What do I need to convert a Microsoft Publisher file to PDF?

I have Microsoft XL Professional and I am doing newsletters for an organization I belong to. I am doing them in Microsoft Publisher, but want to email them to the members using PDF. What Arcrobat product do I need and how do I do it?

Hi Barb,
Acrobat.com, a free online collection of services, does not support the conversion of Microsoft Publisher files to PDF. Here is the list of supported file types:
text (TXT, PS, RTF), Microsoft Office (DOC, XLS, PPT, PRJ), Open Office (ODT, ODP, ODS, ODG, ODF), Star Office (SWX, SXI, SXC, SXD, STW), Word Perfect (WPD), and image files (BMP, GIF, JPEG, TIFF, PNG)
The full version of Adobe Acrobat, the most current being Acrobat 9, supports a much longer list of file types. For more information, see: http://www.adobe.com/products/acrobat/
I'm guessing that you're using some version of the desktop product at Church?
Best,
Michelle

    Hi raythree,
I'm sorry that your PDF conversion is working. Can you please tell me if you're getting a specific error message? Knowing that can help pinpoint the cause of the conversion failure. However, here are a couple of things that you could try:
Clear your browser cache (steps to do this vary by browser).
If you're using a work computer, check with your IT team to confirm if you have firewall/proxy settings that restrict the ability to upload files to the Internet.
Try another web browser.  A list of supported browsers for accessing the ExportPDF service is available here: http://www.adobe.com/acom/systemreqs/.
Also, note that there is a 100MB file size limit, so if your publisher file is larger than that, it won't upload to ExportPDF.
I hope this helps. But let us know if you need further assistance.
    Best,
    Sara

  • How can I convert a Microsoft Publisher doc to PDF when the file size is LARGE?

I have a Microsoft Publisher document that I need converted to PDF. Typically I have no issues converting from Publisher to PDF (and usually can just do it through the "save as" feature in Publisher.) However, this particular file is laden with graphics and therefore very large. I was able to convert it once, but it made some of the graphics as blank boxes. When I try again to convert, it gives me an error message.
Is there a way to conver a LARGE Publisher file to PDF without losing any of the images contained within the document? Please help!

Try emptying the Temp folder. Are you using PDF Maker (not sure that is available for Publisher) or the MS plugin? If PDF Maker, try turning off the tags and reducing the amount of bookmarks needed to a minimum. As an alternative, simply print to the Adobe PDF printer -- will typically give a smaller file and not run into these creation problems for large document, but you will not get bookmarks or such in the conversion process.

  • Distortion of excel charts when converting microsoft publisher file to pdf

I am using the print "Adobe PDF" function in publisher to convert a publisher file to pdf.  Some exel pie charts that were pasted into the publisher file become distorted at the edges in the pdf file.  I have tried playing with various settings and using the "print quality" settings but nothing has helped.  See the attached files for an example of the excel chart, publisher file, and results I am getting when converting to pdf.
    Thanks all.

I'm sorry I didn't make it clear.  What I'm trying to say is that the graphic looks just fine in publisher.  But when it is converted to a pdf, the graphic has distorted edges, if you look at the publisher and pdf files I attached I think you might see what I'm talking about.
Please let me know if it's still not clear.

  • What software do i need to convert AVCHD mts/mts2 files to import to iMovie

What software do i need to convert AVCHD mts/mts2 files to import to iMovie

As Kirk says, if you have your camera, you can attach it directly.
Further, if you preserved the entire file structure of your camera (not just the .mts files, but also the folders on the camera), then you can import from that via FILE/IMPORT FROM CAMERA ARCHIVE.
When you import from a camera, it is recommended that you keep a camera archive so you always have the originals available.
If you have the .mts files out of context, you will need a third party app to convert. Two that I know of are ClipWrap and Voltaic HD. You should convert the files to Apple Intermediate Codec. And then use FILE/IMPORT/MOVIE.

    Hello Kathie,
Please let me know what exactly are you trying to do using Adobe online service.
You might try accessing the same service for some other PDFs and check.
Have you signed up correctly at "https://cloud.acrobat.com/" using your Adobe ID credentials.
If the same message pops up, then please visit Contact Customer Care as they could let you know if there is any problem with your account.
    Hope to get your response.

macbook pro not displaying music library: What do I need to do to show music files in Library? They are not showing up.

If you click View, Show Sidebar you will see the other libraries under Shared in the left hand column. Click on the Library you want and you can expand it to select Music, Movies etc. Select whatever items you want and click import if you want to move them to your Library.
You will have to have all computers authorised with the relevant Apple ID's
    Store  >  Authorise this computer...
This is separate from the Home Sharing username and password and is to allow playing of DRM Movies, TV shows etc from the other computer.
If both Computers use the same apple id this step is not required.

