What do I do to fix my iPod location.  I live in Dallas, TX and my location is currently putting me in Kansas City, MO

For examplt, I go into the google maps app and initiate the location search.  Even though I live in Dallas, TX 75211and I am at my home address, the maps app puts my location in at and address on E 57th Terrace  in Kansas City, MO 64133.  I've tried restoring my iPod, reset the wifi, reset the location and still get put in MO.  I even found something about a company called Skyhook and have submitted 3 different MAC addresses in an attempt to repair this problem.  I wonder why Apple seems to make it so difficult to find the correct resolution to this issue.  Can anyone help me?

Apple's database uses the MAC address of the router. The MAC address is unique to the hardware were as an IP address is not.
Not necessairly.
For example, if you are using DSL or ADSL, chances are your privider assigned you with a static IP address to use for your router, so in this case a specific IP address can be used to identify a specific piece of hardware.
With that being said, the actual physical location of a wireless router depends entirely on where someone put it, and the data base location information may or may not be accurate.  This is why my iPhone shows up within the walls of my house and my iPod shows up about 500 feet away....
The point is moot because when trying to locate an iPod via its internet access point location, that location information is based on data derived from human sources.  For example, how much distance is there between 200 Booger Lane and 210 Booger Lane?  Cell triangulation will always be more accurate...
With that all being said, I just had an idea.  What happens when you use Find My Phone to locate your iPod?
Maybe the problem is with Google....

  • What should I do to fix my ipod if it is no longer going into sleep mode, no longer shutting down, and no longer allowing me to take screen shots?

I have tried everything. I have held down the sleep button and home button down for what seems like forever and nothing is working. I don't understand why it is no longer working. Any ideas on what I can do to fix it?

Connect your iPod to your computer and restore the iPod via iTunes.  First restore from backup and if problems persist restore to factory defaults/new iPod.

Place the iOS device in Recovery Mode and then connect to your computer and restore via iTunes. The iPod will be erased.

    For how to restore:
    iTunes: Restoring iOS software
    To restore from backup see:
iOS: Back up and restore your iOS device with iCloud or iTunes
If you restore from iCloud backup the apps will be automatically downloaded. If you restore from iTunes backup the apps and music have to be in the iTunes library since synced media like apps and music are not included in the backup of the iOS device that iTunes makes.
You can redownload most iTunes purchases by:

If problem what happens or does not happen and when in the instructions? When you successfully get the iPod in recovery mode and connect to computer iTunes should say it found an iPod in recovery mode.

  • What would it cost to fix an ipod click wheel from 2004?

I have 2 old ipods from 2004. They are ipod click wheels. I think the harddrives need to be fixed on both. I would love to get them fixed. Is this possible?

Yes.  You can choose to have either Apple or a third party repair center do the job for you.  Obviously Apple's pricing will be a bit higher.  Here are their repair quotes.

For 3rd party repair centers, just do a simple Google search for iPod repair and you should get a plethora or results.

  • What can I do to fix my iPod speakers?

My iPod speakers mysteriously stopped working and it shows that I have headphones in when I don't.

    - Try cleaning out/blowing out the headphone jack. Try inserting/removing the plug a dozen times or so. There is a little switch in the headphone jack that disconnects the speaker when the headphone jack is inserted.

Try the following to rule out a software problem
    - Reset the iPod. Nothing will be lost
Reset iPod touch: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
    - Restore from backup
    - Restore to factory settings/new iPod.
    - Make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store. Seems you have a bad headphone jack.

  • What can I do to fix my iPod?

My iPod was submerged in water so, the screen isn't very bright, now. The worst part is that right after I figured out the brightness was messed up it turned off and the power button is broken. Does anyone know how I can fix this problem quickly and cheaply???

    When the iPod is dry:
    Try:
    - iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
When it says place the iPod in recoverymode
Place the iPod in recovery mode using one of these programs:
    For PC
RecBoot: Easy Way to Put iPhone into Recovery Mode
    or
    http://joshuabailey1997.wordpress.com/2010/09/02/recboot-v1-3/
    If necessary:
    Download QTMLClient.dll & iTunesMobileDevice.dll for RecBoot
    and
    RecBoot tip
RecBoot may have problems on 64X windows, then try:
Tenorshare ReiBoot – Enter & Exit iPhone, iPad, iPod Recovery Mode with a Single Click
    For MAC or PC
    The Firmware Umbrella - TinyUmbrella
    Installs blootware on PC too
    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - Try another cable
    - Try on another computer
    - If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

  • My screen is messed up.  All the colors are wrong.  Blue is yellow, red is teal, and so on.  No clue what happened or how to fix it.  All my apps are this way and the wallpaper picture is totally messed up.

My grandson was playing around with my mouse and changed the display on everything.  Things that are usually blue are now gold, red is now teal, etc.  I can't figure out what he did or how to correct it.  I went to system preferneces but nothing is seeming to work.  Any clue what to do?

  • IDVD ejects dvd disc one minute early, before burning is completed. Why? What can I do to fix this?

iDVD ejects the dvd disc one minute early, before burning is completed. Why? What can I do to fix this? I have checked project via mapping and there are no problems with it. I have previewed the entire project and it runs fine.

    Good morning,
There could be a few reasons why the burn doesn't finish.  iDVD needs a lot of hard disk space to create the DVD -- 10-15 Gigs is starting to get low and under 5 G is virtually impossible.  Reduce the load on your Mac by quitting other applications while you're trying to burn.  Also, you may wish to break down your workflow into two steps (I do this routinely):
    1)  After you're satisfied in iDVD -- use the Save As Disc Image command rather than going directly to burn.  This creates a virtual DVD which you can mount and play on your Mac.
    2)  Second step creates the physical DVD from the disc image.  I use Roxio Toast to copy the disc image, but Apple's Disk Utility also works to burn the disc image.  Use good quality discs -- Verbatim is often recommended; I've been happy with Sony DVD-R as well.

  • What will happen if I return refurbished iPod?

I made a stupid mistake when I recently ordered a refurbished iPod Nano for my girlfriend for Christmas.
I just didn't realize that the refurbished unit was a 1st generation iPod; I thought I was buying her a 2nd generation unit.
So, what will happen if I return the iPod? The box has been opened and she has used it for a couple of days. Will there be a restocking fee or anything of that sort?

Thanks for the reply and link.
Looks like I might be in trouble since I threw the box away.
I wonder if their "All products must be packed in the original, unmarked packaging" applies to refurbished products that just come in a plain brown box?
