What is the transport mechanism in OWB?

Dear all,
We will be using OWB to control the Transportable tablespace process from a "Reporting Mirror" of the E-Business Suite to a Data Warehouse.
The underlying partitions we will be moving are stored on ASM.
Am I correct in thinking that OWB, behind the scenes, will be using the DBMS_FILE_TRANSFER utility to copy the partitions from source to target?
(ftp does appear to be a clear option within OWB but we don't want to use this)
Many thanks,
Barry

You have an oldschool options aswell:
Connect as SYS DBA with CONNECT / AS SYSDBA command.
Shutdown the database instance with SHUTDOWN command.
Rename or/and move the datafiles at operating system level.
Start Oracle database in mount state with STARTUP MOUNT command.
Modify the name or location of datafiles in Oracle data dictionary using following command syntax:
ALTER DATABASE RENAME FILE ‘<fully qualified path to original data file name>’ TO ‘<new or original fully qualified path to new or original data file name>’;
Open Oracle database instance completely with ALTER DATABASE OPEN command.
If the datafiles that need to be changed or moved do not belong to SYSTEM tablespaces, and do not contain active rollback segments or temporary segments, there is another workaround that does not require database instance to be shutdown. Instead, only the particular tablespace that contains the date files is taken offline.
Login to SQLPlus.
Connect as SYS DBA with CONNECT / AS SYSDBA command.
Make offline the affected tablespace with ALTER TABLESPACE <tablespace name> OFFLINE; command.
Modify the name or location of datafiles in Oracle data dictionary using following command syntax:
ALTER TABLESPACE <tablespace name> RENAME DATAFILE ‘<fully qualified path to original data file name>’ TO ‘<new or original fully qualified path to new or original data file name>’;
Bring the tablespace online again with ALTER TABLESPACE alter tablespace <tablespace name> ONLINE; command.

  • What is the Admin user in OWB

Being a newbie to OWB, I wonder what is the admin user in OWB, which i can use to login in repository browser, so that i can see all the avaliable workspaces, etc.,
    Thanks,
    Prabha

    Prabha-
OWB doesn't really have a separate "admin" user, though the repository owner itself is of course the full admin over everything. If you followed the docs or tutorials when setting up your environment, it's likely something like OWB_REPO_OWNER.
Though really it's whatever database user you specified by created when first creating your repository.
Anyway, it's this user that is always able to fully see and control all objects.
Thought I should say here also after re-reading your comment and your reference to "workspaces"- are you referring to OWB 11g? I must admit I haven't delved into 11g yet, and so am unsure if things are different. My comments definitely apply for OWB 10g however.

  • What is the Transport Seekvence in R3  and in BW

    Hi,
    i have Two Doubts,
i have to transport the requests from DEV to QA.
    1. what is the Transport Seekvence in <b>R3 DEV to R3 QA</b>
and <b>BW DEV to BW QA.</b>
2.in R/3 i have not cerated Logical System, is i have to creat Logical System.
if i have to create , which Name i have to give,
is i have to give same Logical System Name , what i have used in r/3 DEVElopment .
    Thank U,
    Jashaik

    T.K, ALFRED , SHANKAR,
    Thanx for ur inputs..
    Assigned both of you points.
    STILL I HAVE DOUBT,
in bw side, we will assign DataSource to InfoSource  in DEV.
how it will take in QA, meens That source system ( datasource ) is Created based on R/3 dev Logical system.
meene when we will create Source System in DEV it will ask Available Destinetion and Target Computer and System ID.
That is in my R/3 DEV   Available Destinetion = SDRCLNT50 ( IT IS LOGICALSYSTEM FO R/3 dev )
                                         Target Computer   =   SARRIX000 ( r/3 dev server name )
                                          System ID    =  00   ( r/3 dev system id )
    my doubt is .
How it will take this Data source ( bw dev ) in to BW QA ,
because R/3 QA Lagical System name is Different ( ie, WAD23 ) and R/3 QA server Name = sariix001.
how to map this data source, is i have to create Source System Mannually in BW QA.
    Thank U.

  • What are the transportation tools are used?

what are the transportation tools are used in companies. pls reply me its very urgent for me.

