What is the formula for a cell equal to itself plus another cell?

I trying to create a worksheet where I enter a new number into a cell  at different times and have a running total in another cell.

Jon,
Here's a graphic on my suggestion:
The expression in Display :: A2 is =OFFSET(Enter Here :: $A$1,COUNT(Enter Here :: A), 0)
The expression in Display :: B2 is =SUM(Enter Here :: A)

    Hi,
I would like to create an Ageing report in XL reporter for SAP business one.
Columns include 30 days, 60 days 90 days etc.
What should be the formula for Column Selection for eg: 30 days?
The logic is total the value if Today Date - Posting Date <=30.
    Appreciate any help.

    Hi Jim,
I have started XL reporter within SAP Business One.
On XL reporter menu, I go Help--> Help.
    The standard Help screen opened.
I have typed in Period, Syntax Period, Date, DateAdd, but I don't seem to find the example you mentioned.
Could you please advise me what I have missed?

What is the formula to automatically enter 'current date' into spreadsheet?  In Quattro, it was '@today', but I cannot find it in the Numbers spreadsheet.  Thx

    201,
Do you want it to update or always show the date when entered?
For updates, use the TODAY() function.
For a static date, use Insert > Date and Time.

  • Three Numbers questions:how do you change the auto default background or fill color from white to another color to use in multiple succeeding operations?  what is the formula to express the ratio of two numbers as a percent?

    Numbers questioons:
-how do I change the automatic default background fill color so it stays a non white color?
-what is the formula to express the ratio of two numbers as a percentage?
-how do I create a signal formula to be sue against an entire column of data (for example, if I wanted to multiply the each cell in the column by the number 10)?
-I have created a spreadsheet in Numbers with header and rows labelled and it contains formulas as well.  I now want to create a new 'blank' of this template with same header and row names and formulas, but without the cell entries from my earlier exerciser so I can use again in the future. How do I do this?

    Hi Matt,
For short columns, the easiest method is to select the cell containing the formula, then grab the fill handle (small circle at the botom right of the selected cell) and drag down.
For long columns, use either Jerry's suggestion (copy/paste) or Insert > Fill > Fill Down.
    Copy/Paste:
Select the cell containing the formula. Copy
Select from the cell containing teh formula to the end of the column. Paste.
    Fill Down:
After entering the formula, and pressing enter...
Click on the column reference tab to select the whole column.
Command click on each cell above the one containing the formula to remove it from the selection.
When cell with the formula is the top cell in the selection, go Insert > Fill > Fill Down.
    Pick whichever is easiest.

How can I move columns in Numbers without distorting the formula in other cells?  In Excel I can cut and paste entire columns and the formula in other cells adjusts accordingly.  When I do it in Numbers, the formula messes up.  How can I do this?
For example: I have formulas in columns D and F that relate to columns C to CU
If I want to move one column from one position to another (say S to T), the formula loses the colums that was moved, i.e. it doesn't recognize it has moved, rather sees it as deleted...  How can I do this without distorting the formula?

    Thanks for the feedback.
If I often urge askers to look at the available resources, it's because  a large range of questions asked in the forums are already answered in these documents.
As they are PDFs, they are easy to search in.
    CAUTION
Download them while they are available.
Given what is delivered with iBooks Author, I'm afraid that we will not get such easy to use documents.
Searching infos in the  iBooks Author documentation available on line is awfully cumbersome and a lot of embedded links are wrongly flagged this way. In the Help files they aren't links but underlined strings.
It seems that the tool used to generate the web pages was wrongly configured.

  • What's the purpose for the two Wireless Antennas on a WAP?

I have a very simple question, that I'm a little confused about. Here it goes.
Most Access Points have two antennas. One is labeled as LEFT/PRIMARY and the other is RIGHT.
What is the purpose for the two antennas? When I have one antenna connected it works without any issues. Can I just use the LEFT/PRIMARY antenna for wireless connectivity? What are the purpose for the two?
And we are talking about a single band, 802.11b/g NOT 802.11a.
    Thank you!

