  • What's the difference between transport route and transport layer

what's the difference between transport route and transport layer,Can somebody give me some explaination? thks in advance!

    Hi,
    Transport Layer in ABAP Workbench
The Change and Transport System supports the distribution of development
work on large projects across multiple SAP Systems.
The packages in each development system are grouped into one transport
        layer.
The transport layer determines whether objects are assigned to a local
        or transportable change request.
    Use
Each of your SAP development systems is assigned a transport layer as
its standard transport layer. If you use Extended Transport Control, you
can assign different standard transport layers to certain clients.
You can define at the most one consolidation target for each SAP System
    and transport layer.
When you create a package, it is assigned the standard transport layer
    of the SAP System.
If you want to assign a different transport layer to a package, you
require the administration authorization for the Change and Transport
    System.
The objects in a package automatically have the transport attributes
defined for the corresponding transport layer.
o   If a consolidation route originating in their SAP System is defined,
then the objects are assigned to a transportable request, and
transported into the consolidation target when it is released.
o   If a consolidation route is not defined, the objects are assigned to
a local request, and are not transported.
Customizing settings are not assigned to a package. They have the
transport attributes of the standard transport layer of the system or
    client.
It is best to assign a package a standard transport layer for which a
consolidation route originating in the development system is defined.
To display and maintain the transport layers and routes, use the
    Transport Management System (transaction STMS).
Only the system adminstrator can make changes.
    Caution:
The tables TSYST, DEVL, TWSYS, TASYS are no longer productive as of
Release 4.0A and cannot be maintained.

    Ben

    hi,
like -> used for refering existing data elements in data dictionary or in sap
type -> used for refering existing data types in sap.
types: used for creating used defined structure of tables which has fields from more tahn one table.
diff b/w types and type in creation of internal tables is that when u create a table with types then u can use same for work area creation also.
    ex:
    TYPES : BEGIN OF t_vbap,
    vbeln1 LIKE vbeln,
    posnr LIKE posnr,
    kwmeng LIKE kwmeng,
    netpr LIKE netpr,

    data: itab1 type t_vbap
            wa_itab1 type t_vbap.
when type is used then u have to create a defintion of work area for another time when internal table doesnt have headr line as
    ex:

  • What Is The Difference Between A Router Extender & A Bridge?

Since I was here, I just thought I'd ask what is the difference between a router extender like the RE 1000 and what is known as a bridge?  Does one work better than the other?  Is one better for one thing, like a wired DVD player, than the other?

The RE1000 can act as range extender as well as bridge where as the versatile Wireless Ethernet Bridge can make a wired Ethernet-enabled device a part of your wireless network.
If we talk abuot the functionality in the bridge mode, then in that case both will be same the only difference will be, WET610N will be getting DUAL frequency i.e. 2.4GHz and 5GHz from the wireless network if that is also a DUAL band.

  • What is difference between sy-tabix and sy-index.

    SAP Seniors,
Can you please let me know what is difference between sy-index and sy-tabix.
I read the SAP help, it is confusing for me. it looks like both are same from help. please help me.
    Thank you
    Anitha.

    HI,
Here is a brief description of difference between SY_TABIX and SY_INDEX and using them with several conditions.
    SY-TABIX
Current line of an internal table. SY-TABIX is set by the statements below, but only for index tables. The field is either not set or is set to 0 for hashed tables.
APPEND sets SY-TABIX to the index of the last line of the table, that is, it contains the overall number of entries in the table.
COLLECT sets SY-TABIX to the index of the existing or inserted line in the table. If the table has the type HASHED TABLE, SY-TABIX is set to 0.
LOOP AT sets SY-TABIX to the index of the current line at the beginning of each loop lass. At the end of the loop, SY-TABIX is reset to the value that it had before entering the loop. It is set to 0 if the table has the type HASHED TABLE.
READ TABLE sets SY-TABIX to the index of the table line read. If you use a binary search, and the system does not find a line, SY-TABIX contains the total number of lines, or one more than the total number of lines. SY-INDEX is undefined if a linear search fails to return an entry.
SEARCH <itab> FOR sets SY-TABIX to the index of the table line in which the search string is found.
    SY-INDEX
In a DO or WHILE loop, SY-INDEX contains the number of loop passes including the current pass.
    Hope this helps.
    Thank you,
    Pavan.

