What to do with Domain Whilst Waiting for Site Development?

I have my hosting set up, my domains are registered but I am not ready to go live for a few weeks.
What should I do in the mean time?
Put up an "It's on its way!" message?
Put up a contact form and an "It's on its way!" message?
Nothing?
Thanks
Martin

Hi Martin
It would depend on what content you have.
Initially, I would recommend a custom 404 page with brief details of what is happening, similar to a 'site under construction' but actually with an explanation of what is to come. After all until the site is indexed by search engines no one should actual have the www address, but do not forget to update this page once you actually upload the site.
If you know what is to be included and have some details, then upload a 'holding' page with this content including any search engine terms/meta info, this way you can at least submit the site/page too the search engines, thus giving your client an advantage with the site being indexed by the search engine. Remember it does not have to be a full design at this point, just something to start the procedure.

• What's up with "...waiting" for a download on iTunes?

I have three songs in the iTunes store that have the above message. They have been there several months. I go to the "purchased but not downloaded" link and it's empty. In fact, it's quite possible these are songs that I transferred from a purchased CD years ago. I think (think) this occurred right after I switched to iCloud for my backup. Thoughts?

Hey there Tom Perkins1,
It sounds like you have 3 downloads that seem to never get out of the Waiting stage. I would recommend starting by deleting the songs from your iTunes library, even if they are grayed out:
How to delete content you've downloaded from the iTunes Store, App Store, iBooks Store, or Mac App Store
http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5772
Mac or PC
Open iTunes.
From the Library pop-up menu, choose Music.
Click Songs in the navigation bar.
Click the song you want to delete.
Press Delete on your keyboard.
In iTunes 11 or later, the album cover art will remain visible, but a Download icon will appear on it to allow you to download the item again (in countries that support this).
Note: If you didn't purchase a song from the iTunes Store, you can't download it again for free from iTunes in the Cloud. You might want to back it up somewhere on your computer.
Then go back to your purchased history in the iTunes Store and download them again:
Download past purchases

Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.

• Is there a way to stop the OS from switching to a newly opened app? I would like to be able to continue what I'm doing while I wait for an app to launch and not get interrupted by a forced entry into the app.

Is there a way to stop the OS from switching to a newly opened app? I would like to be able to continue what I'm doing while I wait for an app to launch and not get interrupted by a forced entry into the app.
As an example, I'm going to my email in safari, while I wait for it to load, I open an excel document, and the OS decides excel should be the front app, so I go back to safari so I can enter my login info, but halfway through my password the OS decides that excel is where I should finish typing my password.
VERY ANNOYING. Can I open apps in the background?

Thank you everyone for the suggestions. J D, I'm not a terminal fan, but I'm sure it works. I found a solution that I can use in the dock from another post.
Annoyed by Mac OS
Works great and allows me to maximize those multitasking minutes.

• IOS6 and iphoto, iPad, Apple TV sync problem still unresolved. Turning on and off a few times have not helped. What should I do now? wait for an upgrade fix?

iOS6 and iphoto, iPad, Apple TV sync problem still unresolved. Turning on and off a few times per community advice have not helped. What should I do now? wait for an upgrade fix?
"&" is not the obvious bug/answer. Not sure what went wrong as I cannot select albums and events for sync. Situation is worse for iPad and Apple TV when error 1140 message popped up even before backup get completed.

Download and install the iPhoto 9.4.1 update, which was just released today. It may be the answer to your problems:
http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1598
Be sure that neither iTunes nor iPhoto is running when you install the iPhoto 9.4.1 update. After installing the update, then restart iTunes and iPhoto. By default, "All photos" is selected. Change this (it's no longer grayed out) to "Selected albums..." and you should be OK.

• Query "Stuck" in CXPacket wait with no other waits for that session id in the blocking session id of sys.dm_os_waiting_tasks

So I have a query that is running with a large number of CXPacket waits. There are no other tasks in the sys.dm_os_waiting_tasks that are blocking this session id with a wait other than CXPacket Wait. This is taking place on a SQL Server 2008
R2 machine. My question is there something else to look at? I've gone ahead and posted the output of the entire sys.dm_os_waiting_tasks. Any thoughts?

Hello,
First, I would take a look at what your MAXDOP setting is, that's seems a bit high unless you have around 80 processors - stick to multiples of the number of processors in a single numa node and don't go over half of the numa nodes if this is for an OLTP
system. If it's for a DSS or DW system then having a very high maxdop should be fine.
When dealing with CXPACKET the wait means that it's waiting for all of the parallel threads to complete before it can merge the results and move on. If any single thread has to process more than any other (or waits longer for data) the whole process has
to wait. I would investigate to see if there is a large skew in statistics and one thread is processing much more than another. I'd also try creating an extended events session to grab all of the waitinfo for that session.

Hi Flacaas,
Make sure your primary email address is verified by logging into http://appleid.apple.com with your main Apple ID email address.
When that's done, turn off iMessage, reboot your phone (or turn off and turn back on) and try activating iMessage
Hope this helps!

• What's the latest news on 'waiting for items to copy' sync problem?

This has been happening for several days. I usually sync every morning and head out of the house with new podcasts to listen to during my morning commute, but lately the sync gets stuck at the final step...6 of 6, or 7 of 7...'waiting for items to copy'. I have read a lot of the posts here and don't see a real solution. The first sync I did this morning had no contacts when I cancelled the sync after 2 hrs. Upon re-syncing at the office, contacts were back in, but it is still hanging at the final stage as I write....another 2 hrs into my day (almost noon now). Has anyone heard from Apple about a Fix? This seems widespread and accross all platforms, iOS, Windows, etc....I am going to guess that it will come in a few days once they find the exact glitch in the recent software updates (very unlike Apple).

