I found a file with the name [email protected] in $oracle_home/dbs.
I deleted it and my oracle works as usual.
What's the use of this file?

I hope you took a backup of that file before zapping it. As a rule, it's a very bad idea to just delete a file in the Oracle directory to see whether anything breaks.
If you had read the documentation you would have discovered that [email protected] is part of the RMAN configuration. So your database will continue to work up until the point you try to use RMAN to recover it. If you don't use RMAN then you probably won't miss that file.

Do you understand how to make the Slider work using code to read its value? You will need to look into that in order to do this.
What you can do is have the yello rectangle be a movieclip that sits over the red rectangle and use the Slider to control the yellow rectangle's alpha property from 0 to 1. That way the yellow will gradually fade as you slide.

Means you are missing a class file from the class path. Most likely cause is a missing jar file. The Apache Commons utilities often have dependancies on other Commons projects. This looks like it is looking for the Apache Commons IO jar file. Download the jar file and add it to the WEB-INF/lib directory.

Package question - what are the uses for /var/sadm/pkg ?

I'm writing packages and noticed once a packages is installed using pkgadd, that files and dirs are created in the /var/sadm/pkg directory. I'm specificly intereseted in the pkginfo file - it contains all the variables from my request script and their values. My question is what are all the uses for this file?
I've noticed that pkginfo reads from it but would there be any problem deleting certain lines from that file (lines not used by pkginfo - just variables used in the request script that I'd really rather not have floating around in a publicly accessable file).

I'm refering specificly to the file "/var/sadm/pkg/<pkgName>/pkginfo" - it's created during pkgadd and contains all the variable-value pairs from the packages pkginfo file as well as any variables used in the request script and copied to it's temporary response file. I'm not refering to the pkginfo file that you create as a package infofile component.
I want to remove, from the /var/sadm/pkg/<pkgName>/pkginfo file, certain var-value pairs that were used in my request scripts (not part of the InfoFile/pkginfo component). Otherwise, any user can look at this file or run 'pkgparam <pkgName>' and get that sensative info.
To the best of my knowledge, this file is only used by the commands pkgparam and pkginfo. Are there other uses?
My worries are:
-is it OK to remove lines manually during the postinstall script?
-will doing this cause problems with any admin or package maintenance functions?

In openscript, when recording, there is the possibility to Inspect Path, capture object then add it to library.
I did this for some textbox in a page.
And then ?
what is the use of this functionality ? I ask because I am sure that if it has been developped, it must have help much for automation.
- I saw that it can be used in "Test Object"
- but it cannot be used in Get/Set Variable ?
- is there other way to use my library objects ?

Object libraries are used to store the path to an Object, lets say that you have 40 scripts and they all use a login button, then one day a developer changes that button and the form and calls it something else, the path to that element will have changed and therefore OpenScript will no longer find it meaning that all the 40 scripts will fail, Then you would have 2 solutions
1) Update each single script with the new path.
2) Store the path to an object library and edit 1 script, all the other scripts as they are looking at the same library will be updated automatically.

I can't imagine any worse workflow than converting to JPEG to edit text, then back to PDF. Text in a PDF is a vector thing, smooth at all resolutions. And JPEG is made for photos. EVERY conversion to JPEG and back loses quality but how much loss there is will vary.
If you must go to an image format, try PNG.

Firefox keeps asking me what program to use to open file types even though I have selected one and checked "do this for all files of this type" going foward

I am working in Windows and every time I open an attachment, Firefox asks what program to use to open files of this type. I always select the proper program and then check the box that says use this program for all future files of this type. In spite of that, the program continues to ask for every file. How do I turn off this feature and just have the program remember the correct program to use for each type of file extension?
