What everybody assumes you know

Alright, I don't understand formulas at all. Why? it should be a fairly straightforward process, all logic right? I think I now know why it is so hard. I keep finding all these formulas that everybody spits out as if they are simple but have yet to find anybody (even after a web search) explain what each of the little symbols mean. For example: =VLOOKUP(A2,Tire Inventory:: $A$1:$E$2,2) this nifty little formula leaves my head spinning. Why? because I don't having a flipping idea where I am supposed to put the commas, ::, $, and whatever other crazy symbol there might be. What do they mean? In laymens terms. What does this formula say for real? Is it something like this? (=) this is a formula, (vlookup) you will look in the information in the following cell (A2) and try to find it in the table named (Tire Inventory) (::) ??? and here I really get lost.... help help help help help help help help.... yes I am a record player skipping

The iWork Formulas and Functions User Guide gives a pretty good explanation of VLOOKUP (and the other 250+ functions supported by Numbers '09).
Here's what it has to say about VLOOKUP:
In your example:
=VLOOKUP(A2,Tire Inventory:: $A$1:$E$2,2)
search-for: the value in cell A2 (of the table containing the formula)
columns-range: cells A1 to E2 of the table named "Tire Inventory" VLOOKUP searches in the leftmost column of this range (column A).
return-column: (2) tells VLOOKUP to return the value from the second column of the lookup table (in this case, column B) in the same row as the search-for value was found.
close/exact-match: This argument was omitted, so VLOOKUP accepts a 'close match' if there's no exact match.
Punctuation:
() encloses the list of arguments for a function.
, separates each argument from the next in the list
: joins the first and last cell (or column or row) of a range of cells (or columns or rows)
:: used in addresses of cells that are on different tables from the one containing the formula. A full cell address has the syntax:
Sheet name::Table name::A1
$ makes the part of a cell address that it precedes absolute (as opposed to relative). If a formula containing a reference to $A$1 is copied, then pasted into a different location, the reference will still be to cell $A$1. If the same formula had a reference to A1 (same cell, but a relative rather than absolute reference) is copied, then pasted into a cell three rows below and two columns to the right of its original location, that reference will now be to C4, the cell that is in the same position on the table relative to the cell containing the formula.
All of these can be easily located in the guide with a search for the name of the symbol, or in most cases, the symbol itself. If you haven't yet downloaded it, go to the Help menu in Numbers and choose iWork Formulas and Functions User Guide, then Numbers '09 User Guide. Read at least the first couple of chapters of the Numbers guide, plus chapters on any topics for which you have questions. Use the F&F guide as a reference when you're writing formulas.

What do you do when you know your apple ID and password, but forget your security question answers? It won't let me purchase any music without answering them.

If you have a rescue email address set up on your account then you can try going to https://appleid.apple.com/ and click 'Manage your Apple ID' on the right-hand side of that page and log into your account. Then click on 'Password and Security' on the left-hand side of that page and on the right-hand side you might see an option to send security question reset info to your rescue email address.
If you don't have a rescue email address set up then go to Express Lane and select 'iTunes' from the list of 'products' in the middle of the screen.
Then select 'iTunes Store', and on the next screen select 'Account Management'
Next choose 'iTunes Store Account Questions' and fill in that you'd like your security questions/answers reset.
You should get an email reply within about 24 hours (and check your Spam folder as well as your Inbox)

Do you know the T-Code for clearing the A/P check?
For example, we issue a check to vendor for payment. When the check was cash, the bank will send us the statement for the cleared checks. Currently, they sent us the diskettes or files to download the cleared checks. We then upload into SAP. The T-Code are ZBACK & ZEBCK.
Usually, we had no problem. Cleared checks were uploaded in SAP & we were done. However, there was one check that could not upload in SAP because the check number was wrong (there was one digit missing from the check number sequence). Is there a T-Code that we can bring up the check number & clear them?

You can use the tcode FEBA to post process the bank statement and manually pick up the open item and clear it.

