What does IMAQ Start do?

Hi all
What does IMAQ Start do? On my camera eval station, it fails under certain circumstances, and I'm trying to isolate the cause.
Background: This is an evaluation system provided to me by CMOSIS. When I use it as they delivered it, it works great. But of course, I need it to perform very differently from CMOSIS' design, and that's where the trouble starts.
System is a Lenovo ThinkCentre running Windows 7 Pro SP 1 64-bit.
NI-1433 PCIe framegrabber, both Camera Link cables running to the eval board.
LabVIEW version 2010 32-bit,
NI-MAX version 5.5.0f0,
NI-IMAQ version 4.7.3,
Camera File Generator 3.0.1
The eval system was originally designed as a 4-tap, CL Medium. To demonstrate a concept we're developing, I want to run 8-tap CL Full (really, I want 10-bit 8 tap, but that's another discussion). I used CFG to edit the original icd file and saved it as a new file. When I use NI-Max to switch to this new camera file, the program fails when IMAQ Start is called, error -1074397153 is returned; "NI-IMAQ: Cannot detect recognizable video source".  I'll attach both icd files.
I can think of two possible culprits:
1) IMAQ Start is reading registers on the camera and finding something imcompatible with the settings in icd file
2) Items within the bad icd file contradict each other
Since this is a Sunday, I don't expect to get an answer very quickly, so I'll keep looking for my own solution for a while. If I solve this myself (overly positive attitude), I'll post the solution.
Thanks!

Thanks for the reply, Bruce.
The thing is, the camera isn't sending data yet, and it isn't expected to. After IMAQ Start, my app sends a series of bytes over the CL SerialTC link - those bytes tell the FPGA on the camera to start a snap.
The lower level VI that throws the error is imgSessionAcquire, basically the last step in IMAQ Start.  imgSession Acquire simply writes to a Library Function Node (I'm guessing to a DLL); it writes the session ID, a single Boolean bit called 'Async?' (set to True), and an integer zero ('callback').
The only thing I'm changing is the icd file.  Sometimes I forget to set the FPGA to send the right data format, but since we don't get around to sending data (I set a break point at the beginning of IMAQ Start so I could step to where the error occurs), I'm don't see why that would matter - it might be another problem I still have to solve, after I fix this one.
Still, you've given me ideas. I'm going to try putting scope probes on some test points and see if something behaves differently between the two scenarios.
Cheers!

What does mind:' Start up diskMac OS X Install ESD'? when before was Macintosh HD

Well, I was all ready to use SuperDuper to copy all files back to Macintosh HD but then I thought I should check once more because I *think* I remember reading somewhere that not all the system files are copied when doing a SuperDuper backup.  As I had already erased and reformatted Macintosh HD there are no system files on it at all.
Perhaps I'm now doing this the wrong way but I read that I should 'Restore' using Disk Utility.  Of course, you can't restore from the boot (i.e. SuperDuper) drive so you have to boot to the Recovery HD.  So, I restarted the computer holding down the command + R keys and, instead of seeing the OS X Recovery Utility menu that I expected to find,  I finally (after 15 minutes) was delivered to Internet Recovery which offered to either restore from a Time Machine backup or I could install a brand new version of LION (which is what the iMac shipped with in mid-2011, just before Mountain Lion was released :-(  I'm assuming that when I erased Macintosh HD the Recovery HD was erased too, otherwise I wouldn't have been taken to Internet Recovery?
As I live in the countryside in Italy and rely on wireless internet access which isn't exactly speedy, I opted to restore from yesterday's Time Machine backup.  At the moment it's restored 14.7% of the Time Machine backup and says it will take another hour and six minutes to complete.
I have my fingers crossed that I will have Macintosh HD in the same state as it was 24 hours ago.  There was no work done on the iMac yesterday so it will be up to date.
In the meantime, I agree that the internal drive sounds like its days are numbered.  The iMac has had very little use over the past 3 ½ years but I guess that the life expectancy of hard drives is getting shorter all the time ....
    Cheers

  • What does 'Latest start reached' in workflow

    hi guys,
I am still new in WF and am picking up the skill.
In our current PR WF design, once a button in un-tick in PR, it will trigger notification to SBWP and outlook.
The email sent to outlook is always not immediate , is this because of Latest start reached in email step? what does it mean? and how to make it immediate?
If in between the time, the button is untick and the approver is already approved, the email step will be excluded and WF will proceed with the next step , how do i prevent this from happening?

Second question you need to create a method that runs periodically(every 10 minutes) that will check whether the checkbox is checked. If yes put a condition step that checks if flag is set. If yes no mail step. Checkbox you are not meaning Status management stuff. If it is then makes use of wait for Event step that will take care of your requirement.

  • What does "your start up disc is full" mean?

Getting the message, "your start up disc is full."  Can you help me know what to do?

Make sure you select your main hard disk & 'Get info' on it (in the file menu).
Look at the Available: xxGB figure, in the 'General' section.
If that is less than 10GB you really need to look at removing some more files, otherwise the message will keep appearing. The worst thing that can happen is that you loose the ability to save any open work.
Tools like www.whatsizemac.com and www.derlien.com can show where big files reside, but take care before you delete anything.

When I tried to sync my iphone 4 and ipad in iturnes, an error message popped up saying this device cannot be used because Apple Mobile Device service is not started!  What does that mean and how do I start service?  I've had these devices for over a year and update and sync regularly and have never seen this message before!

I got that message yesterday. I'm new at this so don't know if this is the correct solution but it worked for me. I reset my iPod by holding the 2 buttons down until the apple appears AND I restarted my computer. After that everything worked.

  • What can I do when  in Photoshop Elements (version 11) the organizer does not start up??

    !@@

Yes, thanks a lot. I understand now.
I now am able to open the old catalog again!! I tried now several times with the new shortcut.
Thank you very much indeed for ALL YOUR EFFORT and patients with me.
You suggest now I should click on the repair button. When I do so, the catalog will be overwritten, or I can choose not to overwrite and than the catalog will be twice as big. So I decided not to click on the repair button. When I see afterwards that some functions do not work anymore, I allways can use the repair button. As far as I can see now nothing is lost.. )
As far as I understood it is only possible to repair with a backup. Happily I made that allways, but I am afraid to use it, for the reason above.
When I have more time to spare, I will look for all the foto's from the apps of my cellphone and delete them.
Now I can finish my fotowork, what I had started before, and make Photoshop Elements again the main fotoprogram on my desktop.
    Thank you again! Trees

    Hello DEstadt,
Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.
For more information on this, take a look at:
iTunes 11.1.4 for Windows: Unable to install or open
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS5376
    Check for .dll files
Go to C:\Program Files (x86)\iTunes and C:\Program Files\iTunes and look for .dll files.
If you find QTMovie.DLL, or any other .dll files, move them to the desktop.
    Reboot your computer.
Note: Depending on your operating system, you may only have one of the listed paths.
    Uninstall and reinstall iTunes
Uninstall iTunes and all of its related components.
Reboot your computer. If you can't uninstall a piece of Apple software, try using the Microsoft Program Install and Uninstall Utility.
    Re-download and reinstall iTunes 11.1.4.
    Best of luck,
    Mario