The Change and Transport System (CTS) is a tool that helps you to organize development projects in the ABAP Workbench and in Customizing, and then transport the changes between the SAP systems in your system landscape.
The Transport Organizer provides you with functions for organizing software development projects. It is designed to support projects of all sizes, whether they are carried out centrally or in a distributed environment.
You can organize, perform, and monitor transports between your SAP systems using the Transport Management System (TMS).

  • What are the Transport Request Release Functionality ?

    Sap Specialist,
Kindly tell me, I have following Doubt in <b>Transport Request Release</b> .
If we Realease any one Transport Request from SE09 in Developement Server,
What are the Functionalities Called ?
And How is it Export to Production Server ?

    Hi,
kindly go through the following hints.
Transport Request within same Server Different Clients
I have 3 clients under one SID (dev 130,140,150).
And we have more than 400+ transport requests in client 130.  How can we transport these requests to other clients of 140 & 150.  If I want to use tcode SCC1, that can be done only one tran. request at one time.
Do I need to write a script within unix?
    Try STMS.
    Click on the "import overview"
Double click on your target system
    Click "refresh"
Click on "import all request" or ctrl+F9
    Specify the target client
    Execute the transport
    Done...

  • What is the caching mechanism firefox 3.6 uses compared to what IE 6/7 and 8/9 use?

I just need to know how firefox handles/takes care of/and does its work with cookies and cache, basically its caching mechanism. Also comparing it to IE versions 6/7 and 8/9 would help, for the sake of web development with respect to the two browsers (Detailed technical answer would help). Since web apps may sometimes work on firefox and sometimes not while it works in IE just fine.

    Hi Kellymarr,
You can take a look at the release notes for each version to see what has been added or fixed:
    http://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/4.0/releasenotes/
Just change the version number in the url to see each major release.
    Hopefully this helps!

  • What is the new fetures of owb 10 Ccomapre Owb 9

what is major bugs in owb9. same what new featuers in OWb 10

    Hi Wade!
My post wasn't meant to contradict yours, sorry if it may look that way. I'm sure that the number you posted is correct, as Apple would be using a millimeter measurement in their calculation rather than the general "20-inch" term that I entered into the calculator and into a second that turned up not far behind in the list of googled hits - only to see if they worked:)
My point was how the iMac dot pitch could be calculated, and I didn't try to determine the exact method, just passed along the existence of a calculator, figuring that surely the OP can read the googled hits to find one with more in-depth info. Based on the few definitions I read, all 20-inch displays with 1680 x 1050 resolution will have a similar dot pitch. To me, that just confirmed what we all knew anyway.
I don't think there's any significant difference in those two numbers. The importance for most users appears to be that a dot pitch of higher than 31 makes it too difficult to read newsprint online. I recall reading on here within the past two years about displays with higher resolutions being available for specialized uses, but the prices were like five figures, beyond the reach of most of us asking or answering questions on here. I guess they're less today, but I still don't want to know:)

  • What is the transport protocol File (Axis) in the SOAP Adapter

    Hi,
for a SOAP Receiver Adapter it's possible to choose 'File (Axis)' as transport protocol.
How does it work and is there some documentation about it?
    Thanks and regards
    Patrick

    Hi,
    thanks for your answers.
    @Prateek
Yes I tried -> Doesn't say so much
    @Vinod
The first thread didn't helped me and I have seen already the second one.
    @kummari
The question is how can I use it?
    @Gabriel
    >The adapter uses transport protocol(File (Axis)) to send SOAP messages as text file
Could you please explain it a little more detailed (maybe with an example)?
My question is about in which scenarios it makes sense to use this transport protocol and how is it used?
    Thanks and regards

  • What is the best environment for OWB Client?

Our environment is mostly AIX 4.3.3.and 5.1 but we run Windoze on the desktop. The vast majority of our sources are Oracle on AIX and our test and production targets and repositories are AIX as well.
Would You (collective population) suggest running the OWB client on one of the AIX servers or from the Windoze desktop?
I noticed when using OWB Client from the Windoze desktop that when I define a Flat File source it wants to only look at desktop and attached drives. If I have flat files on one of my AIX servers, how can I use that as a source? Or even if I have OWB Client running on one of the AIX servers and the flat file is on another server, is the only way to get it via someting like NFS mounting?
Thanks for the advice to this newbie.
    /gary

As for the client part, there is no preference other than OWB is usually first released on the Windows platform and then certified on others. If you don't mind waiting several weeks or so for the updates, you can run the client on any available platform.
As for flat files etc. - you need to have flat files on the client only for file format sampling during the design phase, so a sample (with a couple of rows) of the 'real' file on you client is enough. When you deploy your design to the target platform, you will specify where the actual file resides (hostname, usr/pwd, directory etc.) - remember, once you deploy your design to the target, everything runs from there.

