Weird syslog message format

I'm running syslog daemon on Solaris 7. It can receive cisco devices log, but the message format is a little bit strange
[server time-stamp] [X.X.X.X.Y.Y] [cisco log message]
where X.X.X.X is the device IP address and Y.Y is random number.
What cause syslog add Y.Y number to the device IP address?

That should be the port in octet form, with [x.x.x.x.y1.y2] you get the port with: (y1*256)+y2
This seems to be a Solaris specific behavior when it doesn't find the hostname (DNS and /etc/hosts) it uses this format.

Receive syslog messages from remote system

I want to replace my ancient and aging Slackware 12.0 server with an Arch server. One of the hurdles is to receive syslog messages (UDP/IP, port 514) over the network from a Cisco 678 DSL modem/router, and from a DD-WRT based wireless access point.
How do I go about getting a systemd-based Arch server to receive syslog-formatted messages from the network on UDP port 514?
I'm not looking to view the Arch system's journal over the network, but rather to receive non-local messages and log them.

WonderWoofy: I hope you mean "man systemd-journal-gatewayd", as I find that man page, but not "systemd-journal-gateway". systemd-journal-gatewayd works the other way. According to the man page it "serves journal events over the network. Clients must connect using HTTP."
sbmomeni: I agree that your reference says the systemd journal provides the same function - but how? And does "this functionality" refer to the logging part of syslog-ng, or to the receiving messages from other machines part?

How do I get syslog messages from an AP350 sent to my Ciscoworks2000?

I am running Ciscoworks2000 and trying to get my Access Point's to send messages to the RME. I have enabled SNMP and created user's with the correct SNMP strings? Any help in getting as much information from the AP's to Ciscoworks would be greatly appreciated.

The setup for syslog is different to setting up SNMP. Refer to the following URL re the 'Event Notifications Setup Page'. http://www.cisco.com/univercd/cc/td/doc/product/wireless/airo_350/accsspts/ap350scg/ap350ch7.htm#1037065
In particular, please make sure that you check the 'Yes' button for 'Should Syslog Messages use the Cisco EMBLEM Format', otherwise RME will not recognise the format of the syslog messages that it receives.
As mentioned by one of the other respondants, you must also check that the AP is recognised in the RME Inventory as a Managed Device.

so i followed below steps using FM.
1.FM RSLG_FILEINFO_INIT.
2.passing output of FM-1 to FM RSLG_READ_FILE.
3.i got syslog details from Step2. Now i want to create syslog text format to display purpose.
one of my friend suggest me to refer Subroutine USE_TABE_AND_DATA at SAPMSM21 program.
and also must use FM RSLG_STORE_PARAM here. But i dont understand what he wants to say..
even i checked those code.
I am struck up here..could you pls push me to next step..how can i proceed from here to make
syslog text in report format.

SMS: unable to open. message format not supported...

hey folks i've seen a bunch of guys asking this same question on another threads with no reply, is this a OS bug or something? from time to time i received SMS from my contacts and sometimes I am not able to open them and i got a message: "unable to open. message format not supported Symbian" even though i can read some text from the preview list.
any workaround?

Weird error message using phone as iPod

When I plug my iPhone into my car's iPod connection cord (which works fine with regular iPods and does not cause regular iPods to display any weird error messages), the iPhone says something about how "...that accessory does not work with the iPhone..." and asks me whether I want to switch to airplane mode. In spite of this weird message, I am able to play my music via the usual method in my car. Weird. Remedy?

Many iPod accesories were not designed to operate in close proximity to a GSM phone. The iPhone is a GSM phone. There is a program for iPod accessory manufacturers to test and certify their accesories for use with the iPhone. This article contains more information:

That being said, many will work without going into airplane mode, some will get interference from the GSM signal that will come through as a hum or sometimes popping noise. Since sending and receiving the GSM signal is needed to make calls, the iPhone can't be shielded to prevent interfering, the accessory needs to be.

The short answer is the car adapter may work without going into Airplane Mode, or it may have interference from the GSM signal at times.

I am using ACS 1120 appliance running ACS version 4.2.1.15 , I am pointing out all syslog message to my external syslog server (passed authentication , failed authentication , database replication , administration aduit ,tacacs accounting ) , but i could recieve only passed authentication log message to my external log server , no other log message except passed authentication is pushed to my external log server , But i could see failed attempts , database replication,administrtation audit log message locally on my acs appliance as CSV file ,
Syslog server configuration is configured under all logging (passed , failed , administration , tacacs accounting ) , but i am surprise to see only passed authentication logg is sent out from acs appliance , Is there any patch to be installed for logg message scripting ?? , please advise ..

Messages in multi-message format can only be sent to one Adapter Engine

Using XI 7.0 SPS 12 I have a scenario Single Flat File->XI->Multiple Messages to ECC.
Due to an annoying limitation/bug in ECC we have to send workorders in to be processed as individual transactions. This means generating seperate calls to ECC from PI.
I've adjusted my message map (No BPM) to split the source messages out, but when it calls the XI adapter to send them to ECC I get the following:

I am generating multiple structures under
messages/message1/xx_my_structure_repeated_at_this_level
which gives the correct amount of payloads in moni.
I believe this error is because the http/idoc adapters dont go through the AE and it is the AE that splits the multiple messages into individual calls. Is there a clean workaround which doesnt involve BPM or intermediate writing to disk etc?

we have a problem when we call a web service PI (release 7.01 , SP 10), from legacy system : the PI system return this message : ADAPTER.JAVA_EXCEPTION ; - java.lang.Exception: no valid message format object found
For to test this scenario we use soapUI tool.
I tried the URL (... /XISOAPAdapter/HelperServlet?action=FindChannel ...) in IE and got the following response :

Did you check the page no 14 of the document which has the same problem - in problem analysis it has mentioned that check the URL as well as proxy setting of internet browser.
3) Try to create the ID objects manually (Sender Channel and Sender Agreement).....when we use the wizard a * gets introduced in the unfilled (unused) fields (party etc) ....however when manually created the unused fields are left blank.
4) Check if all the ID objects are available in SXI_CACHE.

Cannot select HTML message format in Active Sync - Treo 750

When I configure active sync in Treo 750 device, I can select the message format as HTML but after the first sync the message format reverts to Plain Text, and it's now grayed out!
I would appreciate if anyone have a solution for this.

Very Delayed Update:
Whenever I upgraded my Treo 750 to WM6, I found in PROGRAMS "Proxy Manager" which is nothing but a box to select to "Force AT&T Proxy".
Whenever I have established an ActiveSync connection via Bluetooth with my internet connected laptop, I simply Un-Select the "Force AT&T Proxy" and any program (IE, Google Maps, email Send & Recieve, etc.) use the ActiveSynce Passthough.

Our Customer using CUCM 9.0 (PUB :1 , Sub : 4) and 4 Voice Gateway Cisco 3945 (16 E1 PRI per each Gateway)
CUCMs have problem with syslog messages.
I saw these messages in rtmt syslog

I used to have the same problem, it was a sip trunk against to one CME, just reset the sip trunk in CUCM it fixed the error. it is because the end poing is sending a lot of requests to CUCM
