Welcome to our new home!

Hi.
This is it. This is your new community. We’ve done few design changes to reflect the new journey we started some months back with Microsoft, hope you like the new environment. Important things to note:
This is only a design refresh, the system behind the scenes has not changed.
You can continue accessing and participating with your same username and same password.
We’re the same team, same moderators, same rules, and same functionalities.
We’ve made every effort to ensure a smooth transition for our community members to our new design.  However, as often happens with change, if something appears broken or doesn’t work as you feel it should, please raise it to me or to any of our moderators.
Thank you for participating in our community and helping other members to get the most out of their device. This is a great community because of each and every one of you, the people who every day share their suggestions, tips, tricks and also critiques.

  • Welcome to our new forums!

    Hey all,
We are very excited to announce the release of Edge Animate 1.0 and welcome to the community. During our Preview period we hosted our community discussions on http://forums.adobe.com/community/labs/edge/, which is now archived and read-only. We encourage you to continue your Edge Animate discussions, feedback, requests and bug reports here on our new forum.
To our new users, we hope you find this forum useful with feedback provided from both the core Animate team and valued community members. To our existing users, thank you for your invaluable contribution to Animate and for helping us shape the product you know today. We couldn't have done it without you.
    Happy posting!
    Sarah Hunt
    Product Manager, Adobe Edge Animate

Animate Free is great news indeed A big thank to Adobe.
And even bigger thanks to those who made it all possible... huge kudos and thanks to all the ladies in the Adobe House (like Sarah and Elaine ^_^) and gents (Mark'n'Co!) who have been providing support 24/7 along with the whole Adobe Edge Team Wizards working their magic behind the scenes . Also thanks to the community members for being so helpful sharing their knowledge helping us dig each other out when one of us got stuck in a rut or found a major bump on the road.
I enjoyed being a little part of this evolution from preview 3 onwards as see how Edge now "Edge Animate" had grown into a more mature product. In a short time much has been accomplished and that's for sure an achievement to be proud of at all levels from the Adobe team all the way to those who blasted with requests and have been nagging Mark with unsolicited e-mail suggestions and feedback... yep, that'd be me and no I ain't done yet Mark since you haven't replied asking me to stop ! LOL
Either my emails have been auto-routed to trash, or you are listening in silence (judging to what happen between Preview 4~5 and 7). Those who may know what I sent over may be grinning proudly with a "we made it all the way down the laundry list... mostly" And I'd say yes you did... congrats for doing such a great job guys (and girls of course!)
Now I wouldn't want to quote "The Wolf" and repeat here what he said after Julius and Vince were done cleaning up the mess in the car at Jimmy's LOL ! So a mention should suffice for those who remember that scene and getting my drift, realize that despite this awesome achievement, there's still a lot to be done
It's an Edge, not a Peak... the Edge does not remain steadily in the same place and once conquered can be conquered all over again in the same way. An Edge is has a life of its own and is indeed "animated" as it keeps moving in various directions. So the the Wiz Team at Adobe have their job cut for themselves with all that will come in the future where the evolution will intevitably move towards making evem simpler and more intuitive the UI adding more interactive and powerful features to Edge Animate, while  continuing to empower creatives across the globe by making the process from conceptualization to realization increasingly smoother, easier and painless via the intuitive Edge Animate workspace UI.
So once again thanks, kudos and much love to the entire community... and here is a toast to you all with the hope that we'll continue the journey in the same fun and fruitful direction that has led us here today.
    Cheers!

  • Welcome to our new Release 12 Upgrade forum

    Welcome, everyone!
I'm very pleased to see that this new forum is up and running. This forum is the direct result of a request from attendees at this year's Oracle Applications User Group (OAUG) Collaborate conference in Las Vegas to help you pool your experiences and tips for this upgrade.
This is a potentially big task, so it's great to see you jumping into the discussion already.
Although I'm not an upgrade specialist myself, I (and one other person from my team) will be monitoring this forum. I can't personally guarantee that I'll have answers to all of your questions, but I'll be sure to route them to Oracle insiders in E-Business Suite Development as needed.
In case you haven't already discovered it, I'd strongly recommend that you monitor our E-Business Suite Technology Stack blog for Release 12 techstack updates:

  • Welcome: to our newer posters

Quite a few new posters are appearing here and that's good because one day hopefully you'll be marking down points here along with Q's.
However many of you are missing some vital info such as the _Computer you're using Soundtrack Pro on, the processor speed of that computer, how much memory you have (RAM). Also the OS - Mac OS X 10.5_ for example. In other details you should list the _Suite with Soundtrack Pro in it that you have such as Logic or Final Cut Studio_. Adding this makes it 10X easier to solve problems.
All of this info can be found by choosing about this Mac from the apple menu on the top left of your screen. Please add that info to this portion of your account located in the sidebar thank you. My Settings

Thanks to those of you who have done this. I'm putting this one back up just to make it easier for those who still aren't sure what it takes. You can click either the link in my first post that will give you a new browser window or the same link in the sidebar to fill in the boxes describing the various info. That way you get the information nice and neat and green at the bottom of all your posts.
    Again thanks,

  • Just got a new IPOD Touch and it wont connect to our Wifi home network with a Belken N Router. Our router uses WEP 64 bit security, but had a "blank" password field, which the IPOD did not like. Changing to a 6 char numeric PW didnt help either.

