What is the best way to build an app?

what is the best way to build an app?

I've never done it, but sure, all sorts of companies will contract to code up an application for you - big companies like Honeywell and General Dynamics to Joe Programmer free-lancing out of his house will contract for computer coding projects.  Without knowing details of the app to be developed I have no idea what it would cost or how long it would take.  Some of the free-lance programmers I personally know bill out at over (some, well over) $100/hour.
If you really think your idea is great, then be sure to approach discussing it with a developer as a business transaction.  Almost every company will have an unsolicted ideas policy in place (Apple explicitly does under their legal information page) and any unsolicited ideas sent in become the intellectual property of the company (by sending the idea unsolicited, you have legally "given" it to them).
P.S. as to how long to learn how to program well?  Some people spend an entire college degree's worth of time and effort to master that.

    What is the BEST way to delete an app on an iPhone 4S so it will NOT be added back when I sync with iTunes?

    To completely remove an app and all of its data, do this: First delete the app on your phone, then in iTunes, under Library, click on Apps, right-click the app you want to delete & select delete, when prompted, move all files to trash, empty your trash. Connect your phone and sync. The app and all of its data will be gone.

  • What is the best way to build a news system?

    Hi everyone,
    I am building a website using webcenter and I need to do a section called "News". The Editor user is going to put on this section some news about the company.
    The doubt is: What is the best way to do is? There is a way to integrate the webcenter with Content Server and store the news as a content on it? Or the best thing to do is treat each news as a page (by using the task flow - Page create new)?
    Thanks
    Daniel

    Hi Daniel,
    I'm not shure if that is the best way, but we're using the Page Service Task Flow and scope.
    If you want to use Oracle Content Server(ucm) probably your user must create a doc(news) and upload it by using something like the Library Task Flow.

  • What's the best way for a web app to handle logins and sessions?

    I'm deploying in JBoss, using JSF. As is often the case, I keep User information in an entity bean. My question is, what's the best way to handle this bean?
    My inclination is to create a login page with a LoginBackingBean atached to it. When the user attempts to log in, it will see if there is a User entity bean that corresponds to the given name and password. If there is no User bean that matches, obviously we show an informative error screen.
    But what happens if there is a valid user?
    In the plain old Servlet world (without EJB / J2EE) I would just put the User object (it's an object, not an EJB) into the HttpSession, and I would create a Filter that would check for the presence of that User object, and I would map the filter to something like /members/*, and that would be it. I would use Hibernate to persist the User object, and there would also be a filter that creates a Hibernate session and stores it in the Request so that the User object would work and persist.
    How do I do this within the J2EE / EJB world?
    My first thought would be to just do the same thing. Install the User bean into the HttpSession, and create a filter and do all the same stuff. Is that the right way to do it? It would work pretty well with JSF because I could just access things in the normal JSF way: #{user.firstName} would find the "user" object in the HttpSession scope. So that's good.
    One question that comes up from that is if the user makes some change to the User object that is in the Session scope, will the EJB automatically do the right thing and make those changes persistent? Is there anything else I need to do?
    I'm new to the EJB world, but from what I can see so far, it seems like it's the best way to think about a web application.
    Thanks

    hi ,
    i think the best way is to create java beans ,in that bean call your EJB ,
    and check the validation over there.
    and make that bean scope to session.
    in each and everypage try to check the session ,if it is not valid then forward to your login page...
    otherwise continue to give access to him like guest

  • What is the best way to build a career path where I can evolve into an SAP role instead of one that is Customer Service based?

