Weird textinput behavior embedded font

I have this weird behavior with an embedded font in a textinput.
I have embedded the myriad font and aplied it on a textinput.
In this weird scenrio when i type "test configuration" in the textinput and then pres the left arrow key the cursors will not go further back than the letter n in the word configuration.
This behavior is only with some font types, like myriad or ubuntu.
Since i have no clue how to upload attachments to this forum i created a Box link
https://www.box.com/s/0boj6u2kgmwojbg9ubhd
In here i have a video of the behavior and a test project.

Not sure if this will help you, but in order to get my embedded fonts to render, I had to do:
                GlobalSettings.resolveFontLookupFunction = null;
                //setup text item from xml
                var res:XML = XML(xml.htmlText.children()[0]);
                var tf:TextFlow = TextFlowUtil.importFromXML(res,WhiteSpaceCollapse.PRESERVE);
                tf.renderingMode = RenderingMode.CFF;
                tf.fontLookup = FontLookup.EMBEDDED_CFF;
                txt.textFlow = tf;
                txt.textFlow.whiteSpaceCollapse = WhiteSpaceCollapse.PRESERVE;
                txt.textFlow.invalidateAllFormats();
The important lines ar the first and last.

  • Characters not found in embedded font

    What font does the TLF uses when it can't find the characters in the embedded font?
    For example we have a non-latin text (like Arabic, Chinese, ...), but in the text are a few latin-type characters used (a brand name, numbers, ...). TLF won't find these in the embedded non-latin font, so it will default to a system font (I guess). Is it possible to default it to another font than the system font (something like Helvetica)? Or can we tweak it with the container, paragraph or character formats, and create some hierarchy?

    All you can do is assign a different font to those latin characters using the fontFamily attribute.
    If the font assigned does not have a particular glyph, Flash Player goes to a single fallback font which depends on the glyph. That fallback font is hardcoded and there currently is no method for changing this behavior.

  • Embedded fonts display differently in mx and spark

    Hi there,
    My apologies if this is an known issue but I have not been able to find any posts describing this problem. As the title of the discussion describes the problem I see is that when embedding the same font for spark and mx components they display differently to the point of making the application look sloppy. I created a small app to illustrate the problem:
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?>
    <s:Application
        minWidth="955" minHeight="600"
        xmlns:fx="http://ns.adobe.com/mxml/2009"

        <s:Label text="This is a label that uses spark"/>
        <mx:Label text="This is a label that uses mx"/>
    </s:Application>
    I used the Arial.ttf font I found in my mac, though I have also tried with courier new and even the myriad web pro provided with an example in the SDK. Also I have tried with SDKs 4.1, 4.5 and 4.5.1. I have played with the value of advancedAniAliasing as well. Regardless of the combination I will still see differences such as this:
    Is this a known issue? Any solutions at hand?
    Thanks in advance for the help!!

    Hi there,
    Thanks for the quick reply. I was able to make fonts display correctly after hacking the display of some components (mx.controls.FormItem for example) however I did notice a whole buch of runtime warnings that showed up as a result of the workaround such as:
    warning: incompatible embedded font 'arialCFFFont' specified for mx.core::UITextFormat. This component requires that the embedded font be declared with embedAsCFF=false.
    TextFieldAutomationHelper:captureSelection() - 'selectionBeginIndex' is not implemented in FTETextField.
    And in some cases for components I do not even use:
    warning: incompatible embedded font 'arialCFFFont' specified for mx.controls::TextInput (TextInput1967) . This component requires that the embedded font be declared with embedAsCFF=false.
    Any ideas on how to avoid this noise or do we have to live with this?

