What is the pendant to a Scale Formula in TCM?

Hi Experts,
I have a question in the area of TCM regarding the following scenario.
We setup a standard rate table for the basic freight charge. This table is used for several customers.
The table consists of the following scales.
- Freight Class with scale items: 50, 55, 60, 65, 70, 77, 85, 92.5, 100, 110, 125, 150, 175, etc.
- Source Zip code
- Destination zip code
The Freight class is stored in the Forwarding Order item as a Commodity Code type.
So far the setup works fine.
However we have now special customer agreements which says:
if the freight class of the forwarding order is between 50 and 92.5 rate it as 50 and
if the freight class is between 100 and 125 rate it as 100. In all other cases use the freight class as is.
So for example if the forwarding order has an item with class 65 it needs to lookup the tariff in the rate table with class 50. In case of 175 it uses 175.
In ERP we would have implemented our logic in a scale formula . But how can I handle this requirement best in TM?
Any help is very much appreciated.
Thanks a lot.
Tom

Hi Sunish,
thanks a lot for your reply. Unfortunately i cannot go that route.
Here's the background. We use a tariff e.g. 4711 for many customers. This base tariff is based on Freight Class, source & destination zip code and weight. Now we have some exceptions for specific customers where we agreed that whenever they ship something that is between freight class 50 and 92.5, we rate it as 50. I know that we could setup a separate rate table for this customer, but that makes the overall handling very complex. I need to have 1 base tariff that I can use for multiple customers. by that I only need to maintain 1 table. The logic for those customer-specific freight class exceptions I need to apply before it pulls the actual tariff from the table. So the steps would be:
1. Read actual Freight Class from Forwarding Order (e.g. FC 60)
2. Apply the "rate-as" exception logic. As a result for example the system uses not 60 but 50 as Freight Class.
3. Pull tariff from rate table with FC 50 , Source & Destination ZIP etc.
Do you have any idea where I can implement this "rate-as logic"?
Thanks
Tom

  • What is the best way to scale Red footage in FCX?

    Hi everyone,
    I'm currently editing a feature film in Final Cut X Pro (10.0.9).  I've edited on FCX in the past, but this is my first feature project with it.  The feature was shot on two cameras.  Camera A was a Red Epic (5K).  Camera B was a Red Scarlet (4K).  An assistant editor was in charge of getting the project set up.  I'm the co-director, so I didn't come on board the edit until a few weeks after he had everything imported, in sync, and properly structured in keyword folders per scene number.  The guy did a great job and organized the **** out of everything.  He then cut a few assemblies for us.
    Now I'm working on it on my own and it's been going great, but I have two questions which have dogged me:
    1. There's been a handful of shots I've wanted to enlarge / scale / zoom-in on.  A good example is a medium shot, which I prefer to now be a CU of the actor's face.  The way I've been doing this up until now, is by selecting the clip in the timeline, going to the Video inspector window in the top right, and changing the Scale percentage.  I usually find though that, if I go beyond 150%, I lose a lot of quality.  Now, at first I thought this was just because I was using Proxy Media (only for Playback) in my edit.  So I did a test and opened the same clip in a separate project reel.  I then scaled the clip again to 175% but de-selected 'Use Proxy media for Playback.'  So in essence, I did an 'online' to see the raw media in my timeline.  And after doing this, the scaled clip's quality definitely improved.  But not enough to give me the confidence to do this often throughout the film.
    So my question is, is there a better / smarter way to do this?  I've been reading PDFs lately about tbe best practices for a Red workflow with FCX.  And I see that they recommend making tweaks to files using the 'RED Raw Settings Control.'  I confess, I've never dabbled with this.  To me, any sort of RED tweaking will happen during the mastering phase.  Not during the basic edit.  But would this option be better for scaling clips?  Or is scaling clips something I should hold off on for now and do in the more final stages of mastering.
    2. This second question sort of ties into my basic Project Property settings.  So first, a recap of the workflow we used to get the project into FCX:
    - Imported all RED Raw footage from both cameras.
    - Synced up audio and multi-cam clips.
    - Playback settings are 'Use proxy media.'  (no Optimized media was created and as far as I know now, Optimized / Proxy media wasn't creating during Import, nor were Import folders / keyword collections created at that point.)
    Now, when I look at my Project Properties, it says my 'Video Properties' are in 5K.  And my Render Format is Apple ProRes 422 (Proxy).  So the way I read that, any straight up Export I do of the default video file is going to be 5K.  That includes any sort of Apple ProRes export.
    So is this correct?  Even though I'm viewing my reel as a Proxy for Playback, is it okay that my Project Properites video size is still 5K?  Or should've that been changed to 1080p before I did any editing on this project?  Is the 5K project setting slowing me down?  Or adding on more time to my Vimeo Shares and straight Exports?
    I know I'm asking a lot of questions here, so perhaps it will be easier if someone can explain what their workflow is with 5K footage in 5K.  We're doing a small screening of the rough cut tonight for friends and I wanted to export an Apple ProRes 422, but it's like 300GB big!  So it seems the only option I have is to use the Apple Devices preset and export an H.264.
    Thank you in advance to anyone that can provide me some advice.