    In October 2011, my previous employer converted to SAP, as the rest of the worldwide entities were already using SAP. At that time, I was an Order Coordinator, where my job role was to process all of the Inside/Outside Sales Representatives orders for the US. Because of my keen attention to detail, the speed in which I learn new roles and general IT knowledge, I was asked to be the SAP SuperUser for our Financial Operations team. I quickly began to learn the roles of Order-to-Cash, Customer Master Data, Pricing Conditions, Contracts, some Material Master Data, and even Customer/Material Pricing Audits. I also performed manual customer billing in SAP until the automatic modules were implemented. Knowledge of these roles created a need for me to become a trainer to my team, where the SAP Consultants left off. After only working in SAP for the few months after the conversion started, I evolved out of an Order Coordinator rights of access and was given a not-so-typical role as an "analyst". I had more than a firefighter role in SAP, as my normal log in credentials gave me full rights to all of these modules and even special reporting. Our parent global company realized necessity for my role and followed proper protocol to authorize the access changes to still meet the SOx regulations. Prior to using SAP, I never thought I'd fall in love with it and enjoy my job so much, but it happened! Despite my previous employer's less than perfect data that was copied into SAP, we managed to have an efficient ongoing process to clean it all up.  I became more of a liaison between Financial Operations and our IT Dept/SAP Consultants. I "translated" the technical steps that IT/SAP Consultants were trying to teach everyone and trained my Financial Operations team in a way they would understand. I truly enjoyed my job, even at our most difficult moments.
    However, after all of the fun I was having while working in SAP and truly gaining a ton of useful experience and knowledge, "life" happened and I had an opportunity to move from Atlanta, GA to southern California. I've searched for months to find a new career here in California with a company that I could continue my learning experiences and become more proficient in SAP, but I'm a little lost. My search to find jobs have only given me possibilities in Customer Service positions or ones that are SAP sales/programming based. I'm floating in limbo and looking for help from the SAP community on where I can go from here to get back into a career path with SAP.
    I'm 28 years old and I'm currently finishing my Associate degree in Business Administration. I'm a Microsoft Certified Professional (MCP), certified with the Help-Desk Institute as a Support Center Analyst, and also completed my previous employer's Quality Advocate Certification which focused on Six Sigma and Lean concepts. Prior to leaving the company, I was being considered for a company sponsored training in the Six Sigma Green or Black Belt program. I've recently started working a contract position as a Customer Service Rep, processing orders, but the company will be completing an SAP conversion in May 2013; so only a few months away. The problem I have in this position is that I feel frustrated in learning their current software when their entire team seems to have their own personal ways of doing their job. I prefer to have structure and perform job duties the right way, then building on that to make the job more streamlined. I spoke with my recruiter but he feels I may be a bit premature on feelings about working in this contract position. I may be just feeling a little impatient in having to wait another 3 months to see if the company may even hire me on permanently and what role I would have with SAP, beyond Customer Service Rep. I'm hoping to get some direction from the SAP community on where I might focus my attention in learning SAP. My hope is to find a position working with SAP like the one I enjoyed so much back in GA. I'm even considering options to learn the programming side. I think SAP is a great software package once people understand how it's designed, or can be designed, to work.
    Please help!!
    I'd be happy to provide my resume to anyone willing to review it and give me some pointers. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

    I appreciate the length and detail of your post. I struggle answering questions from folks who give too little info. It's refreshing to have too much info for a change.
    I'll summarize your post and give suggestions:
    You have very strong end user experience, almost bordering on support level SD knowledge. You have experience with the way that at least one company implemented SAP SD but don't have many years of experience with different approaches, so you can't pitch yourself as someone who's "been-there, done-that" outside of the SD world and you can't bill yourself as having SD functional knowledge to the extend that you could be a consultant for SAP SD.  (See FAQ: Different Career Paths in SAP for descriptions of different traditional SAP career paths.)
    You've moved to Southern California, which is chock full of companies using SAP, by the way, and you're having a hard time finding the right job. Your education is probably going to be problematic at this point. Most SAP related jobs require a Bachelor's Degree at a minimum. Definitely keep on going with your degree. I don't know where you're doing your associate's degree, but you might want to look in to Cal State Fullerton, which has an *excellent* SAP focused business degree program. (http://business.fullerton.edu/).
    You've found work at a company but had to start over at a lower level of responsibility. Since the job you just landed will be transitioning to SAP in 3 months, you have an opportunity to repeat your previous rise by volunteering to be a super-user again. Alternatively, you could talk to the group within your company and express your desire to help out supporting the system from the back end. Traditionally, companies lose a few folks immediately following an implementation, so there's a good chance that if you make your desires and skills known, that you'll be able to move onto the support team once a position opens up.
    All of the above assumes that you want to continue on the functional side of SD. You didn't mention any aptitude or preference for programming. It is certainly easier to get programming jobs than functional jobs (see How did you get your start in SAP?), but it seems like you really enjoyed the functional side of SAP. I do *not* recommend learning an SAP skill for which you have no desire simply to get a job, hoping that you can switch later. Use the skills you have to get the job you really want, doing something that really excites you. It's far to easy to fall into a job simply because it's there and get trapped and burned out.
    Hope this helps!
    Best regards,

