What I want to see from iPod.

I'm not sure if this is the right part of the forum for this, but I've been wanting to see 1 small addition to the iPod for a while now.
iTunes allows for custom sections to be displayed (for instance Album Artist). This is exactly how I organize. If I have something like a soundtrack I label it under album artist as Various Artists (Crazy Heart Soundtrack) as a for instance. This way it keeps soundtracks together without having to dig through tons of albums (I currently have a 120 GB Classic)
So, my suggestion. If you utilize a category like Album Artist in iTunes, your iPod should allow you to display the music in that manner. Seems simple enough.

  • Want to sync FROM ipod TO computer w/CD loaded music

This is a strange one. I have what I believe is a first or second generation ipod nano. The ipod and the computer were working wonderfully. We loaded lots of music via CD into the computer and synced w/ the ipod. Then I had to give the computer back to my mother-in-law, so before I gave it to her I wiped out the itunes library on the computer.
NOW, we have the computer back so we can load more music onto the ipod. I simply want to load the music from the ipod TO the itunes library on the computer -- but it won't let me. Is there any way to do this without having to wipe out all the music that is on the ipod and reload manually into the computer, then sync to the ipod??
PLEASE HELP!! The computer in question is a Dell laptop.
    Thanks.

For iTunes version 7 or later, then you can transfer purchased iTunes store music from the iPod to an authorized computer by using the "file/transfer purchases from iPod" menu. Note that the maximum of 5 authorized computers applies here.
Find out how to do that here.
How to copy iTunes purchases from an iPod or iPhone to a computer.
For all other non purchased content (your own CDs etc), check out the instructions/suggestions here.
Music from iPod to computer (using option 2). This a manual method using "hidden folders" and although it works, it is a little more involved than other methods.
Much easier ways are to use one of the many 3rd party programs that copy music from the iPod to the computer.
One of the most recommended is Yamipod. This is a free program that transfers music from iPod back to the computer. However, it does not transfer playcounts/ratings etc.
Other free programs are Pod Player, SharePod and Floola and iDump.
If you want to recover just the structure of playlists from the iPod (and not the actual song files themselves), there's iRepo for Windows. which I understand has this feature along with all the standard features for these programs.
iPodRip also has the feature enabling you to reconstruct playlists.
There is also CopyTrans. This does preserve ratings/playcounts etc if those are important to you but this program is not free. It also supports video transfer.

  • Looking for Dockable Case, What about old Docking Station from ipod?

    Hey everyone,
You must know by now that most plastic cases wont let you dock your ipod because the new docking station is too tight. Has anyone tried using the old dock from the video ipod or older and than docking with a plastic case? If so, what's a good case to buy to protect from dropping which would fit in the old docking stations?

I just bought a Speck Toughskin, which I really like. It feels pretty rugged and seems like it would protect the iPod if I dropped it (I'm a klutz). It has a detachable belt clip on the back. I also like the hard screen protector--it has a little rubber rim on the bottom so it doesn't actually touch the screen, which should keep it from getting scratched. My only concern is how well the iPod will dissipate heat while charging, but I figure I can punch a few small holes in the back if it becomes an issue.
The only downsides to this particular case are that you cannot put it in a dock, it does bulk up the iPod a bit, and it completely covers the iPod so it's not the best choice for someone that wants to maintain the standard appearance of their iPod. But for good solid protection, it seems pretty hard to beat (no pun intended).

  • What I want to see on the next thunderbolt display.

One of the problems with the current version of thunderbolt display is that it isn't aligned with the iMac. One great solution is if the height is adjustable, ii it`d be ergonomic (every table and chair is different) and align perfectly both on the bottom or top (assuming different screen sizes).
There is also no decent solution I could find to rotate screens 90 degrees so it facilitates writing and coding. The best solution in my opinion is to unlock rotation when the user rotates to the back, then when the user rotates to the front to be able to use the screen it would lock again and the OS would rotate the image automatically. The upside is that when the user rotates to the back to unlock rotating to the sides it would stop the screen from hitting the table and would be an elegant solution as it keeps the back of the screen with no unnecessary buttons.
If anyone knows a great screen with rotation, let me know that I want to buy it.

#1 new feature: Render Faster Button!
#2 new feature: Steampunk control surface! Real world cranks, dials and knobs! Fine Victorian gingerbread wood inlays. The sweet smell of burning coal.
But seriously, if you've been keeping track of when Adobe releases software, chances any new features would have to have been locked down by now so they can program it in and test it thoroughly.
So really, what would you like to see in CS8? But you can't answer that until CS7 comes out!

  • In my numbers when I click on a cell it shows the formula but what I want ot see is the number I input inot the cell.  what did I do and how can I change it?

