what's happening to symbian ..
i'm planning to buy NOKIA E5 .. everybody told me not to .. because nokia will drop support and software and everything for symbian !! , and that they moved Symbian Project to accenture .. !!
that means that development will be droped also !
Everybody adviced me to go to an android phone !
Should I Stop thinking of buying nokia e5 ..??

you could also try the Nokia E6 which has just been announced, E series are generally considered VERY reliable, and have excellent battery life, it's touch and type so you have the best of both worlds, the phone is getting very good reviews on the web.

What is happening in InputStream.Skip method?

Hi,
I need to read inputstream on Nokia 9500 under special circumstances, but the read method crashes because of a nokia implementation bug*. Interrestingly the skip method works correctly. According to MIDP2 API:
The skip method of InputStream creates a byte array and then repeatedly reads into it until n bytes have been read or the end of the stream has been reached. Subclasses are encouraged to provide a more efficient implementation of this method.
If this is true the skip method manages to read the stream that I don't manage to. My question is: is it possible to check somehow what is happening exactly when the skip method is called? Is it a usual java code? Is it public?
If yes I could copy the code from the skip method and avoid the error above.
I would greatly appreciate any pointers in this!

The section, which you are reffering to, describes the behaviour of the skip method from InputStream, but it's quite rare case, where the pure InputStream class is used. More likely implementation overides this method in one of the subclasses because, it's obvious, that more effective techinics can be used fir skip(). So the behavior of the read() & skip() methods is quite different.
In any case there is no way to touch internals of skip() realization.

Didn't put on keypad lock. What has happened to my...

I have a Nokia 1600.
As the title says I didn't put on keypad lock and when it came to making a call I got the message 'Check operator services'. Went over settings and everything fine, I have credit and signal is strong.
What has happened to the phone? How can I fix it? I'm confident the network isn't busy. The website says something about switching from line 1 and 2; has that anything to do with it?

Here in the Philippines, whenever we encounter that error, it means two things:
1. You do not have any network coverage (dead spot).
2. you don't have call credits to make a call.
make sure you have a good signal. and make sure that you still have call credits

I talked with a tech today and he said I cloud is having problems which should be resolved shortly.
In the mean time I used the .me smtp server settings which allowed me to send mail.

What I am ultimately wanting to do is make more room on my computer by backing up all of my files onto the external hard drive and then deleting them off of my computer. However, neededing to be able to retrieve them from the external hard drive later down the road.
From what I have read and am trying to understand, is that I probably shouldn't have used time machine. I need to use the external hard drive like a basic flash drive where I can put things on and get things off without having it automatically update through time machine everytime I connect it to my computer.
Not tech savvy at all and barely understand basics. I need very simple and easy to understand explanations.

What is happening with my new line install?

I don't normally post on anything like this, but feel I am being left no alternative, other than cancelling my order.
I am a new customer to BT and on the 14th of May I placed a order for a broadband and phone package, which was to include a new line installation on the 5th June between 8am and 1pm.
I also ordered a new phone system and dual wifi dongle which all turned up as expected.
On the 5th June I took a day off work and waited until just after 2:30pm for the engineer not to turn up.
I received no call, text or email telling me that the appointment had been cancelled, it took me to call BT and finally manage to get to speak to somebody human to find out that it had apparently been delayed.
First I was speaking to somebody from the UK the next I was put through to order management in India, which started to infuriate me more as the line was really bad and I was calling from my mobile for then to have them hang up on me.
I called back a further 3 times after being passed from pillar to post to eventually get put back in touch with a order management lady in India again.
She told me that the problem was with openreach as they reckoned they had tried calling me on the 14th May (when I placed the order) to which I replied I had not received any phone call from them.
They wanted to know if it was a first or second line installation, I replied 5 times with it is a separate line that needs to be installed and I still don't think she understood after that.
I was then told I would get an update on the 12th June between 8am and 8pm as to when the line was going to get installed, to which I did and again was a bad line as the call came from India just to be told there is another delay which will be the 19th June.
At this point I'm beginning to lose my patience, I had waited nearly a month for the line installation to happen to be told that there was another delay which would take another 7 days before somebody updated me again.
After I put the phone down I received a text from BT sms saying they had tried to contact me but we're unable to do so but not to worry they will be back in contact on the 22nd June?
Very strange seen as I had just spoken to somebody and was told the 19th June.
I rang back through to BT and got put through to India yet again where the signal was poor and asked that somebody call me from the UK as nothing seems to be getting sorted.
Within 10 mins I got a call back and was put through to BT in Dundee, I explained the whole situation over again and was told they would be looking into the problem and would get back to me later on the same day the 12th June.
It is now the 17th June and I still have no answer as to when the line installation is taking place, so I can start using the equipment I have paid for.
if I knew in the first place that this was going to be a problem I would have used a different provider other than BT, as a new customer I find their lack of communication and generally not seeming to give a **bleep** about customers poor, with my only choice then being if I don't get the answers I want on the 19th June I will cancel the order and send everything back for a full refund and would advise others not to use BT in the future.
Sorry for the rant and this being my first post but I am beginning to lose my patience any help would be appreciated.

Once you successfully add you iTunes library to iTunes Match, you go to Settings>iTunes & App Store on your iOS device and turn on iTunes Match. Your iTunes Match library will then appear on your iOS device.