  • What is difference between bex analyser and bex browser

what is difference between bex analyser and bex browser . please explain what are use of both and what we do in both.

    hi
    Bex Browser
The Business Explorer Browser (BEx Browser) makes it possible for you to access all document types of the Business Information Warehouse that are assigned to your role or that you have stored in your favorites. You can select and open documents assigned to you in the BEx Browser or store and manage new documents in the BEx Browser.
Document types that you can work with in the BEx Browser are:
    · BW workbooks
    · Documents that are stored in the Business Document Service (BDS)
    · Links (references to file system, shortcuts)
    · Links to internet sites (URLs)
    · SAP transaction calls.
    · Web applications and Web templates
    · Crystal Reports
    Bex Analyser
The Business Explorer Analyzer (BEx Analyzer) is the analysis and reporting tool of the Business Explorer that is embedded in Microsoft Excel.
    Features
You can call up the BEx Query Designer in the BEx Analyzer, in order to define queries. Subsequently, you can analyze the selected InfoProvider data by navigation to the query created in the Query Designer and create different query views of the data. You can add the different query views for a query or for different queries to a work book and save them there. You can save the workbook in your favorites or in your role on the BW Server. You can also save the workbook locally on your computer.
Beyond that, you can precalculate the workbook and distribute it by e-mail to recipeients or you can export it to the Enterprise Portal and make it accessible to other employees in the company.
You can start queries in a standard view (with a Standard Web Template set up in Customizing) in the Web browser and forward the URL or continue to navigate on the Web. Similarly, you can export the Web query to MS Excel 2000.
Overview of the Functional Area of the BEx Analyzer:
    ·        BEx toolbar
You access the functions of the BEx Analyzer from the BEx toolbar, which takes you to the BEx Open dialog box where you can open existing queries, or to the BEx Query Designer where you can create new queries or change existing queries.
    ·        Evaluating Query Data
The BEx Analyzer offers convenient functions for evaluating and presenting InfoProvider data interactively. In the BEx Analyzer, you can add queries to workbooks, navigate within them and refresh the data. You can also process the queries further in Microsoft Excel or display them in the Web browser in a default view.
Navigation of a query allows you, for example, to filter characteristics on a single value, drilldown on all values for a characteristic, regroup characteristics and key figures in the rows and columns of the results area, or hide key figures. Navigation results in different views of the InfoProvider data. In addition, a range of further functions is available which allow you to edit a query interactively (for example, sorting, cumulated output, among others). In addition, you can use the editing functions in Microsoft Excel in order to set up individual format templates, to print results areas, or to create graphics.
    ·        Queries in Workbooks
Queries are inserted into workbooks so you can display them. When you insert a query, a link is made between the cell areas of the worksheet and the data of the InfoProvider upon which the query is based. A link therefore exists between the Business Explorer and the Business Information Warehouse Server (BW Server).
When inserting a query into the workbook, a VBA routine is automatically generated in the workbook. You can also connect the Business Explorer with your own VBA programs (Visual Basic for Applications).
You can create workbook templates, into which you can insert your queries. Workbook templates can contain pre-determined items for the area of the query, formatting settings, logos, VBA macros, and so on.
    ·        Precalculating workbooks
You can precalculate and distribute workbooks with the BEx Broadcaster, which is a Web application you get to form the BEx toolbar. The system generates MS Excel workbooks with historical data. You determine the time for precalculation yourself: You can have workbooks precalculated at a predefined time or they can be precalculated whenever data in the underlying InfoProvider changes. You can have the precalculated workbooks sent by e-mail or you can export them into the Enterprise Portal, where you can make them available to employees within your company.
    Activities
To start the BEx Analyzer, choose Start ® Programs ® SAP Front-end Business Information Warehouse ® SAP Business Explorer Analyzer.
You can also access the BEx Analyzer via SAP Easy Access ® SAP Business Information Warehouse ® SAP Menu ® Business Explorer ® Analyzer or in the Business Explorer Browser using the Business Explorer Analyzer symbol in the menu bar.
Hope this will solve your issu

  • What the difference and use between   of  TABLES and SY-REPID?