  • Microsoft Publisher files

Can you import Microsoft Publisher Files into Pages to edit?

Welcome to the world of Macs -- as a convert about 5 years ago myself, you are coming across some of the things that make Macs completely different from PC's -- and the inability to communicate well between PC and Mac users is one of the main differences.
FIrst -- let me recommend a book to you that was invaluable to me in my own switch many years ago -- it's called The Missing Manual: Switching to the Mac....it's constantly being updated, so I am not sure what version it is in right now -- but it will get you really familiar with the differences between the two systems really fast, and has some great information written in PC terms for new Mac users...
Second -- unlike one of the previous posters, I have found nothing as good for day to day desktop publishing as MS Publisher -- in my opinion, it is the one single application the MS has that does exactly what casual DP users need. The most recent update for MS Office for Mac does include Publisher as part of it's Word program -- it incorporates most of the features of publisher in the Desktop Publishing view of Word -- it does not work with PUB files, everything is in DOC format, so it is clumsy and doesn't do everything that Publisher does, but it is the closest thing on a mac to the familiar publisher program you know. You might want to download the 30-day MS Office for Mac trial version, and see what you think. Personally, I didn't use it much, and found that Pages just looks and works better.
Next -- Pages doesn't have all the templates you might personally need out of the box. Because Apple software is generally open source code (not really, but lets use that terminology for simplicity's sake) a lot of third party software developers create things for the software -- Google "iWork templates" or "Pages templates" or "Numbers templates" or "Keynote templates" and you will find all sorts of companies that provide templates that you might prefer for your documents.
Then -- you need to be aware that Apple designs all of their programs to work around their own applications and they are more splintered than Windows software -- WHere MS designs programs like Outlook that seamlessly interact with Word, that isn't the case with a Mac....also, the software is really geared toward sharing with other Mac users, and doesn't always play well with Windows users...FOr example, you an use iCal to publish your calendars and let others access them and it works awesome in theory -- that theory being that the entire world runs like Cupertino, and that only Macs are used by all of your friends and family. We all know that isn't true.
The easiest way for you to do some of that on a mac is to use the Stationary in your eMail to send e-mails that show up, rather than go as attachments -- but again, you will most likely have to find google-able templates for Mail Stationary, since a lot of the things you want to do aren't going to be there out of the box (again, Apple does this on purpose -- why would they accommodate making it easier for Windows users, when those same Windows users can envy what a mac can do, and possibly ultimately switch themselves)...It's been like this for a decade, and I can't see it changing anytime soon.
If you absolutely must have 100% compatibility with Word users, your going to find MS Office for Mac to be a better option -- if that is NOT 100% compatible with Windows users, but it's the closest you are going to get, so a trial might be in your best interest...
As to standalone Desktop Publishing programs for the Mac -- you have the high-end Adobe InDesign, which many serious DP people use -- it's elegant, and creates beautiful things, but it is too expensive, and it has a very steep learning curve -- it does nothing out of the box, and doesn't even have built-in templates.
At the middle of the pack is Pages; and the document layout version of Word in MS Office for Mac 08
At the affordable standalone end is The PrintShop 2 -- it is a huge program that will handle just about any publishing project you throw at it -- it is also very easy to use. It's the closest standalone program to MS Publisher that exists for Mac. (There are others that do this, but they are in no way as comprehensive and easy to use as PS)...but here is the caveat -- it uses its own proprietary file and extension system, so you can't exchange published items with Windows users (unless you convert to a PDF, and then you might as well have just used Pages or Office). It does have some very basic internet publishing capabilities, but it is almost 98 percent geared toward printed materials - cards, labels, brochures, newsletters, printed calendars, greeting cards, etc.
As to making sure your newsletter is embedded opened rather than as a file, I will let others share their experiences -- I haven't found anything that works 100% of the time -- you could convert it to HTML code and embed that, but I wouldn't even know where to start with that.
(By the way, sticking with Pages, it doesn't have a built-in calendar -- but search this same forum and you will find a pretty nifty template for monthly calendars)

  • Converting a word 2000 file into pdf using Adobe Acrobat Standard X

I reinstalled my Adobe Acrobat Standard X today, and tried to convert a *.doc word file into pdf, but the application could not open the word file and got stalled. I remembered that last time I installed the application the same probelm cropped up and I had to install a Microsoft patch that was required to do this, What is the patch file and how do I get it?

I answer my question myself. I have solved it myself. The answer can be found by searching adobe website. But I give it here if it can be useful to others. Go to control panel. Go to Add or remove programs. Click on Modify in the listed Adobe program. Click Next in the box that appears. Select Modify. Click on + sign against pdF maker to expand. Click on X sign against 'this feature is not available' which shifts on to the little box on the left of Microsoft Office. Click on Apply. Quit. Once the Microsoft Office becomes disabled in Adobe, Word will open in all places.