  • What is the purging mechanism on historical tables during 80%

    Hi,
I have a UCCE 7.2.5 environment.  Lately the HDS database is reaching 80% usage threshold and the system started to purge the database automatically.
Realised the auto purge is always purging for a few tables only.  Can someone advise how the auto purge works?
    Appreciate your help in advanced.
    Thanks.
    regards,

    Hi Joe,
Thanks for the info.  You mentioned "purge the oldest data in alphabetical order", does it mean the following table order?
    - t_Agent_Half_Hour: 615
    - t_Agent_Logout: 2
    - t_Agent_Skill_Group_Half_Hour: 615
    - t_Agent_Skill_Group_Logout: 2
    - t_Agent_State_Trace: 36
    - t_Call_Type_Half_Hour: 10
    - t_Network_Trunk_Group_Half_Hour: 780
    - t_Peripheral_Half_Hour: 781
    - t_Physical_Controller_Half_Hou: 781
    - t_Route_Call_Detail: 1
    - t_Route_Call_Variable: 1
    - t_Route_Half_Hour: 781
    - t_Routing_Client_Five_Minute: 781
    - t_Service_Half_Hour: 781
    - t_Skill_Group_Half_Hour: 781
    - t_Termination_Call_Detail: 28
    - t_Termination_Call_Variable: 1
    - t_Trunk_Group_Half_Hour: 780
If you take a close look, the 615, 2, 36, 10 etc are actually the different day of data till date.  For example, t_Call_Type_Half_Hour table has data upto 10 days only.
If the purge method mentioned earlier is true, the t_Agent_Half_Hour table should be the first to purge?  But in real case, the purging tables are in random order.
    Please advise.
    Thanks.

  • What is the concurrency mechanism in a JVM?

Is there a maximum number of threads for a JVM? Can I change the limited number?

No there is no fixed number, the number threads an application can create is dependent on options given when JVM is launched and memory usage profile of your application
Maximum number of threads that can be created per JVM is limited by the maximum heap size that is allocated to JVM process. Each Thread launched by JVM is also given a stack of fixed size.
Hence you can only create a certain number threads before JVM throws outofmemory.
In Sun's JDK the maximum heap size and thread's stack size can be controlled at the launch time via non-standard options as documented here.
    http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.4.2/docs/tooldocs/windows/java.html
-Xmx : controls the max heap size a JVM can grow upto
    -Xss : Thread's stack size

  • Transport Mechanism in XI

What is the transport mechanism in XI??
How to transport from Development system to Production syatem.
Is there anyway other than Import or Export??
    Thanks in advance,
    Jeevan.

When you migrate the Integration Server and the Integration Builder, you install a new IS/IB
3.0 on additional hardware. After completing the Customizing on IS 3.0, you use XI tools to
migrate XI configuration and runtime data from the IS 2.0 to the IS 3.0 system. Finally, you
have to switch the addressing for all application systems, adapters, and SLD parts from IS
    2.0 to IS 3.0.
You can prepare most steps in setting up Release 3.0 without interrupting the operative use
of Release 2.0. Therefore, the XI downtime is kept to a minimum.
The basics of the migration procedure are as follows:
    1. Installation and Customizing of Integration Server and Integration Builder (XI 3.0) on a
    standby host machine (all-in-one)
    2. Migration of SLD data from Release 2.0 to 3.0.
    3. Migration of XI Integration Builder data from Release 2.0 to 3.0.
    4. Cache refresh.
    5. XI downtime starts, which disables the input stream into IS 2.0 / IS 3.0.
    6. Migration of essential runtime data.
    7. XI downtime ends, which enables the input stream into IS 3.0 again.
    8. Address switching of adapters and application systems from IS 2.0 to IS 3.0.
Migration starts with the upgrade of the DEV landscape (including the DEV SLD) to Release
    3.0
After upgrading the DEV landscape, there is no way to transport configuration data
from the DEV 3.0 landscape to the QA 2.0 or PRD 2.0 landscapes.
We recommend that you perform all required transports from DEV to QA or
PRD before the migration procedure is started for the whole landscape.
    • If you need to make configuration changes after the DEV landscape migration to DEV
3.0, for example, for emergency corrections, you need to make the configuration
changes separately and in parallel for DEV 3.0 as well as for QA 2.0 and PRD 2.0.
The transport mechanisms for the SLD and Integration Builder are described in the Online
    Help.
All application systems in the DEV landscape must switch their addressing to the new
Integration Server 3.0 of the DEV landscape. For more information, see the relevant sections
    below.
you could detaild information from this link