In Numbers, when I click on a cell I see the formula, how do I see the number I input inot the cell?

    Gerald,
    A cell either contains:
    1) what you typed (or entered) OR
    2) the result of a formula
to enter a formula, select a cell, then type the "=" sign then the formula, then enter
to enter a number oer text, then type the number(s) or text you want, then the enter key
the contents of a cell is the last thing you typed into that cell.  If there was a formula, then selecting the cell and typing will result in losing the formula.
B3 will change as you modify the cell contents in B1 and B2

Have you made any backups of your music and photos? If so, just restore from the backups.
Can I transfer my music and photos back from my ipod touch onto my computer?
Music, possibly - using a suitable third-party tool. But all your photos will only be relatively low-res versions formatted for the iPod.
I just upgraded to Panther and noticed I no longer have iPhoto or iDVD on my computer.
You'll have to re-install them from the original source. These are part of iLife, not Mac OS X.

  • What i want to see in n98

Dear Nokia you are too late in catching others. while samsung and SE are moving to 12mp phones and 720p video you have not yet reached on 8mp mark. You are too late. please  think about these things.FORGET N97 AND CONCENTRATE ON N98.I want N98 to have following spec.
12mp camera,28mm wide lense , Blink , Face and smile detection
    HD video,
    At least 256mb ram,
    support for bluetooth 3.0,
    USB 3 support,
    48gb  built in memory,
    At least 900mhz processor
OLED display of 3.5 inch with WVGA  (800*600) resolution,
     2000  mAh lithium poly battery

I know this is a user to user support forum but it is regularly viewed and inspired by the people at Nokia, so there is need left for contacting them directly.
Speculations are started about what will be the next becaue Nokia is not an ordinary company,it is the world leader in mobile phone sector. so expections are also very high about the feature sets and also making good speculation is not a crime.
As far as mega pixels are concerned they are one of the ingredient of improving image quality along with better lense and software. But you cannot compete  by merely improving the software and not megapixels. If that is the case the you have a very good software and VGA camera,  will it compete with a 5 megapixel rubbish!.
You are right every body is surprissed about N97 processor because it is the world fastest processor!!!!! .N97 is Nokia's flagship device and it has a processor of 434 MHZ where as Nokia's own E55 has 600MHz and samsung omnia HD  and Apple Iphone has 600 MHZ. if low speed processor are best then why companies  are making higher speed processor, It means  they are wasting time and money  according to you!!
Nokia N series sets  (especially N9X) are not for every folk of people but they are for technology enthsiastics. For common man there are variety of other sets. And you are wrong again by saying that phones are made  for all user groups, if that is the case then,Are all people buying Nokia Primium series set (8800 arte, carbon arte and gold arte)?
The word "skiping" is for the guys at nokia research. After all they are not sitting idle.
It is the curiosity due to which we are enjoying all kinds of new developments, if there is no curiosity then were sitting in the caves like early human beings.
And lastly the whole world knows that  N series belong to nokia, it is the the trade mark of nokia. so if there will be N98 it belongs to Nokia not with any chinese company. As far as counterfeit products are concerned  there is hardly any set of nokia which is not being copied.

  • What I want to see in Nokia phones

In 2000, I switched from Motorola to Nokia. Last month I got my sixth Nokia phone, the E71. I will continue to buy Nokia phones as long as the following are met. Similarly, any of the following not met will give me reason to switch.
    1. The power charger must remain the same.
    2. Dialing out on tether is a must!
    3. VOIP (wifi and GSM/UMTS) like the E series would be necessary.
    4. The screen size has to grow. The E71 is same as the E65 and my 10-year old daughter's 6120.
Nokia should abandon the PC Suite and stick to its day job of making great phones. Let others, like Microsoft, do software. Just provide the drivers (modem and mass storage). I have not touched the PC Suite for many years now. I dial out from my notebook through the E71 using standard Vista Bluetooth drivers. However, I am unable to export my SMSes which I have accumulated from the last three phones. I am waiting for the day when the SMSes can simply be dragged out in one .txt file.
    Thank you.

  • Why has playlist for videos been removed? As I have nearly as much movies as music that need to be grouped, why can I not group them anymore instead of going thru 500 icons to find what I want to see. This has to be fixed!

  • HT1351 Only want to see sync songs/artists/albums on iPod touch (not the whole library in iTunes). How to do it?

I only want to see on iPod touch songs/artists/albums manually selected for sync (not the whole library in iTunes). How to do it? Not sync titles appear in grey colour...

