What is causing these Youtube-related kernel panic messages?

I receive Kernel Panic messages while I watch videos on youtube. I have seen this problem cited in other forums, but I have been unable to find the solution.  I am aware that it is not the site itself that is causing the problem.  I can watch other videos and use video editing software without incidence, but youtube videos always cause the kernel panic after watching about a dozen (or sometimes fewer) videos.
Below is a copy of the kernel panic report for your information.  I'm looking forward to finding the solution to this.
Thanks in advance,
Requina

I'm having the same problem. Other video sites (Hulu, Vimeo) work fine. Youtube videos crash immediately (but not during the ads, only when the main video starts). The screen goes all crazy (as in weird colors and stuff) and the computer unresponsive.

  • Removal of non-mounted iPod Shuffle causes total crash or kernel panic

This one has me stumped. Here's what happens:
I leave my shuffle plugged in most of the time. Sometimes when my computer starts up, it doesn't "see" the shuffle on the desktop or in iTunes, and other times, everything seems fine, and I "eject" the shuffle in iTunes.
In either case, when I remove it from the USB port, my Mac (G4 MDD Dual 1GHz PPC, 10.4.11)"crashes." I don't know if what I'm seeing is a "kernel panic" which I have come to associate with strange text scrolling down the left side of the screen. What I get is a translucent gray screen that drops down quickly over the monitor, with a message in several languages saying something to the effect of "The Mac Must Be Restarted."
I have reset & restored the shuffle a few times. I have rebuilt my iTunes library. I have run Techtool, Disk Utility, Disk Warrior on the Mac and all checks out. I don't think I have any other USB issues as keyboard, wireless mouse, headset charger and Palm pilot all are OK.
What is this type of crash called, and how do I fix this issue?

No dock... this is a first generation shuffle.
I have it plugged in to a powered hub which is plugged in to a Macally USB2 card.
I know about the 3rd party wake from sleep issues, but my Mac is set to not sleep.
I've been doing it that way for a few years w/o problems.
Nothing has changed in my hardware setup since well before this started happening.
I'll see about plugging directly in to the Mac. Problem is, the ports are pretty inaccessible, and syncing on a USB 1 port is just awful.

  • Kernel Panic Message...Caused by new RAM???

Hey guys, just purchased 2x1gb ram from otherworldcomputing.com for my powerbook G4, im currently running the latest version I can possibly run which is 10.5.8  Everything seemed great when I put the RAM in, seemed like my computer was running pretty fast campared to the 512gb that came with the computer.  All of a sudden, while im searching the web, it throws that kernel panic message up at me.  I restarted and a few minutes later while im still on the web, bam, the same message.
I am currently in safe mode while Im writing this and nothing has happened yet(update:a few mintues after I finished typing this thread I received the same message, I have turned the computer off and jumped on my wiftes computer to type this I am thinking about putting the original 512mg ram back in to see if I get the message again)
Wierd, the first few days witht the new RAM everything seemed fine and then all of a sudden I got those messages.  I have never had the problem ever before so it makes sense that its gotta be the new RAM right?  Here are my specs

To eliminate RAM being the problem, Look at this link: Testing RAM @ http://guides.macrumors.com/Testing_RAM Then download & use Memtest & Ramber.
Do you have an Apple Hardware Test disc (the AHT is on the Install/Restore DVD that came with your Mac)? Running the Apple Hardware Test in Loop Mode is an excellent troubleshooting step for finding intermittent hardware problems. It is especially useful when troubleshooting intermittent kernel panics. If Loop Mode is supported by the version of the Apple Hardware Test you are using, you run the Extended Test in Loop Mode by pressing Control-L before starting the test. Looping On should appear in the right window. Then click the Extended Test button. The test will run continuously until a problem is found. If a problem is found, the test will cease to loop, indicating the problem it found. If the test fails, be sure to write down the exact message associated with the failure. In some cases, RAM problems did not show up until nearly 40 loops, so give it a good run.

