What class handles deciding if method called is Private/Public,etc?

What class is the one that handles whether or not the caller has access to a method (i.e. when they call, it checks that it is private or whatever, and then allows calling or not)?

No class at all is responsible for that, but the virtual machine.

  • What's the chain of methods called for painting components?

    Hi, I'm trying to find out at what point components are painted within a container, as in what methods are being called for that component to be rendered to the graphics context.
    I've tried watching for calls going to paint, paintAll and paintComponents, but if a component has been added to a container it seems that even if I override all of those methods of the container the components that have been added still get displayed.
    So I suppose I have two questions:
    * - What is the chain of methods called when a container is told to paint/repaint itself?
    * - What are the purpose of paintAll & paintComponents, I can't find anything that actually uses these calls.
    Thanks in advance,
    L

    Well it seems that the paint method of the component is being called from sun.awt.RepaintArea.paint(...) which itself is being kicked off from handling an event that's been thrown.
    That's clearer now....but has anyone seen when paintAll, paintComponents or the printXXX counterparts have actually been called by a part Sun's code? I can see how they (Sun) would advocate a practice lke this, but it would seem kinda lame for them to suggest it and then for them not to use it themselves.....that's why I think there's probably something in the JRE that does call these methods at sometime....can anyone cast some light on this?

    Hi!
    Thank you very much for your help, I appreciate it a lot.
    While I test my server, I execute ping www.myclienthost.com -t (my client games are in other office, in the same building, but different ISP) and I don't see anything strange, so I guess network is working perfectly. However, if I use wireshark (sniffer) and I see that my system fails (server does not send acks so client disconnects) is because my acks messages are not sended for 6 o 7 seconds (it should send them every 2 or 3). It seems thread is blocked. and after 6 or 7 seconds one message with 2 or 3 acks together is sent. So, I see that the thread handler blocked for a few seconds and this is doing my server is failing. Why client handler thread on my server is blocked? One question: every 2 or 3 seconds I have a thread that uses sleep that iterates thru client handlers and takes OutputStream and send one ack message for every client handler. My question is, in client handler class I have a method called SendInfo(String whatever) which encrypts and sends through OutputStream, should I protectd this method from accesing from two threads??? as acks thread and client thread can access at the same time. Could this be the problem??
    EDIT: In my previous post I forgot to say what I found out with wireshark. Here I explain it. Sorry.
    By the way, how can I debug threads?? I would like to know if my client thread is blocked in that critical moment.
    Thanks a lot for your ideas and sorry for my English.

    I have tested static client calling using handler simple above service and found the issues.
    QName portName = new QName(namespace,

    The above line code has created the issues,becuase in wsdl file ( given similar wsdl file).

    From the above WSDL, I have four port name (port binding="tns:Hello_Binding" name="*RemoteServicePortType1*) which is not matching with PortType (portType name="*RemoteServicePortType*")
    even i have iterated from getPorts() method and used to invoke the service.But handler was not calling when i invoke.
    Please guide me here how i specify correct portname which can call Handler class also.

  • Int not increased when incremented in method call

    Hi,

          printString(i++);
    }Thanks

    It is incremented, just after the print, as pointed out above.No, it's incremented before the printString method is recursively called, but after the argument's value (the value of the expression i++) has been determined.
    As it stands, if he calls that method with i <= 5, it will recursively call itself with the same value until the stack blows up.Yes, yes, I know. Stupid me. The print just simply doesn't get the incremented value.
    P.S. I didn't realise it was a recursive method. I saw "print" and thought it was simply an SOP (you know what they say, that you see what you expect to see). ;-)

  • To what class does this method belong?

    If one sees in the documentation something like
    - (retType *) text1:(Type1 *)aType1 text2:(Type2 *)aType2;
    then to what class does this method belong? I do not see in the Objective-C documentation any way that one can tell without the 'context' in which the method is declared or defined. This makes reading the documentation very difficult (for me). What you see is not what you get. There is stuff missing.
    In my world there is no difficulty in determining the class to which a method belongs. It is stated explicitly in the method name. For example:
    PROCEDURE (self: MyClass) methodName (arg1: Type1; arg2: Type2);
    and one sees that 'methodName' belongs to 'MyClass'.
    In Objective-C how does one know the class to which a method belongs? Is it only determined by context, that is, by the fact that it is within the @implementation section or that it is within the @interface section? If that is the case then I would think that in documentation one should always be required to assert something like:
    <<MyClass>> -(retType *) text1:(Type1 *)aType1 ...
    -Doug Danforth