  • WPC Transport Mechanism

We have currently 40 users to add content in the Web Page Composer (WPC) tool, but we are preparing for 100+ users when we start converting our existing Intranet content. We are interested in what your experience has been and what may be some lessons learned while using the WPC.
What kind of transport mechanism do you have in place (CTS u2013 manual or automated, ICE)? We would like to allow our users to push their content to PRD when they completed development and testing.
Any ideas or pointers would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

    Simone-
As from our experience. It is best to have content admin for the intranet sites to create there content in production. Make sure they are given permissions only to create and modify content on WPC sites.
Its just content in production. That means they dont break any thing else.  Creating content in Dev and transporting is not advisable. Because users create content every now and then. and they want it to show up immediatetly. It not worth the time spending on transport to.
EG. If user changes one link. You have to actually transport in all system. Which is more easier to change in prod.
Just control the permissions for users and give content admin for that website.
Please follow the link for more info on transporting.

  • Is it possible to select multiple files on the W8.1U1's SEARCH RESULTS window page? For instance, if 10 CPP files are found by the seraching mechanism, can I select all 10 files and have them open in Visual Studio at once?

    TIA.

Brandon, this forum member is known since a long time ago an arrogant (he thinks he knows more than every other) and stupid(*) (full of misconceptions). His first post is a very good example of what I just wrote. How does he dare to suggest to use File
Explorer, if W8.1 already has a system built for doing just this search?  Do I have to open File Explorer in the folder (or somewhere near) the item I'm looking for? What about the other items in folders above it? This suggestion is stupid(*). He even
asserts that I'm using Modern UI! I'm not! I'm using the desktop, but his misconceptions make him write such idiocies(*) with such arrogance: asserting what he doesn't know (arrogancy and stupidity). And more, this guy is no one to say he/he/he to me, because
I know he is what you deleted from my posts, and more, he is often crying, moaning and snivelling like a spoiled child in this forum and messing up any thread posting stupid(*) images of programs imagined/designed/developed by others. All posts from him in
this thread must be trashed (you should do it). He has nothing to contribute POSITIVELY in this thread, but just to MESS IT UP.
(*) stupid, I can write, after all, you didn't delete this word from this ... poster.
Now, look at the first reply: this forum member has no idea how much stupid is his 'work around'. And this 'work around' does not answer my question and even does address the environment I mentioned: W8.1 U1 search results window page, and not File Explorer!
His second post just reassures me he has no idea what is the searching mechanism I'm talking about. He even mentions Win-w(!) which proves he totally ignore what is the searching mechanism I'm talking about. A user like this one, must have many monitors to
keep him busy looking at them, and having excuses for not read and learn technical documentation. It's ignorance about technical aspects of computer issues that makes him post bad bug report and a bad idea in Connect site:
Using Get-Date -Format "CyM" to work around some bugs
    https://connect.microsoft.com/PowerShell/feedback/details/884502/using-get-date-format-cym-to-work-around-some-bugs
Only total ignorance about PowerShell makes someone post such bad 'bug' report. He got critics about his bad post, but I'm sure he doesn't understand.
Column headers for alias should include DisplayName instead of just Name
    https://connect.microsoft.com/PowerShell/feedback/details/908152/column-headers-for-alias-should-include-displayname-instead-of-just-name
In fact, the information displayed is already DisplayName, but this guy has no technical knowledge to understand what is happening.
These 2 forum members just messed up a thread that should be free of negative contributions, besides off topic.