  • Please help interpreting kernel panic message

    Hello.
Could anyone please help me to interpret the kernel panic message (below) I received today. I have had several such events recently, and I have already read and implemented the suggestions regarding resolving kernel panics listed on the X-Lab's X-FAQs website. I have run all the repair and diagnostic stuff that is usually recommended to other people posting questions about resolving kernel panics. I don't have anything plugged into my Mac except the keyboard and mouse, and I know that I could take my computer to a shop and have someone look it over.
My specific question is this: Can anyone interpret the actual content of this particular kernel panic message and give me any clue as to the likely source or cause of the problem, or what is happening?
I hope that no one is offended by my posting since I am not an expert who regularly uses this forum.
    Thank you very much!

    Hi, Chris and Maxit —
    Was this a one-time problem?
I claim no particular expertise, but I don't see much in the panic.log that helps to isolate a specific underlying cause.
That is, except for Maxit's rationale. Because the backtrace indicates that the exception occurred upon loading the IOAudioFamily .kext (driver, or extension "family"), related hardware &/or driver compatibility would typically be worth exploring. Please check to be sure that you've disconnected all non-critical peripherals & disabled login items and any "system enhancers" while you're troubleshooting this problem.
The 0x300 DAR (data access register) trap is probably the most common type of exception that causes kernel panics. It simply indicates that the processor couldn't perform a data memory access. This could be due to a programming issue or a hardware problem (e.g., "bad" RAM, HD corruption).
If the problem recurs without any more specific indication from a panic.log or, e.g., console.log entr(ies), I suggest you diligently work through the course of action presented in Resolving kernel panics.
Sorry I can't offer anything more magically insightful.
    Good luck!
    Dean

  • Problem with kernel panic message - Cannot boot from disk or usb

    Hi Everyone,
I was wondering if someone could help me with a problem I've been trying to tackle for the last few days. I have a 24" iMac 2.33 Ghz Dual Core, with 2 gigs of RAM. A couple of days ago my computer crashed, and when I tried to boot up again I got the infamous grey screen kernel panic message ("You need to restart your computer..."). What's worse is that I get the same message when I try booting from my external drive and the installation disk itself.
I've basically planned on formatting since it's been a while anyway, but since I can't boot from my external drive or the installation disk that came with my computer these are not options at the moment. I can only get into the computer via safe mode. I've used disk utility to verify the disk, and it comes up with no errors. Anyways, I'd really appreciate if anyone had any advice on this. I've scoured the internet for advice about kernel panic messages, and they all suggest booting from disk or external drive etc., which is not a possibility for me right now.
    Thanks

If you get a panic when trying to boot from the installation disc, and the disc is not scratched or dirty, then you have a hardware fault.
Make a "Genius" appointment at an Apple Store to have the machine tested.
Back up all data on the internal drive(s) before you hand over your computer to anyone. If privacy is a concern, erase the data partition(s) with the option to write zeros* (do this only if you have at least two complete, independent backups, and you know how to restore to bare metal from any of them.) Don’t erase the recovery partition, if present.
*An SSD doesn't need to be zeroed.
There are several ways to back up a Mac that is unable to fully boot. You need an external hard drive to hold the backup data.
    1. Boot into Recovery (command-R at startup) or from a local Time Machine backup volume (option key at startup.) Launch Disk Utility and follow the instructions in the support article linked below, under “Instructions for backing up to an external hard disk via Disk Utility.”
How to back up and restore your files
    2. If you have access to a working Mac, and both it and the non-working Mac have FireWire or Thunderbolt ports, boot the non-working Mac in target disk mode by holding down the key combination command-T at the startup chime. Connect the two Macs with a FireWire or Thunderbolt cable. The internal drive of the machine running in target mode will mount as an external drive on the other machine. Copy the data to another drive. This technique won't work with USB, Ethernet, Wi-Fi, or Bluetooth.
How to use and troubleshoot FireWire target disk mode
    3. If the internal drive of the non-working Mac is user-replaceable, remove it and mount it in an external enclosure or drive dock. Use another Mac to copy the data.

