  • What is the best way to write management pack modules?

i have written many modules using powershell script but when i deploy that management pack on SCOM it is throwing so many errors saying powershell script has dropped due to timeout.
My Mp has lot of powershell script which gets the data from the service which executes for each and every instance the mp certainly has around 265 Instances and the powershell have to execute for each and every instance.
how can i improve the scripts?
do i need to use someother scripting language like javascript or VBScript in the management pack to execute different modules.
what is the best practice to write Modules
i have useed even the cookdown for multi instance data gathering
    Thanks & Regards, Suresh Gaddam

One thing you have not mentioned is how you are consuming the data after you save it.  Your solution should be compatible with whatever software you are using at both ends.
Your data rate (40kS/s) is relatively slow.  You can achieve it using just about any format from ASCII, to raw binary and TDMS, provided you keep your file open and close operations out of the write loop.  I would recommend a producer/consumer architecture to decouple the data collection from the data writing.  This may not be necessary at the low rates you are using, but it is good practice and would enable you to scale to hardware limited speeds.
TDMS was designed for logging and is a safe format (<fullDisclosure> I am a National Instruments employee </fullDisclosure> ).  If you are worried about power failures, you should flush it after every write operation, since TDMS can buffer data and write it in larger chunks to give better performance and smaller file sizes.  This will make it slower, but should not be an issue at your write speeds.  Make sure you read up on the use of TDMS and how and when it buffers data so you can make sure your implementation does what you would like it to do.

  • What is the best IDE tool?

    Hi Everyone,
I'd like to develop a web application using EJB(Enterprise JavaBean) and JSP scripts. What is the best tool for IDE and debugging tool, etc.
Could you suggest one of the best currently available? I don't mind the cost much.
    Thanks for your suggestion.
    Lioba Park

Best is a subjective term, however I can recommend JBuilder as an IDE to do just what you want.
It comes complete with Tomcat and Borlands Enterprise Server. It supports other Web Servers and J2EE servers either natively or by using plug ins.
Everything is nicely intergrated which means that you can do everything in the IDE.

  • What is the best way to write 10 channels of data each sampled at 4kHz to file?

    Hi everyone,
I have developed a vi with about 8 AI channels and 2 AO channels... The vi uses a number of parallel while loops to acquire, process, and display continous data.. All data are read at 400 points per loop interation and all synchronously sampled at 4kHz...
My questions is: Which is the best way of writing the data to file? The "Write Measurement To File.vi" or low-level "open/create file" and "close file" functions? From my understanding there are limitations with both approaches, which I have outlines below..
The "Write Measurement To File.vi" is simple to use and closes the file after each interation so if the program crashes not all data would necessary be lost; however, the fact it closes and opens the file after each iteration consumes the processor and takes time... This may cause lags or data to be lost, which I absolutely do not want..
The low-level "open/create file" and "close file" functions involves a bit more coding, but does not require the file to be closed/opened after each iteration; so processor consumption is reduced and associated lag due to continuous open/close operations will not occur.. However, if the program crashes while data is being acquired ALL data in the buffer yet to be written will be lost... This is risky to me...
Does anyone have any comments or suggestions about which way I should go?... At the end of the day, I want to be able to start/stop the write to file process within a running while loop... To do this can the opn/create file and close file functions even be used (as they will need to be inside a while loop)?
I think I am ok with the coding... Just the some help to clarify which direction I should go and the pros and cons for each...
    Regards,
    Jack

  • What is the best way to learn Java??????

I am trying to learn java for a few weeks now.
But I am struggling to find out what the possibilities in java are.
With e.g. Visual Basic you have help topics to guide eyou through the language and all the objects, functions etc you can use.
Now while learning java I miss the help topics. I do hava all the API documentation, but how will I know which class to use?? I also have the tutorials, but they are more about the syntax of java.
Can somebody give me some pointers on what the best approach is for learning java. I also would like to know what is a good texteditor to build the applications.
    greetings maclli

Here's some links that should get you started. I use them a lot:
    API Reference: http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.4.1/docs/api/index.html
    Language Specs: http://java.sun.com/docs/books/jls/second_edition/html/j.title.doc.html
    Official Tutorial: http://java.sun.com/docs/books/tutorial/index.html
Sorry I can't recommend any good books, though. The tutorial has a lot of good information in it, and the API reference is indispensable.
    Good luck,
    Jason

  • What is the best blu-ray writer to pair with a new iMac?

