My mailing system won't work, and I see many here have had the same problem. so I tried the suggestions I could find. My PC's OS is 'MS Windows Vista Home Premium'. As my initil question states: When downloading, after the download completes, I can not see, run, nor access the file in it's designated folder. The download only appears in the "Downloads" window and the only "Right Click" options permitted are to "Remove From List", "Select All", & "Copy Download Link" I also can not double click to run it. What's blocking it?
I have a similar problem when accessing .zip files that are attachments to my emails. Here, however, I can place the file in a designated folder, however, the .zip file and it's compressed content files are file-typed as "FireFox Document" and I get permissions errors when running an unzip tool.
Why are my download files being quarantined ??? Is there a security setting option I need to change???
To get around this, I'm using IE to download and install these files, but switching back & forth between FireFox & IE is a real pain.It's your anti-virus not working correctly while scanning. what happened is that my internet connection was not good so i downloaded .ipsw file from a torrent but now i cannot get it to update my ipad because ios 5.0.1 is out i tried copying files to ipad updates in the itunes folder but it still asked me to download a 700mb software update
plz helpIf you downloaded the correct version for your iPad model (and the different models have different ipsw files), then you should be able to navigate to it in iTunes by pressing and holding the shift key on Windows (command key on Mac) when clicking the Check For Updates button.

How to explain. OK 1st all photos are visible in my iPhoto library; however, some are stored on hard drive and some are stored on external. All can be marked or unmarked in itunes, but none of the photos stored on the external drive will sync to my iPad. Anybody know what's up with that?
What really cheeses me off here is that Apple isn't allowing users enough customization. With each update of iTunes (and the OS and iOS) we're forced to give up something that worked well for the way we want to use the app and make do with fewer (and lamer) options. If Apple keeps this up, they're going to start losing customers fast. I mean if this isn't fixed soon, I'm pretty sure I'm going to give up on iTunes, and then I'll probably go ahead and get a Galaxy when I need to replace my iPhone.
What I don't understand about how they won't let users delete the list of available podcasts now is why? How is this making it a better program? I can understand that not all users are capable enough to right-click on a feed and select "Show all available episodes", so I can see why they want the complete list to be the default (and, surprise, it already was). But to not give users the option to delete that list? It's inconsiderate because it makes navigating feeds with a large back catalogue really frustrating. I'm flabbergasted that no one at Apple considered all the podcast feeds that keep hundreds of episodes available when they removed this feature. It smacks of rank incompetence.
What improvement were they trying to make here anyway? There was nothing wrong to my mind about how podcasts were managed in previous versions. Whatever improvement they were trying to make here, they should have realized that many users would at least want the option to keep things the way they were.
And reverting to a previous version is no solution. I can't sync my iPhone with the new iOS without this update, and (while I do have some issues--specifically how you can't play podcasts in the Music app anymore) I do like the new iOS. -

I'm not sure whether you have tried the "usual" things:
When you have a problem with one particular site, a good "first thing to try" is clearing your Firefox cache and deleting your saved cookies for the site.
(1) Bypass Firefox's Cache
Use Command+Shift+r to reload the page fresh from the server.
Alternately, you also can clear Firefox's cache completely using:
* "3-bar" menu button (or Tools menu) > Options > Advanced
* Firefox menu > Preferences > Advanced
On the Network mini-tab > Cached Web Content : "Clear Now"
If you have a large hard drive, this might take a few minutes.
(2) Remove the site's cookies (save any pending work first). While viewing a page on the site, try either:
* right-click and choose View Page Info > Security > "View Cookies"
* classic Tools menu > Page Info > Security > "View Cookies"
In the dialog that opens, you can remove the site's cookies individually.
Then try reloading the page. Does that help?
In case one of your extensions is involved, could you test the page in Firefox's Safe Mode? That's a standard diagnostic tool to deactivate extensions and some advanced features of Firefox. More info: [[Troubleshoot Firefox issues using Safe Mode]].
You can restart Firefox in Safe Mode using either:
* "3-bar" menu button > "?" button > Restart with Add-ons Disabled
* Help menu > Restart with Add-ons Disabled

Before you go, move the files to I tunes and sync them down. There is no viable way to stream from your nas drive to the pad.

It's look like my Ipad is blocked. None of the icons are working. What can I do?
Try a reboot: Press and hold BOTH the power and home buttons at the SAME time for about 10 seconds (ignore the red slider) until the Apple Logo appears, then let go of both buttons and your iPad wil restart.

As I mentioned, the screen is black and unresponsive. However when ever I plug it into either my charger or my lap top it will make the expected sounds, it also [when plugged into my computer] opens up iTunes how ever the device can't be seen on the side bar. So far to resolve the issue I've tried.
- Attempting to turn it on
- A reset using the home/sleep button and the power button
- Plugging it into my computer to see if I can get it working through iTunes [Which so far is fruitless]
- Holding 3 fingers down in the screen in case my screen curtain was enabled [Nothing happened with that either]
- Putting it face down over my knee and slapping the back in case a cable was lose [Done this repeatedly and nothing happened]
I don't know what's wrong with it and I've been searching for solutions for about 2-3 hour's now. I'm hoping someone here might be able to help me as I would like to go through as many options as possible before trying to take it into the apple store.

