What explains this behavior?

Apologies if I am missing something obvious (this code is from a basic example that I am trying to understand). The following code ought to display values 6 to 10:

     </c:forEach>However, the output on screen is as follows:

'header' is a reserved variable name inside JSP which refers to the HTTP headers. You should not be using reserved variable names inside JSP. Changing it to 'head' or so should work.

    collected all the statistics now

    can any one please explain this behavior.
    1. oracle tells us that when the full table scans are performed db file scattered event appears but here clearly db file parallel read was occuring.
    2. as the table was going through the full table scan as oracle 11gr2 default behavior will not cache the blocks that are part of the table going through the full table scan is this the reason why the db file parallel read wait event was occuring.
    3. clearly in the explain plan it used a view called VW_DAG_0 which is inexistant on the database is this a bug or this is the behavior of oracle optimizer to create a view.
    4. before collecting any statistics on the table when the same sql statement to count is executed a lot of db file parallel read waits appeared, can any one please explain this behavior.
    5. while doing the full table scans if the oracle shows the waits as db file parallel read (occurs when the recovery or parallel processes are used), but is this behavior changed.
    finally,
    6. can any one please explain the difference between the db file parallel read and db file scattered read.

    Using NetBeans 6.5 on Windows, Glassfish v2.1
    I have a JSF application with a page that has a tab set.
    On one of the tabs I have a panel with company information.
    One of the components on the page is an InputText field with the value bound to a session bean variable.
    The tab also has an Add button.
    Here is what the JSP looks like for the input text and button components

         This is all plain vanilla stuff and I would expect that when the Add button is pushed, the session bean property would be filled with
    the value entered in the input text field.
    In the java code for the page, I have a method to process the Add button push.
    Originally, it just called a method in the session bean to check that a value was entered in the input text field by checking the bound
    session bean property.
    For some reason, that was not getting filled and I was getting either a null or empty string rather than the value in the text field.
    I added some checking in the method that processes the Add button push so I could check the values in the debugger.
    Here is a sample of that code:

            String s = sb1.getCompanyName();
            s = (String)this.companyNameTF.getValue();
            s = (String)this.companyNameTF.getSubmittedValue();I check this in the debugger and NONE of the variants that I have listed have the value that was entered into the text field.
    The submittedValue is null and the others are empty strings (that is what they were initalized to).
    This is all pertty straight forward stuff and I am at a loss to explain what is happening.
    Can anyone expain this behavior, and, most important, how can I force the values to be present when the Add button is pushed.
    I have never experienced this problem before, and have no clue what is causing it.

    Basically, the component bindings are just being used in plain vanilla get/set modes.
    I set them to "" when I do a clear for the fields and they are set to a value via the text field.
    No other action other than to read the values via get to insert them into the database.
    And, I always use the get/set methods rather than just setting the value directly.
    This is what is so strange about this behavior - I have created dozens of database add/update/delete pages using this same model and have not had a problem with them - even in a tab context.
    Not a clue why this one is different.
    I did notice that I had an error on the page (in IE7, you get a small triangle warning sign when something is not right).
    I figured that might be the problem - maybe buggering up the rendering process.
    I tracked that down and do not get that anymore (it had to do with the PDF display I was trying to get working a while back), but that did not resolve the problem.
    I don't think there are any tab conflicts - none of the components are shared between tabs, but I will see what happens when I move a couple of the components out of the tab context.
    I noticed that it seems to skip a cycle. Here is what I can do.
    1) Fill in text fields and add a record - works fine the first time.
    2) Clear the text fields
    3) Enter new data in the text fields and push Add
    4) I get an error saying fields are blank from my data check process.
    5) Enter new data and push Add - the record is added with the new data.
    My work around is to not enter data in step 3 and just accept the error message in step 4, then go ahead and enter the real data in step 5.
    Very ugly, but it works every time.

    Hi,
    I've noticed that when you access a page using the Session 0 and that page contains an "htp.init" in a before header process, for some reason the session expires and creates a new one.
    I made an example on apex.oracle.com, but first let me explain what've done exactly.
    There's two pages. On page 1, I have an item named :P1_COLOR that is assigned the value of an application item :P_RED. This application item is affected in an application process before header that runs only on page 1 (the value assigned is "This is red"). I also have an item that displays the session id using this code:
    return :APP_SESSION;
    Then, I have a link called "page 2" in the HTML region :

    Also, more importantly, on page 1 I have a process before header that sets a cookie:

    Yes, you might need to do something like that. The zero SID cookie is set only once: the first time the application is visited with a zero for session ID. So for email links where you use zero in the link, you could make the link target page a dummy public page (999) with BRANCH_TO_PAGE_ACCEPT in the request and the actual page you want the user to go to in the portion of the request after the pipe symbol, e.g., for page 10, the url would look like:
    http://host:port:/pls/DAD/f?p=60310:999:0:BRANCH_TO_PAGE_ACCEPT|10
    An after-submit process on page 999 would use :REQUEST as the page to redirect to:
    owa_util.redirect_url('f?p=' || :APP_ID || ':' || :REQUEST || ':' || '0');
    apex_application.g_unrecoverable_error := true;
    If this works the way we're thinking, the zero sid cookie will be sent when page 999 is requested, then page 999's after-submit process would take the user to the desiired page on which your process could set the tracking cookie.

