After installing the new Colour Management Module, I now have the new option of 'Adobe CMM' as well as the old 'Adobe ACE' and 'Microsoft ICM' in Photoshop CS3 and other Adobe applications.
What benefits does the new CMM bring to the table?? As it is new, I would expect benefits, otherwise resources would not have been wasted in creating it, but what benefits??

anyone got any ideas why my digital (raw) images from the camera - once downloaded to computer present when viewed in explorer photo /fax viewer as the colours which they print with yet if I save the image into Photoshop elements V5 to crop, zoom, and otherwise manipulate they look EXTREMELY washed out in photoshop V5. This of course means that if I want to adjust colour, brightness etc I have to keep saving and going back to explorer photo /fax viewer to see what they REALLY will print like.

Recently there was a forum update that disabled new posters to add images
(AND links?) Supposedly this was to reduce spam. So far so good.
Not surprisingly, immediately after the update we have numerous posts in the Forums Issues forum complaining about this feature and no doubt plenty of users just submitting to this policy in silence.
This whole feature is a SEVERE (that's right. bold AND in caps) hindrance. I don't have the stats, but I'm sure a considerable percentage of
(non spam) original posts are from new users with no previous forum activity. Pictures are especially important in the Chart Control forum as visualization is what charting is all about.
(This is the forum I frequent. So yes, I'm biased.)
Ofcourse, I'm sure the forum developers have weighed the pros and cons and studied the stats and then decided what to do after serious consideration...
The question is: What exactly does a new poster have to do to get permission to post images? Wait for how long? Reply to a confirmation email? "Participate" more?
(Say it ain't so.) How much more?
If there really is a workaround by adding an image tag with the edit html button, I don't want to hear it. It's as silly a way to add images as in the before times, the long long ago.
(Also, if this is possible, this whole restriction feature is actually worse than useless. Spammers will exploit this sooner than later. (A very good point made by our dear friend Quincy in a post that has since been deleted it
seems.))

I believe answering that question defeats the purpose of having the "feature".

I was hoping to add some explanation to the chart forum FAQ, I guess "Body text cannot contain images or links until we are able to verify your account."
(if this really is the only message new posters get) will have to do.
I still feel this is more of a hindrance to the quality of the forums than not. As confirmed it seems by Naomi, spammers already have a workaround.

What does the message say to the user who cannot post links and images yet? We should map to that language.

It says "Body text cannot contain images or links until we are able to verify your account."
If this means you will get a verify email, then you should get a verify email. The message infers that either action will be taken by the forum mods that will be apparent to the user or that the user needs to take some sort of action.
If this is not the case, the wording needs to be changed; it should not mislead you. This is an incredibly vague status message.
I do not have any record of a verify email in my inbox history. All I have is an email this morning from MSDN Site Support (I also posted a request yesterday in MSDN Site Feedback) asking me which account I needed verified. I only have one account.
Almost immediately after I replied, I was able to post links and photos. Honestly I do not know which came first though, the "verification" or my reply to the email or someone noticing the thread about compaining about it a month after signing up.

Seriously, I doubt that your answer helped Erik. He has two issues.
He installed the new program and has a double icon folders with software. One for the new & one for the old. (I have this same problem.)
He must have attempted to open one of the products and no longer see his personal settings transferred over. (The install will ask to have those settings migrating, but you have to accept it. eh, I could be wrong; but, that what i remembered doing.
I concur with his first.
However, i can not get any of my products to work. Ie. have to constantly click on icon to open; once open i get a unexpected error and have to close. I'm on a mac pro w/ latest os system.
In addition, I have tried to uninstall the older by clicking on the application's manager icon.; Unfortunately, it shuts down at each attempt. Therefore, I am unable to un-install the old product or the new.
Possibly, we were hoping that the new product would be simply updated if an old recent was already installed.
Instead, the installation simply created a new icon and the new folder with product.

hey everyone, it would be great if i could find an answer to this and i think it might be negative, but it's worth a shot.
i was wondering if the logic board on the i5 or i7 on the macbook pro would be able to fit on the 2010 model of the macbook pro.
Currently I'm running the latest version of lion which is 10.7.2 with a 2.66 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo and 8 gigs of ram. I just upgraded the ram because even with just basic processing it was running more than max capacity with 4 gigs. To me that's absolutely insane seeing as that it was just resting.
I understand that the new logic board has the thunderbolt capability and that that port would be inaccessable to the current outfit that my body has as of right now.
I guess I'm just wondering if the board would still line up with the 2010 macbook pro model as far as the USB and other ports go.
p.s. if the apple community could rise up maybe and tell apple to release a free upgrade to the new system saying "OUR BAD, SORRY FOR THE PROCESSOR SCREW UP" that would be great. because i know so many people that have complained just like the windows vista users did

In my mind, there is only one thing to do, and that is to bring it back to wherever you had the repairs done and have them fix it correctly under warranty. You should not have to pay for more repairs unless they can clearly demonstrate to you that there have been three completely separate issues which needed three different repairs.

I suspect unless he had some items in iCloud backup then they are gone. Connecting an iPhone to a different library from that to which it was previously connected will result in the device asking if you want to erase it.

Before you connect any device to a new library go to the Devices tab of the the preferences panel via Edit > Preferences (Windows) or iTunes > Preferences (Mac) and ensure the box next to Prevent iPods, iPhones, and iPads from syncing automatically is ticked. You can now safely connect the device to your computer without the danger of media being automatically deleted or overwritten.
To get all your content off your connect your iPad to your new computer.
Then use a 3rd party piece of software to transfer your content

okay from reading posts it seems if I transfer my backed up info from my old comp to the new one and erase my dad's phone's back up i could reset my phone and it would transfer all my old data back onto the phone, be linked to the new computer and i could proceed. In some windows, seems more likely after a crash recovery (but not sure there's a connection), Firefox puts the New Tab "+" button to the left of my tabs instead of the right. This is annoying, because once you're used to clicking it to the right of your open tabs, it's confusing to sometimes find it to the left.
If I go into Customize mode, it still shows the "+" tab on the right, but as soon as I close Customize, it's really still there on the left edge of the screen.
Why does this happen and can I stop it? I have seen no reports of this problem posted by others, but it's been happening for me since at least Version 12 and not fixed by version 13.0.1.

This may be related to session restore.

I just tested that since I hardly ever use full screen mode, this was the first time since I upgraded to Mountain Lion, and it worked fine for me.
Try shutting Safari down and see if that changes anything.
If that doesn't change anything, try shutting down and then rebooting.

To reiterate Larry's question are you trying to copy
your iPhoto Library package in it's entirety to the flash drive
or
just the photos that are in the library?
Each requires a different process.
If it't the former reformat the flash drive to OS X Extended (journaled) and drag the iPhoto Library package from your Pictures folder to the flash drive.
If it's the latter export them to a folder on the Desktop first viaFile ➙ Export ➙ File Export and Kind = Original and drag the folder onto the flash drive.

You will need to Upgrade to Snow Leopard to get a Compatible version of iTunes to Sync your Device.

Time Machine doesn't erase old backups. That's only done when your Time Machine disk or Time Capsule gets full.
If you want to mean that you have connected the Time Capsule to another Mac to create another Time Machine backup, you should know that the old backup isn't modified, and you can still restore files from that old backup > http://pondini.org/TM/E3.html
