What happened to sync services?

It used to be so easy to sync my iPhone with my Macbook Pro with a cable. All I wnated were my Calendar and Contact files. Now, some genius has decided that they have to go to the iCloud!  Why? Who was bothered by the fact that the cable solution worked 100% of the time? The new vewrsion of iTunes and Mavericks (which was released way ahead of its time) have taken away more than they brought to the party.

I just checked the setup on my MacBook Pro (10.7.3) and it still has location services. However, it says my location is in Cuidad Juarez, Mexico, not where I am several miles away, in El Paso, Texas.
So my problem is associated with my MacPro.

  • What happened to my service in Mexico?

    I suddenly do not have service in Mexico. My plan says that I do and I am in an area that I have spent much time in the last 4 years having few problems. Suddenly my service is gone. In a time of emergency it wasn't there leaving me in a dangerous situation and unable to reassure my family.. T-Mobile plans work here as do AT&T as well as Sprint what happened to Verizon service? My daughter tried to help me by going into an office and telling them of my problems but they were not helpful. It is not like I can call Verizon myself because I am searching for service. I want help.

  • What happened to Customer Service?

    Background: Daughter has the Samsung Intensity 2 phone but no data plan. She texts constantly and continuously hits the Verizon web browser button by accident. She closes the browser as soon as she is finished with her text if not immediately. 
    Problem: The monthly bills roll in with HUGE data usage fees ($250 the first month) so we thought she was living on Facebook and every other website out there.  Called Customer Service but gave up after 15 minutes on hold.  We went to the store but they could not tell us what websites she visited.  We grounded her and threatened to take the phone away if she posted to Facebook again but the next month - same thing.  Slightly lower over the next 2 months.  Again went to the store - still no help - "Add a data plan to solve the issue!"  Finally frustrated beyond belief - called the number and waited on hold.  Meanwhile, went onto the website and found where you could easily block all web access from the phone. Also found the other complaints about the layout of the buttons on the Intensity 2 (epiphany and guilt over the groundings and yelling at the daughter each time the bill arrived.) WOW - that would have been nice to know $500 ago!  Also foudn the link to the FCC announcement about the 2012 settlement for mystery data usage charges that were suppsed to be fixed.  Really ****** now, I was determined to wait until I got a real person (only 5 more minutes this time.)  I explained the multiple visits to the store trying to get to the bottom of the usage issue with no help and the complete lack of documentation available to the person being billed for MB of data anywhere. Nothing that says what sites where visited to create the fee or even how long the connection to the internet lasted.  The Customer Service rep explained that I could access all these really cool tools online to manage the account settings (thanks found that already) but could not do anything about the bill so I asked and she put me on hold (for another 10 minutes) to talk to her Supervisor.  The Customer Service Supervisor was aware of the Data Charge Task force that was ordered to be created in 2010 but it "really doesn't apply in this instance" since she "obviously"  has used a lot of data and we should pay for it.  I asked him if he could tell what websites she visited or for how long to justify the fees - "No but we can tell it is her phone".  No kidding, really?  I am now waiting for his Supervisor to call me back in the next 72 hours.  I can hardly wait.  meanwhile, I have put all that on hold time to use by submitting a complaint with the FCC.  It's really easy to do - www.fcc.gov/consumers.  You can find the settlement announcement there too.
    The Solution:  Find another wireless provider or hope to goodness you never have an issue because you will have to find the solution yourself and will have to pay through the nose until you do. Also may want to bookmark the fcc complaint site since you will be using it often.

    Before you begin, do you have any idea what your account password is?
    I'm not asking you to tell me. I'm just pointing out that getting where you
    want to go on the phone is much easier if you know your password.
    You can always call Verizon and talk to a human. Granted, their website
    doesn't make them easy to find, but here are the telephone numbers:
    *611 from your cell, or 800.922.0204. (I highly recommend that you put these
    numbers in your contacts for future reference.)
    When the first menu system comes up, you want option 4, which is "Other".
    The next step is an automated voice which asks you to "say" what your
    question or problem is.  What you want to say is, "OPERATOR." 
    Next it will ask for your password. If you don't know your password, just
    don't enter ANYTHING.
    The next thing that happens is a human being will actually answer. You can
    explain your problem to them.
    If you have any problems because you don't know your password, go directly
    to your nearest Verizon store. I highly recommend you go on a weekday before
    3 pm if you can, as  that will narrow down the number of other customers.

  • What happened to the service in southeast georgia?

    I live between Statesboro and Savannah in Georgia. Within the last 2 weeks our signal strength has gone down to nothing (multiple phones so it's not a phone issue). We have nearly "full bars" prior to that. Now it's good to get 1.

        Oh my! That's quite the large area to be having trouble in, Daniel469273. I don't see there've been any recent reports of service troubles, and with such a large area giving you trouble I'd like to find out more about your phone. What model are you using? Do you have more than one line on your account experiencing this trouble? When did your difficulties with signal begin?

  • What happened to Customer Service and Loyalty!!