    Hey guys,
    I have been experimenting with notifiers before I used them in a new project. (It's funny that I already had the same introduction in my mind as this post while searching for more info)
    So I was editing the LabVIEW 2013 example to try to understand its behavior but then I came across this weird behavior that I cannot understand.
    If you run the attached VI, everything seems to work as expected and you can see Notification Loop updating with values from
    Notifier Loop 1 and Notifier Loop 2. However, when you press the "switch" button and change the wait time of the Notification Loop, things start acting weird.
    1.First the value of Notifier Loop 2 never updates any more. I thought this had to with aliasing but changing the values of Notifier 2 Loop delay doesn't change anything unless its value is less than Notifier 1 Loop Delay.
    2.More importantly, now the values from Notifier Loop 2 is appearing in Notifier Loop 1.
     I inserted an increment function in Notifier 2 Loop so that the sine graph would have an offset be easier to differentiate.
    Now Notifier 1 is a sine wave that has a bit of offset instead of Notifier 2.
    Whats going on?

    You're going to have to explain what "this" is.
    I am talking about how Notification 1 graph is representing both Notifications. Two sets of notifiers should be coming out separately but it doesnt.
    You can check the array size and see that the array size of the notifications changes from 2 to 1 when Notification Loop runs faster.  I have attached another modified VI to explain this.

  • Trying to explain this strange traffic

    My 6500 with my IDSM2 is connected to my Internet router so all traffic to and from the Internet passes through to the hosts at the access layer (obviously). I constantly see ICMP Unreachable traffic crossing the IDSM2 from various foreign countries to various internal subnets. I have captured this traffic in a packet capture but it doesn't tell me anything usseful. Sometimes it is just one or two packets, sometimes its a lot more. Can anyone explain why I am seeing this traffic and what I should do about it?

    By default, each interface denies Internet Control Message Protocol (ICMP). Use the icmp command to allow this traffic to the interface. This behavior differs from that of the PIX.
    Note: When ICMP to the interface is denied by the icmp command, you still see the correct MAC address in the Address Resolution Protocol (ARP) table. If you do not see the MAC address Configure the interfaces within the FWSM configuration (with the nameif command) or on the Multilayer Switch Feature Card (MSFC) [ with the interface vlan command] before they are configured on the switch (on the Supervisor Module in CatOS) may make the interfaces appear as if they are not responding at all, with no ARP entry or Internet Control Message Protocol (ICMP) response.
    If you configured an interface on the FWSM or MSFC that belongs to the firewall VLANs before you configured the switch, remove the FWSM or MSFC entry, reload the module, then re-add the entry.

  • Conditional render attribute -- how to achieve this behavior?

    the easiest way to explain the behavior i want is the following:
    sometimes, i want:
    <h:commandButton id="myButton" action="#{myBean.doSomething}">
    <f:ajax render="displayArea"/>
    </h:commandButton>
    and other times i want (render nothing):
    <h:commandButton id="myButton" action="#{myBean.doSomething}">
    <f:ajax render=""/>
    </h:commandButton>
    so basically, i have an area on my page that i want to render intelligently based on clicking a button. when clicking the button, if doSomething() is successful i want to re-render the "displayArea" div, however, if the result of doSomething() is unsuccessful, i do not want anything to happen to the "displayArea" div (that is, i want it to be left completely alone and untouched -- still retaining the contents from the previous successful render).
    essentially, i want to re-render an area only when it suits me. i do not even want to re-render that area with the same contents as the last successful action because that area is scrollable and doing so would lose the user's scrolling position by re-rendering it, even if only re-rendering the same contents.
    is there any way to achieve this specific type of "conditional render attribute" behavior?

    but unfortunately, i have tried your suggestion and it doesn't fit the behavior i want...
    if i do:
    <h:panelGroup rendered="#{myBean.shouldIRender}"> </h:panelGroup>
    when the shouldIRender is evaluated to false, the entire area disappears from the page literally (as expected), since by definition we are telling it not to render at all. so whatever html content i had in that area is gone from previous successful renders.
    but what i want is to persist whatever html content that was rendered previously. i want the area to literally be "untouched/untampered" by JSF at all -- as if the render attribute didn't have any value at all (nothing to render).
    i hope this clears it up more as to what i am looking for, it is tricky...

