WEP not working in Vista Home Premium with Linksys WRT54GS version 5

Bought a new computer with Vista and installed the router. Made it so WEP is enabled. When I try to connect with a laptop or my other computer in my home, it will not take the WEP key and says it can't connect. I've reinstalled and redid the network, still won't work. It works if I don't enable WEP, but I need security. Is this problem fixable or do I need to buy a different router? My second computer has the Wireless PCI adapter WMP54G. This adapter worked perfectly in my last computer. Any help?

Make sure your router has the latest firmware and try using WPA security. WEP is not that secure any more but something is better then nothing at all. Make sure your laptop has all the Windiws Updates and the firewall is off.

I use Mozilla firefox on my laptop and for some reason it keeps saying the connection timed out and I'm not connected to the Internet when I am. Why isn't iTunes recognizing my web configuration?

It probably has to do with your security and/or browser configuration.
When my laptop crashed last year and I had to get a new one, I dealt with the same thing. First, go to your control panel and select the security section. See if your firewalls are up or not. If they are, turn them off. If you have any software to speed up your browser, that can affect the connection as well. Go into that software and disble/turn it off. If this doesn't work, contact customer support. They have a few other tricks they had me try that worked, but I can't remember them now.

System Restore will not run on Vista Home Premium

I cannot get system restore to run on my T61 using Vista Home Premium I get messages like:
"The Restore point could not be created for the following reason: The writer experienced a transient error. If the backup process is retried the error may not reoccur". It did.
I also get "Rescue and Recovery Backup Service stopped working and was closed. A problem caused the applicaion to stop working correctly. Windows will notify you if a solution is available." It did not.
I have also been advised no restore points are available.
The net effect is I cannot use System Restore at all!
Has anyone else had a problem like this with system restore? Lenovo has been no help.I have had a number of Dell computers and this is my first (and last) Lenovo. When it was quite new and the problem occurred , I contacted them but they just blew me off..

So i assume that your T61 originally came with Vista Home premium installed??? Did you make the Recovery Media disks when you first got your machine??? If not call Lenovo up and obtain those disks, and then use them to reinstall your service partition and your OS.

Flash Player service 11.6 r602 stopped working OS Vista Home Premium

I keep getting the notification the Flash player service 11.6 r602 stopped working. My operating system is Vista Home Premium. What do I need to do to crrect this?

You CAN'T call Adobe for support for a "free" product. There IS NONE. What you CAN do to eliminate this is:
Right click ANY flash content on the web and choose "Global Settings"
Under the Advanced tab Check "Never check for updates (not recommended)"
This will stop the updater from ever starting and it won't stop working if it never starts.
The downsiade is you'll have to manually check for updates afterward.

AppleMobileDeviceHelper has stopped working - Windows Vista Home Premium 64

I have iTunes 9.0.1 on my Acer AX1700-U3700A running Windows Vista Home Premium 64-bit version. In case it matters I am using McAfee.
I can connect my iPhone 3G to my computer and iTunes finds it. But whenever I "right click" on the iPhone icon I get the dreaded "AppleMobileDeviceHelper has stopped working". I've followed Apple's uninstall and reinstall instructions twice to no avail. When I try "repairing" AppleMobileDeviceHelper I am told that I don't have the .msi file to repair it from.
I've tried the "Run iTunes as an Administrator" option but I get the same result.
I see some people recommend deleting the AppleMobileDeviceHelper binary altogether but want to make sure I'll be able to still sync my and my wife's iPhones and iPods.
Does Apple had a fix for this?
Is there some settings I need to change in McAfee? I've confirmed that iTunes has "Full Access" through McAfee (I'm only including this as in some other threads some pointed toward their anti-virus applications as part of the trouble.)

CD drive not working in vista home edition! HELP!

Hey,
I'm running vista home ed. on my macbook pro. for some reason the disk drive stopped working. I've tried re-installing the drivers from my leopard disc but that isn't fixing the problem. any suggestions? Basically I'll put a cd/dvd in the drive and then nothing will happen. I won't even be able to eject the disc.
this is the error that I get from the device manager:

Samsung LCD not working in Vista, but fine with OSX. Help!

Ok guys. I have read some of the posts on this topic, but they really haven't been helpful, so I am hoping someone can point me in the right direction. I have a Samsung 4671 TV, that when connected through DVI to HDMI on my MBP on OSX it works fine, on Vista my TV says mode not supported. Since, it works fine with OSX, I kind of doubt it is the TV. Has anyone had this problem with a similar setup and gotten it to work? Thanks.

I suspect it's the Vista DVI driver that is at fault. A Google search with 'Vista DVI driver apple' shows that others are having your same problem.

