Be careful of the Verbatim 16 X DVD-R. I just made 14 Coasters before I got the correct answer from Pioneer who supplied the DVD 104 Super Drive on my Mac even though I installed an A227 firmware update.
They will not burn reliably on my g-4 mac when running Mac OS 10.4.5. I can not burn these DVDs using Toast 7.02.
I have no problem with HP 8X DVD-RW or DVD-R though.
I checked with Pioneer on this and they were helpful explaining the inability of that drive to handle that disk with the present firmware version.

  • What command can be run from the cmd to inquire about the language layout that is used right now?

I have windows 7 32bit platform. Is there any command that can be run from the command line just to inquire about the language bar that is currently in use? Suppose I have English keyboard on my machine but I am switching between 3 languages when I write
my documents (e.g. English, German, Spanish). I want to know if there is any way to tell what language layout that is in current use as seen in the language bar. This question is not about how to change language layout from the command line -- just to know
what layout. For example, the command can return some sort of string to indicate which layout is currently in use: "english", "german", "spanish", and so on.
My ultimate goal from this question is to pass this output into an external editor that will hopefully change font based on the input language? Any help to achieve this goal will be much appreciated.
Or put differently, what is the best way to tell an external editor like Emacs about the current language layout that is in current use?

For the current input language you can try using
    reg query "HKCU\Keyboard Layout\Preload" /v 1
The return value includes an eight digit hex value. The first four digits indicate either default layout for the language (all zeros) or a variation (non-zero). The last four digits are the locale id - see:
    http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/goglobal/bb964664.aspx
From this table, you can see in the example above my input language is English - Australia.
For the keyboard layout you could try
    WMIC Path Win32_Keyboard Get Layout
0409 is an English - US keyboard.
For a few other ideas/methods try reading

  • What speed can I expect?

    Hello there,
I recently brought the Infinity 2 package, which is due to be active on the 24th.
The speed is advertised upto 75mb.
What speed would I be looking at getting? I only manage 4mb with Sky and am someway from the exchange.
My friend gets 50mb and lives about a mile up the road, would I be getting there or there abouts?
I'd be delighted at anything over 20mb to be honest, but 50mb would be awesome.
The exchange i'm on is Langley Mill and I live in Heanor.
    Thanks.
    Grant

  • After burning 3 dvds, got error 0x80020022 on MATSHITA DVD-R   UJ-845 Drive. Used 1x speed. iMac G5 PowerPC

    MATSHITA DVD-R   UJ-845:
    Error message: 0x80020022.
Got this after burning 5 other discs. Two of which didn't burn and ejected. When I inserted them again, they did not appear on desktop. Had to use Disc Utility to eject them.   After those two issues, this message showed up when re-trying the burn process.
What must I do to get this drive to burn the discs?

Thanks for the info.  I have another question pertaining to your answer:  "What speed would be best to use so the drive doesn't become HOT--- lowest speed for a longer period of time. . . OR . . . at a faster speed for a lesser time?
Also, I tried using it half-hour later and got same result.  I then waited 1 hour longer and it worked then.
Thanks to all letting me know to cool it off!

  • Imac dual core what os can it run

I just upgraded to a MacBook Pro and have an old IMAC Intel Dual Core
What OS could be loaded on it that would still get security patches.
It still runs great and I would hate to throw it in the trash

Is it a Core 2 Duo? There is no Intel 2 Duo.
You are extremely limited with the amount of RAM that is presently installed. To properly run Lion, Mt Lion or Mavericks you should have at least 4GBs of RAM. Apple states a minimum of 2GBs but that is the bare minium and any system with only 2GBs will run SLOW.
In any event before you can upgrade to any of the newest OS X versions you'll need to instal Snow Leopard 10.6.3 and update that to 10.6.8.

  • What speed can our Phone Line support?

We're thinking of going for up to 20mb broadband service, at the moment we're on 8.
    Link Information
    Uptime:1 day, 2:53:30
    DSL Type:G.992.5 annex A
    Maximum Bandwidth (Up/Down) [kbps/kbps]:975 / 3,188
    Bandwidth (Up/Down) [kbps/kbps]:979 / 2,288
    Data Transferred (Sent/Received) [kB/kB]:0.00 / 0.00
    Output Power (Up/Down) [dBm]:12.0 / 19.0
    Line Attenuation (Up/Down) [dB]:17.0 / 33.5
    SN Margin (Up/Down) [dB]:13.0 / 13.0
    Vendor ID (Local/Remote):TMMB / BDCM
    Loss of Framing (Local/Remote):0 / 0
    Loss of Signal (Local/Remote):0 / 0
    Loss of Power (Local/Remote):0 / 0
    Loss of Link (Remote):0
    Error Seconds (Local/Remote):0 / 0
    FEC Errors (Up/Down):4 / 426
    CRC Errors (Up/Down):4 / 3
    HEC Errors (Up/Down):76,838 / 1
That's our infomation from our o2 Wireless Box, though if we get up to 20mb we're thinking of switching to BT
    Questions:
What will our estimated speed be? And, how much can our phone line support? Thanks

Hi, looking at your information and using this http://www.kitz.co.uk/adsl/max_speed_calc.php you should hope to get around 13Mb with an optimum line particularly if the Noise margin (SN Margin) was set to 6dB.
Yours is currently set at 13db which is why your connection is low, some isp's set this hign to maintain line stability.
    DSL Type:G.992.5 annex A this tells me your on a 21CN connection that's adsl2+.
You could also use the BT site http://www.productsandservices.bt.com/consumerProducts/displayTopic.do?topicId=25633&s_intcid=con_in... and check your possible/maybe connection.