  • What is the best way to build DC

    Hello Friends,
    This is a question for discussion.
    There are 2 ways we can build and deploy DCs.
    I. According to SAP documentation DC build
             1.Switch to the Java DC Explorer view.
             2.In the context menu of your DC, choose Development Component  ®  Build...
             3.In the dialog that appears, select your project node.
             4.Choose OK.
    II. Deploy new archive and run. Which is also in SAP Documentation for building a project.
    Search for "[Building, Deploying, and Running the Project|http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw70/helpdata/EN/f1/91fb3fc781ef28e10000000a1550b0/frameset.htm]" in SAP help.
    Is there any specific draw back in second method? if yes do we have any supporting documentation from SAP.
    Thanks
    Shobhan

    H Shoban,
    I am not sure if there is any document on this. But following is my observation on this on both the options of building and deploying WebDynpro  projects.
    Option 1: As far as I know this option is provided when you have DC project. This approach includes  dependent objects and other dependent DC given in DC metadata during build.
    Advantage: Consistent result and most of the time error are cleared which are introduced due to incorrect and inconsistent public parts dependency(DC Metadata).
    Issue: Might take more time/resource as it needs to check and consider all the public parts from dependent DC's (This can be clearly seen in cases where there and many DC dependency)
    Option 2: This approach is based on building dynpro  eclipse project. It does not takes into account DC meta data. It starts with an assumption dependent object (jars and project reference) are in place ( this is were it could be issue)
    Advantage: Might be fast as it does not consider DC metadata.
    Issue: Inconsistency in DC metadata and dependency are not detected.
    Summary: Difference is because of compilation of DC metadata. if you are modifying single DC and dependency are simple then option 2 can be used. but when multiple project are modified simultaneously which have interdependency, then option 1 is to be used to get consistent results.

  • What's the best way to build myself a custom arch installation cd ?

    it should have xorg, window manager and some other programs that i use . Coould it also be both live cd and install cd or just an install cd. Also is it possible to make it installable in the easiest possible way even by say windows user by doing next, next...? That degree of customization i need. Is it possible?

    Perhaps download CTKArchlive which is arch-based, uses openbox, pacmanfm...customize to your liking.
    It is ~500mb of download and can be cd or flash.
    It is normally in French but english is provided in the latest 0.6 versions i686 or 64 bit.
    Easy to try out and can be modified at your leisure with addons.
    Includes copy to ram and persistent home features.
    A fine "live" system...
    I have added feh mirage,kdenlive, vlc and hp printer to my 64bit CTKArchlive system.
    It is fast...mine loads to ram in 23 seconds.  Normal boot is 13 seconds.
    Give it a go............

  • What is the best way to set up App syncs?

    I upgraded itunes to 8.2 today (I think I was on 8 previously). I plugged in my ipod touch and hey presto it starts syncing and giving me lots of messages about deleting applications on my itouch.
    Why on earth would it do that without warning me?!!! Arrrhhh
    I got no warning at all
    So basically my ipod touch has gone back a couple of months and is showing applications I deleted ages ago and apps I installed more recently have gone.
    What itunes setting should I have been using to stop this from happening?
    Is there any way of finding out what my full application list and configuration was (I had a full 9 pages worth of apps) before it decided to take this back in time?
    Thanks in advance from a frustrated touch user

  • What is the best way to migrate settings/apps/files from late 2008 MBP to new 2012 MBA?