OS is whatever OS ships with current IPOD Touch
I cannot understand why the APPLE engineers have designed this product so that it has SO MANY WIFI problems.  This is supposed to be an easy-to-use product.  We've had no problems connecting our new laptop, our ROKU box, etc, but it seems impossible to get the IPOD touch to work.  NOTHING LIKE SPENDING XMAS MORNING DOING APPLE TECH SUPPORT TROUBLESHOOTING TO LEAVE YOU IN THE CHRISTMAS SPIRIT!!!  Argh!
In fact, the only way we have been able to get this expensive brand new IPOD to work on our home network is to DISABLE SECURITY in the router settings.  THIS IS ANYTHING BUT A GOOD IDEA.
DON"T KNOW WHY BUT MANY OTHER USERS ARE REPORTING THE SAME KIND OF PROBLEM SO APPLE ENGINEERING NEEDS TO GET BUSY AND FIX THIS PROBLEM SO THAT NEW USERS CAN CONNECT TO THE INTERNET WITHOUT HAVING TO BE TRAINED ROUTER ENGINEERS TO DO IT!!!!
Ok, sorry for the rant, but surely those of you who are experiencing this share my frustration.  This is not why I bought an APPLE product.
IS THERE ANY POSSIBILITY THAT APPLE WILL NOT ALLOW A WIFI PASSWORD with more than one identical alphanumeric character?  Any ideas?  We also tried eliminating the 40 MHZ setting under Bandwidth settings in the router settings for our router, but it made no difference.  The router has the latest firmware, too.  Running out of ideas, and am ready to box this unit up and send it back!

Thanks, Bob!  You are correct.  And, we learned this as we spoke with APPLE TECH SUPPORT by phone on Christmas day (800-APL-CARE).  One of their reps spent the time to help us troubleshoot this, but the boiled down conclusion is your answer, and to repeat for the benefit of others, here is what worked:
    1. With our Belkin router set to "out-of-the-box" WEP 64 bit security, we could not get wireless access of any kind.  Only with the Security Mode set to DISABLED, could we gain access.
    2. Changing the router's security mode setting to "WPA/WPA-2...." and entering a new min. 8 char passphrase, and then entering that same passphrase into the IPOD Touch, and restarting the router, did the trick!
Based on this, and some info found in another posting, I can only conclude that the IPODs and IPHONES do not support WEP security mode in many generic routers used by thousands of consumers.  Hopefully, those same consumers can figure out how to change their wireless router setttings to WPA/WPA-2 security mode and ALSO get all their other wireless devices (PCs, laptops, WII boxes, ROKU boxes) all reconfigured to WPA mode, too.
I THINK THE BOTTOM LINE HERE IS THAT THERE IS AN ISSUE THAT APPLE NEEDS TO ADDRESS WITH WEP COMPATIBILITY and it may also be the case that MOST CONSUMERS ARE USING WEP 64 BIT security on their home wireless routers?
In any case, it's working now, so anyone who is having problems should try changing to WPA mode and post back here if it worked for them!

  • I need to move my old hard drive files to our new computer, how?

Hey I need to move my old hard drive files to our new computer. It is a SATA 3.5. Is it as simple as putting it in an enclosure and plugging it to new computer.
Can I do this at the start with the IMAC? I don't have the old computer, just the drive.

  • How do I change my Ipod to a new "home" computer?

My employer says that all our personal software and libraries (i.e., itunes/ipod, etc.) must be removed from our business computers. Unfortunately, I set up my itunes library on my computer at work. Now I must move my itunes library to my computer at home (my house). Someone at work told me that I cannot do this because the ipod will always recognize my "work" computer as its "home" or base and that I will have to rebuld the library and buy and download all new tunes. Is this true? Is there anyway to recover my library or reset my ipod to recognize my computer at home as its new "home" so I can move my library?

  • Need copper drop line installed at a new home I bought.

