What is a "private key" to send an email?

Hi,
I tried to send an email with an attachment and a window popped asking if I wanted to create a private key. I wasn't allowed to send the mail otherwise so I clicked on yes and did what I thought was setting up the private key. Then, when I tried to send the email again a different window popped up saying to "select sign key", with a Key ID # listed. I don't know where this # came from. When I clicked on it there was an empty box so I entered the password I had just set up for the private key I created but it said "incorrect password". As far as I can recall, the key I set up today with a password is the only key I have created.
Where do I go from here so I can send my email?
Thanks for your help.
DJ

That feature is for PGP encryption or another program like it.
The premise is you list a Public Key out on the net, then a person with the key can send you email or documents after you get their key.
It is something well to stay clear of since it can be very tricky to set up and use.
Go into the phone email settings and turn it off. It should be in your owners manual.

    Hi Shaheena
    The SmtpClient class is used to send e-mail to an SMTP server for delivery.

    Hi I want to send oneemail msg (only text) from mor than 2000 address.
    I want that the recp. will not c the other address (i. e. each address should be a BCC)
    what is the best way to do it? sned 2000 emails or to send 20 emails with 1000 recp. ?
    is there any limitation on the number of recp in BCC?
    10x alot Yonatan

    is there any limitation on the number of recp in BCC?
    mail server you are using may be the limiting factor. However, most mail server handle 2000 recp. You will get smtp error 552 if the mail server cant handle 2000 recipients.

  • Generate public private keys inside smart card

    Dear all,
    I am using this code to generate public and private key inside the smart card.
    KeyPair kp = new KeyPair(KeyPair.ALG_RSA_CRT, KeyBuilder.LENGTH_RSA_512);
    kp.genKeyPair();
    PrivateKey prikey = kp.getPrivate();
    PublicKey pubkey = kp.getPublic();
    This code is executing without errors.
    I need to get out the public key from the smart card. So I need to get public key to a byte array.
    But I can't get those keys to plain text byte array.
    The methods that I can get for pubkey object are
    pubkey.clearKey();
    pubkey.equals(obj);
    pubkey.getSize();
    pubkey.getType();
    pubkey.isInitialized(); only these.
    I am using
    Eclipse Version: 3.4.1 (Compiler complience level = 1.4)
    Jcop plugin (to communicate with the actual card and to test the java code in virtual card provided by JCOP)
    OmniKey5321 card reader (In contactless type)
    What is the reason to get only those above methods to pubkey object? Is it a version problem?
    How can I get the public key to plain byte array? Is it possible?
    If it is not possible Is there a way to get public key as a export certificate or something other solution?
    If my scenario is not a possible strategy, How can I use public private keys to send specific data to applet? Is there a better way to do this?

    Thank you very much!
    I used this code
    RandomData rand = RandomData.getInstance(RandomData.ALG_SECURE_RANDOM);
              short lenBytes = (short) (KeyBuilder.LENGTH_DES/8);
              byte[] buffer = JCSystem.makeTransientByteArray(lenBytes,JCSystem.CLEAR_ON_DESELECT);
              DESKey key = (DESKey) KeyBuilder.buildKey(KeyBuilder.TYPE_DES , KeyBuilder.LENGTH_DES,false);
              rand.generateData(buffer, (short) 0 ,lenBytes);
              key.setKey(buffer, (short) 0 ) ;
              byte keyData[]= new byte[256];
              key.getKey(keyData, (short) 0);
    Now I know how to initialize the key...
    Thank you again.

  • Private key from 5.1 to 7.0

    Hi, we're currently upgrading from WebLogic server 5.1 to 7.0. The private
    key generated by WLS 5.1 does not use any password, and can therefore not be
    used with 7.0
    Do I have to generate a new private key and order a new SSL certificate, or
    is there a way I can assign a password to my existing private key so I can
    continue using this ??

    Incorrect PEM headers/footers can confuse the tool.
    Double check that the header and footer for your PEM file match thecontents
    of the
    data in the file.
    If it was an unprotected RSA private key, the header and footer shouldlook
    like
    this:
    -----BEGIN RSA PRIVATE KEY-----
    -----END RSA PRIVATE KEY-----
    It should not say it is a certificate (which is the default for theder2pem
    utility), and it
    should not say it is an encrypted private key.

    Hi, and thank you for your answer. I've tried the tool you mention, but
    I
    get the following error message:
    "Error parsing BER private key data 3000"
    Since my private key is in .der format I have first run the weblogicutil
    utils.der2pem on it, but I still get this error message.
    Any ideas ??

    You should not have to generate a new key.
    There is a native tool that is supplied on the WLS kit that can
    protect
    an
    unprotected private key for you:
    wlkeytool inputkey.pem outputkey.pem
    It will prompt for passwords, I believe that will do what you want.
    Tools such as OpenSSL should also be able to protect the private key.