    Hi Rashida,
The use of two Antennas on these AP's is used for "Diversity Mode. In many cases, 1 single Antenna will work nicely. Here is an explanation for the use of two Antennas :)
    This describes the use of 2 **Identical Antennas in "Diversity" Mode;
The purpose of diversity is to overcome multipath reflections. Diversity antennas that share the same physical housing are placed at an optimum distance apart. The maker of the particular antenna determines that distance based on the characteristics of the antenna. When you use a pair of antennas with matching characteristics to provide diversity for cell coverage in your facility, the guideline is to put those matched antennas at a distance apart from each other that is equal to a multiple of the wavelength of the frequency that is being transmitted. The 2.4 GHz wavelength is approximately 4.92 inches. Therefore, to support diversity on a 2.4 GHz radio with two separate antennas, the antennas should be spaced approximately 5 inches apart. The antenna pair could also be spaced at multiples of 5 inches, but the distance between should not exceed 4 multiples: reflected waves farther apart than that are likely to be so distorted and different in delay spread that the radio could not work with them.Because each antenna is selected by itself, both antennas must have the same radiation characteristics and be positioned to provide similar cell coverage.
**** Two antennas connected to the same access point must not be used to cover two different cells.****
    From this good doc;
    Multipath and Diversity
    http://www.cisco.com/en/US/tech/tk722/tk809/technologies_tech_note09186a008019f646.shtml
A diversity antenna system can be compared to a switch that selects one antenna or another, never both at the same time. The radio in receive mode will continually switch between antennas listening for a valid radio packet. After the beginning sync of a valid packet is heard, the radio will evaluate the sync signal of the packet on one antenna, then switch to the other antenna and evaluate. Then the radio will select the best antenna and use only that antenna for the remaining portion of that packet.
On transmit, the radio will select the same antenna it used the last time it communicated to that given radio. If a packet fails, it will switch to the other antenna and retry the packet.
One caution with diversity, it is not designed for using two antennas covering two different coverage cells. The problem in using it this way is that, if antenna no. 1 is communicating to device no. 1 while device no. 2 (which is in the antenna no. 2 cell) tries to communicate, antenna no. 2 is not connected (due to the position of the switch), and the communication fails. Diversity antennas should cover the same area from only a slightly different location."
    Diversity Antenna Systems
Diversity antenna systems are used to overcome a phenomenon known as multipath distortion of multipath fading. It uses two **identical antennas, located a small distance apart, to provide coverage to the same physical area.
    From this Antenna reference guide;

  • Can somebody give me the formula for the balance column in a check register please? I am trying to setup like sample in iWork but am missing something.

Can somebody give me the formula for the balance column in a check register please? I am setting the register up like the sample in iWork 09 but I seem to be missing something in the formula.

    OM,
The way the checking account balance column works is to designate one cell for the starting balance, indicate income with positive figures and outgo with negative figures, summing the transactions and adding the sum to the starting figure.
The formula used, =$F$1+SUM(OFFSET(F3,3-ROW(),-1,ROW()-2)), is not too difficult to understand if you study the syntax for Offset. The author of this template didn't do us any favors because the expression could have been written more clearly, in my opinion. I'll explain how it's done in the template, and then how I would have written it. With the two approaches you may be able to see what it's all about.
    $F$1 is the starting balance.
    SUM requires a Range specification.
Offset provides the range specification. The syntax for Offset is as follows:
Base Cell. In this case it is F3, the cell the expression is written in.
Row Offset. In this case the author takes the current row number and subtracts the starting row from it. For the first balance the offset will be zero since the first balance is in row 3. For all the subsequent balances, the offset will be negative, meaning that the offset will point to a row above the current row.
Column Offset. In this case the column offset is 0. That means that it is pointing 1 column to the left, Column E.
Rows. This parameter sets the length of the range, in rows. Subtracting 2 from the current row number means that the range will be 1 for the first balance and will grow by 1 for each entry down the list.
Taking all this into account, the range for the Sum function will always be Column E from Row 2 to the current Row.
How I would have written the balance expression:
    =F$1+SUM(OFFSET(E$3,0,0,ROW()-2))
I believe it's easier to follow.
The starting balance is still in F1, but only the row needs to be absolute - a fine point, I know.
In my expression the base cell for the Offset function is the first entry cell of the transactions, E3. The row needs to be absolute, there is no reason for the base cell to move about as it does in the author's version.
In my approach, both the row and column offsets are zero. We always start at E3.
In my approach, the number of rows in the range is the current row number minus 2, just as in the author's expression. That means we include all rows from Row 3 to the current row.
I'd be happy to answer any other questions about the specifics, but you need to be specific about what you don't get.