Error 0x00000709 Networked printer not working in a home network with HomeGroup enabled.

I should start by describing my network by device.
Gateway device - Motorola SB5120 SURFboard cable modem
Router/WAP device - Linksys Wireless G Broadband Router with 4 port Switch Model: WRT54G v4 Security: WPA2 with firewall.
Windows 7 Ultimate Desktop with Homegroup enabled (Printer driver installed & ethernet wired)
Windows 7 Pro Laptop set to homegroup for the Desktop (Ethernet wired and Wireless depending on the situation)
Windows 7 Home set to homegroup for the Desktop (Wireless)
Brother Printer Model: HL-2170W (Wireless)
HP Printer Model: HP Officejet 6500A Plus (Wireless)
What have I done?
Installed drivers on 2 of the 3 computers. The final computer (Win7 Home) was added in later and works fine when connecting to the internet through the WAP. However it does not even find the printer when trying to install the driver which is a part of the
process for driver installation for the Brother Printer.
I had set up the printer for two of the three computers and had it working at one time however in trying to get the printer set up for the final computer I somehow have messed up those settings.
During that setup I tried to move the printer to a networked printer (It was shared before and installed on the network with both the Desktop and the Win7Pro lappy able to print but it would not print for the new arrival to the Homenetwork. This caused
me to seek a solution which involved installing the proper driver in the Win7Home and the discovery that the driver installer could not find the Brother printer at all which prompted the moving of the printer to a networked printer.) (The Win7Home computer does
not find the HP printer either but that is a can of worms yet unopened.)
I am sure there are a few things that I did not do correctly and I may have left out some additional information which you may require. If I can help clarify this question please feel free to query me. I thank you in advance for your time and consideration.

May I know that are these two network printer with network adapter? If they are installed on the network, you could add them and install the drivers for Windows 7.

World Minutes not working on O365 Home Premium Sub...

I have 60 monthly World Minutes for Office 365. The subscription is active with 60 minutes left.
I am in the US in a Chicago suburb, and am trying to call a mobile number in the UK. The skype account I am using is via the Microsoft account - eg the same one tied to the O365 account.
This call to the UK number fails, saying I dont have enough credits on both windows 8.1 desktop client and the Android client. Both clients report I have 60 world minutes until september. Yet a call to a US phone works (my mobile).
What is wrong here? HELP! I need to make that call!

UK mobiles are not covered by that subscription. As stated at http://www.skype.com/en/offers/office365/ , the subscription covers the following:
Call landlines and mobiles in: Canada, China, Guam, Hong Kong SAR, Puerto Rico, Singapore, Thailand, and United States.

ITunes 7.6.1.9 Won't work on Vista Home Premium

Need someones help. Bought an IPOD and trying to install ITunes for the first time. Appears to install correctly, but ITunes and QuickTime won't open. Immediate error states "Itunes QuitTime Player or Itunes has quit working."
I've re-installed the program several times (about 8). I've cleaned the registry, turned off all virus protection, etc. Nothing helps.
Looking for a solution before I return the IPOD.

search in the forum for the thread "iTunes 7.6 won't shut down, freezes computer". At the very end, I found the solution to disable the "bonjour" service and to disable sharing the music in iTunes.

I doubt the sound system is gone. i tried restoring it several times. I havent mishandled it. Few days back there was audio distortion and slowness so i upgraded to the iOS 5 but the audio/ video doesnt work. Alerts ,sounds ... donot work..Please help me out...

Try a restore to factory defaults/new iPod. If still problem then you likely have a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

Imac running Safari Browser with Linksys wrt54gs version 6 wireless router

I am having problems getting the router to work properly I think. I am not sure that I have it connected correctly. This is my situation, I am able to go on the internet with no problems I have Airport extreme built into my mac and it is turned on.I am ale to go to that Ip link that allows you to enter in security information for the router. After I enter in the information such as changing the name and giving myself the wep security choice when I choose save changes then safari comes up saying that I am not connected to the internet. Ok now that is strange and in order for me to be able to go back to that Ip address in the web browser I have to reset the modem over again to be able to go back and enter Admin to access the linksys security settings again. So as it is right now it bothers me that I am a open network I am not secured. I have tried talking to linksys over the phone and nothing seemed to work. we make the necessary changes but then it wont allow to save because then it says that I am not connected to the internet at that point.I have right now the ethernet blue cable going from my Imac to my cable modem right now. I disconnected the linksys until I figure this out. Please if someone who has a built in Airport Extreme on there Imac could help me out with this I would be greatly appreciated.

well....if you have a windows computer I would suggest you to upgrade the router's firmware first...One of my relatives had a similar kind of problem and the issue was resolved by just upgrading the router's firmware