    Your site was built using tables, whose sizes are defined in your site.
    If we look at your first table definition, we can see:
    <table width="861" height="1449" border="3" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" bordercolor="#868787">
    Your table has a width of 861 pixels and an overall height of 1449 pixels. Anything you put into that overall box must fit those dimensions, else
    it won't be visible. Anything you add above it will push everything down. You can redefine your sizing to let you edit more inside of the table elements.
    This is why, when you type in more text, things act weird. If you are in Dreamweaver, you must find the right cell to put your text into and then enter
    text there. Unfortunately, this is going to push things around, which were all lined up using tables. And this gets everything offset with respect to
    everything else in your website.
    And that is why everyone is saying, "Start Over!"
    I just inherited a website that has been put together using tables. I'm going to have to expend considerable effort in rewriting the entire design of the
    website because of that. because everything I intend to add to the pages on the site is going to need to be deconstructed in order to get it to work
    properly if I'm adding text and pictures that need to line up with each other.
    You need something done quick and dirty and the only way I can recommend you do that is to use Dreamweaver to show you the tables you have
    and put what you need in a new table that is defined above or below the tables you all ready have defined. Do that and then get back to someone here
    who knows how to make a website correctly to clean up your entire website and make it editable -- which will cost you some money, but it will be
    money well-spent.
    I like to quote this maxim: Good, Fast, Cheap. Pick any two. This works for website design. You can get it fast and cheap, but it won't be good. I
    think you may have chosen that route.

  • Embedded fonts not showing?

    I've embedded fonts in my swf for users. On my computer, which contains the font, it works locally and online as it shoud. However, on user's computers without the font it defaults to the device font, why? Isn't the font supposed to be embedded in the file? Thanks...

  • Embedded fonts not displaying in Preview.app

    I occasionally get PDF documents with embedded fonts in them. They look fine in Adobe Acrobat, but opening them in Preview.app makes the system fall back to some ugly default font.
    I keep a copy of Acrobat reader laying around pretty much only so I can open these files. This behavior is consistent across computers and has been occurring on OSX for ages. I can provide an example PDF is anyone who knows about these things would like to take a look at it.
    Any thoughts on the matter?

    Hi Stephan,
    this solved placing both animation on one page.  Make sure all your fonts are called out in the <head> section like for example:
    <script>var __adobewebfontsappname__="dreamweaver"</script>
    <script src="http://use.edgefonts.net/quicksand:n3,n4:default.js" type="text/javascript"></script>
    Dreamweaver does this automatic for you.  If you are having a font conflict I recommend under command  (if you are using dreamweaver)
    Clean up the font Tag and add only the ones that you are using again,  sometimes they accumulate.
    Good Luck.

  • Font substitution when Embedding fonts

    The font embedding controls in FFCore's Optimize component include the ability to upload and select a Font Substitution Configuration File: To recap the documentation:The Font Substitution Configuration File option defines the pdfToolbox configuration file that will be used when embedding fonts.This configuration file controls font substitution behavior in Optimize. Fonts are embedded as subsets. Fonts are not embedded if they have a flag indicating that embedding is not allowed. The Embed missing fonts fixup in pdfToolbox Desktop preflight profiles includes an option to select a Font substitution policy:   If you select the Open folder with configuration files you will see the text files that control font substitution. Although pdfToolbox Desktop comes with 3 predefined font substitution policies, additional ones can be created by duplicating an existing policy file and editing it (you will have to restart acrobat to see the changes).  The prefix on the filname controls the display order of the font policies within pdfToolbox. I would also ensure there are no spaces in any new filenames. The font substitution policies are plain text files with the following content: DisplayName 1 My Special Name SubstituteAll<tab>Arial<tab>Helvetica<tab>Helvetica Neue<tab>Futura<tab>Helvetica Neue<tab>Microsoft Sans Serif<tab>MS PGothic<tab>Trebuchet MS<tab>Verdana
    SubstituteFirst<tab>Arial Bold<tab>Arial-Bold<tab>Helvetica Bold<tab>Futura-Bold<tab>Futura Bold<tab>Helvetica-Bold
     The DisplayName defines the name that will appear in the pdfToolbox UI: The remaining lines specify which fonts may be substituted by which fonts and the precedence for substitution.SubstituteAll - all fonts in the list are substituted for each other. When a font is missing pdfToolbox will work down the list until it reaches the name of an available font.SubstituteFirst - only the first font in the list is substituted. pdfToolbox will work down the list until it reaches the name of an available font. Note: the font names must match what pdfToolbox will find. The best way to ascertain that is to run a preflight on the file and copy the names off the report.  UPDATE - Updated example text to show location of tabs

