Whatsapp should work fine.
Doing the upgrade over iTunes will give you the opportunity to make a full backup of your phone first, and will most likely provide for a faster and smoother upgrade. I'd do it that way, and will once I get home later tongith.

Hi -
I purchased an audio book using my MBPro (running 10.8.5).
Now I want to move it to my iPhone5 (iOS 7.0.2).
So I open iTunes (11.1.1), plug in my iPhone and wait for the sync interface to show so I can manually select what songs, photos, audiobooks I want to the iPhone - but that interface is not to be found!
The only place I could find the word "iPhone" any where on the iTunes skin was the eject button.
The only menu items was under File/Devices where I got to choose "sync iPhone" - but that's it. No choices, no selections.
Itunes proceeded to back up the iPhone and "sync" but I had no chance to make any changes. I really dont know how much stuff got moved around.
I do know the new audiobook did not get moved to the iPhone.
What am I missing? Is there a new button somewhere that I didn't see?
Wnat is the proceedure for manually deciding what to sync FROM the Mac TO the iPhone??

Once your iPhone starts its sync, do you see a small button showing your iPhone here?

Close all open apps by double-tapping the home button, then swiping up and off the screen with the app window (not the smaller icon).
Reset your device: hold down the home button along with the sleep/wake button until the screen goes black and you see the Apple, then let go. (No data loss)

Hi, I really don't feel the iPad like before the upgrade, do you feel the same?
The screen sliding is inconsistent, the wifi connections is sometime intermittent.
The control center music app controls get stuck, generally the transitions are slower than before!
Am I the problem or the new iOS release?

So far my iPad 3 has run perfect(knock on wood). Try a Restart.
Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button for a few seconds until the red "slide to power off" slider appears, and then slide the slider. Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button until the Apple logo appears.

You can also try resetting all settings. Settings>General>Reset>Reset All Settings. You will have to enter all of your device settings again.... All of the settings in the settings app will have to be re-entered. You won't lose any data, but it takes time to enter all of the settings again.

I'm happy for you. But that doesn't help those many of us who DO have problems. I have been working on this issue for a week now, full steam, trying to do everything everyone suggests. But nothing works. I know it's got to do with the upgrade and certain iPhones, because everyone who is experiencing this highly unusual battery drain reports that it started after upgrading to ios6 or when they got a new iPhone 5 with the upgrade installed. Not everyone. But enough of us so as to be a real, not imagined, problem. Apple has told several of us that they are trying to fix it in the next upgrade. So it is a bonifide issue.
Just be happy you don't have the problem.

What do I have to do to stop fb crashing on ios7 ipad

Ever since the ios7 update, Facebook app just seems to be getting worse when it comes to how often it crashes. It also takes longer than it did to load photos and other things. I looked online at the Facebook reviews in the App Store and a LOT of other people are having the same problem. This would be on my ipad. My wireless at home is fine and quick. My laptop (HP) works just fine with speed.
Is there a way to go back to what you had before ios7?

Delete the Facebook app and reinstall it. And no you can not go back to ios6 after you install ios7.

Video Sharing - Videos upload issue to Vimeo because files are now too large post iOS7.

Videos taken prior to iOS7 update uploaded without issues to Vimeo. Vidoes taken after iOS7 update will not upload because videos are too large. I am videoing the same type of activities for the same duration post iOS7 as I was pre-iOS7. What has changed with iOS7 that is causing my videos to be saved as larger files? This is a HUGE issue for what I do! HELP PLEASE!!

You're going to have to edit them on a computer before uploading them, unless you can convince Vimeo to change their limits.

No preview on some Excel after iOS7 upgrade

Hello all,
I manage/support the iPhones for our company. One of our users decided to migrate his iPhone 5 from iOS6 to iOS7 on his own accord this week... and now he has this weird bug in the mail application: When he receives Excel spreadsheets from someone he's used to getting files from, the preview of the file opens for about 10 seconds, then closes.
Does anyone know what has changed in iOS7 that would cause a break in compatibility with MS Office files? The file is generated by a user on Windows XP 32bit (I know...) using Office (Excel) 2010. As I said, under iOS6, he could preview the same files without a problem.
Any help would be welcome.

OK, I think I found a solution:
My language of the iPad is different from the language I speak. Hence the notation of phone numbers is also different.
Your Apple ID is used in a certain country with its own notation of phone numbers: Settings>Messages>Send&Receive>Apple ID. Tap your Apple ID and then tap Change Location to find out which locattion iMessage set to.
Then go to Settings>General>International>Language. Set the language according to your language iMessage is set to. Also, change the Region Format to the location of iMessage.
Restart the iPad and for my all my contact names appeared, instead of their phone numbers. Now all is set and you can change your language and region format back, still keeping your contact names in iMessage.

Can I use MachineID.getBytes() or MachineID.getUniqueID() as a unique identifier?

