  • Conditional Routing of emails from Exchange 2007

I have a requirement to be able to control the routing of emails from Exchange 2007 based upon the sender email address.
For example, an exchange 2007 email system has 2 accepted domains, domain1.com and domain2.com.  The system uses 2 external SMTP gateways used for sending all outbound email (gateway1 & gateway2)
If [email protected] emails [email protected] I want it to travel via gateway1
If [email protected] emails [email protected] I want it to travel via gateway2.
All mailboxes are on a single mailbox server cluster, and there are 2 load balanced Hub Transport servers.
I have looked into various ways of dealing with this and have had no success.  I looked at transport rules, but I dont believe it is possible to specify the next hop.  I've also looked into setting permissions on the send connectors, but it is not clear exactly what permissions I need to set, or whether it will work.
The only solution I can see is to forward all outbound emails to a separate SMTP gateway (such as postfix) which supports this kind of functionality.  However I would rather solve the problem using Exchange.
    Any suggestions?

This is not possible natively in Exchange but you can create your own transport agent and hook it with Exchange to configure conditional routing. You may try posting a query in Development forum to get help from developers on writing a transport agent.

  • Cannot send email from Exchange 2007 to Exchange 2013 - Coexistence

    Existing Exchange 2007 SP3 1 MBX, 2 CAS/HT, 2 ET servers.
I have added an Exchange 2013 server with MBX/CAS role.
Email will flow from Ex2013 server no problem.  Mail from Ex2007 systems cannot deliver to Ex2013 boxes, it dies in queue with a 4.4.7 expired message after issuing a delay message.
I can telnet to ports 25, 587,717,465,475, and 2525 from Ex2007 HT role to new Exchange 2013 server.  I can send email from Ex2007 HT role server to new Exchange 2013 server using telnet to port 25.
A ‘get-mailbox’ from the Ex2007 HT role server returns the server and database properly on the test users on Exchange 2013 server.
The only strange thing I am seeing is from the Ex2007 systems, a ‘get-exchange server’ command shows the new Ex2013 server as role ‘16439’ which looks to perhaps be normal.
Why is email not flowing to the new users on Exchange 2013?

You should have exchange server authentication ticked in Default Receive connector in Exchange2007.
Exchange 2007 and Exchange 2013 in the same subnet/network. if not please check any spam agent running between the networks. Are you running antispam on Exchange2013 ?

  • Routing email from exchange 2007 to 2010 .

    Although this is an
hypothetical question but still would be a great help if anyone could answer this :  " How email routing takes place from exchange 2007 user
to exchange 2010 user. I have exchange 2007 and 2010 ,provided i am using single forest with same domain name in both 2007 & 2010 environment "
    Aditya Mediratta

    Hi,
Firstly,I'd like to explain, message routing from Exchange 2007 to Exchange 2010 is message delivery between responsed Hub Transport servers:
When a Hub Transport server queries Active Directory to determine the Mailbox server hosting the destination mailbox, it also retrieves the version of the Mailbox server. If the Mailbox server is an Exchange 2007 server that's in the same site as the Hub Transport
server, the Hub Transport server will relay the message to an Exchange 2007 Hub Transport server in the same Active Directory site.
For more information about the emails routing process, you can refer to the following articles:

  • SBS2008: Move email from Exchange 2007 to new server with Exchange 2013

We have an old server (SBS2008) and plan to buy a new server with (Server 2012). I need to move all the exchange emails, contacts & calendars to the new server. We will no longer use the old server.
Is there a document or migration tool that will help me understand how to move this data form the old exchange server to the new one?
    Old Server:
    SBS2008 running Exchange 2007
    New Server:
    Server 2012
    Exchange 2013
    Any help is appreciated!

    Hi Dave,
It can be done, and as Larry suggested you will consider two Server 2012 installs in order to achieve an environment that looks like your current SBS roles; Exchange 2013 on an Active Directory controller isn't a good long-term solution (SBS did this for
    you in the past).
For your size operation, a virtual server host, with a Windows Server 2012 license, and two virtual machines would probably be a suitable design model.  In this manner, you have Server 2012 license that permits 1 +2 licenses (one host for virtualization,
up to 2 Virtual Machines on same host).
There's no migration tool. That comes with experience and usually trial and error. You earn the skills in this migration path, and for the average SBS support person you should plan on spending 3x (or more) your efforts estimate in hours planning your migration.
You can find a recommended migration path at this link to give you an idea of the steps, but its not exactly point by point going to cover you off for an sbs2008 to server 2012 w/exchange 2013 migration.  But the high points are in here. If it looks
like something you would be comfortable with then you should research more.
    http://blogs.technet.com/b/infratalks/archive/2012/09/07/transition-from-small-business-server-to-standard-windows-server.aspx
Specific around integrating Exchange 2013 into an Exchange 2007 environment, guidance for that can be found here:
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/jj898582(v=exchg.150).aspx
If that looks like something beyond your comfort level, then you might consider building a new 2012 server with Exchange 2013 environment out as new, manually export your exchange 2007 mailbox contents (to PST) and then import them into the new mail server,
and migrate your workstations out of old domain into new domain.  Whether this is more or less work at your workstation count is dependent upon a lot of variables.
If you have more questions about the process, update the thread and we'll try to assist.
Hopefully this info answered your original question.