    I added a new topic to the forum covering font substitution: http://forum.support.xerox.com/t5/FreeFlow-Core/Font-substitution-when-Embedding-fonts/td-p/177411

  • Qns on ADE / embedded fonts in .epub

    Hello,
    I've created several .epub files with non-English text, using an embedded font to help render the characters correctly. The file renders properly on iBooks and Calibre (and epubcheck validates the file correctly), but ADE is displaying question marks - which leads me to believe it's ignoring the font information altogether. The weird thing is that it's rendering the TOC labels correctly. Here's what my .css looks like:
    @font-face {
    font-family : Doulos SIL;
    font-weight : normal;
    font-style : normal;
    src : url(DoulosSILR.ttf);
    *:lang(nko) {
    font-family: 'Doulos SIL', Times, serif;
    direction: ltr;
    Can anyone provide information on the following:
    - Does ADE support embedded fonts? If so, what font formats are supported? (Doulos is TrueType)
    - Does ADE support the :lang pseudo element? (This is just to isolate the issue - if ADE doesn't support embedded fonts, this is a moot point.)
    Any info would be helpful. It looks like I'm running 1.7.2.1131 (on Windows 7 / 64bit). Thanks!

    Okay, I think I've tracked it down.
    ADE doesn't appear to implement the :lang pseudo element. When I set:
    body {
    font-family: 'Doulos SIL', Times, serif;
    direction: ltr;
    life is good and the non-English characters are rendered properly.
    This does present a problem for multiple language documents, though. For example, I have a dictionary that has 4 writing systems. Having support for :lang(<xxx>) would help tremendously in this case. Is this something that is in the works for ADE?

  • Embedding fonts in Bridge (Photoshop CS5)

    Hi folks!
    I'm sorry for posting but I still have trouble with creating PDF via Bridge.
    I have sveral PSD-Files (CS5 made) using several image- and textlayers.
    Now I want to create multipage-PDF using Bridge that comes with PS CS5.
    Works fine so far but Bridge does not embed those fonts used in the PSD!
    Seems to me Bridge just merges all layers to one pixelbased image and saves it in PDF-format.
    But that's no good deal!
    In CS2 there was a much better solution in PS2 allowing to create multipaged PDF with embedded fonts.
    Is there any chance to embed fonts with Bridge?
    Plz don't tell me to use Acrobat or InDesign because I'm only using PS CS5.
    Thx!

  • Unable to load embedded fonts in TlF / FlowLeafElement

    dears,
    I use TextFlowUtil.importFromString and FlowLeafElement to make each some text have its own style, every some words have diffirent color, fontFamily, fontSize....etc

    The problem is that i need to embed fonts, by this fontFamily=&quot;Arial&quot; you can set font name which you want, but if i set font name which is embedded it won't work, like : fontFamily=&quot;ttf&quot;
    the embedded code is :
    [Embed(source='/Resources/majallab.ttf',fontName='ttf',mimeType='application/x-font',embed AsCFF='true')]
                                            var font1:Class; //This is only used to compile the code
    I use Flex SDK 4.5,
    what can i do ?
    Thank you in advance,

    To use embedded fonts in a Flex component, the fontFamily for the component needs to be set to an embedded font that is in the same SWF as the other embedded fonts in the TextFlow.  See my blog for more details

    Hi Jin-Huang
              But when I use Simple ASProject with SDK 4.1 then it works fine but when I create Flex project then it give error

    I think it's a issue of swfcontext or AS comunication with Spark components.
    Please let me know if any solution.

  • How can I create a PDF with embedded fonts (not a subset of the font) from Excel?

    I need to create PDF's from Excel spreadsheets. The PDF needs to have embedded fonts but every time I create one it only has a subset of the embedded font.  I have tried setting preferences in the Acrobat add in (unchecked the "Subset Embedded Fonts" option and also tried with the Subset Embedded Fonts checked but the percentage set to only 1% in an attempt to force full font to be embedded.)
    I also tried opening the resulting PDF with Acrobat Pro XI but could not figure out how to add the font in.
    A method to accomplish the results from either tool would be great.

