What are the right Color Settings and Proof Setup in Photoshop if you design for the web?

This question has come up numerous times, but I still haven't seen a satisfying, final answer. I would like to make sure that what I'm designing in Photoshop in regards to colors, saturation and brightness will be as close as possible as what I'm going to see in my Safari browser once that same page has been developed.
I understand there are going to be differences between monitors and browsers, but if I just could get an almost one to one translation in regards to color/saturation/brightness from my Photoshop file to that same developed HTML page in Safari that would be ideal.
Currently I set my Color Settings to Monitor RGB - Display and my Proof Setup to Monitor RGB. Not sure if these settings are correct.
Curious to hear your thoughts and advice.
Thanks,
-Tony

if AdobeRGB is the more professional working space, then why not use that profile?
on the web (and in unmanaged and broken work flows) sRGB is the safest profile (source space)
just open your tagged Adobe RGB and tagged ProPhoto RGB document (use the embedded profile in each document)
and go to View> Proof Setup: Monitor RGB (notice the loss in saturation? that's how most of the people on the Internet will be viewing your color, assuming you have a standard-gamut monitor like most people)
always CONVERT to sRGB for the World Wide Web
i didn't read your link
anyone who recommends "disable color management in Photoshop" -- set Working RGB to "Monitor RGB" -- AND MOST UNBELIEVABLY -- "Don't color manage this document" (ignore embedded profiles) ------ is pretty mixed up (in my opinion)
i will recommend reading JEFF SCHEWE and BRUCE FRASER for professional color management information

I hear it was Blue tag but they either sold it or dropped it because they make no claim for it.  Does anyone kknow of a group calendar for IOS that will report the color choices as well as the  data? What is the problem specifiaclly?
If the images are intended for web use I would recommend converting them to sRGB which could be done with Edit > Convert to Profile or with File > Save for Web, but as including a Save step in Actions and applying them as Batch can sometimes cause problems I would go with regular converting.
You could also try Image Processor Pro.

Same as you would if you bought a pc; copy everything from your old computer to your new one.  Then you can just sync everything from the new computer, as you did with the old one.

  • Hi i upgrade from lion to mountain lion to day on my mini mac,Since the upgrade i am getting no sound through my HDMI cable which was working fine on lion Checked the midi audio settings and system preferences to out on HDMi nothing no sound whats so ever

Hi i upgraded from lion to mountain lion to day on my mini mac,Since the upgrade i am no longer getting sound through my HDMI cable which was working fine on lion Checked the midi audio settings and system preferences to out on HDMi nothing no sound whats so ever.Any one any ideas?
I use a samsung TV for my monitor via HDMI.Tried all the system Audi setting nothing .Head phone and internal speakers are fine.

Similar issue; Audio was working fine on Lion, now not on Mountain Lion. Have a Macbook Pro early 2011 with AMD Radeon HD 6750M, connected by thunderbolt through a Lacie LBD to a mini-displayport to HDMI adapter (n.b. same problem when not going through the LBD) to a Pioneer VSX 521 AV receiver. For me when I go into audio Midi settings all the volume sliders for the displayport device are greyed out and at zero. But when I click 'configure speakers', it's able to send out the test signals to each speaker. Part of the problem could be that I'm not getting the option to put out 6channel sound, only 2 or 8 channel. Since my system is Dolby 5.1, and I only have 6 speakers, I would have expected the 6ch option to be available. But I imagine there's more to it than that. Elsewhere someone has suggested playing with Remote Interactive over HD on an Onkyo device; I'll see if there's something similar on the Pioneer that can be changed. Any other suggestions welcome.

How do you find the pantone reference for a color in a color scheme?

    Hi Monika,
What is the reason that it is possible to search for (explore) color themes from within the Color Themes panel in InDesign and Photoshop, but not in Illustrator? Seems a bit odd…

  • FAQ: How do I choose the right sequence settings?

In general, the settings of a sequence should match those of the primary footage type in the sequence. Though Premiere Pro can mix footage of various types in a sequence and compensate for differences in characteristics, performance and quality are maximized when such conversions are avoided.
See this video for more information:

Sorry to say this - but you've got the wrong advice from Adobe.
You were right in selecting the profile for Epson premium glossy paper - if that's what you are printing on.
The magenta cast is most probably due to double color management, i.e. color management for your printer was not switched off. You did all the right moves , but still the color management for the printer was not switched off. This seems to be an Epson - Lightroom problem. You are about the fourth poster who has this problem with Lightroom and Epson printers. All of them said that they were sure that they had color management by the Epson printer switched off. There seems to be a hidden setting that prevails or is called by Lr.
The magenta cast is typical for double color management.
Read this - maybe it helps: http://people.csail.mit.edu/ericchan/dp/Epson3800/printworkflow.html#display_calibration
Don't miss the section on  "How to print images from Lightroom".
I don't have an Epson printer so can't give you further insight on this. Except ...
Disable - temporarily - all custom print profiles and templates that you may have created. Move them to a different folder where Lr does not find them. I cannot guarantee that this helps but if the problem persists it might be worth a try.
One of the above mentioned posters said that the problem disappeared after disabling an old print preset that he had created for a prior version of Lr.

  • I cannot use the right colors for a web image.

I cannot use the right colors for a web image. Photoshop CC keeps replacing colors because my colors are "out of color space for print" or something like that (I hope I translated it right - I work with PS Dutch version and this forum is only in English).
I am not interested in printing at all. I do not want any adaption for printing! I only want the right color on screen for a web image.
I changed the color settings many times,  I created my image all over again, but Photoshop keeps replacing my vivid red by pale pink because of print colors.
    Thanks for your help.