  • Is there any way to find whether the private key is capable of 40 bits encr

How you extract the modulus depends on what format the private key has been stored in.

  • Please guide me on the issue of private key

    Hi All
    I am working on application that requires to do encryption and decryption using public and public key. I need some guidance on how to implement this functionality. The only requirement is to have public key and private key in two different files. For public key i can get it from .cer certificate file but i do not have much idea of what feature in java is provided to read private key from file. The file is definately not the keystore file. Please guide me as to in what format the private key should be so that my java program could read it and do decryption.
    Another thing is that the private and public key file will be provided by the client. I do not have any control on creating them. I will be given a location where i could find public and private key and passphrase for private key.
    Basically i do not have any clue on what class or technique to use to read those
    Thanks and Regards
    Pankaj Tiwari

    This is how i create the private and the public key files (Not the certificate file) :
    KeyPairGenerator kpg = KeyPairGenerator.getInstance("RSA");
    kpg.initialize(2048); // 2048 is the keysize.
    KeyPair kp = kpg.generateKeyPair();
    PublicKey publicKey = kp.getPublic();
    PrivateKey privateKey = kp.getPrivate();
    // Serialize to a file
    ObjectOutput outPK = new ObjectOutputStream(new FileOutputStream("C:/Temp/PrivateKey.ser"));
    outPK.writeObject(privateKey);
    outPK.close();
    This is how i verify the signature of a file :
    File fileKey = new File("C:/Temp/KeyPair/publicKey.ser");
    ObjectInputStream inPK = new ObjectInputStream(new FileInputStream(fileKey));
    PublicKey publicKey = (PublicKey) inPK.readObject();
    inPK.close();
    // C:/Temp/myfile.zip.sign is the file that was generated when i signed my file C:/Temp/myfile.zip
    String algorithm = "SHA1withRSA";
    String myFile = "C:/Temp/myfile.zip";
    File fileSign = new File("C:/Temp/myfile.zip.sign");
    ObjectInputStream inSign = new ObjectInputStream(new FileInputStream(fileSign));
    byte[] signature = (byte[]) inSign.readObject();
    inSign.close();
    Signature verif = Signature.getInstance(algorithm);
    verif.initVerify(pubKey);
    FileInputStream in = new FileInputStream(myFile);
    int chVerif = 0;
    while ((chVerif = in.read()) != -1) {
    verif.update((byte)chVerif);
    if (verif.verify(signature))
    System.out.println("OK");
    else
    System.out.println("Error");

  • How to change the sender's email address

    Basically, is there a way of changing the sender's address when using the hub to send emails from Gmail?
    I have the following domain / email registered with Enom: {REMOVED}. But, when I signed up to Gmail I had to use one of their email addresses: {REMOVED}. This is now my login name into Gmail.
    But I don't want people to see {REMOVED} whenever I send an email.
    Whilst using Gmail, I use the feature "Check email from other accounts" and here I have entered "{REMOVED}". What happens is that, whenever anyone sends an email to {REMOVED}, Gmail intercepts it and they show up within Gmail.
    Also, in Gmail's accounts section, I tell it to "Send mail as" to {REMOVED}. So, when I send an email, it says that it has come from {REMOVED}. That's great.
    However, when I send an email using Blackberry's Hub from Gmail, it says that it has come from {REMOVED}. Is there any way of altering this?
    I have downloaded the Gmail app, and does what I want. But I would rather use the hub to send emails. So is there any way to change the sender's address?
    Thanks.
    Mod Edit: Removed personal information to comply with Community Guidelines and Terms and Conditions of Use.

    Hello thirtynine,
    When sending email via Gmail from your BlackBerry 10 smartphone, the primary address will always appear on the sent message. This cannot be edited to appear as another address.
    Thank you.

  • BizTalkServer 2010 SFTP Adapter from CodePlex - Configuring send and receive locations with SSH public and private keys

    Hi there,
    I am looking for step by step instrcutions on how to configure SFTP Codeplex adapter for both receive and send ports.
    Out business partner with whom we push/poll the files from wants us to use SSH encryption/decryption etc.
    Just wondering if the following functionality is supported in Codeplex SFTP adatper without having to write any code.
    Appreciate if there is manaul to do this for SFTP. BTW I do have all the our public and private keys and business partners Public key for configuring.
    For Send port: 1. we would need to encrypt the file with our business partners public key
                          2. sign the file with our private key.
                          3. Send the file through to SSH client which eventually transfers to Remote server.
    Receive port:   1. Connect to SSH Server with SSH-2 key and receive the file
                          2. Verify the file's digital signature agaisnt the Business partners PGP public key
                          3. Decrypt the file using our PGP Public key
    Thanks in advance

    Yes it is supported.
    You can find its documentation in this link
    You can find section X.509 Certificate Identity Keys
    You can set public and private key in property SSH Identity thumbprint  of send and receive port
    I prefer to test it using client tool like
    FileZilla or WinSCP then test it using sftp adapter