So if I understand you correctly, you want to be able to sync only certain songs, artists, and albums correct? If so you can configure this set up from under the iPod's Music configuration tab in iTunes as described in the Syncing Automatically section in the Apple support document you linked in at the top of the page.  Note that you cannot select only certain songs, but you can set it up to sync selected Artists, Genres, and Albums.
If the tab and its configurations are grayed out, it is likely because your iPod is set up for manual management, meaning the manually manage music and videos option is enabled from under the iPod's Summary tab.

  • Ipod software that lets me do what I want

I want to buy an ipod but from what I hear you can't put more songs on an ipod from another computer or even from your own computer with out all the songs on the ipod, but not on the computer, getting deleted. If I wanted to have 7500 songs on my computer I wouldn't be buying an ipod. Someone told me there's software or something that lets you do what you want with your own ipod and your own computer, which I don't think is a lot to ask. Anyway I don't mean to complain but it's true. If someone could help me out I'll probably buy one, but if there's no such software then I'll just get an mp3 player that doesn't tell me what to do.

If I'm understanding you correctly, iTunes has an option that lets you manually add songs to your iPod (from your own computer). You don't lose anything from your iPod when you add songs this way, and can upload a song at a time whenever you want. iTunes doesn't need you put your entire song library onto your iPod every time you connect it. You just switch the program setting from automatic updating to manual. It's not at all complicated.
As far as taking songs from other people's computers, I believe you can't for piracy reasons, for the same reason that you can't download songs from an iPod to a computer.
There are programs out there that allow you to get around this, but the iPod wasn't really meant to work this way and you use them at your own risk.

  • How do i get my "on the go" playlists from ipod to library.

I have an ipod classic that I manually sync. For speed I make playlists using "on the go" and now have a number of these that I want to transfer from ipod to my library.  The only way I can think of doing this is to revert to automatic syncing. When I start to do this I get a warning message saying my ipod will be wiped and only content in the library will be sync'd. Does this mean I will lose any playlist created on my ipod ?  Can anyone advise please?

Despite the fiend's confident manner and his curt correction, I believe he is very mistaken about this.  I sensed this was baloney and kept looking, to find a thread in which the same is discussed for iPhone, but it worked on my Classic iPod as well.  (I don't mean to get overly down on a.f, but one should be careful and try to be sure before telling someon they can't do something that seems like a basic function that should by all reason be possible - Not that  all lack of reason doesn't often apply to these products...)
How to transfer playlist from iPhone to iTunes 11.1.3?
The procedure described here did work for me, but know this: if I hadn't somehow actively saved an on-the-go list long ago (and forgotten,) I never would have known, because although I have been selecting tons of tracks for "on the go," apparently it erases all lists when you power down, unless you do that deliberate save.  That's right; c beyond all sense of reason (case in point of above) the iPod does not continue to save selections in one growing on-the-go list unless you save it before shut-off.  Saving auto names that list and starts over.  So while I would like to have one big list in which to save all songs for future DJ choices, I will have to have a new list for every time I select even one single song before power off, or POOF gone.  Wish I'd known that before, I stupidly assumed 100 or more songs were saved cause I never checked.
Check it out and see if it works for you.  Cheers.  And no offense A.F.
I guess considering how tedious and dysfuntional this is (also not a first for Apple,)  I will find another way to earmark tracks on the fly, like use a star rating which I've never really used with consistency.  You might consider the same if you have similar purposes.  If you're sitting down and deliberately making a specific list all at once, save it and you should be good to "go."

  • Firefox will not open pages I want to see. How do I fix this?

On many occasions when I click on a link, all I get is a blank page. Sometimes when Firefox does this, there is a button for "Allow"; however, on many occasions there is no "Allow" button, and I cannot see the content. This is particularly troubling when I'm at my banking site, and I can't see important information. I have to go to Windows Explorer to see what I want to see.

    Hello,
'''Try Firefox Safe Mode''' to see if the problem goes away. Safe Mode is a troubleshooting mode, which disables most add-ons.

    * On Windows you can open Firefox 4.0+ in Safe Mode by holding the '''Shift''' key when you open the Firefox desktop or Start menu shortcut.
    * On Mac you can open Firefox 4.0+ in Safe Mode by holding the '''option''' key while starting Firefox.
    * On Linux you can open Firefox 4.0+ in Safe Mode by quitting Firefox and then going to your Terminal and running: firefox -safe-mode (you may need to specify the Firefox installation path e.g. /usr/lib/firefox)
    * Or open the Help menu and click on the '''Restart with Add-ons Disabled...''' menu item while Firefox is running.

    Hi Becki ..
You need to "authorize" the Mac.
Launch iTunes on the Mac then from the iTunes menu bar top of your screen click Store > Authorize This Computer.
Now, using the same Apple ID as you used to purchased iTunes media originally, you should be able to sync all your content.