Use SRGB color space. and in the color picker when you see the warning don't click on the warning to have it fix the issue. As that will change the color you want want to use.

  • How to push color settings and profiles?

I understand AAMEE 3.0 does not support packaging settings alltogether with the apps.
So the questions comes, how do you guys push the color settings and the workspaces to the newly deployed CS6 packages?
Is there a safe/approved way to do it?
    Thank you.

FOGRA39 is fine for sheet fed offset-printing in Europe (central Europe at least).
For web fed offset printed magazines you may want to use either ISO Coated v2 300 (ECI) or PSO LWC Improved (ECI) if you have no further information.
    And for newspapers ISOnewpaper26v4.
    http://www.eci.org/doku.php?id=en:downloads
You may want to read up (in the Help or  other resources) on Color Management, though, to get a grasp on factors like Render Intent.
And better not use »Assign Profile« unless you are certain you understand what this does.
Will be printed CMYK image as well, as it looks?
That would naturally depend on your monitor and how regularly it is calibrated.

  • P7N vanilla 750i - what are some good OC settings?

Hi - my first post here! I am an overclocking noob, and need a little advice: the board is MSI 750i P7N vanilla edition - not diamond or platinum, just standard. CPU is e6850, ram is 4X1 GB Corsair xms ddr -800. Cooler is Vendetta2, PSU is xFinity 650, and GPU is nvidia 9800GTX+. So I did tweek the FSB to 1393 and that worked, but trying to go higher resulted in no post. I found the same with DOT - setting it to more than "private" resulted in no post. Oh ya - bios is Ami V2.1
So what settings are you guys using?

Thank you FP for the link to Real Temp.
Real Temp, in it's second screen, shows min-max CPU VID which will tell us how high the CPU V's can be raised without causing permanent damage or overly shortening the CPU's life. Any amount of OC'ing has the potential to shorten component life.
You have made the first step, & did it the right way. Raise FSB Clock till it stops post. In your case 1393. Next step is to bump up (with Spread Spectrum disabled), the FSB Clock to 1394 with CPU V. in Cell Menu raised one step above auto, +0.0125 & see if it posts, & proceed from there in small increments until you reach your goal.
Recommend opening a written log book of all current settings in bios before proceeding, as by a fourth restart, the bios more than likely will need to be reset again. (Also record all the 'final' working settings & V's so as to return to them if needed).
Did find data for an XFinity 600, but not a 650. The 600 had two +12V rails, V1 18A & V2 20A, so don't expect the 650 to be less.
CPU-Z, Everest, & Real Temp, & others, are great tools to help with valuable information to OC successfully.
It's very possible, with just raising the CPU V's a small amount, & raising FSB Clock, you will reach 3.2G's fairly easy.
    Target: FSB Clock 1424 (356) X9 Multiplier = 3.204G's.
As a side note, it may also be possible to optimize your mem. modules as well. Are they PC-6400's or PC-8500's?

  • What are my rights? iPod burned out - out of warrantee

    Hi,
My iPod classic 120GB recently stopped working all of a sudden. The back went really hot when I was charging it. Then it went cold. I thought it might have been the battery. But now suspect it is the logic/motherboard.
I took it into Apple. Who then booked my in for a Genius bar appointment the following week.
As the iPod was two months out of warrantee, I was given three options:
    1) Google UK ipod repairs - and get a third party ipod repair shop to fix it. But was warned I would get no warrantee and it might break again.
    2) Get a genius bar replacement - costs £89 but only has a warrantee of 90 days
    3) ipod recycle. I could give my ipod into them to be recycled, and get 10% off a new ipod (excludes ipod shuffle).
Ive just posted on another board on where would be the best place to get a new one (best deal) and had a few replies stating that as its only two months out of warrantee I could have a case for a replacement under the sales of goods act and my statutory rights.
What are my rights on getting a replacement for free? Another lady posted up that her daughters ipod was 6 months out of warrantee and they replaced it for free!
Do Apple base their customer service on how people look? Surely it should be consistent throughout the board?
    Opinions?

Good luck to you in your endeavor, hope you get a good outcome. And no, I'm not familiar with all the consumer rights, but if the net effect is to extend the warranty period past the stated period, say by 6 month? A year? Two years? then Apple, and other companies in the UK will have to adjust the price points of their products in your country making them more expensive to purchase.
Did you ever take your iPod to an Apple Store, along with your MacBook Pro, and have them look at it? Send it in for service? The fact that your iPod failed after updating to iTunes 9 may be a pure coincidence, particularly since you have now restored it under iTunes 8 and it still does not work.
The link you keep providing is from 2006 and clearly explains the Apple representative was misquoted, so what is the purpose of it. Yes, they are designed to work "for" years. Will some of them fail in a shorter time period? Yes. Will some fail shortly after the warranty period? Yes. The statement you quote does not belie that.
I hope your endeavor results in some positive outcome, but a warranty period is just what it states and no "assumption" of a longer life entitles the purchaser to a replacement, free service, whatever. Other wise the warranty would state the warranty period is "for years". Kind of imprecise.
And your analogy to cars, houses, etc. doesn't really work. Cars are warranted for usually no less than 3 years/36,000 miles and some of them last decades. But if they break at 38 months you are going to have to cover the cost of a repair. Some houses have no warranty whatsoever.
I have had success in the past in dealing with Apple over products that were marginally (2 months in one case) past the warranty date with satisfaction. I note you have not yet responded how your direct dealings with Apple have gone.