What's happening with my 2ndGen AEX at night? Pings sometimes go over 1000ms!
My Airport Extreme is perfect all day but sometimes late at night my ping goes over 1000ms. Wired or Wifi is the same. There's no rhyme or reason as to when it happens either. Random times and random nights (sometimes several nights in a row, other times not for week or more). Resetting doesn't help, but If I go direct to the modem, pings are around 15-30ms... normal for me. It's been a problem for me for a while now, and I'm not sure if its the latest firmware update that did it. I first noticed it playing my Xbox 360 sometime last summer or fall. The ping times will suddenly (usually around midnight or 1am) be so high that I can't play any multiplayer games. I go to speedtest.net and my ping is anywhere from 500ms to 1118ms is the highest I've seen. If I reset the router, it is fine for a couple minutes and then right back to to the high pings. As I said, the modem is fine when I go direct, so something is causing the Airport Extreme to have trouble. It's not the XB360, cause it also happens with my XB1 and only at night. I play during the day, as well, and have no troubles.
I believe that there are certain programs that can cause this, like Vuze, but this only ever happens when everyone in the house is in bed, and both mine and my wife's laptops will be asleep. I do have a Mac Mini connected to another TV in the house, but the only thing it should be doing at that hour is its hourly Time Machine backup to a USB drive plugged directly into it. I do have a network drive attached to the AEX, but I only use that for manual backups for our laptops, neither of which is being done when this occurs. My wife and I also each have an iPad (the 2 and an Air) and an iPhone 5. Could they somehow be causing this? Maybe an automated iCloud backup occuring at night? Although, I use several devices on my network all day long without this kind of thing happening so I don't know why that would cause this kind of problem. Just to round out my collection, I have to older Airport Expresses as well to extend the network and are mostly used for the audio out.

Test after each of the following steps that you haven’t already tried:
Step 1

If you still have the sleep issue after booting out of safe mode, post again.

I keep seeing people ask and the advice to replace if it has been unplugged, but really have nothing to confirm that from my experiences.
My experience is that a weak or dead battery can cause much more than date and time issues.
I have seen it time and time again.
Deal with used machines and you will quickly learn....
I'll give no "recipe" or set list of symptoms, but the range of irregularities that can occur make it a quick and easy first line of troubleshooting, especially when the machine has been off the mains for a few months.
Why fight mysterious maladies and troubleshoot with the knowledge that the PRAM battery is beyond it's useful life.

Not likely. They are chemically nasty, disposable, one way discharge batteries.

What does "new actualization" mean?
Do you have Restrictions set that world prevent installing those apps? Settings>General>Restrictions

I don't know what yu mean by "screen is out" but try this.
Reboot the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider if it appears on the screen - let go of the buttons. Let the iPad start up.

So, if we have an explicit cursor... we open it with open c_cursor_name... and fetches it into some variable...
my question is - what really happens when we open cursor?
does oracle make only instance of cursor object in memory? or... does it reads some basic data about rows that are going to be fetched (rowid's?)..? or what?
also, if we make some insert into a table that is going to be rolled over by cursor (while cursor is fetching..), should cursor read this new data? for example, what is difference if cursor roll over an indexed ID and we make an insert with an ID=10, and cursor is currently on ID=100? or opposite? (commit included in insert)...

Not really. The same SQL cursor in the shared pool applies.
The difference is on the client side. Each of the methods you've listed is essentially using a different method on the client side to interact with the cursor on the server.
Some methods are more desirable in some cases than another - there's not a single superior method. Each has pros and cons and addresses a specific set of client coding requirements.
There are some preferred methods though on the client. The three primary ones are:
a) use bind variables (enables one to re-use the same SQL cursor)
b) re-use the same client cursor handle for tight loop operations
c) use bulk binding
The first one is kind of obvious - as bind variables creates a cursor "program" that can be called/executed with different values. Like an INSERT cursor for example. The same SQL cursor can be used to insert a million rows, with each execution using different variable values to insert.
The second one is not that applicable to the PL language in PL/SQL - thanks to the integration between the PL and SQL languages. In other client languages though, you want to re-use not only the same server cursor, but the same client cursor handle. As this saves you a soft parse. So instead of this approach:

The last primary factor is bulk processing. This is fairly well documented for the PL language - the important bit to remember that bulk processing is only intended to pass more data with a single call between the PL and SQL engines. Nothing more. The price of which is a bigger PGA memory footprint. Thus there is a balance between how much data (rows/variables) one should pass between the two versus the amount of memory that consumes.

I don't know what has happened but I can't open iPhoto. When I try to open it I receive a caution "The iPhoto Library is locked, on a locked disk, or you do not have permission to make changes to it." How do I solve this??!!

I don't know what has happened but I now can't open iphoto. I get a caution when I try which says the iphoto library is locked! It was working perfectly fine this afternoon until I tried to upload some photos from my camera and my computer started to run very slow and wasn't recognising my camera. What version of iPhoto? Assuming 09 or later...
Option 1
Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild. Choose to Rebuild iPhoto Library Database from automatic backup.
If that fails:
Option 2
Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. This will create a new library based on data in the albumdata.xml file. Not everything will be brought over - no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your albums and keywords back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one. .
