I don't think that a software update from Apple will solve the issues that you are having. You have a rogue installation. After you posted I have just done the following:
Disk Utility can verify my partitioned Volume (including my boot disk) AND REPAIR the non-boot disks on the same Volume without a glitch. It repairs the non-boot disks containing data smoothly.
I have used Mail to send some mails from some Yahoo and Hotmail accounts to my Thunderbird client containing GMail accounts - absolutely normal.
I have iLife '09 but my iMovie '09 and iPhoto '09 open in a jiffy and I see no issues here. I have 6GB RAM (Maximum) on an early 2008 Macbook Pro with a 750GB hard drive partitioned with 120GB reserved for the Boot Drive.
I am sorry that I cannot help further but I am sure there must be a way to reinstall the software without having to revert to restoring your ML backup. I have two clones and if you have such I would attempt to do that through that rather than through Time Machine - that is of course if you have a cloned drive.

Have you checked your Control Panel to make sure you don't have the flashlight turned on?
Swipe up from the bottom of the screen and make sure the flashlight icon (bottom left-hand corner) is not white. If it is, tap on it to turn it off.

Unfortunately, you cannot do very much with your phone unless you get assistance from the previous owner, they should either provide you with the password to unlock it or remove their account from the phone entirely remotely through iCloud.com > Find My Phone.

Trying to update iPhone 4S from iOS 7 to iOS 8. All PC software up to date, and 2 phones and 1 iPad already updated successfully.
Old software was extracted, but upon completion of updating to iOS 8, error message (6) and "this phone could not be updated"
After several attempts, was offered message to "update" or "restore". Update obviously did not work, so tried restoring.
This also failed. Now the phone is "dead" shows no name on the PC, and bears an iTunes icon with a plug connection icon - suggesting
I should plug it in to a USB port, when it is already plugged in. There is no acknowledgement between the PC and the connected iPhone!

1) It doesn't ring. Ever. If I have an earpiece in, it will sometimes ring in it. It rarely vibrates. And, yes, I have checked that it is set to ring.
2) It gives message notifications late . . . VERY late. I can get a notice of a voice mail message up to four hours after the message was left. Text messages frequently arrive 1/2 hour or more after they were sent.
3) It cannot connect to any WiFi network. It doesn't see them. I have tried both resetting the phone (holding home-sleep/wake until the apple logo comes on) and resetting network connections (in settings). No effect.
4) This is the best: It doesn't keep the time. If I have it configured to set time automatically, it drifts to become incorrect. I have seen it be up to an hour off. I even showed it to a disbelieving Genius at an Apple Store. He was impressed. Two things about this: (a) if I turn OFF set time automatically, it keeps time perfectly and (b) I have seen the time correct itself after the phone has been plugged in for recharging. This brings us to:
5) My battery performance is unimpressive. Not horrible. But far from good.
I am wondering if I have too weak a battery and if the phone, to conserve power, goes into some super-sleep mode in which even turns off network connections.
The Genius Bar guy told me to restore settings, which I have done. In fact, I completely switched settings with those of a working phone (This had been my wife's phone. She thought I was more worthy of this problem than she. So we swapped and she got my perfectly working G3.)
Does anyone have any idea of what could cause this? Does anyone have any idea on how I can escalate the problem to a level which might be interested in such a unique combination of failures?

Try adjusting the volume with the headphones disconnected.
If the iPhone shows (headphones) even though they are disconnected, there may be debris in the headphone jack.

Did the iPhone see and join the Wi-Fi network at the Apple retail store?

If you are using the iPhone with any accessories try testing it without them.
Try restoring the iPhone and setting it up as a new phone if you haven't already.
Also you can ask the cellular service provider for a replacement SIM, which may resolve the service issues.

My iphone 4S has started turning itself off completely. When I power it back up, it allows me to log in my code and when I push the enter button it turns itself completely off again. I am trying to decide if it can be fixed or should I just buy a new iphone? This AM it is working just fine??????

DO NOT restore from backup, rather sync your content back to your phone. If doing this doesn't fix things, you most likely have a hardware issue.

Unfortunately, there's nothing you can do about it.
I don't know where or from whom you bought it, but you either didn't ask the proper questions or you were lied to or otherwise misled.
The phone is useless to you. Sell it to someone in the US and purchase a phone you can use in Ireland. Locked phones are not unique to the smartphone world. It's been happening since the dawn of cell phones. In the US, it was not even possible to purchase an unlocked phone of any kind until a few short years ago.

All of a sudden my iPhone 4 stopped giving out sound... I can change d ringtone n speaker works fine but no sound for incoming calls... No click sound... No keyboard sound...

On the left side of the phone above the volume + and - buttons there should be a toggle switch (silence switch) if you see orange/red that means your iPhone is in vibrate mode and will be quiet.
Switch the toggle so it shows no orange/red and that should correct the issue.
If you still get no sound after that you may want to check your bluetooth to make sure its not connected to another device (sound is being sent there) ...
If that doesn't work, stick some headphones into the headphone jack and see if you can hear the sounds from the headphones... the device may also think there is headphones plug'd in which can also be the issue
If the issue persists past that explore the option of restoring the device from the last time it did make sound and if that doesn't work you may need to contact Apple for other options

I don't know if this will help but have you tried switching the audio output to 16-bit? On the AppleTV, click Settings, Audio & Video, Audio Output. The two choices are "auto" and "16-bit". Good luck!

My 5th Generation IPod Touch keeps pausing, opening Siri, and crashing when I play music?

I won a brand new 64gb 5th gen iPod touch back in November, everything has been great with it until recently. Lately it has been glitching out whenever I try to play music. It seems to be only when the headphone are plugged in that it does it, but it happens daily and has become an inconvenience. It tends to pause, play, open Siri (ask her a question) sometimes speed up the song, and ultimately crash. Does anyone know of this and/or know how to fix it? I've tried a system restore with backing up info but nothing else. Thank you.

Hope your issue was fixed. With iOS 7 and now 7.0.4 the iPod touch fifth generation I have still crashes I have don't a soft restore, a complete restore from back up and also setup as new. Nothing worked. Saw the folks at the apple store on five different times. So they finally gave me a replacement. This has been going on since the new release. The only thing I have found is that it looses internet connectivity so I can put it in airplane mode. Close all apps. Then go back to wifi mode and some times this worked.
Your issues seem slightly different. But the irregularities began for me with issues with my music library on my iPod touch.
It's so frustrating to have such an expensive device functioning so poorly.

I have a problem with my iPhone5. I went for a jog with my iPhone5 and when i was done and at home i notice my iPhone wasn't on. So i pressed the power button and it wont say that its battery dead or anything and so i left it charging for an hour but it still wont turn on. It wont charge on my computer or wall plugins. Or it wont show that little battery charging symbol. It just wont turn on or charge. If i plug it to iTunes it wont show my iPhone there too. Or even on my computer. Come to think of it i havent payed my phone bill.