    What Luis said: set the project to 4k or smaller .... whatever is good enough for the output you require. Editing in 5k already requires you to upscale the 4k footage.
    The RED Raw settings have nothing to do with the scaling. They are meant to dial in white balance, color, saturation and other parameters.

    Wether the 5k project is slowing you down depends on the specs of your hardware. Do you intend the output to be 1080? Then your scaling problems are over.

  • What would the equation be to scale a 2nd Y-axis to my first Y-axis?

    I am using a 8757D scalar to collect 2 channel sweeps. The first channel has an arbitrary Scale, REF Position and REF Level, the 2nd channel has a differing Scale, REF Position and REF Level. I collect and plot channel 1data with no problem since it dictates the Y axis values. Now I want to collect the channel 2 data and Scale it to fit the channel 1 Y-Axis. Three factors are involved, Scaling of the channel 2 data, REF Position (0-8 on the screen, integers only) and REF Level (dB)
    The equation i am currently using is: (Channel 2 Data) * (CH1 Scale/CH2 Scale) + (REF Level Channel 1 - REF Level Channel 2) * CH1 Scale/CH2 Scale + (CH2 REF Position - CH1 REF Position) * CH1 Scale
    This works sometimes and other times it errs. I put an image of my test matrix for you to examine. I have wrestled with this for days and can't figure it out, I am posting here in the hopes that someone will see what I did wrong and help me out with it... the last row is the data from the scalar, the 2nd is my attempt to scale channel 2 data to the channel 1 Y-Axis. As you can see, it works 2 of 3 times, but when I reverse the active channel, the equation fails. Column 1 are Column 2's only difference is that I made channel 2 of the scalar analyzer the active channel...
    The 1st LV Graph is when Channel 1 is active, as you can see the data plots fine, channel 2 is scaled to fit on channel 1's Y-Axis, Purple is Ch1 REF and Yellow is Ch2 REF
    Next LV Graph is when Channel 2 is active, the 2 REF lines are correct, but the Channel 1 data (Green line) which should be at 0 dB (my excel spreadsheet says -30, but it should be 0, is at +10 dB and is hidden under the Yellow REF Line...
    Don't understand the equation enough to see the error and after Numerous hours of staring at it, well, I have hit a dead end, so someone out there good in math, PLEASE shed some light on my error!
    Thanks In advance
    Jim

  • What is the use of 'Convert to Formula' in BEx Report?

    Helo BI Gurus,
    After refreshing the query in BI, when I right click on the query report, I am getting an option 'Convert to Formula'. Can you please tell me the use of this option, and how we can use this in our report and what the result we will be getting?

    Hi Mathew,
        The Convert to Formula in Excel Allows you to Convert you Embedded Bex Query into API Calls. This enables you to Better Format the Excel Output by allowing you to move your Cells Around.
    This helps because when you refresh you Query all the Changes you make will be maintained.

  • ASR9000/XR - BNG - L3 sub-interface limit for trunk (4096) error - what is the work around?

    We currently have 7,500 broadband subscribers that we will be terminating on our ASR 9001.
    Each one of our customers will be terminating on a sub-interface on a bundle.
    On the 9k, there will be a QoS policy applied to rate-limit their broadband connection (see example below).
    The challenge that we are running into right now is scaling beyond 4096 L3 sub-interfaces. When running through this in our lab, we receive the following fail message:
    RP/0/RSP0/CPU0:BNG(config-subif)#show config failed
    Tue Mar 10 18:32:07.552 UTC
    !! SEMANTIC ERRORS: This configuration was rejected by