Legality aside (I'm not a lawyer and have no opinion on the matter) in order to make a purchase of an iPhone 5 you would need to travel to a country where they are for sale and purchase it there. Be sure to get one that is officially unlocked or you would not be able to use it with your cell carrier. Be sure that your carrier supports use of the iPhone before you buy. Also note that the warranty of the iPhone is only valid in the country of purchase.
Appe does not ship outside of the countries where it sells the phones.

  • What is the cause for the mac to become slow

what is the cause for the mac to become slow?

Things You Can Do To Resolve Slow Downs
If your computer seems to be running slower here are some things you can do:
Start with a visit to: OS X Maintenance - MacAttorney.
Boot into Safe Mode then repair your hard drive and permissions:
Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions Pre-Lion/Mountain Lion
Boot from your OS X Installer disc. After the installer loads select your language and click on the Continue button. When the menu bar appears select Disk Utility from the Utilities menu. After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list.  In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive.  If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported click on the Repair Permissions button. Wait until the operation completes, then quit DU and return to the installer.
If DU reports errors it cannot fix, then you will need Disk Warrior and/or Tech Tool Pro to repair the drive. If you don't have either of them or if neither of them can fix the drive, then you will need to reformat the drive and reinstall OS X.
Repair the Hard Drive - Lion/Mountain Lion
Boot from your Lion Recovery HD. When the recovery menu appears select Disk Utility. If no errors are reported, then click on the Repair Permissions button. Wait until the operation completes, then quit DU and return to the main menu. Select Restart from the Apple menu.
    Boot to the Recovery HD:
Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the COMMAND and R keys until the menu screen appears. Alternatively, restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the OPTION key until the boot manager screen appears. Select the Recovery HD and click on the downward pointing arrow button.
Restart your computer normally and see if this has helped any. Next do some maintenance:
    Suggestions for OS X Maintenance
For situations Disk Utility cannot handle the best third-party utility is Disk Warrior;  DW only fixes problems with the disk directory, but most disk problems are caused by directory corruption; Disk Warrior 4.x is now Intel Mac compatible.
OS X performs certain maintenance functions that are scheduled to occur on a daily, weekly, or monthly period. The maintenance scripts run in the early AM only if the computer is turned on 24/7 (no sleep.) If this isn't the case, then an excellent solution is to download and install a shareware utility such as Macaroni, JAW PseudoAnacron, or Anacron that will automate the maintenance activity regardless of whether the computer is turned off or asleep.  Dependence upon third-party utilities to run the periodic maintenance scripts was significantly reduced since Tiger.  These utilities have limited or no functionality with Snow Leopard or Lion and should not be installed.
OS X automatically defragments files less than 20 MBs in size, so unless you have a disk full of very large files there's little need for defragmenting the hard drive. As for virus protection there are few if any such animals affecting OS X. You can protect the computer easily using the freeware Open Source virus protection software ClamXAV. Personally I would avoid most commercial anti-virus software because of their potential for causing problems. For more about malware see Macintosh Virus Guide.
I would also recommend downloading a utility such as TinkerTool System, OnyX 2.4.3, or Cocktail 5.1.1 that you can use for periodic maintenance such as removing old log files and archives, clearing caches, etc.
For emergency repairs install the freeware utility Applejack.  If you cannot start up in OS X, you may be able to start in single-user mode from which you can run Applejack to do a whole set of repair and maintenance routines from the command line.  Note that AppleJack 1.5 is required for Leopard. AppleJack 1.6 is compatible with Snow Leopard. There is no confirmation that this version also works with Lion.
When you install any new system software or updates be sure to repair the hard drive and permissions beforehand.
Get an external Firewire drive at least equal in size to the internal hard drive and make (and maintain) a bootable clone/backup. You can make a bootable clone using the Restore option of Disk Utility. You can also make and maintain clones with good backup software. My personal recommendations are (order is not significant):
      1. Carbon Copy Cloner
      2. Data Backup
      3. Deja Vu
      4. SuperDuper!
      5. SyncTwoFolders
      6. Synk Pro
      7. Synk Standard
      8. Tri-Backup
Visit The XLab FAQs and read the FAQs on maintenance, optimization, virus protection, and backup and restore.
Additional suggestions will be found in Mac maintenance Quick Assist.
Referenced software can be found at CNet Downloads or MacUpdate.
    Additional Hints
Be sure you have an adequate amount of RAM installed for the number of applications you run concurrently. Be sure you leave a minimum of 10% of the hard drive's capacity as free space.
Add more RAM. If your computer has less than 2 GBs of RAM and you are using OS X Leopard or later, then you can do with more RAM. Snow Leopard and Lion work much better with 4 GBs of RAM than their system minimums. The more concurrent applications you tend to use the more RAM you should have.
Always maintain at least 15 GBs or 10% of your hard drive's capacity as free space, whichever is greater. OS X is frequently accessing your hard drive, so providing adequate free space will keep things from slowing down.
Check for applications that may be hogging the CPU:
Open Activity Monitor in the Utilities folder.  Select All Processes from the Processes dropdown menu.  Click twice on the CPU% column header to display in descending order.  If you find a process using a large amount of CPU time, then select the process and click on the Quit icon in the toolbar.  Click on the Force Quit button to kill the process.  See if that helps.  Be sure to note the name of the runaway process so you can track down the cause of the problem.
Often this problem occurs because of a corrupted cache or preferences file or an attempt to write to a corrupted log file.