    Hi,
    Experts,
I have came accross 2 cases that i can't able understand
    EX1:
    TABLES: VBAP   -
    >( Here also Appplication Server(AS) creates Wrokarea of Structure VBAP but, by
data: v_vbeln like vbap-vbeln.    double clicking on variable v_vbeln AS taking me to DDIC VBAP table VBELN field then what the using declaring tables. )
    ( and )
DATA: VBAP TYPE VBAP -->( Here also Appplication Server(AS) creates Wrokarea of Structure VBAP data: v_vbeln like vbap-vbeln.    but, double clicking on variable v_vbeln AS taking me to user declared VBAP
i.e., above DATA declaration statement )
Then Which one is better in Functionality wise as well as Performance wise or when we have to go for TABLES and when we have to go for DATA declaration of DDIC objects.
    EX2:
    what the difference between
I know that SY_REPID is not a system variable. And also that
Data: vrepid type SY_REPID.--> Predefined data type in ABAP
    and
Data: vrepid like SY_REPID.-> Predefined Constatnt in ABAP( it is a constant it allowing with out VALUE
    attribute)
what difference between them and when we have to go Data: vrepid type SY_REPID and when we have to go Data: vrepid like SY_REPID.
    Thank U,
    Shabeer Ahmed.

    Hi Ahmed,
    TABLES:
      VBAP.   " DDIC
    DATA:
      v_vbeln like vbap-vbeln.
*Here you are using the DDIC VBAP
    DATA:
      VBAP TYPE VBAP.
    DATA:
      vbeln like vbap-vbeln.
*Here you are using the local data object as your data type so it will always
    * take you to user declared VBAP which is declared by you.
    DATA:
      T_VBAP TYPE VBAP.
    DATA:
      vbeln like vbap-vbeln.
    * here its using T_VBAP not DDIC VBAP
And for performance always the second option is better, use Data instead of tables, declare your own local structure.
    Data:
vrepid type SY_REPID.  thereis nop redefined data type in ABAP as SY_REPID
    * its SY-REPID which is a system variable.
    Data:
      vrepid type SY-REPID.

  • What is difference between SAP R3 And SAP IS Mills Product

    HI Friends
What is difference between SAP R3 And SAP IS Mills Product
What are the futures are availables in IS MIlls
    Regards

    Hi,
SAP R/3 is the central enterprise version. It is not specifically designed for any inducstry sectors and it can cater many of the industry types.
Is is developed for specific industries an for SMB's (small and medium business). It will have components specifically for the industry.
The SAP Mill Products component adds sector-specific functionality to an ERP system to satisfy the complex requirements of mill industries (e.g. metal, wood, paper, textiles, construction materials, and cable sectors).
These industry segments differ from others primarily in that the materials used have a large number of characteristics and variants. The materials in the segments listed above are also predominantly area-based (e.g. paper, textiles, plastic film) or length-based (e.g. cables, piping). Account must be taken of these material characteristics throughout the entire supply chain.
To cater for the particularities of these industry segments, SAP Mill Products features processes and functions that cover the entire supply-chain cycle – from product design and configuration, through planning, order processing, capacity planning and production, to final delivery. Additional functions are available in costing and inventory management. SAP Mill Products are also integrated into Quality Management, Financial Accounting, and Controlling.