Credit card and debit card and checking and savings information is encrypted so it is possible to be hacked, but the odds are greater to get hit by the Love Boat then to have a wide scale hack.
Oh yes they do happen, Bank of America, Chase, Citibank, Target and quite a few others. But in all the years I have paid my invoice with saved card information I never been hacked.
You use good passwords and the risk is minimal.

I have a two and half year mac book pro... I've had some issues with the screen looking scrambled when I quit certain applications, but now it's turned into something worse. I'll be working on my computer and the thing will freeze. When I force restart, the first screen, the apple logo, will be a blue tint and won't boot up normally. Then I try safe mood and it will then boot just fine. But there are blue stripes on my screen. The screen alternates from a blue tint to normal and if the computer freezes again the screen will become completely blue with black stripes. I haven't tried reinstalling my software because I don't have the startup discs that came with my computer. If I was sure that would fix it I would purchase them, but if it's a hardware issue I'm afraid that I'm screwed. I've been able to successfully get the blue off my screen by putting it to sleep and then waking it up, but that's not working well anymore either.
Does anyone else have experience with this? Is it the firmware or what? I have a MacBook Pro from early 2011 and I'm running Mac OS X 10.6.8.

I just experienced this exact same issue with my early 2011 15" macbook pro. Since like a month after purchasing it I had issues with the screen randomly going dark on me. I sent it in for repair inder waranty they replaced the gpu and logic board but I continued to have the same issues with the screen randomly going black sometimes I would need to reboot it in order to get the screen to go back on but it happened so infrequently and I used the computer for school so disnt find the time to resend it in to apple. Just last night the screen started to display the blue screen with black verticle lines on it. I called apple and explained to them the issues that had been ongoing since I purchased the laptop but they said because I was now outside of warantee that any repairs at thia point wouldn't be covered. Fml so glad I spent 2200 on this future proof macbook pro what a joke my sister purchased a toshiba laptop for 300 4 years ago and it still running like a champ. I loved my macbook but at the price I paid I expect it to last longer than 2 years before leaving me high and dry. *** apple??

Id like an app that shows what time your iphone was locked, so you know if anyone has looked at your phone while you've left it, say on a desk at work?

If your location on the map is off press the MENU button (lower left corner of your phone). Then when the next screen appears Touch "my location" and it will move the your blue colored location ICON to your current location.
Also, you can touch the tower ICON to see the tower's SSID, SID, and Received signal strength. WIKI has good definitions for these acronyms. If you go to CELLS (top of screen) you can also see the RSSI and the overview shows the signal strength in %.

This is cause by the way the App Store checks to see if an application is installed on your system.
Basically when an app is installed it is in the Applications folder and this is where the MAS looks for them. So it looks at your purchase history for the apps you bought and looks in the Applications folder to see if they are installed. If an app is in your purchase history but not in the Applications folder the MAS says you need to install it.
For normal apps this works fine but the OS doesn;t install into the Applications folder. So the MAS sees you have Mountain Lion in your purchase history but it's not in the Applications folder and so it says you need to download it.
Hopefully one of these days Apple wil fix this.

Hello, I have a question regarding the sharing on iMovie. I have just recently purchased an Elgato Gaming Capture HD and I then finished my recording with that and put it into imovie. I worked long and hard on the project and when I go click the share feature on iMovie all the noral options pop up and when I actually click where I want to share it to nothing at all happens. How do you know what view is available to a form?

A customer requirement that we set the a firstlogin attribute on the on one of the resources the first time a user logs into the IDM end user interface, changes their password, and provides answers for their authentication questions. The way I know that a person has done this, it that they are displayed the "End User Menu"
The problem is the accounts portion of the User view is not accessible from the End User Menu. I put the same code in the End User Form and it works.
Is there a way for me to access resource attributes from this form?
Is this the incorrect approach to solving this problem?

Thanks, that was my problem originally. When using a fieldref I had to set the base context to variables.user i.e.
baseContext=':variables.user'
And in workflow I had to preface variable names with the name of the object I checked the view out into.
What I really wanted to know how to have multiple views open in a form if possible. I'd like to be able to manipulate user and role objects in the same form when editing users in a specific org.
