What does Firewall do?

Hello everyone!
I have been receiving BBM boradcasts from friends asking to Enable Firewall saying that it will prevent the network provider from accessing our phone and viewing our photos.
Could someone pls explain the function of the firewall and if having it disabled allows such access?

A BlackBerry device enabled on a corporate BES account, provided by your employer, is subject to monitoring and logging of all the activity that takes place on the device information flowing in/out of the device.
It's quite legal, it's your employer's network -- they on it and can do what they wish with their device and network.
If you are not on a BES account, you have nothing to worry about. Your network provider can't sneak in the backdoor or your BlackBerry and look at your pictures.

That's the default or OFF option. The firewall is always off by default. If you turn on the firewall and want to give people access to the computer or use iChat, for example, then you must open the specific ports required. With Leopard this is done in the firewall configuration section of the Security preferences. Select Mac Help from the Finder's Help menu and search for "firewall" without quotes. You will get a list of relevant articles to help you.

This was not a Firefox update, but a piece of malicious software you have inadvertently downloaded from a site called http://ffftp.co.cc/ which is impersonating Firefox. I discovered this as soon as my Zonealarm requested permission for "Golds" to access the internet. Golds??!! However I couldn't find a file with this name installed on my computer.
You should delete the file you downloaded and certainly do not allow internet access to any suspicious program. If you have already given permission, scan your PC immediately for any virus, malware, etc. Best of luck.

I received this message after connecting my ipad to itunes. There is a display of a cord connecting to itunes which is initially why I was alerted to connect my ipad to my itunes account on my laptop.

from what i understand it removes any trace of registration, is that correct?

Quit Creative Cloud desktop application.
End all Adobe related process from Task Manager like Creative Cloud, CoreSync, Armsvc, AAMUpdater...etc
1) Press Windows button (located between Ctrl and Alt buttons) along with R button together at a time , you will get a run command window.

Stop the Antivirus program
Connect your iPod to the PC, using a high speed USB 2.0 port at the back of your PC.
Disconnect all other USB devices, except the mouse and keyboard.
Stop all other programs except iTunes.

What does error 0x80092013 mean?

What does error 0x80092013 mean? my itunes will not let me connect to the store from my PC. The diagnostics says the I can not establish a secure connection to the store, and of course when you click on the help button is say that you cannot establish a secure connection to the store. Internet connection is good and the Firewall was good the last time I used the store on my PC.

Error 3004
No internet connection during the firmware restore.
iTunes can't connect to gs.apple.com. Maybe Port 80 and Port 443 is blocked. Open it on your router.
please check you internet connection or of you are behind firewall kindly check if the port are blocked . this might be a issue that your using internet via an wifi router where some router do not support this communications you have to directly connect your PC with ethernet cable and try again.

I had the same error it was due to a program called Little Snitch, it's somewhat like a firewall. I changed the settings in Little Snitch to allow network connections in iTunes and now I can enable Home Sharing. Maybe you should try changing some firewall settings.
