What is best devl environment

Hi All
I inherited a punch of code in an ear file.
The ear file contains many jar files (each handles some modules) and 1 war file
The users currently run the ear file in a Geronimo server
I don’t have Geronimo for development but I use eclipse and Tomcat.
Like the original developer, I can create each java project for each jar. Develop each jar separately, build the jars and put them back to the ear project to test with the war. This way I have to do lot of work to test the changes
I can also create a single web project and copy code from the jar files one by one to my web project, so all the java code will be in a single war file. This will be very easy for me to test but the structure of project will be changed
What is best development environment should I have? What is the benefits of having lot of jar projects then combine all in an ear vs. having 1 single war file
Thank you very much

Further, why can't you use the web project for testing and then the other convoluted way for deployment? Most professional systems have a different system for testing and actual builds.Good advice
I prefer 1 war file for easy testing, developingJust a caution: If your normal development/test environment is different from the final build/deploy environment, make sure you eventually test your code using the to-be-deployed version (before actual deployment). We don't do web apps, but we had a couple of problems in which the development testing of the server code worked because all Java class files were accessible when running from Eclipse, but the deployed version of the system failed (beta deployment, so we had time to fix it in the next beta version before full operations). From Eclipse, we run from the individual class files. The application is actually deployed in jar files, and the server jars didn't include certain packages because it was assumed that those packages were "client-only" (this particular issue was just a Date formatting method, so it had nothing actually GUI-related in it). Instead of changing the definition of the jar files, we moved the method to a package that was already included in both server and client jar files.

  • What is best solution for backup ?

Our environment consisted of RAC (2 nodes). we are trying to back up our database using RMAN with NetBackup.
we also have other different databases need to be backed up.
In RAC case, what is best solution for backing up the database ?
As I mentioned above, we are using RMAN for backup our RAC with NetBackup.
Actually, the RMAN is not simple utility for me.
Is there any other way to back up the database in our situation without rman.
I need some advice from all of you.
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi Justin
There are many possible ways to backup your database. You must decide the one that suits your environment.
Following is the list of options that you have.
    1. Take Online Backups
Issue this command to freeze tablespaces
    SQL> ALTER TABLESPACE tblspcname BEGIN BACKUP;
Copy all the files belonging to this tablespace to your backup location using OS commands.
Release the tablespace by using this command.
    SQL> ALTER TABLESPACE tblspcname END BACKUP;
To find the data files belonging to a particular tablespace you can issue this statement
    SQL>SELECT file_name, tablespace_name FROM dba_data_files ORDER BY tablespace_name;
    2. If your db size is not BIG then you can take logical backups. Logical Backups can be FULL or incremental. In 10g you can have filesets to spilit your logical backups in more than one file with specified sizes. (By Logical Backups I mean EXPORT).
To take export for example issue this command.
    ORACLE_HOME\bin\exp file=fullpath+filename.dmp log=fullpath+logfilename.log FULL=Y userid=system/pwd@dbconnectstring
To get full list of export parameters type
    ORACLE_HOME\bin\exp help=y
    3. RMAN (Strongly recommended) but you ruled out its possibility so I won't elaborate on that.
    4. COLD BACKUP
To perform this type of backup you will need to shutdown your database by issuing this command.
    SQL>SHUTDOWN IMMEDIATE;
(On RAC you will need to shutdown all the instances before copying files to the backup location).
Use OS copy command to copy files to backup location.
(This method is not recommended as it will flush your SGA and your client will complain about performance for the first few hours).
Let me know if you need more details.
    Hopefully this helps.
    Rgds

  • What are best options for home Mac Wi-Fi setup?

Having a newer 3rd gen iPod Touch and planning on getting
an Apple laptop ... what are some of the better Wi-Fi options
to setup in my home environment (using indoors and around
    the house, patio, etc.?
I'm obviously aware of Apple's products like AirPort Express Base Station,
AirPort Extreme Base Station, and maybe even the older AirPort bases, but
would also welcome any suggestions to inexpensive third-party "Mac friendly"
Wi-Fi routers as well (ie: Belkin, NetGear, etc.)
Some of the older Apple AirPort Base units are showing up on eBay, and
even though slower than the newer Apple Wi-Fi routers, seem to offer a reasonable
entry point at a reasonable price.
What are some of the best Wi-Fi routers for a basic setup, the most reliable, and
    least expensive for starting out?
    Any suggestions will be appreciated.