  • Macbook Pro i7 constant kernel panic messages

    Hi,
    I just bought a brand-new MBP i7 15.4 2.2Ghz which I picked 4 days ago, I must say what an experience!
Since then I have been receiving countless kernel panic messages (and computer freeze) running the latest MacOS 10.6.7 not to mention wireless connectivity issues but this is for another thread.
I have contacted Apple Care multiple times, but I am still experiencing this kernel panic messages as soon as I do something a little more computer intensive like searching for a file.
Has anyone any suggestions in regards to fixing these issues?
    Any help appreciated.
    Vincent

I had all of the same issues with a kernel panic ocurring, typically associated with video.
7 phone calls to apple until they finally told me to erase reinstall the OS.
before doing that and after much of my own research I uninstalled Elmedia player and the problem is resolved.
The uninstallation has to be done with the Elmedia uninstall application.

  • Ipad3 showing kernel panic messages and ios is crashing down frequently.

I am using ipad3. My ios is crushing down frequently since upgraded to ios 7.04. For the couple of occasions I saw kernel panic messages.  I have restored iOS plenty of times but still facing the problem. This issue makes it impossible to use this device now.  I am really fade up. I am seeking sincere and Cordial help of the technical bosses !

  • Ram related kernel panics on a MBP (ram used to work, hardware errors-)

    hello all
i have a 2.2GHZ intel core duo 2007 MBP, which once ran Tiger and is now running 10.6.3
I had the NVDIA graphic card break down associated with such models, and it was replaced thanks to the extended care plan, here in Paris, so the logicboard is new- I also got a (technician installed) new HDD, and snowleopard
I originally had the 2 1Gig ram, but 1st got an extra 2Gb of danelec ram, and finally another 2GB- it ran fine for a couple year or so-
then, a few months back I recently started getting kernel panics, on tiger- I fist thought they were HDD related, got a new drive installed by a technician, switched to snow leopard-
yet they continue, and they're apparently RAM related, yet what is odd is that they can be reproduced with any RAM combination involving 2 sticks- the original apple 1Gb + any of the two GB ram sticks, the 2GB ram sticks together in any slot-- it's all the same, the screen goes grey and i'm told to shut down the computer
with one ram stick it works, this avoids the issue- but not always
i've moved the ram around, checked the slots, reset the PRAM,yet the issue is still there.
now i know that I should be using paired ram, and will do so in the next coming months when I can afford it- yet what has happened to make the make the MBP seemingly refuse two sticks of RAM when it didn't before ? are the two sticks dead ? or is there an issue with the slot ?
I'd also need to know that this is not a logicboard issue if it's possible- the logic board was changed due to the NVDIA bug, so it's a year old or so-
I'm running it on the 2GB danelec as I type, no issue, the samsung ram works as well, and so does the 1GB apple ram, in any slot, yet two slots of ram causes the kernel panic crash- the area near the ram slot also seems to get very hot-
I ran the hardware test yesterday, booting from the tiger dvd, which was difficult (possible drive issue)
finally managed to boot into hardware test mode (must be a superdrive issue)
running an extended test with the 4GB of ram in there
first pass found an error :
    4MEM/9/40 000 000 : bc13950
    running the extended testing
    extended testing (1h39 min)
    no errors found
    ran another quick test
    error
    4MEM/9/40 000 000 : 6b506C4
    another quick test :
    no trouble found
    another : no trouble found
and a last pass : no trouble found
but i did have two errors...
looking the errors up online didn't give anything so far, any clue as to what might be wrong here ? the RAM used to work fine (i've been using these two sticks for over two years), the kernel panics started happening on tiger- got a new HD drive a month ago, installed snow leopard, - used disk warrior and disk utilities, reset the PRAM and did the other tests and it continues- wether i'm running the computer from the internal drive or an external firewire drive-
running the hardware test, i also got two error messages, but on some passes only
if i look into the RAM status through about this mac, it says it's ok - what's odd is that the hardware test found errors, but not systematically----- I'd really like to know what the error message mean, can anyone help ?
i'm getting more and more kernel panics, unfortunately i live in France, so things are slightly less simple than they would be in other places customer servicewise- ie it might not be as simple as showing up at the new apple stores with this 2007 machine--
I need a stable machine to work on and really can't afford repairs at the moment
i'm really stuck with this, my finances got sucked into the last HDD upgrade (got it done by an official apple retailer, ICLG here in Paris, cost me 300 euros), and I thought things would be stable for a while since the logic board was changed (free of charge, which was a great relief) less than a year ago due to the nvdia bug- and now here I am with this--
anyway, here's the last kernel panic report i got, thanks in advance for your help