I bought a new house a little while back and inquired in email if my DSL would work through FIOS. I was informed it wouldn't but to call their service center and I would most likely be offered a deal, etc. I call and get an unfriendly\unhelpful rep. The price she offers me is still more than double of what I currently pay.  I send the below email:
    ==========================================
    Hello,
Let me start by saying that I have been a Verizon customer with the same phone number since I was about 18 years old....I am now 44. I've only had to call Verizon a couple of times during that time frame and when I did, found them to be friendly and helpful.
Recently however I bought a new house and wanted my DSL transferred over to my new property. I'm being told that I cannot do this as the previous owners had FIOS installed there. It seems while checking into things online that the copper drop wire can indeed be replaced back if you want to go back and forth arguing with Verizon for three months or more. I even saw an article online from a Verizon rep stating that he doesn't see why someone would want to go back to copper but if someone bought a new home and wanted the copper line put back in, that they would do so at no charge. So I am not sure why I was told this cannot be done previously.
Anyhow, I called a Verizon rep last Wednesday morning around 10:30am. I wish I would have written her name down and I could be mistaken but I think she might have said her name was Samantha? Either way, I thought she would be more than willing to work with me but I did not find her very friendly or helpful at all.  Verizon is asking me to get FIOS....which I DO NOT want. If you are going to refuse to re-run the copper line at my new property then I ask that you at least grant me FIOS service for the contract I have for my DSL. The women I spoke with said the bottom of the rung FIOS speed would cost me (edited)! That's outrageous! That's more than double of what I am paying now for something that I don't even want. I am a single man and am the only one using my internet connection. I just basically check email, Facebook, pay some bills online and watch a few YouTube videos. That's all. I find the speed of my DSL to be perfectly acceptable. I see no reason why Version cannot give me their slowest speed FIOS for the price of what I currently pay. I've been a dedicated customer for over 25 years and have been happy with my service until now. I feel like my business throughout the years has been unappreciated and for the person on the phone I spoke with, they didn't seem to care at all.
So in closing....I'm willing to forgo arguing about have the copper drop wire put in if Verizon would be kind enough to honor my current DSL contract with them and put me on their slowest FIOS speed for the same price. It seems fair to me and like a good compromise to keep a long term customer happy. Thank you for your time and concern in this matter.
    =============================================
I get a relpy back from a woman called Michelle. She tells me she spoke to her supervisor and gives me some price plans. The amount deal she gives me is more than what I was told previously and is more than an actual mailing (which I still have) that included both phone with internet! I'm then told I should call a service number and ask to speak to a supervisor. I tell her that I already called this number and got no where. She then says she will have a supervisor call me. I inform her that I work third shift, keep an odd sleep pattern which often means sleeping during the day and that I would prefer to handle this through email as it all seems simple enough to me. She tells me that she forwarded my email to a supervisor and they will contact me through email soon. I patiently wait two or three days and no reply. I email again and Michelle responds back with the standard textbook replies and tells me a supervisor will call me in 24-48 hours. I have to go through the whole process again on how I prefer to handle this in email this way we can both get back to one another at both our convience. For me personally, I don't have 24-48 hours waiting for someone to call me, nor do I want to be on the hold for a half hour and then arguing for another half hour or more.  So here I am, for the second time....days after I was told that a supervisor would email me in regards to my problem but yet I have still heard nothing.
It's not like I chose FIOS myself and now want to go back or anything. I merely bought a new house in which the previous owners wanted FIOS there....not ME. I see no reason why they cannot install the copper drop wire back or at the very least....give me FIOS for the price of my current DSL plan or at least something VERY comparible. I am totally put off that they would treat such a long, good standing customer so non-chalantly. While I would rather stay with Verizon, there are other options out there and I will pursue them if they continue to turn a blind eye to my problem.  You would think that they would want to keep me as a voice\DSL customer (even if it is for a lower contract price) rather then lose me as a customer all together. Should I decide to cancel my Verizon I most certainly will file complaints through the appropriate channels, contact my local TV "On Your Side"  team and possibly go as far as to consider small claims court for not honoring my current contract at my new residence\refusing to install the copper drop wire back. If Verizon truly does care about it's customers then I would love nothing more then to find someone willing to promptly help me in my situation. Thank you.

Be sure to reset your modem whenever you change what connects to it. Power it down.
Three days ago I went in to a bestbuy and bought a new 2013 Airport Express.
Is my Extreme a bad unit?
Did you purchase an 802.11n Express or an 802.11ac Extreme?
    Either way, update its firmware:
AirPort Base Station Firmware Update 7.6.4
    or
AirPort Base Station and AirPort Time Capsule Firmware Update 7.7.1
    respectively.
If it's still slow, return it. It's not normal.
Buy directly from Apple. The price is exactly the same and shipping is free.