  • Looking for Script Exchange-2007: Import-Mailbox Calendar Folder on multiple mailboxes {Distribution Group}

    Hi,
I'm looking for a PowerShell script which will import a Calendar events into student's mailbox (Calendar). Those students are located in a distribution group and I would like to target the distribution group; I'm trying to simulate what I want to achieve
in the below code example, I would appreciate if anyone jump in and advise.
    $Users = Import-Csv C:\users.csv | ForEach-Object{Get-DistributionGroup -Identity SC-1213} | Import-Mailbox -Identity $Users -PSTFolderPath c:\Calendar.pst -IncludeFolders '\Calendar' -StartDate -EndDate
    Much appreciated..
    Hussain

The logic doesn't work unless you are using StartDate and EndDate for the period when you change the item.  As I said above, StartDate and EndDate are not the times when the meeting starts and ends - they are the times that the item was either added
or modified in the mailbox.  Your filter was trying to pull items that were in the future.
And as I also said above, if you import a modified item, the original is
not going to be updated.  You will have a duplicate meeting
on the calendar.  You would have to remove the original
and import the updated item if this was how you wished to manage the updates.  This is not nearly as effective as
sending meeting requests and updating those meetings.
For example, if we do things the way you are doing them, and we add a "Student Appreciation Bonfire" meeting to the calendar for April 12 at "The Quad", we would do the following:
On February 1, you get information for the meeting that needs to be imported
You create this new meeting in the PST calendar - "Student Appreciation Bonfire"; Date April 12, start 8:00 AM, end 12:00 noon; Location The Quad
You import the PST into everyone's calendar
You receive a note on March 12 saying the venue has changed to The River Beach, so you update this meeting in your PST
Since there are other calendar items in the PST, you import the update using StartDate of March 12 and EndDate of March 13 - the date that you changed the item, not the date the item occurs
At this point, all users have two meetings on their calendar - the original and the update
If, instead of doing it this way, you create a Student Actvities Calendar mailbox, you would handle it this way:
On February 1, you get information for the meeting that needs to be imported
You create this new meeting in the Corporate calendar - "Student Appreciation Bonfire"; Date April 12, start 8:00 AM, end 12:00 noon; Location The Quad
You invite everyone to the meeting
You receive a note on March 12 saying the venue has changed to The River Beach, so you update this meeting in that calendar and send out the update
At this point, all users have only the one meeting on their calendar - the update
Using the PST as the source for the meetings would work only for items that
will not be changed - holidays are a good example.

  • Exchange 2007 delievered email not appearing in sent items

Hello forum, case of missing email. Exchange 2007 servers, standard MBX, HUB and TPT role, nothing out of the blue. A client complains that email delivery was successful but they cant find the email in sent items, neither the email is in deleted items.
Opened email tracking from Exchange toolbox and found that the email was sent and it was delievered to intended recipients, can also see that recipients replied to tha email which the sender recieved. Yet, the email is not in sent items? Another thing, logged
on to Outlook web client and can see the email in Outbox (yes, Outbox) not in sent items. Anyone else had similar issue or know why this happened - is it known problem? Where should I start looking? Mail client is Outlook 2007 on Windows 7 laptop. This hasn't
    happened before.

    Hi,
Depending on your post, I want to double confirm whether only some special user experience this question, or just several message flow reproduce this issue.
If so, please try to run Outlook with safe mode to prevent virus and add-ins.
Also, please try to configure this problematic account in another computer to narrow down the issue, for example outlook version, add-in or other 3rd application conflict.
    Thanks

  • Mail.app and Exchange 2007 with Rollup 3 ... anyone get it to work?

Spent way too much time on this...
After finding our our Exchange 2007 server didn't have the legacy components installed to ensure WebDav would work, we can now connect to our Exchange 2007 mail server from Microsoft Entourage for all Windows Active Directory accounts.
For Apple Mail however, this is not the case. Opening mail, the account information does default in accurately (email, userID, exchange 2007 server) when I enter a users password, it says that it is unable to connect to mail server user/password failed.
If I manually create the account, the same thing occurs, a pop-up appears prompting for a password, which I enter and it comes back saying it isn't valid.
The password is valid because on the same Mac I open up Entourage and log in.
Keychain is NOT used and none of the passwords are held because of the headaches this causes.
Looking for ideas, thinking this is more of an Apple Mail.app bug not working with Exchange than a Microsoft issue.