    I have the 2008 MBP backed up via TM to an external HD that is FW800, but is USB 2.0 capable.  I was hoping the TB/FW adapter would come out from Apple soon, and maybe it will.  Bottom line, my new MBA arrives next week, and I'm not sure when the TB/FW adapter will hit the stores.  Can I use USB 2.0 to link the HD to my new MBA or will it be too slow to conduct the migration?  I have about 110GB on the MBP HD and the new MBA is the i7/8G/256GB model. so no worries there.

    The firewire adapter is due for release in "July"  according to the specs.  You can make due with your TM backup on USB 2.0.   It's slower than firewire but should complete within 2 hours.

  • I would like to use one library but with multiple ipods, but because they are my kids Ipods, and they each have their own gift cards, I'd like to be able to add money to their "profiles" without them having their own account - what is the best way

    So here is my delima - I want one Ipod account - because I only want one library - since we all like the same music - but my kids, who have their own IPODS, have gift cards, who want to be able to keep track of their balance without the other child affecting the balance - meaning - each gift card should be seperate and not totalled to the single account - Beacuse the library is fairly large, having three libraries of large amounts would be a waste.  I would also like to restrict their purchased to the gift cards only and not my credit card on file.  Does this make sense?  Once this is resolved, I'm assuming they would use their own playlists to copy their favorites to each Ipod.  Or would I set up an account for each child - which I dont want to do, because I dont want them having access to my Credit Card, and only gift card balances.  With multiple accounts, I'm assuming that would also build seperate libraries?  We also have multiple computers, but I share the library to those computers -
    What is the best way?  I'd like to be able to add credit to a specific child (birthdays, etc) without the other child being able to access that credit.  For simplicity sake.
    We are new to IPODS and lack any MAC skills.
    Thoughts?

    Not going to happen the way you want it to.
    When you add a gift card balance to the Apple ID, it's available for the Apple ID.
    Probably best to create unique Apple ID's for each... this will also make things easier in the future as purchases are eternally tied to the Apple ID they were purchased with.

  • What is the best way to organize a tree-like structure of constants?

    Hello everone!
    Need help with organizing my constants structrure.
    I have several tables, and each of them need a list of column names to define the fields returned after query, and also a corresponding list of hashmap keys because that columnnames are ugly. Hashmap is where I store the result of searching through the table. This question is not about JDBC because I search through tables via COM interface, no JDBC ResultSets and other stuff here.
    Finally, for each table I have two constant lists and I have a list of tables. What is the best way to store this?
    My first idea was to create a enum and store column data in it as String array attributes: String[] columnNames; etc.
    But in this case I cannot use each column and key separately.
    Another option is to create two separate enums for each table: columnNames enum and keys enum. That doesn't look great also.
    The third option is to create inner class for each table and store two enums in each of that classes.
    Also I can store all data in hashmaps, Strings etc.
    (1) Finally, from your experience, what is the best way to organize all that stuff?
    (2) I have heard that smart Java programmer should avoid using the enums by any means. Do you agree?
    (3) Generally what will you prefer when creating a constant which has two values: two final Integers or enum?
    Edited by: Dmitry_MSK on Jul 8, 2010 5:22 AM

    I'm not sure why you don't just invent a generic data structure (e.g., table name, list of column names and aliases of column names) such as:
    class QueryMetaData {
      private final String tableName;
      private final String[] columnNames;
      private final String[] columnAliases;
    }Read into the above structure from a properties file, database table, etc. You can store meta-data itself in places other than enum constants, particularly if would like to change the meta-data without requiring a new build of your application.
    That having been said, WRT to your specific questions:
    (1) Finally, from your experience, what is the best way to organize all that stuff?See above
    (2) I have heard that smart Java programmer should avoid using the enums by any means. Do you agree?Enums are better than simple constants using int or String or something similar. If there are known, discrete values unlikely to change frequently, I see no issues with an enum. They improve the readability of code, and there are enough syntactic sugar features in the language (switch statements come to mind) to make them appealing.
    (3) Generally what will you prefer when creating a constant which has two values: two final Integers or enum?
    See above. Enums were introduced (in large part) to do away with storing constants as integers.

  • What is the best way to add external C++ code to LabView 6.1?