Apple routers generally work well but are expensive and in the middle range of performance. The Airport Extreme base station works well and is capable of operation across both the 2.4 and 5 GHz bands. Your Macbook will do well at 5 GHz and your touch at 2.4 GHz. However, there are other routers out there that will perform better for less money.
So, I suggest you do some research on what would best fit your needs. The following website, http://www.smallnetbuilder.com/ does a really good job of wireless router reviews, albeit a bit technical. If you don't need the 5 GHz band, then there are a number of 2.4 GHz routers out there that will do really well for under $100. A good wireless N 2.4 GHz router will work well in your application.
For prices and user reviews, both NewEgg and Amazon are much better locations to research/purchase than E-Bay.

  • What's best approach for a person with dual office?

    Hi,
I have an UC560 system to deploy. There are 3 users in company who work from home too. For home I have ordered SPA525G2 that has SSL VPN capabilities but when they go in office, they would be using 7945 phone in their dedicated cube. The office phone would not be shared.
What's best way to configure this setup? I know extension mobility works for hoteling setup but this is different. Would it be possible to assign same primary extension to 2 different phones without an overlay configuration?
    What's best approach here?
    Thanks in advance,
    Sam

I could be wrong about this in the classical music environment,

    will correct me.  Ha.
You always run the risk of small changes between takes - and that's where Audition 3 and the new improved crossfades score rather heavily. You won't notice 1dB on a single instrument across a fade though - it's hard to spot this as a jump, even, unless it's on pure tone. No, I very rarely close-mic stuff at all, although I did with a clavichord recently - it's seriously too quiet to mic any other way.

when recording classical music, any engineer worth anything has the mix down pat as it's being recorded.
That's the way they used to work, certainly - but not nowadays, especially if it's done on location, which most classical recording is. What's more likely to happen is that you'd use decent mic preamps feeding straight into a multitrack, or even some software on a laptop. I generally record like that - but I also feed the multitrack outputs to a Yamaha mixer via ADAT, do a mix on that and record it back to a spare multitrack pair. I don't actually need to do that - but having a mix available from the multitrack that's pretty much there is good as far as being able to play back takes to conductors is concerned.
Of course, one of the other reasons that classical sessions recorded on location aren't mixed on the spot is that the monitoring conditions are invariably far from ideal, and I'd have it that no engineer worth anything would ever risk a final mix done on location.
But I only get paid to do all of this on a regular basis, so what would I know? Must be something though - my customers come back for more...

  • Whats the best method to deploy sccm 2012 client

Hello what is the best method to deploy SCCM 2012 client, is there a script that should be used as sometimes the client push fails. In particular pushing the client to server 03 /08/12 types.
    Thankyou
    SCCM Deployment Technician

Ultimately, the best method is whatever works for you. Every environment is different and has unique constraints and requirements. You first need to learn out each of the methods and what they do to be able to properly evaluate which will work best for you.
Kind of like mining for gold, who cares how you got it out of the ground, once you get it out, you're rich :-) But if you rely on someone else telling you what the best way was for their mine, you may not be doing it the best way for your mine thus you need
to geological surveys, exploration, trial and error, etc. In other words, you need to do some real grunt work.
Often, using multiple methods is best though because each has its pros and cons (yes, even my startup script -- thanks for the cheerleading Michael and Tim). But as mentioned, it all comes down to you learning about your environment and the different
methods available to make the best choice. If there was only one "best" way to do it, there wouldn't be multiple available and none of us would really be needed.

  • In iLife08 what is best setting to convert avi 720 and digital video 1080i

What is the bottom line for best quality for 720 p TV.
1.) My import is digital video 1080i to i Movie 08 (full quality)
What should I use for sharing on AppleTV
    - the preset Large (which is 960x 540)
    - or some custom setting 25 fps at 1220x 720? ( H.264 display dimensions at 24/25 fps is 720p (1280x720) ) - or what should the setting be??
2.) Have Windows avi older 720 *480 video, what is best setting to convert this for Apple TV? The 640 setting on QuickTime premium is not very good
    Thank you so much. Peter

Your best option if you are using NTSC footage in imovie is the export to/movie large (960 x 540) at 30 fps, the resolution won't go any higher and still work on the tv. Don't even think about changing the framerate to 24/25 fps, even though you'll be able to export to 720p (1280 x720) changing the framerate will make your video jerky.
If you are using PAL then yes you could export to 720p (even though the specs say 24 fps, 25 fps does in fact work as well), you could try a few tests yourself but I've already done them and IMHO there is so little difference between 960 x 540 and 1280 x 720 that it isn't worth messing about setting up and trying several manual exports to get the best results when you can click one button and be done.
So far a AVI conversion is concerned, I'd try mpegstreamclip, but saying that I can't really be sure. AVI is a container not a codec and I would need to know what codec is actually used inside the container to answer your question properly (Quicktime may tell you though). The problem with AVI is that it is simply so old (even microsoft abandoned it over 10 years ago), unfortunately in a small number of cases some of the codecs that were used in AVI are simply no longer able to be converted. Probably not so likely but at least you are warned.