    !! errors with each failed configuration command can be
    !! found below.
    interface Bundle-Ether10.6941171
    !!% The L3 sub-interface limit for the trunk interface has been reached: Trunk limit for L3 subinterfaces on Bundle-Ether10 is 4096
    We have added the following on to each of the sub-interfaces to "fake" out the NPU, but even with SPD configured, we are receiving the max 4096 message:
    service-policy output <POLICY> subscriber-parent resource-id 0
    service-policy output <POLICY> subscriber-parent resource-id 1
    service-policy output <POLICY> subscriber-parent resource-id 2
    service-policy output <POLICY> subscriber-parent resource-id 3
    It is my understanding that we have a total of 4 resource ID's to use (0-3) and the ASR 9001 will support up to 32,000 sub-interfaces (system wide or 8,000 sub interfaces per resource-id).
    See attached image for reference this design.
    Main question to the community is what is the work around to scale beyond 4096 L3 sub-interfaces??
    In our case it is not feasible to bring in additional bundles and spread the customers out.
    Look forward to your responses.

    0Did you ever have a business scenario where a Numerical column should store values only with a fixed precision and scale ?Lots of business requirements for specific precisions and scales.
    A persons Age may required to be stored as whole numbers of no more than 3 digits.
    A sum of money may required to be stored with no more than 2 decimal places of accuracy e.g. GB Pounds and Pence or US Dollars and Cents
    A unit of length may required to be stored in metres with 2 decimal places for centimetres
    A shoe size may be required to be stored with one decimal place for half sizes
    etc.
    etc.
    Yes, you may just create all of them as generic NUMBER datatype, but creating them with precision and scale can provide additional information about the limitations expected for the values stored, especially for things like reporting tools that may use the specified precision and scale to determine how to display the values automatically (by default).
    If you start questioning "what's the point?" then you may as well say what's the point in having a NUMBER datatype when we can store numbers in a VARCHAR2 datatype? or what's the point in having a DATE datatype when we can stored dates as VARCHAR2 datatype? etc.
    No point in asking such a question because there's almost always a point to these things (and if there isn't they get deprecated in later versions).

  • Three Numbers questions:how do you change the auto default background or fill color from white to another color to use in multiple succeeding operations?  what is the formula to express the ratio of two numbers as a percent?

    Numbers questioons:
    -how do I change the automatic default background fill color so it stays a non white color?
    -what is the formula to express the ratio of two numbers as a percentage?
    -how do I create a signal formula to be sue against an entire column of data (for example, if I wanted to multiply the each cell in the column by the number 10)?
    -I have created a spreadsheet in Numbers with header and rows labelled and it contains formulas as well.  I now want to create a new 'blank' of this template with same header and row names and formulas, but without the cell entries from my earlier exerciser so I can use again in the future. How do I do this?

    Hi Matt,
    For short columns, the easiest method is to select the cell containing the formula, then grab the fill handle (small circle at the botom right of the selected cell) and drag down.
    For long columns, use either Jerry's suggestion (copy/paste) or Insert > Fill > Fill Down.
    Copy/Paste:
    Select the cell containing the formula. Copy
    Select from the cell containing teh formula to the end of the column. Paste.
    Fill Down:
    After entering the formula, and pressing enter...
    Click on the column reference tab to select the whole column.
    Command click on each cell above the one containing the formula to remove it from the selection.
    When cell with the formula is the top cell in the selection, go Insert > Fill > Fill Down.
    Pick whichever is easiest.

  • SSAS Tabular in DirectQuery - What are the workarounds for formula limitations?

    Hello,
    I need to create an SSAS Tabular model against the database of a live, real-time, line of business transactional system (i.e. a CRM).
    The business requirement behind it is that we need to create some complex reports against live data, and our DW is only updated daily.
    This live model will however be partitioned with a time-variance limitation (e.g. only records which are XX old can be returned).
    Now here is the challenge. Since I am querying live data, then I believe the model must be configured in DirectQuery model. Am I right?
    The issue is that DirectQuery mode is full of formula limitations. So my concern is, if I need a calculated column or measure that I cannot make it work due to DirectQuery limitations, then what are the alternatives?
    Remember that the data source is from a live system, so it is not like I can create columns and measures in the underlying relational database.
    Please advise.
    Regards,
    P.

    Hi pmdci,
    According to your description, you want to use some functions in calculated measure which are not supported in DirectQuery mode. Right?
    In Analysis Services Tabular, since DirectQuery has the real time access and scalability, this comes with a price of restrictions on a number of DAX functions and missing Calculated Column feature. Generally the workaround for these scenarios
    is replacing those functions with other functions which are supported in DirectQuery mode, or create columns in the data source. However, as you said, your environment is not possible to create columns in the database. And a lot of those limited
    function are not replaceable, like time intelligence functions. So actually, there's no really effective workaround currently.
    For you requirement, I suggest you submit Microsoft a feature request
    at https://connect.microsoft.com/SQLServer
    so that we can try to modify and expand the product features based on your needs.