  • Daemon Threads: Can you explain this behaviour

    Hey All,
    Please refer to code segment given below. As per the defination of Daemon threads it should terminate when all other user threads die. In this case it should terminate when main thread ends as thread2 has not been initiated yet.
    The result is not consistent. We get the expected output sometimes, whereas sometimes program goes in to an infinite loop and other times excutes a few lines of thread2 and then quits.
    Can someone explain this?

    It's not clear what behavior you expect, or what behavior you're observing, but here's what I would expect to happen:
    thread1.start() is called.
    After that, either of two things could happen:
    1) the main thread could go into your very short spinlock counting up to 1000000
    OR
    2) thread1 starts running
    You can't predict or control which one of those happens, and it may be that on successive runs of your program, one happens sometimes and the other one happens other times.
    At some point, you'll get to where the main thread dies. If the only other thread that has been started is thread1, then, since it's a deamon, the program will die.
    However, it may be that sometimes that happens, and other times, thread1 gets enough CPU time to call thread2.start(). You may not see any output from thread2 or see the ""Thread 1 daemon status" output that comes right after t2.start() before main ends, but if t2 has been started, then you've got another non-deamon.
    Bottom line: Whether or not there's an additional non-deamon besides main depends on how the scheduler happens to schedule your threads, and you should not expect that to be consistent or predictable.

    What does this message mean? : "The file name "DSC_0088.jpg" is offline or missing."   I am in the process of importing photos from iPhoto (don't really know what I'm doing....) and when I look at one of the imported photos that message pops up.  I know what "DSC_0088.jpg" is.  I don't know what it means that the file is "missing".

    Thank you so much for your reply.  I have a couple of bigger issues that I am dealing with: too many photos on my laptop: 40,000! (Of course I have to throw away many of them, but that is time consuming). I have a MacBook Pro and have primarily used IPhoto. I have recently purchased 2 external drives and have transferred my photos to those, but I need a basic education about how photos are stored, copied, etc.  I have recently been told that iPhoto only shows and deals with jpegs, not RAW.  About 1/3 of my photos are RAW, so I purchased Lightroom, so I could do more with those RAW photos.  I have been told by my local Mac store that I need to delete most of my photos from iPhoto, because it's causing problems.  I am reluctant to do so until I am sure that all of the keywords, descriptions and editing I have done to these photos is not lost when deleted from iPhoto. I just watched a tutorial about importing to Lightroom and got out of it that I needed to copy photos from iPhoto to a file on my desktop and then copy to Lightroom.  I did that, it seemed to work.  Then (because of my storage/memory issues) I deleted the photos (just a few as an experiment) from that desktop file.  I'm guessing that is why Lightroom doesn't recognize the the photos.  It seems that (learned from another tutorial) that one uses "Add" , Lightroom is only connecting to the source of the photo, not  actually copying it to the program.  Sounds like I need to use the "Move" feature instead.  My ultimate goal is to store the photos on the 2 external drives and eliminate most of them from my lapop.  So my basic questions have to do with what data (metadata??) is copied from iPhoto to an external drive (RAW???) and what isn't copied. Basic understanding issues,obviously….  I hope this isn't too much to ask.  If you can recommend a book or resource that can explain those basic issues to me I'd appreciate it.  I just got back from a trip and I can't download my new photos until I manage the rest!

    What video's are you trying to watch? Not many videos are in HTML5, the large majority of Internet Video's are Flash. [https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/installing-flash Installing Flash] can help you ensure you have the latest version of Flash.

    attempted to use I tunes, every selected a song from the library resulted in a
    message stating that the file couldn't be located. After following some of the procedures
    explained in this community I was able to reconnect the library back to where
    the associated music files are presently stored. However, there are still 2
    problems that need to be corrected. 1) Every song file now has a duplicate. One
    file works and the other file will result in the same message stating that the
    file couldn't be located. Before there were 4,000 songs in the library, now
    there are 8,000 songs. I need to eliminate the 4,000 dead song files. 2) All
    the playlists are still associated with the dead song files which makes the
    playlists unusable. Can the playlists be reconnected to the usable files
    without manually having to recreate them? Thanks in advance for the help.

    So am I understanding correctly?
    You used your iPod as a hard drive (drag and drop) instead of having iTunes install the music?
    If you used drag and drop your choices are different than if you used iTunes to transfer.

    I am backing up on two different drives...one is on the time machine...the one I am having trouble with is a passport that I back up manually.  I have not gotten a notice from the backup on the time machine that there is an error. 
    Before this error occured....the "event" that the photo was in emptied without me doing anything.  This has happened before, when the total number of pictures that I have downloaded for the day, the events emptied overnight without me doing anything (????????)

    The static section shall be loaded before it's constructor is called. (i.e at the time of loading the class). Therefore making it available for any other objects to call.