I am buying a new 27" iMac and want to be able to use and write Blu Ray discs.  Can anyone tell me which are the best Mac-compatible Blu Ray Writers on the market?  Also does it make any difference if the Writer is USB 3 or 2?

That is too broad. We aren't printer experts but I have my laser printers, a couple ink jets, an all in one scanner-fax-printer.
What you want to know is will it do what you need, how much it costs may be secondary (does it spend ink like it is water?) More important, support, do you need wifi printing from desktop and phone and tablet maybe.
    How much you print.
I have one old laser that is better than any newer printer when it comes to doing envelopes. The all in one is the worst.
You can definitely find some in the $50-75 and might want to browse the reviews on printer oriented forum sites, check out the feedback reviews on Amazon.
I avoid HP because they have had their driver issues. I wasn't impressed by Epson but it is a good brand. I have bought Canon cameras, scanners, printers, and never been disappointed though.

  • What is the best way to learn Java? I am a complete spacker?

    Hi,
Please can someone point me in the right direction on how to learn java properly, I was just browsing the Sun website and came across; [http://uk.sun.com/training/catalog/java/packages_java.html?gclid=CO2-6YrWu5kCFUsI3wodZ1qI5g]
Who are these packages aimed at? I was looking at the top one; Entry Level; Sun Certified Java Associate.
    Thanks.

    I am a complete spacker.
Please can someone point me in the right direction on how to learn javaWith an admission like that, what makes you think that anyone would want to "point you in the right direction", so that you might, one day, if things go to plan, be the "spacker" (as you so eloquently put it) sitting next them, asking gumby questions all day, spounging ideas, and doubtless claiming much more than your fair share of the credit, and the donuts.
Yep, I'm fixated on the donuts. They're very nice ;-)
    Now... what where you saying?
I was just browsing the Sun website and came across; [the training catalog|http://uk.sun.com/training/catalog/java/packages_java.html?gclid=CO2-6YrWu5kCFUsI3wodZ1qI5g] and was looking at: Entry Level; Sun Certified Java Associate.
Yep that'd be the one to aim for when you're starting out... Personally, I recommend you give the whole certification thing a miss (at least for now) and just get into the tutorials, and grab some books (there are some really excellent ones) and just write some programs... at least until such time as you feel confident enough in your chosen field of endevour to not even consider intruducing yourself as "Hi, I'm a complete spacker"... I'll bet you're a real hit in job interviews. Good grief!
    Cheers. Keith.

yeah, it was all right. I used it to learn java and it was much better then notepad and the command line. however, the version I had did not have autocompletion and so on.
actually, can anyone recommend a good edition for jsp? I am now using jbuilder, but I think it is not that great for JSP.

  • What's the Best Way to Learn Java for Use in LiveCycle?

Clearly knowing Java scripting would be a boon for flexibility, but I know nothing of Java. Is there an easy dummies manual for using it with LiveCycle?
I have been relying alot on FormCalc to get things done so far.
    Thanks.

A very small note. You may see this as being picky, but I hope it will
help you find the infomation you seek more accurately.
You are not using Java. Java is a different language - so Googling for
Java information will just leave you lost. You are using a language
called JavaScript, always named in full.
Now, the really confusing thing is that JavaScript in a browser,
JavaScript in Acrobat and JavaScript in LiveCycle Designer (again,
sorry, note the full name: there are many other LiveCycle products)
    are all different.
A key thing is to have the JavaScript Reference. This is not good for
learning from but it's like having a dictionary: you can't learn a
language from it, but you will always need to look things up. This
forum can help send you in the right direction into the documentation.

  • What is the best IDE for JSF

    Hi,
We are about to start a new project using Technologies like Spring and JSF. I am looking for some IDE which provide us Drag and Drop support for JSF components.
Moreover, the IDE is plugable with third party JSF components. So that all those component are available at Design Time.
Till now, i am thinking for Sun Creator, but i am looking for suggestions.

    Hi Ali,
I would suggest you go with NetBeans IDE 5.5 and using Visual Web. If you want to use Spring Framework, you can also do that because plugin for spring framework is available too.
I've recently created my project which was using EJBs and I found NetBeans a single IDE to develop complete enterprise application.

But for serious math publications I think LaTeX is often used.
