Hello people...
Somebody have a pointer that teaches how to work with Scanner, or everybody fells like me, as this API just don't work well!!!?
At this right moment I have the same JAR file, run something at linux and work well, but when at windows got an exception...

    What does "{ts '..'}" mean? Is it a SQL generation error?
    Thank you in advance.

    I've created my own dictionary with dateToSQL() method overridden.
    Now it works fine. But it's a kind of strange. Oracle is used often and my
    JDBC drivers
    are the most recent (at least, from the oracle.com).
    Anyway, thank you again.

    Patric,
    Thank you for response.
    We're using Oracle 8.1.7 via OCI driver from Oracle 9.2.
    I've already tried 2.4.0 and it works fine there but I've found another
    problem there
    preventing me from using it. See my post in solarmetric.kodo.betanewsgroup.

    That's odd -- what version of Oracle are you using?
    Moving to Kodo JDO 2.4.0
    (http://www.solarmetric.com/Software/beta/2.4.0) will almost certainly
    get rid of this problem, as we use exclusively prepared statements in
    it, and therefore pass dates etc. to JDBC as parameters.
    But, to get things working with your Oracle database and Kodo JDO 2.3,
    you could create your own extension of OracleDictionary and override the
    dateToSQL() method to generate the appropriate TO_DATE() syntax. See our
    documentation for more details on creating custom database dictionaries.

    How do you get System date onto a Date variable?Calendar.getInstance().getTime() returns a java.util.Date for the current time. You can also use System.currentTimeMillis() and turn it into a Date.
    Will date.after(Date when) method work when Date
    variables are in milisecs?Date.after(Date when) compares two date objects. As the JavaDoc says "Returns:
    true if and only if the instant represented by this Date object is strictly later than the instant represented by when" To me that says that milliseconds are taken into account, I.E. comparing dates actually compares the date plus the time portion.
    >
    What methods-
    *Convert a date(dd/mm/yy) to milisec?If you look in the javaDoc you'll see "long getTime() Returns the number of milliseconds since January 1, 1970, 00:00:00 GMT represented by this Date object." Calendar also has the getTimeInMillis() method.
    *Convert a milisec value to a date(dd/mm/yy)?Calendar.setTimeInMillis(long);
    I'm have this little problem.
    When using GregorianCalander-
    *need to initialize?
    *need set today's date?Calendar.getInstance() will return an appropriate Calendar object for the current locale initialized to the current date/time.
    *how do you check if a date exceeds 3 weeks?I'm not sure what you mean. There are a couple of roll(...) methods that will allow you to add a unit of time to a date. I.E. you could add three weeks to a date.
    To ignore the time portion of a date just set the time to "00:00"

  • The import "java.util.scanner" is not vaild

    I am experiment with the java.util.scanner API after compiling the code below I received the following error:
    The import "java.util.Scanner" is not valid, since it does not name a type in a package.
    I declared a string variable should that suffice?

    System.out.println ("hey you entered: \"" + message + "\"");
    }

    Most IDEs let you select and installed JDK for them to use. Check out that IDE's preferences.
    Otherwise, start here and learn to do it with a simple text editor or programmer's editor, and the command line.

  • What the hell is going on with my MERGE statement

    Hi Guys,
    I maybe posted this to the wrong forum - appreciate it if you would take a look and let me know what you think.
    What the hell is going on with my MERGE statement
    Regards,
    Mark.

    The problem exists in the statement in bold. The inline view of the merge
    returns 11808 rows and should only perform 11808 lookups on the index
    on TBL_INSTRUMENT to determine whether or not to insert a row. It is
    doing 1393981363 !!Do you have accurate statistics on these tables? Have you got histograms on skewed columns?
    Also, given that you are only acting on WHEN NOT MATCHED are you sure MERGE is the way to go? A straightforward insert driving off a NOT EXISTS sub-query or an anti-join might be a much better approach.
    Cheers, APC

  • What the hell is going on with flash lately!?!?

    I'm using firefox on Windows 8 x64 and even after the updates i can't watch a video without going nuts! IMDB trailers no longer work without freezing my browsers, youtube videos won't allow to change quality without freezing or stutering as hell, so WHAT THE HELL ADOBE!??

    If I go to Mozilla support/forum page and search 'Windows 8' there are many issues listed there:
    http://support.mozilla.org/en-US/search?esab=a&q=windows+8
    There might be some information about a workaround in FF option setting there. I personally don't have any info specific for Windows 8 + FireFox + Flash Player compatibility issue but it I hear something, I'll bring it here. Meanwhile please try to use other browsers to see if same issue can be seen.

    it run properly.

  • Regex & java.util.Scanner

    I am trying to make a simple txt parser using regular expressions but the problem has
    appeared.
    The program's code is too long so I have stated only the part of the code implementing

    The reason you're only matching two items is because you're reading the file one line at a time and applying the regex once per line. As Tim said, you can fix that by using while instead of if, but the real problem is much deeper: you're trying to write a scanner in the sense of a lexical analyzer, and that isn't what java.util.Scanner is for. I strongly recommend you start over, this time using Pattern and Matcher directly, not Scanner. If you happen to have a copy of MRE 3ed, there's an example of what you're trying to do on page 400. (Unfortunately, Friedl has just moved back to Japan, and hasn't had time to update the book's web site, or I could point you to the code online.) I don't have time to go into this right now, but you should pay particular attention to the find(int) method and the \G anchor.

