If I understand you correctly, you are asking how to resize your partitions for MacOS and Windows (Boot Camp) you don't want to reboot the computer to do it. If that is correct, then I don't know of any way for you to do what you want. In order to resize the partitions, you will need to reboot the OS that is running from the partitions, preferably exit the OS, resize the partitions, then restart the OS, so it has a clean view of the disk.

You wouldn't need to see the screen to backup unless you have a passcode on the device. Is that the case? You should be able to plug the device into the computer with iTunes and just select backup now.

You need a PDF editor, at the high end use Adobe's Acrobat Professional, at the low end use the editing features in Preview (pre-loaded on your iMac). However you should probably look at the Mac App Store, you will find many of PDF editing applications. You simply need to find one that suits your needs.

I understand that Sony is not to support endless models of the computers that have been placed by them out on the open market, however Microsoft itself has found a need to include windows 7 computers within their list of computers eligible for a free upgrade. As such, when Sony tells us that they will not participate in the upgrade, they essentially tell me that if they create a product that fails, that they will not support it at all, and leave all their loyal customers to fend for themselves. I have been a long time supporter of Sony and have unbelieveably been an ambassador for their company, for years since I was a child, I owned Sony Walkmen, minidisc players, DVD players, televisions, ALL OF MY COMPUTERS EVER WERE SONY, sony rewards, sony wheelers (wheel of fortune) club, Countless car stereos, home stereos, Sony dream machine alarm clocks in every room, playstation, PS2, PS3, periferals, cases, Imagestation, Sony eMarker, many of which have failed, and we accepted those failures in fact and still continued on supporting your innovation and knowhow because you continued support or somehow some way still found a way to make things right, KEEPING OUR LOYALTY!!!! And now we find ourselves here, a company that's failing little by little, when I see that they do not support drivers for computers they built NOT THAT LONG AGO, and which Microsoft themselves will support, it makes me wonder. A very interesting NOTE to this thread. In order to try and get the "ignore permissions" box to show up in GET INFO (so I could execute Matt the Magician's solution to file sharing issues)-- I ran the terminal command for disabling ACLs on my internal HD / start up disk (as indicated in the linked thread to BDAqua's forum).
Although I understand that this was useless for disabling permissions on the start up disk (as everyone here pointed out) and allowing me to see the "ignore permissions" check box - somehow it did seem to fix my file sharing problem...and that was the root problem I wanted solved in the first place! After doing the terminal command and a quick reboot, I went in and tested file sharing on the chosen directory and I can create new files or work from existing files in the directory, with both users being able to modify / and save from both machines and each machine sees the revisions and can build from them. Bottom line - I'm stoked and want to thank everyone for their help.
The only other tweak I made was going over to my wife's machine and instead of using her log in / password, I just used my name and password to connect to my main machine that was sharing directories. Maybe that's what fixed the problem or the ACL disable but either way...I'm up and running the way I want to be.
Hope this thread helps anyone else who has these file sharing / permissions issues with Leopard. Especially for anyone wanting to do such a simple file sharing set up between 2 computers. I wish I understood exactly which tweak fixed the problem, but at least it works the way I want now.

That depends on what you have on the MBA...if you have videos, move the videos to the external drive. If you have a lot of music, create a folder/library for the music and point iTunes there for the music. If you have a lot of photos for iPhoto, make a new library on the external drive and move our photos over there and then select that library as the default library for iPhoto to use.
Those are the big files and should take a lot of the load off the internal storage.

First be sure login and password are OK. Sometimes the address starts wit "http://..." and sometime starts with "ftp://...". Try both normal FTP access and Scure FTP access (SFTP). At the end, contact the site's provider.

First step before doing anything with OD is to make certain that local DNS services are correct. To verify that, launch Terminal.app from Applications > Utilities on the test server, and issue the following harmless, diagnostic command:
sudo changeip -checkhostname
You'll need to enter your administrative password for the sudo to be accepted.
If the output from that command reports no changes are required, then an export from the original OD and an import into the test system would be typical for testing, if you trust what's in the original OD.