Just want to add to this...it was resolved the Advanced tab is very important on mail.app.
The Advance tab authentication must match what the Exchange server/Active Directory is using.
For us NTLM is what we need to use.
Also we found that one exchange server had a bad installation while another had no problem connecting via mail.app.
Thus the installation is going to be looked at.

  • 10.5.7 breaks RDC and Exchange 2007 connectivity?

I just installed 10.5.7 and now I find I cannot receive mail from our Exchange 2007 server (Entourage 2008) or connect to our file server (SBS 2008 standard).
I only found one mention of this anywhere else (http://www.macfixit.com/article.php?story=20090515093340707) but it is only stating that the problem exists, not offering a solution.
Anyone else experiencing this? I can use OWA for mail if I have to, but I admin our office and RDC is invaluable to me. I will probably have to wipe/re-install our macs if a fix is not available for this.

I had a lot of problems with this and researched it as best I could. My only solution was to format clean, upgrade to 10.5.7, manually input realms, dns servers and domain controllers in System>Core Services>Kerberos, then perform the bind in the Directory Utility. After that all domain connections work, and admin level accounts can log in directly to the Mac. Our group policy for the standard user seems to prohibit the standard user from using a Kerberos login, and I have not figured out what setting is preventing it yet. When I say all connections work I mean Entourage is able to pull email from Exchange 2007 via kerberos login or OWA and RDC reaches all Windows servers I maintain. If you check macenterprise.org you will see many people having probles with AD binding in 10.5.7 and most of them have simply reverted to a previous version. After fighting with this machine for a good long time I think I'm going to revert to 10.5.6 because of poor video performance or just wait til the real headache, 10.6 in September

Under the scenario you've laid out, there is no choice. Without BES, one must use BIS to access their internet facing email accounts...and BIS is hosted by each carrier. Plus, even with BES, you are still riding your carrier network as the transport between the BES systems and your BB...so the carrier remains involved. Perhaps I have misunderstood again...

I don't understand that statement...are you saying that they don't have internet facing OWA, POP, or something else to associate BIS to?

    "abo"???? Hmmm???
For BES, you must install a complete BES infrastructure (server, connectors to messaging systems, holes through firewalls, and a whole host of other things that I'm not qualified to discuss). Then you must also have staff to support that infrastructure. And you must have the proper data plan from your carrier to enable BES traffic through their network to your BB. Typically, for one person, the economics simply don't pan out for implementing BES.

  • Exchange 2007 and 2013 coexistance Problem

We are in the process to migrate our current Exchange 2007 to Exchange 2013.
    Our environment is as follows:

    MB1, MB2 = Mailbox CCR Cluster (Exchange 2007)
    CAS1= CAS Server (Exchange 2013)
    MBNew1, MBNew2 = Mailbox Servers (Exchange 2013)
Emails for users that are on Exchange 2007 can send and receive external emails. But they cannot send emails to users that are on Exchange 2013.
Users on Exchange 2013 can send/receive externally, send to Exchange 2007 users, but cannot receive emails from Exchange 2007 Users.

  • Send Welcome Email to New User using the Scripting Agent

    Hi
I require some assistance please.  I have found a number of scripts online to send a Welcome Email to new users whereby they make use of the ScriptingAgent.xml file.
I like the way the scripts have been configured and have mashed up one or two scripts together for my desired result however when testing in my lab (Exchange 2013) I have found tow problems.
    The problems are:
    1. When creating a new user and mailbox (New-Mailbox) via the ECP the script throws out an error which I will post later in this post. The mailbox is created fine but it does not send out a welcome email.  When a user is created in ADUC and then a mailbox
is created (Enable-Mailbox) the welcome email is sent out correctly.
    2. In the script i have a section to check for NewUser00 in the HTML file and replace that with the Users Name and Surname, however this does not work correctly, I just come up blank:
    The Script:

  • Health Check in Exchange 2007 Scripting

    Hi All,
I have been looking around for scripts which would help me perform regularised health checks in my enviornment. After lot of googling i was able to get a script which would meet my requirements. However i have a few challenges involved in extracting some
    more information:
    1. Mailbox Store Size, Free Diskspace percentage for mailbox servers
    2. Remote Mail flow Tests & Mailflow test to every exchange 2007 mailbox servers in org.
    3. Automating Email of collected data (in HTML) to Administrator.
    4. Executing the script Automatically without triggering it from Exchange Management Shell.
    Script Below