  • What is difference between hostd, Vpxa and vpxd.

what is difference between hostd, Vpxa and vpxd. whats there purpose in esx

    Hi....
VPXD-It is Vcenter Server Service. If this service is stopped then we will not able to connect to Vcenter Server via Vsphere client.
VPXA-It is the agent of Vcenter server. also known as mini vcenter server which is installed on the each esx server which is managed by Vcenter server. What are the management action we are performing on top of the vcenter server. (Like:- Increasing/Decreasing RAM & HDD, Making any type of changes in cluster,
doing vmotion. This agent collects all information from the vcenter server and pass this information to the kernal of the esx server.
HOSTD- This is the agent of ESX server, here VPXA pass the information to the HOSTD and hostd pass the information to ESX server.
Hope this one give you clear explanation about the difference in between each of them.

  • What is difference between Shared ,Exclusive and Exclusive but not commulat

what is difference between Shared ,Exclusive and Exclusive but not commulative lock modes plese tell me

Lock objects are used to synchronize access to the same data by more than one program.
The lock mode controls whether several users can access data records at the same time. The lock mode can be assigned separately for each table in the lock object. When the lock is set, the corresponding lock entry is stored in the lock table of the system for each table.
There are three types of lock modes
    1.Exclusive
    2.Shared
    3.Exclusive not cummulative
Exclusive lock: The locked data can only be displayed or edited by a single user. A request for another exclusive lock or for a shared lock is rejected.
Shared lock: More than one user can access the locked data at the same time in display mode. A request for another shared lock is accepted, even if it comes from another user. An exclusive lock is rejected.
Exclusive but not cumulative: Exclusive locks can be requested several times from the same transaction and are processed successively. In contrast, exclusive but not cumulative locks can be called only once from the same transaction. All other lock requests are rejected.

    briefly :
You can lock the table or record by using following types of locking:
    1) Exclusive (E) the locked data can only be displayed or modified by single user i.e the owner of the object. Access to other users is denied.
    2) Shared (S) several users can access the same record simultaneously, but only in display mode and except the first one, who has asked for the data in update mode.
    3) Exclusive not cumulating (X) it is similar to exclusive lock. It allows only a single user access. E can be called several times from the same transaction. In contrast, a lock type X can be called only once during the transaction. Any other call for this lock is rejected.
    Activation of Lock Object
    1) When you activate the lock object, the functions are automatically generated. And these are ENQUEUE-EZN and DEQUEUE-EZN. EZN is name of the lock object.
    2) While ENQUEUE is used in program to set the code over the selected data depending upon the lock object arguments. DEQUEUE is used to release the lock.

  • What is difference between transport protocol and message protocol

what is difference between transport protocol and message protocol
please give definition and small explanation

    Hi,
Transport protocol gives information about outside of message details, kind of system, security details.
A transport protocol is a network protocol that has the capability of transferring some payload from one node to another, thus providing some level of transparency from the underlying network.
Transport protocols are used as a mechanism to move payloads around a network. Typically, a payload will have a transport binding associated with it. For example, SOAP (acting as a payload) has a predetermined binding for HTTP (a transport protocol).
Some common transport protocols include: HTTP, HTTP-R, SMTP and BEEP.
Message protocol gives you an idea of message type XI payload

Short of trying to then reverse-engineer the objects that are in the dump file (I believe Data Pump export files contain some XML representations of DDL in addition to various binary bits, making it potentially possible to try to scan the dump file for the object definitions), I would tend to assume that the export didn't include those type definitions.
Since it looks like you're trying to set up the sample schemas, is there a reason that you wouldn't just run the sample schema setup scripts on the destination database? Why are you using Data Pump in the first place?

  • What are the types of routines

    hi experts
can some one give me clear idea on what are the types of routine we use in sap bi
    with scenarios?
    what is CMC?
Please search the forum before posting a thread
Edited by: Pravender on Apr 7, 2011 12:56 PM