  • What is the equation for a Low-Sidelobe Window Function (in Power Spectrum VI)?

I am trying to find out what is the equation for the Low Sidelobe Window which is mentioned in the Power Spectrum VI. Hanning second sidelobe is around -32dB of the first. What is that for Low Sidelobe?

The CWT is not equivalent to the discrete dyadic wavelet transform. In theory, the CWT can compute the wavelet coefficient at any positive real scale and any real shift, while the discrete dyadic wavelet transform only includes the dyadic scales (2,4,8,16...). So the formula used to describe the CWT can be referred to the equation in pp.80 in S. Mallat's book.
In SPT's implementation, the time interval controls the shift in number of samples. The scales indicate the wavelet coefficients at integer scales 1,2,3,...,"scales" are contained in the output scalogram.

  • What is the Tcodes for Uploading of data using BDC & CATT

    PP members:
I was going through the <b>cutover activities</b> ,  and what I understood is  we transfer all the legacy system data into SAP before going live
The data upload follows certain steps (depends on the organizational design load strategies)
First we upload all the master data ( material master, BOM, W/C's & Routings)
Then the transaction data ( Ideally speaking, there should no open orders i.e. WIP as on the day of cutoff )
If the WIP (Work in Process) is unavoidable then the materials consumed shall be treated as <b>materials of the previous stage</b> and necessary adjustments shall be made after cutover day
At this point, I could not able to understand what does the author mean <b>materials of the previous stage</b>
Now comming to the uploading of data into SAP from legacy system, we use tools like LSMW, CATT & BDC
Is it a must to use <b>only LSMW tool</b> to upload master data or any other upload tools are fine
Lastly,. I am not sure about the Tcode of CATT & BDC
    Summary of the questions:
1.What does the author mean  <b>material of previous stage</b>, for WIP materials during cutover activities
    2. Is it mandatory to use only LSMW tool for uploading for master data
    3. What are the Tcodes for upload tools CATT & BDC ?
    Thanks for your time
    Suren R

    Dear,
1.What does the author mean material of previous stage, for WIP materials during cutover activities - as i understood, what is the stage of material..like it must have gone through 2 work centers and other 2 is left. i.e. you need to create Production order with only 2 operation as other 2 is already over. - usually it is done in such a way that we will create Production order and confirm till 2 operations and WIp is calculated so thatb FI will tally the books in SAP and lagacy.
    2. Is it mandatory to use only LSMW tool for uploading for master data - no you can use any tool as required and suits yr requirement
    3. What are the Tcodes for upload tools CATT & BDC- BDC through a prog in SE38. CATT through - SCEM.

Insert Installer disk and Restart, holding down the "C" key until grey Apple appears.
Go to Installer menu (Panther and earlier) or Utilities menu (Tiger) and launch Disk Utility.
Select your HDD (manufacturer ID) in the left panel.
Select First Aid in the Main panel.
(Check S.M.A.R.TStatus of HDD at the bottom of right panel, and report if it saysanything but Verified)
Click Repair Disk on the bottom right.
If DU reports disk does not need repairs quit DU and restart.
If DU reports errors Repair again and again until DU reports disk is repaired.
If DU reports errors it cannot repair you will need touse autility like TechTool Pro,Drive Geniusor DiskWarrior
First we need to determine if the issue you are experiencing with the computer is software or hardware based. Once we have gotten things sorted out there should be time enough to make you decision about keeping or returning it.