  • Help with java.util.Random

    Problem:
    I wanna generate random number in interval <0;1> with two "decimal number precision" (i dont know, how to expres it exactly in English.. So, here is Patern: "*X.XX*" (For ex. it might be numbers like 0.24 , 1.00 , 0.05, 0.54) ).
    I have tried to work with java.util.Random class, but i dont understood it at all, because i'm not good in Math-English terms.
    So, how can I do it? I offer duke stars for any solve. Thanks.

    First of all, read this link to understand why all floating point numbers (float, double) can't be rounded to two places of decimals.
    [What Every Computer Scientist Should Know About Floating-Point Arithmetic|http://docs.sun.com/source/806-3568/ncg_goldberg.html]
    Consider changing your program to use integer numbers in the range of [0..100] instead. You can generate a random number in this range byRandom random = new Random();
    int randomInt = random.nextInt(101);If your problem can't be solved with this approach, you may need to tell us exactly how you plan to further process the random number.

  • Error when importing java.util.Scanner

    Agh! I'm in an introduction to computer science course, and I am writing a program as an assignment that's due tomorrow.
    I have imported java.util.Scanner before, but I've only run it on the Windows PCs in the lab, whereas I am currently on a Mac. I've updated to the latest version of Java (through the software update), and I'm running Tiger (also fully updated).
    I'm using Dr. Java to write the programs, but I tried using the very same thing in Eclipse and it didn't work. Here's my program:
    import java.util.Random;
    import java.util.Scanner;
    public class Password {
    public static void main(String[] args) {
    //create a Scanner object to read from the keyboard:
    String password;
    Scanner scanner = new Scanner(System.in);
    Random randomizer = new Random();
    System.out.println("Please enter a string containing candidate characters.");
    String input = scanner.next();
    int charLength = length(input);
    System.out.print("Random password: ");
    System.out.print(input.substring(randomizer.nextInt(charLength)));
    System.out.print(input.substring(randomizer.nextInt(charLength)));
    System.out.print(input.substring(randomizer.nextInt(charLength)));
    System.out.println(input.substring(randomizer.nextInt(charLength)));
    And, here's my errors:

    Ok. I figured it out. On the Dr. Java page, this is what helped me:
    Please verify the following:
    - Open "/Applications/Utilities/Java/J2SE 5.0/Java
    Preferences";
    make sure "J2SE 5.0" is at the top of the list under
    "Java
    Application Runtime"
    - Open DrJava; go to Edit->Preferences; make sure
    "Tools.jar
    Location", "JSR-14 Location", and "JSR-14
    Collections Path"
    are all blank
    - Open the Help->About dialog box; make sure the "DrJava
    Version" listed is 20050601-0007 or later (that is, later
    than
    June 1, 2005)
    - Go to the "System Properties" tab in the
    "About" box; make
    sure "java.version" is 1.4.2.
    Let us know what you find out if you're still having

  • Crawling the Web with Java

    Hi everyone.
    I've been trying to learn how to make a web crawler in java following this detailed albeit old tutorial: http://www.devarticles.com/c/a/Java/Crawling-the-Web-with-Java/
    The SearchCrawler class they feature can be found in two parts:

    Second part: http://www.devarticles.com/c/a/Java/Crawling-the-Web-with-Java/4/
    I don't want to copy and paste the code because it is really long and an eyesore if viewing here.
    I get a lot of errors when compiling of which I do not understand. The majority of the errors (62 of them to be precise) are "class, interface or enum expected" errors, with the remaining few being "illegal start of type" and "<identifier> expected" errors.
    Can someone here perhaps take a look at it and compile it and see if they also get the same errors? I realise it is an old tutorial but there are hardly any detailed resources I can find for java web crawlers.
    Thanks.

    Odd I can't seem to log into my account. Never mind.
    I have used java before, the problem here I suppose is I'm not good enough to spot what's the problem. The code seems fine bracket wise and it has really left me stumped.
    If someone code put it in their editor and attempt to compile and see if I'm not the only one that's having a problem.. that would be much appreciated.
    For your convenience... the code from the example I linked:

  • Java 7 update 51 cause the following error: java.util.HashMap cannot be cast to java.awt.RenderingHints

    Since I installed Java 7 update 51 accessing the EMC VNX Unisphere Console cause the following error: java.util.HashMap cannot be cast to java.awt.RenderingHints.
    I rolled back to Apple Java 1.6 -005 now I am getting the following error: plug-in failure.
    I think this is cused by the fact that the EMC console application has been written for java 7 and not java 6. Has anybody faced and solved the "java.util.HashMap cannot be cast to java.awt.RenderingHints." error ?

    Hi Yaakov,
    The error is thrown from the  eclipselink.jar:2.5.1 which is a JPA provider .
    Is the above jar bundled in the Oracle Product you are working upon or was this downloaded from external site ?
    If the jar is bundled with the Oracle Product, go ahead a log a SR with Oracle Support with Toplink product group to drill down on the issue, as the issue is happening internally or thrown by the Eclipselink implementation and we've no control....
    Hope it helps!!
    Thanks,
    Vijaya

  • What the hell went wro

    I have never had any problems with my Zen Xtra 30 gig. Turned on last night, nothing, no tracks nothing. Hooked it up to download the tracks again, nothing, the MP3 links up and shows it's coupled to the PC and will autosync. but when I try to down load, I get the error message
    Unable to create file, restart player and start again.
    I have tried this, resetting the player, uncouple and recouple but still the same problem.
    What the hells going on?
    Rob

    First of all, relax & don't say bad words on this forum
    Try to access Rescue Mode on Your player & perform the "Cleanup" function. This is the best thing to do in this situation. Don't worry, cleanup will not delete songs on your player if they still ali've. Go to the Caterina's thread at the very top of the thread list to figure out how to do that. Good luck