    Hi,
In BI 7.0 we have the following types of routines.
    1. Start Routine.
    2. End Routine.
    3. Expert Routine.
This routines can be used in the complex scenarios and to improve the performance of the loading time.
I am elaborating the routine in details here.
    1. Start Routine : whenever you create a start routine, the system will automatically give you some predefined data declaration like structure of the type of your source. In start routine you can declare a local data declaration and Global data declaration also. I will give one example.
Suppose you are creating Start routine for transformation from Datasource to DSO. Then when you create start routine the System will provide you a structure of your datasource. By using this structure it will also define an internal table which will be used as changing parameter of a method of a class. It is this changing parameter where you have to do all sorts of manipulation. The changing parameter is both export as well as import parameter. This changing parameter will contain data in the package wise.
In start routine you can also read some database table and store that data into an internal table and this internal table data can then be read in the field level routine. In this case it acts as a substitute of master data look up in the field level transformation.
    2. End routine : The end routine is also same as start routine, the only difference is that here the system will provide you with a structure of the target not the source. and rest is all same as start routine.
    3. Expert routine : This is the strongest and most complex of all routines. This allows you to design the entire data flow of the transformation. If you create an Expert routine the system will automatically delete all the field level mapping, Start routine and end routine. You also have to take care of the error handling and monitoring

  • What is Message Type & IDOC Type?

    He Experts!,
What is Message Type & IDOC Type? What is the difference between them?
    Thanks in advance.
    Sekhar

    Hi,
    Please try these transaction codes.
WE82 - Message Type and IDoc Type
WE64 - Process Codes (Inbound and Outbound) for Message Type.
Message type. A message type represents the application message exchanged between R/3 systems and R/3 and an external system. A message type characterizes the data sent across systems and relates to the structure of the data called an IDOC type (see below). For example, MATMAS is a message type for Material Master, and INVOIC is a message type for an Invoice (Billing Document). ALE supports over 200 message types in R/3 and about 200 application areas.
IDOC type and IDOC. An Intermediate Document (IDOC) type represents the structure of the data associated with a message type (DEBMAS02 for message type DEBMAS — Customer Master, and WMMBID02 for message type WMMBXY— Goods Movements), while an IDOC is an object containing the data of a particular message type. IDOCs are data containers with intelligence built in. Each IDOC contains one and only one business object. For example, an IDOC of type SHPMNT01, message type SHPMNT, will contain data only of one Shipment Document. Generally, the architecture of an IDOC is independent of the message type by virtue of ALE’s ability to redefine it for any message type.
Use transaction BD64 or the following menu path to maintain the model: From the IMG (Implementation Guide), Cross-Application Components -> Distribution (ALE) (*) -> Distribution Customer Model -> Maintain Distribution Customer Model Directly -> Maintain Distribution Customer Model Directly.

  • Differences between rate routing and reference rate routings?

    Hello PP members:
I would like to differences between rate routing and reference rate routings
    Thanks for your time,
    Thanks Again,
    Suren R

    Hi Mr.Suren,
As explained by other friends Routing is used in Discrete manufacturing and Rate routing is used for REM-Repetitive manufacturing.
In addional to these types SAP has given 2 more types
1.Reference operation set -Used in Discrete manufacturing.
2.Reference rate routing - Used in REM.
If similar rate routing is been used for producing many materials, then instead of entering(these steps) in rate routing of each  material you create a refrence rate routing and you enter the work centres used and the other details. After saving you get a group counter number showing reference rate routing is saved with group XXXXXXXXX.
When you are creating rate routing for a material say A ,after giving the name and plant details in the top you will be able to see an icon "copy from" and you can select the radio button for reference rate routing and give the group counter number. or else without giving it here you have got an option to select the reference rate routing after entering into the operation screen also.
In that particular page in operation overview screen, there will be an icon copy, there you can click that icon and you can give the reference rate routing group counter number and very easily you can create rate routing for N number of material.
Likewise you can use reference operation set while creating routing for a material in Discrete manufacturing. This basically reduces the time in creating routing or rate routing for materials in Discrete & REM respectively
    CA01,CA02,CA03-Create,Change,display (routing)  respectively.
    CA11,CA12,CA13-Create,Change,Display reference operation set Respectively.
    CA21,CA22,CA23-Create,Change,Display rate routing respectively.
    CA31,CA32,CA33-create,change,display reference rate routing resp.
I hope this will help you.
    If useful reward your points.
    Thanks & regards
    Karthik.