  • I restored from iTunes backup but it goes back to 'welcome to your new iphone'

My iphone 5 was replaced today because of a faulty power button. I had done an iTunes backup this morning, choosing to backup iTunes purchases and the apps as well.
In order to restore the backup to my new phone I had to set it up as a new phone and update to 7.1.2. All good so far.
I then chose to restore from backup (dated today) and it all seemed fine until the restore was complete and the iphone restarted and I was taken back to the 'Welcome to Your New iPhone' screen. Thankfully my photos and contacts have come across but none of my iTunes library, emails or most of my apps. What I'd really like to retrieve are the notes I had in Notemaster...lots of important details about trip bookings, finances etc.
I suspect an incomplete/corrupt backup was made this morning as I think I'd used about 47gb on my phone and the backup file in my application support folder is 11.8gb (although I don't imagine that folder would include all the video & music from my iTunes library??). I thought I could go back to the backup I made in June but it looks like it was overwritten by the new backup I made today...is that right?
Can anyone please suggest a fix or am I going to have to set it up as a new phone in order to get past the 'welcome to your new iphone' screen. First I'd somehow have to back up all my photos and contacts or I'll probably lose them.
Actually, I've just downloaded iBackupBot and I can see all my notes in the backup I made this morning so they do still exist even though the app didn't download in the restore, in fact it looks like a lot of my user app files are there. What do I do now? My head hurts h e l p . . . p l e a s e

I don't think that you need to restore from the backup again. If you see nothing at all in the App Store. Try closing the app completely, reset your iPad and them try again.
In order to close apps in iOS 7, you have to drag the app up from the multitasking display. Double tap the home button and you will see apps lined up going left to right across the screen. Swipe to get to the app that you want to close and then swipe "up" on the app preview thumbnail to close it.
Reset the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider if it appears on the screen - let go of the buttons. Let the iPad start up.

  • My new HP all in one computer was recently connected to our new Photosmart 7510 printer. It worked

I own a one month old HP Omni 220 PC (all in one). The operating system is Windows 7. It is connected to wi-fi network in the home. The Internet portion works fine. And, for about 30 days, it would print to our new wi-fi connected HP Photosmart 7510 just fine. Today, it will not print. Our other computers connected to the network print just fine. So, it's not the printer, or the wi-fi. Can you tell me what might have happened within my PC, and what I need to do to fix the problem? I tried restarting the PC, and the printer but that didn't fix the problem. There have been no recent changes to the software or hardware configurations.
    Thanks,
    Bill

you have to file the music file if you dont itunes cant play a file that does not exist. check the get info and look for the old music file on your old computer. Or do this http://support.apple.com/kb/ht4527.

  • New home but no apparent VZ internet services

I checked on the Verizon site to see if I can purchase internet services at my new home.  Apparently, I can't (no internet service in the area).
What's strange is that there's a DSL box mounted on the outside of my home with 'Verizon' stamped onto it.
The home is 4 yrs old, so I can understand if services haven't been made available yet...but what's the deal with the DSL box already mounted.  Pre-staging?

I went through a similar issue.  On-line Verizon's web site said DSL was not available at my address.  I called repair after a tree took out our phone line and got to talking with the repair man.  When I asked him about DSL here, he thought for a moment and then said yes we should be able to get DSL.  A telephone call to Verizon got our DSL ordered and installed with no problem.
We're about 12 miles from the city associated with our exchange.  However there is a remote switch close to our location.  My thought is that the Verizon web site looks at your location and the distance to the city associated with your exchange to determine if DSL is available at your address.  It doesn't seem to take into account such things as remote switches.  IMHO.

  • Considering Arch For My New Home Server

My wife and I both use Arch full time on our desktop and two laptops, and we enjoy it a lot. Right now our current home server also runs Arch and works very reliably. In fact I don't think I ever had a problem with it. The server we use has some major hardware on it that would probably make it better off as a standard desktop and not a server (it has a great video card, for example) so I decided to buy or build a new server to replace it. (The current server is over four years old). The server will be responsible for SSH, Unison, DNS, and Samba.
I have decided to have three hard drives. One will be dedicated to the root and swap partitions. The other two will be dedicated to /home and will be on a software RAID1. The reason for this is because redundancy on the OS is not important to me (a Clonezilla image that I'll have stored will quickly restore the OS if I ever need to recover it) but redundancy on the data is really important since it will house all of our media (over 500GB worth). I have an offsite backup too so that's not an issue either. Also notable is the fact that the server will not have any GUI at all. Just the kernel and whatever is required to facilitate what it serves.
Anyway, here is where I'm wondering if Arch is still a good choice. My current server uses Arch and works 100% reliably, but is also not on any form of RAID either. Considering how often Arch changes, I fear that maybe an update would come along that would break the RAID, and that's the last thing I want to have happen. How reliable is Arch on a server from a RAID standpoint? I am also considering Debian, however, Debian packages rarely match the versions of our computers (especially Unison) so I don't think Debian serving an almost primarily Arch Linux household would work well.

That's well and good until 12 months later when you decide you want to install new package X, which depends on lib A, which means lib A has to be updated, but packages Y, Z, R, T,W,Q and V all need to be updated because they also depend on lib A and you end up with a big borked box.
Yes, experience has learnt me that
