loads after Yosemite upgrade

I used the profiler and it shows the camera (my canon) but i can't access it. Doesn't show up on the desktop. Doesn't allow me to import via iPhoto. No way to access my own camera and the files inside it.
    • MacBook Pro 13", mid 2012
    • digital canon rebel SLR
    I tried:
    • restarting
    • installing the iPhoto Library Upgrader (and ran it)
    • viewing hidden files to manually move the photos
It sits at this screen indefinitely.
Thank you sincerely for any help offered.

Image capture acts in a similar manner to iphoto. loading wheel thing spinning forever.  lovely.
I'm thinking my camera is no longer supported. what a pile of horse shizzle.
i'm going to have to resurrect an ancient imac and import. Thanks so much for your help. I can't believe apple would do this.
from all the reliableness they've always grandfathered stuff in. i can't believe it.

  • Content of old emails will not load after Yosemite upgrade

I recently installed Yosemite. All my old emails are still there, listed under the 'Sort by date' column, with sender, subject and the first few words showing.  but the content will not load. New emails are downloading and content showing fine. I have played around with all the settings in Mail Preferences Viewing  — download remote content etc — but nothing seems to work. I have also run "Verify Permissions", with no luck.  If I search for something through the Finder, and what I am searching for appears in an email, I can pull up the email that way and all the content loads fine. So the content is all there. It is just not showing up through Apple Mail. Any ideas?

Check the Ask before closing setting in the Terminal preferences dialog.

  • Mail font not loading after OSX upgrade

The recipient header name font isn't loading properly in the main pane, even though the same font is used within the message. It's impossible to see who the message is from as it is showing as unicode random letters and numbers. If I click on the message the name shows fine. Help!

    Hi Tom
Thanks so much for responding. I have done a safe reboot and it seems to have fixed the problem, whatever it was?!

  • After Effects does not load after any upgrade.

Every upgrade causes After Effects to stop loading properly.  It gives error messages.  I have contacted support on this on at least two occasions.  The technician fixed the problem but it recurs with every update, either Adobe or Nvidia updates.  This happens consistently.  It seems to me that a consistent problem is one that can be isolated and fixed, yet this has not happened.
    Very annoying.
    With hopeful respect,
    Dr. Ken Larsen

Without system information nobody can even begin to help you. Based on your description you seem to not be installing updates with sufficient user privileges and your system gets stuck on installs that technically never finish or system restore is rolling back files. anyway, as I said, we need a lot more info.

  • How do you get all phones to pick up a new tftp load after an upgrade on CUCM 8.5?

I have 2800 phones that need to get a new phone load.  Will they keep trying to get the new load?  What is the time out and can it be reset to longer?

As long as the phones are not hardcoded at the device level with an older load then they will upgrade (assuming the current load is compatible) when they are reset.  It sounds like you are more concerned about all the phones rebooting at once.  If that's the case then you will need a way to reboot subsets of phones in an orderly fashion.  At NetCraftsmen, we use a custom script to do this which pulls IP phone registrations and sort them in a way that makes sense for the customer environment.  The end result is we use BAT to reset groups of phones in a controlled manner to control the upgrade and load on the TFTP servers, etc.  As noted before, you can do this via Device Pools, device types, or you can also sort out some custom BAT files to do the same on your own.  The only caveat is that any phone that gets reset in the interim (whether from CUCM or otherwise) will upgrade either way.

  • ITunes won't load after recent upgrade

I see I'm not the only one with this problem. I've been through the FAQ and removed and downloaded iTunes and Quicktime separately multiple times, but iTunes won't load. It will be difficult to buy more songs like this.
I've a Sigma Tel Audio driver installed by Dell. I'm running McAfee anti virus. Let me know what other info will help somebody to help me solve this.
    Thanks.

    a few questions before proceeding.
are you getting an error message? if so, what does it say? include error message numbers if you're getting any.
or are you getting no error messages whatsoever when you try to launch itunes?
if no error message, a few more preliminary questions aimed at narrowing in on possible culprits.
    (1) do you have Norton Internet Security 2005 installed on the PC?
    (2) try launching your QuickTime. does it:
    (a) launch perfectly fine?
    (b) fail to launch with an error message? (if so, what does it say?)
    (c) exhibit other peculiar behavior? (if so, could you describe it for us?)
    (3) reboot the PC. bring up your Task Manager, and click on the "Processes" tab. now try to launch itunes again.
does an "itunes.exe" process appear in the Processes tab? if so, does it persist in there or does it disappear after a few seconds?

  • Why is aperture crashing on my iMAC after Ram upgrade?

I have recently upgraded the Ram on my Apple iMac and everything seems to be working fine except Aperture, which keeps crashing. Should I reinstall it? If so how? It is showing as installed on my purchases and the box is greyed out.

Should I reinstall it? If so how?
Before reinstalling, check, if it is a system wide issue and try to narrow down the problem.
Is Aperture still crashing, if you are creating a new Aperture library and import a few test images?
Is Aperture still crashing, if you are launching it with the Shift key held down?
Is Aperture still crashing, when working from a different user account?
If  Aperture is working fine in any of these situations, the problem is with your Aperture library or settings /installations in your user account, and reinstalling Aperure should not be necessary.
Then post back please with your test results, and also your Aperture version number and how you bought Aperture, from the Mac App Store or a boxed Retail version?

  • Atv2 crashes playing HD content after latest upgrade

Updated my ATV2 to the newest iteration of the OS, and now it seems to crash and reboot when I attempt to play HD material. Haven't experienced it with other services (like Netflix), only with content streamed from iTunes. This happens with material that was downloaded from iTunes and previously played without incident.
I stream over wifi using an AirPort Extreme.
    Anyone else experiencing this?

OK, I solved it -- sorry for the false alarm guys
Here's what happened. I keep my iTunes library on a server and have iTunes point to that location for the contents of the library. We took a power hit this morning and it looks like iTunes rebooted before the server completed its reboot. iTunes then changed the location of the library to my local hard drive -- where no media is stored.
Once I set the library pointer back to the server, all the media reappeared after a library consolidation.
So, how was I streaming music purchased on iTunes if iTunes had "lost" the location of my library? Looks like the ATV was streaming iTunes purchases from the cloud.
    Thanks vazandrew.

  • High load after ACE upgrade

We have seen a steep increase in CPU usage, roughly 10 hours after upgrading an ACE to a newer os image. We have seen this exact behavior with different software versions (going to A4(1.1) and more recently going to A4(2.2)) and different ACEs in different customer environments. Although this is not really a problem, the load always returns to normal after a number of hours, I would like to understand what is going on.
    Does anyone know?