    I have various C++ class-based DLL's written with Visual Studio 6.0 and wish
    to create instances of these C++ classes and call their methods in LabView
    6.1. What is the best way to do this?
    It seems based on the little reading I have done that there are two choices:
    1. Wrap the C++ class as a simple COM control and use LabView's COM based
    VIs to create a COM object and access the methods of various interfaces.
    2. Wrap the C++ class methods as C functions and a "constructor" and
    "destructor" C function to create and destroy an instance of the class. Then
    use LabView's DLL call support.
    Which is best? What direction is LabView going to take that better supports
    the notion of C++ class libraries?
    Thanks,

    rry

    You could also try using a CIN. This is a tool that LabVIEW provides for interfacing with external code.
    The CINTools libraries of LabVIEW allow you to embed compiled C code into a particular Virtual Instrument (VI) using a CIN.
    In order for LabVIEW to be capable of calling compiled functions of C from a running VI, the code must be loaded and unloaded into memory at the same time as the VI code itself. LabVIEW uses object code in the form of a .lsb file which is generated by the C compiler from the C source code using the ntlvsbm.mak file. This ntlvsbm.mak file is included in the CINtools directory in the LabVIEW folder. You also must create another .mak file which includes parameter definitions for the ntlvsbm.mak file and also includes a call to the LabVIEW .mak file.
    The generic documentation for CINs only explains how to use them to call C compiled code from a LabVIEW VI. It shows several development environments such as Visual C++, but in essence it only allows the user to create .lsb files out of plain C source code ( .c ) through C compilers on those environments.
    The question now is how can I create .lsb files from C++ native source code using a C++ compiler. Furthermore, how can I create a .lsb file from several C++ source code files (.cpp) and make calls to C++ functions from a VI using CINs? The following explains how to do this:
    1) Drop a Code Interface Node (from the Advanced Subpalette of the Functions Palette) into the LabVIEW VI. Make sure to wire the inputs.
    2) Right-click on the CIN and choose "Create.c File...", then in the file dialog box specify a "name.cpp" file name. (very important: use .cpp extension)
    3) Then create a name.mak makefile (text file) and add the following lines :
    name=name_of_cpp_file_without_the_extension
    type=CIN
    cinlibraries=Kernel32.lib
    CINTOOLSDIR=path_to_cintools_directory
    !include <$(CINTOOLSDIR)\ntlvsb.mak>
    4) Go into Visual C++ and File>Open and open the .mak file. You can even Add the name.cpp file to the project to make it easier to edit. Select that name.cpp or open it as a text file in NotePad or and edit the prototypes of the CIN MgErr functions as shown below, adding extern "C" at the beginning of the line. extern "C" CIN MgErr CINRun(float64 *INPUT);3) Select Build.exe to create the "name.lsb" file. To import the .lsb into LabVIEW, right-click on the CIN and choose "Load Code Resource...". Then, choose the name.lsb file and it is ready to run!
    If you want to use several C++ source code files with .cpp extensions, then compile them in Visual C++ and link them to name.cpp and create a .lsb by modifying the name.mak as follows:
    name=name_of_cpp_file_without_the_extension
    otherobj=other_cpp_files_BUT_USING_.obj_extension
    type=CIN
    cinlibraries=Kernel32.lib
    CINTOOLSDIR=path_to_cintools_directory
    !include <$(CINTOOLSDIR)\ntlvsbm.mak>
    It's worth a try? I have also heard of using clusters to represent classes, so you could check that out.

  • What is the best way to organize queue in R/3?

    Hi,
    I'm in a middle of a project, where I should implement queue in order to sync data between 2 systems - r/3 and legasy one. I have few user exits (or bussiness events), which could be rised concurently in time, and I need only 1 instance of the sync module to run at a time. Well, I know the technique to prevent a program from running in multiple processes, and I have an idea how to organize a queue (my idea is to use transparent table to track actions which should be sync-ed), but there allways are some 'bottlenecks' that should be considered in such an implementation.
    That's why it might be of great help if someone could share his/her knowledge on this topic or point me to the right paper/docu, if available.
    I just don't want to reinvent the wheel, if possible