  • New Build FTTP - What speeds can I expect?

Moving into a new build towards the end of the year. The spec sheet of the house is detailed as having: "Broadband via Fibre to the Premises FTTP via BT Openreach"
Just trying to gauge what kind of speeds I'd be expecting to get... Based on the postcode it looks like we'd be in between the Armadale and Bathgate exchanges with Armadale having FTTP enabled and Bathgate having FTTC enabled, although I'd suspect we're probably closer to the Bathgate exchange.
Obviously no information about what cabinets we'd likely be connected to as of yet.

If your new property is being installed with FTTP then the speeds with FTTP isn't effected by distance from the exchange like ADSL broadband and nor is it effect by distance from the cabinet like FTTC broadband.
The speeds you can get with FTTP depends on what service level you get. The current highest sercice level with FTTP is up to 330mbps downstream and up to 30mbps upstream

  • What issues can i run into using HR_PSBUFFER_INITIALIZE

    Hi
we are going to add FM "HR_PSBUFFER_INITIALIZE" with "HR_INFOTYPE_OPERATION", for improving the perofrmance...as this FM is buffering the data and doing some EXPORT to memory. The result of this is that after a few hundred calls to HR_INFOTYPE_OPERATION the buffer gets big enough to impact the performance of the function module. After thousand of updates with HR_INFOTYPE_OPERATION , each call will take many seconds and your ABAP program will be unusable.
but i am concerned looking at [this thread|; ...can someone elaborate on issues we may face with using HR_PSBUFFER_INITIALIZE?
Especially in the above thread it is said that
it wrecks havoc when we are trying to update records which are related to eachother
this is little unclear, what does it mean?
    thanks in advance

  • What command can I run to see what ports are being used?

I am trying to connect to citrix and I am receiving a message saying port 999 already in use.
    How can I fix this?
    Thanks,
    JS

I don't know about commands but in your application/utilities folder there is an application called Network Utility that can scan your ports. I don't have any real experience with it but if it seems confusing try accessing the help files for the utility in the help menu and maybe that will ease the confusion.

  • Can i run and work with OSX 10.3.9 on an external hard drive???

    Hi There all,
I'm getting a 250gb External firewire HDD, i want to do this:
I want to install Tiger on my PowerBook's HDD, But everything i've got on it now with Panther is perfect, but some of the software is'nt compatible with Tiger, so i was hoping i could save everything (Panther, Software & files) on to the external HDD and when i want to use panther through the External drive and have tiger on the internal drive, so effectively have to useable OS's, the reason i need to upgrade is to use the latest FCEHD.
    Any help much appreciated.
    - Mike

    Hi Niel,
So say the space used on my PowerBook is 55Gb, if i make a Partition on the External drive that's about 80GB, can i then, use Panther through the External drive and add to it aswell, but keep the rest of the drive for use in tiger, if that makes sense.
    thanks for the quick reply

  • G3 and what OS can I install

G3 flower version, what OS can I run I have a PowerPC 750 (G3) 400 MHz with 256 mb ram. it has cd only no DVD, I am a little new to macs. what can I install and also where can I get it?

    G3 flower version
If it's a +Flower Power+ (case has colorful flower-like pattern), it should be 500 MHz (unless the motherboard was swapped). Here is no information about that model.
    http://www.everymac.com/systems/apple/imac/stats/imac500_fpbd.html
It's a good iMac G3 model, but you may NOT want to invest too much money into it at this point. Even if you max it out to 1GB RAM (2 x 512mb), put in a bigger hard drive, and install the latest supported software, it will still not handle everything you need a computer to do these days. If you understand the limitations, it can certainly be useful. But if you are expecting it to play YouTube videos in high-res full screen, you will be frustrated. And if you spend $300 on software and hardware upgrades, you are half way to a new Mac mini that come with the latest hardware and software.
Having said that, you can install up to Tiger (Mac OS X 10.4.11). More RAM would be good to have with Mac OS X. You will have to get a copy of Tiger on eBay or other online source. You need to get a disc that is from a retail package. A retail disc is black with a big silver X. Unfortunately, retail discs for Tiger are usually on DVD, and a CDROM set is hard to fine these days. You can also run Panther (Mac OS X 10.3.9). The retail Panther came on a set of three CDROMs. In either case, do not get a disc that came with another Mac model (usually grey in color); they usually do not work on a different model. I would not get a version of Mac OS X before Panther.
You can also run Mac OS 9, version 9.1 or later.
Does it currently have an install OS?