The buzz words S/4 HANA is here .. 10 Unanswered questions Best things to know about HANA and list continues but am I  all really ready for this ? The question that circles around me
What is best to learn and Explore things when you know much about .. S/4 . can some tell me best ay to handle this ? And does knowledge only help to kill the non experience on this ?
    Awaiting reply

The first thing to do is understand how innovative companies are using S/4HANA. You can do this by watching free broadcasts from SAPPHIRE NOW and the HANA Effect podcast. If you don't understand how the S/4HANA innovations can help, then I think any other learning is just in a vacuum and not going to be productive.
Then I would suggest taking some of the many free courses available from SAP, like this one from OpenSAP.

  • Whats the best way to backup my iphone?

Hello. I am brand new to iphones....actually to apple anything. Never owned an apple product.  I dont quite understand the whole itunes/icloud thing at all and I was hoping someone could explain it to me.  All that I wish to accomplish is make sure all of my stuff on my iphone(apps, pics, music, etc) is backed up regularly and in the event that my iphone is lost/stolen, breaks, needs to be replaced for any reason, or if I upgrade to a new iphone I would like to be able to recover everything.
OK, so far I have itunes installed on my laptop and I "sync" with that regularly (pretty much whenever I install a new app). But is my understanding correct that by syncing with itunes all of my stuff is stored locally on my laptop? If that is true, then what happens if my laptop crashes? So thats where I thought icloud came in. So I started backing up to icloud (via wifi in Settings>icLoud>storage&backup).  But I notice that when I backup this way it is actually only backing up a small amount of data (in-app data??) rather than the entire app.
I thought you would be able to sign into icloud.com and be able to view everything that you have ownership of or what you have backed up but that is not the case. I did download the icloud control panel to my laptop and it shows a little more information.
So bottom line is I just need someone to explain how this stuff works and what the best course of action is for me to take regularly to make sure everything is safe, Thanks everyone!  I sincerely appreciate any help you can give me!!

    bjs19781978,
There are 2 ways to back up as you have stated.  iTunes or iCloud.
You are correct in saying iTunes backs up everything on your computer.  If you do lose your computer though, you will lose that information, but you would most likely still have your phone unless you lose your computer and phone at the same time which would royally suck.
You can also back up to iCloud like you have said.  iCloud does not back up in the exact same way as iTunes, it only backs up application data, contacts, address books, and a few more things.  The advantage to this is it does it automatically if you are connected to wifi, the phone is locked, and the phone is plugged in.
Look at this link to see exactly what iCloud does back up.  Hopefully this helps a little.

  • One headphone does not work or works 50% of the time.  What is best way to resolve?

one headphone does not work or works 50% of the time.  What is best way to resolve?

First of all, I'd recomend resetting the iPod. Do this by pressing the 'Menu' and 'Center" buttons for 10 seconds or until the Apple logo appears.
If this doesn't work, then it sounds like a hardware fault.
To identify the issue, if you have one, try plugging the iPod into a speaker through the dock. If this works, then the issue is with the headphone jack. If not then the logic board is dead.  If the iPod is less than a year old, then it can be repaired by Apple for free. Just book an appointment for the Genius bar.
If not then, you could see about sending it to an iPod Repair Company, such as my own. A replacement headphone jack would cost £30.00 in the UK, including next day delivery. Other companies you could try would beUKiPodRepairs, but we guarantee to beat any quote that you get.

I need to wipe my hard drive clean except for the OS whats the best way?

From Kappy (note: with this method, you will need to update to the present OS version using the appropriate Combo Update from Apple Downloads.)
Boot from the OS X Installer Disc One that came with the computer. After the installer loads select your language and click on the Continue button. When the menu bar appears select Disk Utility from the Utilities (Installer menu if using Panther or Jaguar) menu. After DU loads select the startup volume from the left side list then click on the Erase tab. Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled) then click on the Options button. Select the one pass Zero Data option and click on the OK button. Then click on the Erase button.
Note: You can skip the Zero Data option if you are not concerned about removing sensitive personal data from the hard drive. If you choose to skip this part of the process then it is possible for others to recover data from the hard drive. The Zero Data procedure will prevent others from getting access to your personal information.
This process will take 30 minutes to several hours depending upon the size of the hard drive. After formatting has completed quit DU and return to the installer. Now complete the OS X installation. At the completion of the installation do not restart the computer. Instead just shut it off. The next user will be presented with the Setup Assistant when they turn on the computer just as it would if new out of the box.
