What Quicktime format do I put my files in?

Hi,
What Quicktime format do I put my videos in (and how) so that my CD burner will reconsie them and allow me to burn them onto a Video CD? I have Mac OS 9.2.2 and Quicktime 6.0.2?

Still not enough info to help - however if you're prepared to leave Quicktime and your burner program, I use the commands below to create KVCD's (to create fully standards compliant VCD's change the audio bitrate to 224 and remove '--quantisation 5 --custom-quant-matrices kvcd' from the mpeg2enc line and change the video bitrate to 1150.
All (I think) of the programs used can be installed through Darmin Ports.
1. Re-encode video to mpeg1 using mplayer and mpeg2enc
<pre>
mkfifo stream.yuv
mplayer -vo yuv4mpeg -ao null -ac dummy -vf scale=352:213,expand=352:288,dsize=352:288 "video.avi"
mpeg2enc stream.yuv --format 2 --aspect 3 --frame-rate 3 --video-bitrate 5000 --nonvideo-bitrate 160 --video-buffer 224 --video-norm p --quantisation 5 --custom-quant-matrices kvcd -o "video q5.m1v"
</pre>
Note: Aiming for bitrates of: video 1099kbps audio 160kbps
2. Re-encode audio to mpeg-layer2 using ffmpeg and toolame
<pre>
ffmpeg -v 0 -i "video.avi" -f wav -vn -ar 44100 - | toolame -m s -b 160 - "audio 160kbps.mp2"
</pre>
3. Mux
<pre>
tcmplex -i "video q5.m1v" -p "audio 160kbps.mp2" -o "video muxed.mpg" -m b
</pre>
4. Build images
Feed the resultant mpeg to VCD Builder (OS X app available at http://homepage.mac.com/johan/)

  • What is best way to put keynote files onto Apple TV?

    I'm trying to get some Keynote presentation files to appear on my Apple TV (I'm studying for a test, and the material is all in Keynote files).
    I recentely figured out how to impor/export the Keynote presentations into an iPhoto format, and I've been able to keep the "builds" intact, which is necessary (most of the slides are in question-answer format).  So far, I've just turned them into .tif files.
    There are two problems I'm encountering:
    The very top of the slide doesn't appear on Apple TV (and it's usually the top of the slide that has the "title" portion).  Can I adjust the image size when importing/exporting?
    The images look a little bit blurry.  Would it work better to make then .jpg files?  (remember - I still need the "builds" to be intact)
    If anybody has any ideas, please let me know.  Thanks!

    The simplest way would be to use AirPlay mirroring from your iPad 2, assuming you haven't used any complex motion, transitions or builds, you won't have to do any worrying about it working.
    If you still want to use photo slides, convert your presentation to one with a 16:9 aspect ratio, the jpg's you produce will then not have the top and bottoms clipped.
    I'm not really sure why it's blurry for you, your text may simply be too small, the resolution is only 720p

  • What HDD format suits PC/OS X file exchange.

    I'm Mac my friend with an Panasonic HVX200 is PC. I format my drives HFS+ usually these days. Is there a disk drive format that can be read on PCs and OS X without extra software on the Mac or PC? Need larger than 4GB file size limitation of FAT32 cause videos files bigs :-)
    I'm doing some direct capture (limited to 720P over FW connection on HVX200) and otherwise capturing of the camera's both into FCP X.
    Capturing live via a BMD UltraStudio miniRecorder that takes HDMI out from my Canon handycam and DSLR to come.
    We want to be able to share cameras and drives. I've read there are 'drivers' or something to mount HSF+ disks on Windows, is that the best way to go or some other format?

    I managed to re-format one drive and it mounts on OS X and Windows 7 now. The second drive keeps failing when I try to reformat it as exFat. I can re-fromat as journalled so it will mount in OS X again but when I re-format as ex-Fat I get an error saying
    Volume Erase failed with the error:
    Couldn’t modify partition map.
    Is there a Terminal tool I can use to reformat the drive?
    (I tried removing the GUID partition using the windows laptop I have on loan but the account I'm in is maybe denying me permission to do it. As it wont mount on windows I can't reformat it using windows using the instructions given by OWC - the manafacturer. Their helpdesk is out of ideas already…)

  • I have my iMovies in QuickTime format on an external drive. Is there anyway to show them from the external drive without putting them into iTunes?

    I havei my personal iMovies in QuickTime format on an external drive. I prefer not to have to import them into my iTunes library which is nearly 1GB already. Is there any way to play them from my MacBook Pro through Apple TV 2 without importing them into iTunes?