i just replaced the hard drive on my macbook pro, reformatted new hard drive, installed a back up from time machine and now have kernel panic ( you must restart your computer) what do I need to do?

If you're able to boot, launch the Console application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ If you’re running Mac OS X 10.7 or later, open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Console in the page that opens.
Select the most recent panic log under System Diagnostic Reports. Post the contents – the text, please, not a screenshot. For privacy’s sake, I suggest you edit out the “Anonymous UUID,” a long string of letters, numbers, and dashes in the header and body of the report, if it’s present (it may not be.) Please don't post "shutdownStall" or "hang" reports.
If you can't boot in the usual way, try a safe boot. The instructions provided by Apple are as follows:
Be sure your Mac is shut down.
    Press the power button.
Immediately after you hear the startup tone, hold the Shift key. The Shift key should be held as soon as possible after the startup tone, but not before the tone.
Release the Shift key when you see the gray Apple icon and the progress indicator (looks like a spinning gear).
During startup, you’ll see a progress bar, and then the login screen, which appears even if you normally log in automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin.
Safe mode is slower than normal, and some things won’t work at all.

  • What is causing these bubbles in the screen?

I noticed a couple of bubbles appear in the screen on my iPhone 3g but they've multiplied and now there are five of them.
I use a leather case with flap to cover the screen, I daren't let it anywhere near moisture and I can't see how my use could cause bubbles. They are about a cm lower than the volume control on the left hand side or on the left hand side of the space bar when typing in landscape mode. They are there all the time but easier to see when the screen is all one colour or off.
Am I causing these bubbles? If so how and what can I do to stop the spread? I will be off my feet for another 4+ months so kinda rely on my iPhone for company.
I'm laid up at the minute and can't get to a computer but I'll upload a pic to flickr in ten minutes or so

Ok I've uploaded a picture of a picture of the bubbles (don't have the computer access while I'm laid up with broken foot at my mothers)
the pic is at www.flickr.com/photos/squareoftheyear I took the pic on my 400d then took a pic of the cameras screen with the iPhone and uploaded it using the flickr app available from the app store

  • What is causing these 2 things to happen in safari when I want to go back

sometimes when I am on a webpage and want to go back to the previous page the back button is not able to be clicked and at other times when I do click the back button safari instead of going back to previous page shows a dropdown menu of pages previously visited
What is causing thee 2 situations to occur at random times and how can I correct it so when I click back it goes back to the previous page and does not do anything else. Also why sometimes when I go from 1 page to another does the back button become grayed out so I can't click it?

    HI,
From the Safari Menu Bar, click Safari / Empty Cache. When you are done with that...
From the Safari Menu Bar, click Safari / Reset Safari. Select the top 5 buttons and click Reset.
    Relaunch Safari.
Command + R will reload a page in Safari. The Delete key will take you back a page.
    Carolyn