    I had been a VZW customer for about 7years and i have always had a good relationship with them until 12/26/13.(guess cuz i never needed help with anything) long story short, I dropped my phone and needed a replacement.. i had insurance but was due for an upgrade in early feb.. so i went into the store to see if it was possible to upgrade now that way i wouldn't have to pay the 100 dollars for the insurance claim on a phone i no longer wanted, just to turn around a pay another 300 to upgrade in another month and a half.. the sales person who happened to be the manager at the store (arroyo crossings las vegas) totally blew me off and was not interested in helping me or keeping me as a customer even after i explained my situation..Left the store and went straight to sign up with AT&T .. i guess im just a customer that pays her bill on time and has been loyal to a company who could care less about being loyal..

    I am bitterly disappointed in Verizon......they did use to be a decent company....sort of.  now they are greedy and arrogant.  no customer loyalty and bending over backwards to keep customers, much less to keep customers happy.  I moved to a new home recently, and who knew you should check out your (removed) cellphone's signal in addition to checking that all drains and electrical switches in the house work?  so in this new place, I have NO signal inside the house and very little outside the house.  it's not my fault Verizon's towers don't friggin' work here...and again, who knew?  so they want $175 plus 75 before a "discount" for a "coverage extender," and I can't pay that.  great.  they are willing to let me out of my contract for free.  is a stupid Catch-22 for both of us. not only that, but I have other family members on this plan.  so the (removed) with Verizon.... I'll check into CREDO who operate under Sprint.  yech.....this is sickening....

  • What happens when Sync "connects to" local server?

    While setting up an account, one of the options is "Connect to." There is a drop-down with a default setting of "Firefox Sync Server." I believe the other option is something about setting up your info on a local server, but I can't find anything in the instructions about it.
    I have a Western Digital network attached storage drive which looks just like extra drives to all my PCs. Can Firefox Sync save my data on a device attached to my LAN? If so, can I move the target for the existing account or do I have to make a new account?

  • Z10 What happened to sync for contacts etc.

    I managed (with the help of my cloud Outlook provider) to sync contacts and calendar using ActiveSync.  However, the Outlook Notes (which I heavily depend on and has always synced in the past) no longer syncs.  To me, this is unacceptable!
    I can do without new features but can not lose those that have worked (flawlessly) in the past.

    Notes will only sync through ActiveSync if you're running Exchange 2010.

  • What happen to ManagementServer and How to navigator table

    I use win2k server platform.
    now after I login in, the "OracleOraHome81ManagementServer"
    service will start up automatically.
    But every time it will down after it just
    started up. The error type is:
    "The service has terminated abnormally. See the file E:\Oracle\Ora81\sysman\log\OMS.log for details. "
    But I can't find such file in the directory.
    Now my problem is " what role does the
    management server play, and what happen to
    the service.
    BTW:
    My server also have the following problem,
    does they relate each other?
    1 the "WMI ADAP was unable to load the perfproc.dll performance library due to an unknown problem within the library: 0x0 "
    2: The Remote Storage File service hung on starting.

  • What happened to the add on update button?

    Previously the help tab would show an update feature for add-ons,
    what happened to that service?

    If you open Tools > Add-ons, you can check for updates using the "gear" icon. I'm not sure if that works exactly the same, but it's the only one I know of, besides the plugincheck site.

  • From Sync Services.  Reconnect or try again later."  It's a pop-up message, I click, OK the Sync happens.  What's going on here?

    When I Sync our iPhones (4) in iTunes I routinely get the following message:
    "iTunes was unable to load provider data from Sync Services.  Reconnect or try again later"
    It's a pop-up message.  I mouse click "OK," and the Sync procedes to completion uneventfully.  What I'm I missing here.  It just started happenign recently with one of the latest updates.  Is it important?  How should I respond?  Or, should I just not worry about it?

    The article says that I should upgrade to the latest iTunes. I am on the latest iTunes version.
    If you could read just a tiny little bit further, under the "Additional Information" section immediately after that, it says:
    If you are still experiencing this issue when syncing, or have not installed Xcode 4 and get this alert:
    Follow the troubleshooting steps in Mac OS X v10.5, v10.6: Resetting the SyncServices folder.
    If the issue is still unresolved, follow steps in Sync Services: Advanced troubleshooting for contact and calendar syncing.
    Have you tried those measures?

  • When trying to sync my I Phone 4 to I tunes I am getting a message: Unable to Data class information from Sync Services. What does this mean?

    When I-tunes is trying to sync my phone, I get a message regarding Data Class Information from Sync Services saying they were unable to do this.  I have no idea what this means.  I have not been having any problems with syncing info from my computer to phone until just now.  I am trying to install new alert tones from an app that I purchased.  The alert ones are now in my library on I-tunes and they play but they are not syncing to my phone.  The snycing options is not available in my library and when I try to manually sync these tones, nothing is happening.  I recently purhcased ringtones from the I-tunes store and from my phone and they downloaded with no problems and are synced onto my computer and are showing up in the same library list as the tone alerts which I cannot seem to sync.  I have no idea why this is.  Please help!