    Just wanted to add a little to the excellent comments from those above... I have debated on adding the content to iTunes or just accessing the content through some folder structure.
    What has worked best for me and my family:
    use VideoDrive - http://www.aroona.net/VideoDrive/Home.html to import the videos/tvshows into iTunes and make them in the correct format for my iPad/iPhone/AppleTV devices in the house. This software is cheap and excellent and make the adding of content to iTunes (i everything) easy!
    I store my videos on a usb 2tb drive and my tvshows on a different usb 2tb drive. And I swap a drive out every year or so and give old drive away to family/friends. That way my media drives are new(ish) and 1 drive is never older than 2 years.
    for media that I don't want to add to iTunes I still use AirVideo as it is an excellent piece of software. I also use AirVideo to allow me to access content on my home network over the internet.
    my "media server" is a simple 4 year old intel mac mini with 1 gig of ram best $700 I spent when I first flipped to all things mac. Family now have 2 mbp's, 2 iPads, 4 iphones and 1atv (2nd gen)
    I'm working on a document that shows how I did my setup - if you want to read more please feel free to download my preview - https://files.me.com/lee.gaupp/aq0gst

  • What format should I burn video files in, so I could import it to final cut

    I need to burn video files on a DVD and then upload those files into the final cut pro.
    What format should I use when I burn those files on the DVD?

    Ideally, you should stick with DV -it's already a highly compressed format to begin with and even then it comes in at 13GB per hour. Compressing even further and then converting back to DV to use the files in FCP will have a visible impact on quality.
    A dual layer DVD can hold around 8 GB. They could burn the discs using Toast 9 or 10 which can split larger files across multiple discs.
    If you have lots more, perhaps it would be better to invest in an external laptop drive and put the files on that. There are models that are powered via the FireWire bus, so that would also get around the fact that different voltages are used abroad.

    I am having a problem with files from several programs in my adobe CS6 Master Collection saving in a quicktime format.  I am running a Windows7 PC.  It appears to be happening in both photoshop and fireworks from what I can tell.  Does anybody have any idea why this is doing it and how to fix it?

    Thanks Lyra,
    I may be doing something wrong because looking at the "Purchased" in iBooks I only see all the books that I actually purchased, none of the iBooks that I created in iBooks Author shows up. I can re-download all the iBooks I've purchased and some in iCouds, but the ones I've created  in iBooks Author are no where to be found.
    Any help is much appreciated,
    Best Regards,

  • HT2493 What format can I put for the icon?

    I want to change the boring icon of the folder icon.  But I tried to put the Jpeg format icon and I failed!  What format can I put for the icon?

    Are you trying to change one of the system level folder icons (so that every folder of that type uses your new icon) or specific folder icons for folders you have created?
    The first requires special techniques that modify system level resources & is not recommended unless you know exactly what you are doing.
    The second should work just like in the article.

  • We transferred purchases / synced an iPod touch to a toshiba laptop, and then updated the ipod. we can no longer put the files back onto the ipod. what are we doing wrong]

    we transferred purchases and synced from a iPod touch to a toshiba laptop, after it updated and synced again we have been unable to put the files back onto the ipod. the computer will not let us drag or copy paste files, and when we tried to " export" the library to the documents folder, it only showed up in code.  we have books and music we would like to reload to the ipod.

    Hello Jean164,
    Thank you for using Apple Support Communities!
    It sounds like you are unable to manually put your content back on your iPod Touch.
    It seems like you may need to re enable Manually Manage Music now that the device has been updated, and this article should help with that.

  • TS1424 Some but not all of my purchases from iTunes store (TV shows) have been downloading in a Quicktime format that can't be viewed via iTunes or on apple TV (1st gen).  I get error message when I try to convert.

    Since I have a new iMac and now use Mountain Lion, I am observing that TV shows purchased in iTunes sometimes download in a Quicktime format that will not open in iTunes.  In some but not all cases, I right click "open in" and select iTunes and then it will play.  However, this doesn't always work.  When I open in Quicktime and try to export to iTunes, that won't work.  When I try Wundershare's Video conversation program, it won't even accept the file.  What's going on here?  Any ideas?  Please reply [email protected] with any suggestions.

    Thanks for the help Ricky.
    I did put my iPod into DFU and iTunes recognized it in restore mode. After restore I am back where I was before - iTunes cannot connect because of an unknown error.
    I have installed Jailbreak to see if I can bypass itunes but haven't succeeded. I can't get my computer to recopgnize the iPod as a device.
    I'll take it to a Genius bar next time I am in the area of one. Until then I'll probably continue to try hacks to get it connected.