  • What is the use of  fox formula in integrated planning

    what is the use of  fox formula in integrated planning

    Hi,
    just as a follow up - the FOX Extension Formula capability of the IP in BW is as others have mentioned - to help develop formulas to execute calculations during planning, forecasting, budgeting, etc. - it allows consultants, like myself, to develop these formulas without the help of an ABAP consultant - but creates ABAP programs behind the scenes.
    You can also use these ABAP programs separate from the IP component - once you create a FOX formula you can retrieve the ABAP program and then use it for other activities.
    With the FOX you can use variables in a formula, call another ABAP program, generate loops of data both master and transactional, allows IF, THEN statements, and a number of other activiities. There is a limit to the usefulness of the FOX formula process - you may find if the FOX formula is too complex or long that your process will run slowly during the calculations. If this is occurring you will need to debug your ABAP program to see if you can increaase the performance.
    Thanks and hope this helps, Pete

  • What is the point of column with scale 0 ?

    DB Version: 11.2
    This is what my understanding about Precision and Scale in Number datatype is
    NUMBER ( p, s )
    Example: in NUMBER(5,3)
    5 ==> stands for the total number of digits including the numbers after the decimal point
    3 ==>. stands for the digits to right of the decimal point.But , for number type defined with scale 0 how am I able to INSERT numbers with decimals as shown below ? I even managed INSERT numbers whose total length is crossing the precision 5 below ( 93939.223 )
    SQL> drop table t1;
    Table dropped.
    SQL> create table t1 (empid number (5,0));
    Table created.
    SQL> insert into t1 values (883.2);
    1 row created.
    SQL> insert into t1 values (883.22);
    1 row created.
    SQL> insert into t1 values (883.332);
    1 row created.
    SQL> insert into t1 values (93939.223);
    1 row created.
    SQL> commit;
    Commit complete.

    So, oracle is letting us INSERT numbers with decimals but it is eliminating those numbers internally.

    Yes - if by 'eliminating' you mean 'rounding'.

    Specifying scale and precision does not force all values to a fixed length. If a value exceeds the precision, then Oracle returns an error. If a value exceeds the scale, then Oracle rounds it.

  • What is the formula for automatically entering todays date into Numbers.  In Quattro, it was '@today', but I cannot find it in numbers.  Thx

    What is the formula to automatically enter 'current date' into spreadsheet?  In Quattro, it was '@today', but I cannot find it in the Numbers spreadsheet.  Thx

    201,
    Do you want it to update or always show the date when entered?
    For updates, use the TODAY() function.
    For a static date, use Insert > Date and Time.

  • Convert to Formula - what are the benefits?

    Hello Experts,
    Can anybody explain to me in simple words what this function does? I have read in SAP Bex tools (by SAP Press) that it enables some custom formatting, inserting columns and allows for additional calculations based off of the query key figures. I tried to convert a query to the formula mode, but I lost all query functionality (no BW menu on rightclick, not able to add characteristics etc.), and the query doesn't refresh. Moreover, I was not able to switch this mode off...
    What are the benefits then?
    I am still fairly new to BI 7.0 and currently testing it's functionalities, and I am getting more and more frustrated at it's complexity which seems to be no longer intuitive
    Thanks,
    A.

  • What's the correct syntax for animate scale

    I have tried to animate the scale transformation of an object from code.
    I had a little success with the code from here:
    http://stackoverflow.com/questions/5029035/how-do-we-add-css-animation-in-jquery
    But animating the scale looks jerky on the iPad with this hack.
    There must be an option of doing it from within Edge since a timeline animation which does the same (just transform scale of an object over time) runs smooth.
    I know there are jQuery extensions for things like that but I don't want to interfere with anything Edge does itself.
    Can someone give me a hint what syntax I need for animating the scale of an object within Edge?

    Hi Bittamer,
    There is no built-in code to animate objects. If you don't want to use the CSS scale code, you can use jQuery animate to animate the width and height props of your object, like so:
    sym.yourHeight = 500;
    sym.yourWidth = 500;
    sym.$("your_symbol").animate({height:sym.yourHeight, width:sym.yourWidth}, 500, 'swing');