The bytes from MachineID.getBytes() are not to be treated as a unique identifier for a device. It is unique, but is volatile and not suitable to be used as an identifier. There are various system/hardware events which can cause the MachineID bytes to change over time. The same rule applies to MachineID.getUniqueID(). If you do .getBytes() and then compare that to AnotherMachineID.getBytes(), even though they can be the same device (but different runtime or browser), you will get a "false" if you're doing a direct byte-by-byte comparison. This is because during the device individualization process, the device's hardware attributes are interrogated to get a hardware "fingerprint" of the device. This is stored as a data structure in the MachineID data structure.
The only resilient way (with limtiations, as stated in the next section) to compare to different devices to determine if they are the same device is to use MachineID.matches(). That comparison is resilient against machine hardware upgrades (changing hard drives, upgrading your video card, upgrading your CPU, reformatting your machine, changing user accounts, using different browsers, etc…).
(NOTE): There are 2 known limitations to using MachineID.matches():
1. MachineID in the Chrome browser (on any platform) a randomly-generated ID string that is not tied to the hardware. The reason for this is that with the release of Chrome Version 28 browser introduced a sandbox, where code in the browser is not allowed to communicate directly with the hardware layer. This will cause .matches() to fail if comparing a MachineID from Chrome against a MachineID from Firefox, even from the same machine. This also means that if a user "resets Adobe Access DRM/Licenses", they will lose their ID, and it will be re-generated (as a new ID) the next time DRM content is consumed and their machine has to create a new MachineID.
2. A similar limitation applies to iOS devices running iOS7 and higher, as a sandbox was also introduced to that platform, preventing applications from directly accessing the hardware. If you are using iOS7 with a the Primetime Player SDK (PSDK) 1.0 or 1.1, the MachineID for all devices will be the same value, as Apple blocked the device-access APIs (which Adobe Access uses) and caused them to return a static string. Since all iOS7 devices will return the same string when the device hardware interrogation happens, all iOS7 devices using the the PSDK 1.1 or earlier will return true when MachineID.matches() is called. Adobe is working on a high-priority fix to this issue, which will be released in a PSDK 1.1 patch/hotfix, where another persistent API is used to bind the MachineID to the device, instead of the blocked device-access APIs. This new binding mechanism will be persistent across application uninstall/re-installs.
What is consistent between iOS7 and Chrome 28 (and higher), is that the MachineID will no longer be tied to the hardware attributes of the device.

In case you would like to find some way to do something that requires concurrency monitoring (e.g. You run a service and wish to limit the # of devices that can access a your service), the best way to do this would be to move towards a "# of concurrent streams" model, similar to Netflix.
To do this, you can use Adobe Pass technology called Mai Tai, or implement your own technology (via cookies or authentication tokens) to limit user accounts to no more than XX concurrent streams.

Email notifications per email account, and bundled together? (former Android user)

Hello there,
I made the switch from an old HTC Android to the new iPhone 5S two weeks ago and the one thing I cannot configure to my liking is email notifications in the notification center. I have multiple email accounts that recieve a moderate volume of emails on most of my accounts per day and need a quick way to view the activity of a given email account, not the app. I currently use two email apps as follows:
Mail - iOS7 native app
x2 Exchange email accounts
x1 Windows Live email account
x1 Yahoo email account
Gmail App
x2 Gmail email accounts
I have configured the notification center to notify me for all but the yahoo email account. The problem I have is that the notificaiton center only shows X number of recent emails (selected in settings) the APP has recieved, and does not say which email account it is, or how many extra emails on top of X that I selected were recieved. My phone is on silent 24/7 and the only vibrates for phone calls and text messages. I will periodically check the notification center throughout the day and use it as a summary of what has happend since the last time I checked.
On my Android, each email account would have two lines in the Android Notification center. The first unread email on an account would use those two lines to tell you the subject line, time recieved, email account, the total number of unread emails, and the app. Once that account gets two or more emails, it simplifies to say the number of new messages, time the last one was recieved, the email account, the total number of unread emails, and the app. What is really nice about that setup is that each email account had two lines in the notification center, no matter what, and at a quick glance I can see which email accounts are really acitve and I probably need to check on. If one email account was really active and I wanted to check on it, I could select the single notification for that account and it would take me to the (already updated) inbox where I can quickly browse to see what all the emails are about. At this point it may sound like it is just different and I just need to get used to the iOS7 interface, but let me share an example where iOS7 lets me down, and Android has done well for the last couple years:
During M-F from 8-6, my two exhange accounts and one of my gmail accounts are the only accounts I care about. One exchange account receieves 5-20 emails per hour, and the other exchange account might recieve 1-5 per day. Only a small percentage of those 5-20 emails need a priority response, but the account that gets 1-5 per day are emails that I need to know about and respond to right away. What happens in the iOS7 notification center is that I may not even see a notification for the email account that gets 1-5 emails per day, and if I do, it only tells me the sender, subject line, and some of the body if I allow more than 2 lines - it does not specify which email account it was sent to. I can choose 1, 5, or 10 emails to be displayed for the Mail App in settings, but the 5-20 emails I recieve can bump the 1 important email from the one account out of the notification center.
Is there a way to configure notifications per email account, and bundle all the recieved emails (by saying "# New Messages" or similar) on a given account into 2-4 lines? My ultimate goal here is to not lose a notification on one account due to the high volume of another, but to also keep them concise enough that I don't need to scroll through a massive list of notifications like one giant inbox.
I would appreciate any tips or advice to configure the notification center better for my use case. Thank you!

Yeah.. I have problems with all apps that have notifications.
Forget the Google Gmail example.. I'll use imo, Groupme, and Facebook as examples.
I see the notifications. But when I open the app, it won't show the newest received messages. It will take a few second before the app would refresh.
With my Android experience, all apps would update with the new information in the background. It appears that even though the apps are running in the background in iOS, the actual app appears to be paused until you reopen the app. That's when the app will refresh with the new information.