I'm not sure how much information will be relevant but I'll give as much as possible is someone is able to help me.]Apple does not replace screens and your iPad is clearly out of warranty, not that accidental damage would be covered anyway. If you want to try to have your iPad fixed, there are 3rd party repair centers you can try. In your google search bar type the following:
"ipad repair "xxxxx"
Put your city in the "xxxx" for example, "tampa, fl"
There will likely be some options you could investigate.
Or, you could sell your iPad, even damaged to Gazelle.com and get yourself a shiny new iPad. And if you do, make sure you add AppleCare+ for $99. This not only increases your Apple technical support for two full years, but would get you up to two iPad replacements at $49 each. -

Try tapping the App, so that it changes to Paused instead of Waiting, then tap it again to resume the install.
Make sure you don't have any paused downloads in other apps either, like the App Store or iTunes Store.
If that doesn't do it, try resetting or restoring the iPhone.

As I said, the other day I had downloaded the latest version of Firefox and after doing so none of the icons for the different websites that normally go to are no longer there. Websites such as MSNBC, MSN, Most visited, that entire strip is no longer visible. I tired resetting Firefox and still nothing. Can anyone tell me how to get them to appear again? It's a hassle every time that I want to go to one of those sites I have to type it in the search bar, instead of just clicking on it as I did before. Please keep in mind if you answer, that I'm still learning about these things called computers and not very well versed in some of the things that you experts know:) Thanks
On Windows XP Firefox shows the menu bar by default and not the orange Firefox menu button that is shown when the menu bar is hidden.<br />
The menu bar is the toolbar at the top that shows menu items like File, Edit, View, History, Bookmarks, Tools, Help.<br />
You can press the F10 key or tap the Alt key to bring up the "Menu Bar" temporarily in case this bar is hidden (View > Toolbars or Firefox > Options).
The Navigation Toolbar shows the Back and forward button and the input field where you type the address of a site that you want to visit (aka location bar) and also has a search bar where you can type items that you want to look up with a search engine (Google).

I am trying to connect my JVC Hard Disk Drive Camcorder to my IPAD 2 via the Apple camera kit. I am able to download photos, but video files not showing. Camera shows Mass Stoarge. How can I download videos please?
The file name only has 6 characters and I'm not sure what the .mod format is. So that's why they are not seen by the iPad.
Another way to transfer. You can use a USB flash drive & the camera connection kit.
Plug the USB flash drive into your computer & create a new folder titled DCIM. Then put your movie/photo files into the folder. The files must have a filename with exactly 8 characters long (no spaces) plus the file extension (i.e., my-movie.mov; DSCN0164.jpg).
Now plug the flash drive into the iPad using the camera connection kit. Open the Photos app, the movie/photo files should appear & you can import. (You can not export using the camera connection kit.)

One non-VPP app on multiple iPads -- what's the current best practice?
So I've been playing around with Apple Configurator and think it has the potential to be useful in deploying multiple iPads (in this case, 18) to a client. I've been able to configure one iPad, take a backup of it, and then easily deploy that backup to 2 iPads. I've also been able to automatically install free apps... to a point.
In this particular test I set up an old version of Pandora I had on my Mac to be installed on my test iPads. I intentionally chose an old version of the app to see what would happen when it needed an update, assuming that it would ask for the personal iTunes account I originally used to download it. And sure enough, my assumption was vindicated -- after this iPad was prepared by Apple Configurator, I went to the App Store, attempted to update Pandora, and was prompted to enter my personal iTunes account password.
I figure that the next step would be to create an iTunes account specifically for downloading apps intended for deployment to clients, and I'm guessing I should just create individual iTunes accounts for each client, download the required apps, and configure each device to use that iTunes account. But is this viable? Is there some limit to how many devices you can associate with one iTunes account? Is this really the best they could do?This is a challenge. On our enterprise owned non-shared devices we ask the user, if they need to install apps that are non VPP, to use a personal iTunes account. Though the devices are owned by the enterprise, and have enterprise security policies on them, we allow the users to put personal music photo's etc on them, and back them up on home, not work computers, with iTunes. I think most users of non shared devices feel they are "personal" devices and treat them as such. We do put an IPCU profile on them, and do require encryption through Exchange Server policies. Shared devices, where 1 device might be used by a number of employees in one day (say in an Emergency Department for registrars), we associate with a enterprise created iTunes account that has the same name as the Exchange account used to attach the Exchange security policy to the device. We use restrictions on these devices to block app purchases, safari etc. In the case of the shared device, free apps would be installed by IT using the enterprise created iTunes account. We are in the process of getting an MDM which we expect to simplify all of this. My opinion ( for what it's worth) is that Apple is becoming much more enterprise aware and is moving toward making the scenarios described easier to deal with. iOS devices started as consumer centric devices but are being adopted in large numbers now by business, BYOD or otherwise.