    Anna;
    Unless you can add those fonts to your system via the Font book and then substitute them in iPhoto, you'll have to either user the available fonts or create your own pages, 8.5 x 11, in an image editor like Photoshop Elements and use them on pages that are one photo per page. Other's have done that with some success.
    If you has PS or PSE create an 8.5 x 11" canvas at 300 dpi. Then you can add your photos, add text (if PS can use the text), and create your own layout.
    Do you Twango?
    TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
    I've written an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.

  • Error message from Adobe Reader. cannot extract the embedded font 'LICCMC+MyriadPro-Light'. some characters may not display or print correctly. Print looks like gibberish

    Trying to view/print PDF documents from website. Print looks like gibberish and is unreadable. Problem is with the embedded fonts. Error message from Adobe says cannot extract the embedded font 'LICCMC+MyriadPro-Light'. some characters may not display or print correctly.

    Try Adobe support, that's not a Firefox support issue. <br />

  • Problem with PDF export and embedded font (characters disappear)

    Designer: Crystal Reports 2008 SP 2
    Engine: CR4E 2.0 SP2 (runtime_12.2.203)
    Hi there!
    we found a problem in the pdf export. It seems like there would be a problem with the embedded fonts, the problem is as follows:
    Rpt file with, for example only a text box which contains the german string " Änderungs Schlüssel ".
    Export the Rpt file with CR4E to a pdf file.
    When we open the pdf file in Adope Reader 8, the text appears to be correct,
    but if we print the PDF file from the Adope Reader, the text changes to " nderungs Schl sselu201C,
    here we are missing ther german umlaute.
    When we open the file for example with an alternative PDF reader like Foxit Reader, there they are also missing.
    After i found some posts here in the forum, there are people facing the same problem, since i couldn't find a solution in the forum, we build a little workaround for it that works for us.
    For all of you that have the same problem here the workaround:
    We used the IText JAVA library, this jar can can help as to fix the PDF file so the text is displayed correctly.
    Here the code:
    ReportClientDocument doc = new ReportClientDocument();
    doc.setReportAppServer(ReportClientDocument.inprocConnectionString);
    doc.open("C:\XY.rpt", OpenReportOptions._openAsReadOnly);
    //... database logon,.....
    InputStream inputStream = doc.getPrintOutputController().export(ReportExportFormat.PDF);
    inputStream = PDFHealer.heal(inputStream);
    //... write the stream some where

    The helper class using IText:
    import java.io.ByteArrayInputStream;
    import java.io.ByteArrayOutputStream;
    import java.io.IOException;
    import java.io.InputStream;
    import com.lowagie.text.Document;
    import com.lowagie.text.DocumentException;
    import com.lowagie.text.pdf.PdfContentByte;
    import com.lowagie.text.pdf.PdfImportedPage;
    import com.lowagie.text.pdf.PdfReader;
    import com.lowagie.text.pdf.PdfWriter;
    public class PDFHealer
       public static InputStream heal(InputStream in) throws DocumentException, IOException
          try
             ByteArrayOutputStream out = new ByteArrayOutputStream();
             PdfReader reader = new PdfReader(in);
             // we retrieve the total number of pages
             int n = reader.getNumberOfPages();
             // step 1: creation of a document-object
             Document document = new Document();
             // step 2: we create a writer that listens to the document
             PdfWriter writer = PdfWriter.getInstance(document, out);
             // step 3: we open the document
             document.open();
             // step 4: we add content
             PdfContentByte cb = writer.getDirectContent();
             int i = 0;
             while( i < n )
                document.newPage();
                i++;
                PdfImportedPage page1 = writer.getImportedPage(reader, i);
                cb.addTemplate(page1, 0, 0);
             // step 5: we close the document
             document.close();
             ByteArrayInputStream ret = new ByteArrayInputStream(out.toByteArray());
             out.close();
             return ret;
          finally
             in.close();