    PeeJay2,
    I think I now have the distinctions needed but still have a question about what you said. But first here is my current understanding. A "method" is by definition bound to *at least* one class whereas a "message" need not be bound to any class. Hence one can send any message to any class and it will either be handled or ignored. A message looks like a method signature (and maybe one but is not constrained to be one).
    The difference between C++ and Objective-C is that in C++ method calls are not messages sent to a receiver. They are just calls of the method for the dynamically bound object. That method must be syntactically correct at compile time whereas messages need not be syntactically correct for any receiver. At least that is my current understanding.
    Now my question. You state that "casting the receiver of a message will in no way alter the flow of the code". I attempted to test this with a simple program but ran into a problem (see my new posting "Multiple classes in one file?").
    Assume the following
    @class Child : Parent
    Child *child = [[Child alloc] init];
    Parent *parent = [[Parent alloc] init];
    Parent *bar;
    bar = child;
    [bar doSomething]; // (C) call to child's doSomething method?
    [(Parent *)bar doSomething]; // (P) call to parent's doSomething method?
    You comment seems to say that both case (C) and (P) give the same result. If they do then which result is it the parent's or the child's method (assuming that the child has indeed reimplemented the parent's method)? Have I understood you correctly?

  • Abstract method called in an abstract class

    Hello,
    I am writing some code that I'd like to be as generic as possible.
    I created an abstract class called Chromozome. This abstract class has a protected abstract method called initialize().
    I also created an abstract class called Algorithm which contains a protected ArrayList<Chromozome>.
    I would like to create a non abstract method (called initializePopulation()) which would create instances of Chromozome, call their method initialize() and full the ArrayList with them.
    In a practical matter, only subclass of Algorithm will be used, using an ArrayList of a subclass of Chromozome implementing their own version of initialize.
    I have been thinking of that and concluded it was impossible to do. But I'd like to ask more talented peaple before forgetting it !
    Thanks,
    Vincent

    Ok, let's it is not impossible, juste that I had no idea of how doing it :-)
    The difficulty is that Algorithm will never have to deal with Chromozome itself, but always with subclass of Chromozome. This is usually not an issue, but in that case, Algorithm is required to create instances of the desired subclass of Chromozome, but without knowing in advance wich subclass will be used (I hope what I say makes any sense).
    Actually I may have found a way in the meantime, but maybe not the best one.
    I created in Algorithm an abstract method :
    protected abstract Chromozome createChromozome()The method initializePopulation will call createChromozome instead of calling directly the constructor and the initialize() method of Chromozome.
    Then subclass of Algorithm will implement the method createChromozome using the desired subclass of Chromozome.

  • ActiveX in BradySoft (CodeSoft) - What Class/Method/Object's would I use to send variable form data to BradySoft?

    What Class/Method/Object's would I use to send variable form data to BradySoft? I have a basic label setup in BradySoft and I want to send it variable form data (a serial number) from Labview ActiveX. I have attached Brady's ActiveX programmers guide but can't figure out what to use for this. P.S. I would call Brady or TekLynx tech support about this but they have a strict policy whereas BradySoft supports ActiveX but their tech support doesn't provide programming help with it. I figured I'd try the NI Forums.

    Aaronb, I presume by publishing an ActiveX programmers manual the BradySoft software installs Active X objects. You may choose to interact with these objects within LabVIEW using Active X controls. The following link will provide a starting point for LabVIEW help topics on Active X communication: Select ActiveX Object Dialog Box

  • How to load a class dynamically and then a call a method?

    Hi
    I want to call a method from a class,which class is loaded dynamically.
    Consider a classA and ClassB..
    ClassB contains a method showvalue() which returns a String value.
    I want to load a ClassB dynamically in ClassA,and call the method showvalue() and print the returned value of that method (showvalue).
    How to do this?
    Thanks

    Since you found your way to Reflections and Reference Objects, I can only assume you know that reflection is the answer. Since the reflection tutorial on this site, and indeed, the many others on the web, can explain this a whole lot better and more consisely than can be done in a forum, I'll point you in that direction instead. As a starting point, and to show I'm not just fobbing you off, you're interested in the classes java.lang.Class, java.lang.reflect.Method, and the method Class.getMethod(String, Class[])

  • Setting breakpoint on any method call of a class

    Using the new (or old) debugger, is it possible to set a breakpoint that will stop on any method invocation of a class?
    I am debugging the processing of a purchase order and want the debugger to stop on any method call to CL_PO_HEADER_HANDLE_MM, which has 113 methods, so setting a breakpoint in each method is way too tedious.
    Do you know of a way to do this in one go?

    Activate Layer-Aware Debugging for class CL_PO_HEADER_HANDLE_MM, and then set breakpoint on statement CALL METHOD.
    I tried for CL_GUI_ALV_GRID, and it worked. I am on 702 release.

    Can i super call the instance variables and local variables ? I have tried super calls on the instance variables but since none of them are included in any of the constructors it wont work.