Hi maasailand giraffe,
Welcome to the Support Communities!
First of all, thanks for the detailed notes of the troubleshooting steps you've already tried. It's hard to pinpoint exactly what is going on in your specific case, but I do have a few more ideas for you to try.
Starting with just one of your iPads, when you get stuck on the "waiting for items to copy" step, just disconnect your iPhone. There are probably some orphaned or corrupt files that need to be addressed. I would suggest closing all of your open apps and then backing your iPad up to iCloud. Then review the articles below to move or delete any big files on your device. These can include Voice Memos (iPhone), music, photos on your camera roll, photos or videos that are attached to your Messages, email attachments, etc.

How to delete content you've downloaded from the iTunes Store, App Store, iBooks Store, or Mac App Store

Remember that you can download any content you have purchased directly to your iPad.
Downloading past purchases from the iTunes Store, App Store, and iBooks Store

If you need to sync from iTunes, check your settings in the Summary tab to be sure you are only syncing items you have placed a checkmark in front of.
iOS: Syncing with iTunes

Give this a try on one of your iPads, and hopefully these steps will work for your other devices as well.
Cheers,
Judy

• Can i store my music on my device without using my data in my phone plan streaming from the cloud? How do i put what I want on there without waiting for each song to download from the cloud one at a time?

How can I store the music I listen to on my iphone without streaming it from the cloud and using all my data on my phone plans? How do I dump it on my phone all at once in itunes rather than waiting for each song to download individually from the cloud?

What?? You asked how to get all your music on your phone at once rather than downloading it to your phone from iCloud.
Go to your purchased list in iTunes and download all your music to your iTunes library, as explained in the linked article. Then sync it all to your phone using iTunes you're done. The music will be stored locally on your phone and you won't have to download it again in the future.

• Who are the people with lumia 620 waiting for up...

Eagerly waiting for windows 8.1 update on Lumia 620, black update is awesome, but after reading about the, features of 8.1, anxious about the update as quick as possible, esp the cortona, icons as per wish,

The wait should not be no longer now as the roll out is meant to happen in June itself and depending on the carrier, country and variants the update will come soon. Except for the Cortana specially in India you will be able to enjoy all the features Be Calm and enjoy the windows phone experience.

• Firefox 3.6.3 sending web email - waiting for 'site'. Works ok IE

Have created new profile, run firefox in safe mode. When I run in safe mode, first sent message goes ok, but subsequent ones hang with waiting for mail.bluebottle.com. Webmail works fine in IE 8

A possible cause is security software (firewall) that blocks or restricts Firefox without informing you about that, possibly after detecting changes (update) to the Firefox program.
Remove all rules for Firefox from the permissions list in the firewall and let your firewall ask again for permission to get full unrestricted access to internet for Firefox.

• Stuck on Access Anywhere set up with the wizzard waiting for the domain host to provide the Certificate.

In my setup wizard it is stuck on "wait while your domain certificate request is processed". I added the certificate in the certificate snap in under the computer. It seemed to take it fine. I assume that is the right place for it. Do I need to
do anything at GoDaddy to point the domain to the server? Or does go daddy know to point to the server on Azure from the certificate link? Thank you for any thoughts on how to finalize the Access Anywhere set up.
SLB

Hi,
Firstly, would you please tell me more information about your deployment?
What is the OS version of your Azure VM? Did you create a domain on the Azure VMs? What is the certificate for?
Best regards,
Susie

• Facebook has not been loading properly for me since Feb. 22/14. Can you please check what is wrong with Firefox. The web-site Facebook works fine on Safari.

I've had issues with Facebook not loading certain areas of the web-site correctly or fully since Feb. 22. When I first go onto Facebook I am on the home page "news feed". Thing is when I click on the tab at the bottom of the news feed that says "see more", nothing is happening. It refuses to open the feed up to older posts which friends or myself have posted. Only about 6 - 8 posts at the max show on that home feed. That's it.
My other issue, also in Facebook is when I go to access my "messages". First click on the tab "messages" brings up a white page. Then if I refresh the page to see if it will load, the messages page loads very weird. It shows the last message I may have replied to at the bottom of the screen, but over lapping on top of the list of previous messages to the left of the page. Plus the page appears extremely different than it should. Just like it's been re-formatted or whatever.
Since these 2 issues started on Saturday afternoon I've switched over to the Safari browser on my iMac. On that browser Facebook is performing properly, as it should be. It's not overlapping messages. Plus the home feed isn't refusing to extend for me so that I may view older stories or posts by friends. All appears fine while accessing Facebook on the Safari browser. Not so while on Firefox. I am running the most up to date version of Firefox. "27.0.1" Plus I have a habit to clear the browser's history daily & restarting the browser as well as my iMac. So I do not believe those are my problems. I feel there may be something you guys there at Firefox should look into on this.
Thank you for your time.

Hello,
'''Try Firefox Safe Mode''' to see if the problem goes away. [[Troubleshoot Firefox issues using Safe Mode|Firefox Safe Mode]] is a troubleshooting mode that turns off some settings and disables most add-ons (extensions and themes).
''(If you're using an added theme, switch to the Default theme.)''
If Firefox is open, you can restart in Firefox Safe Mode from the Help menu by clicking on the '''Restart with Add-ons Disabled...''' menu item:

If Firefox is not running, you can start Firefox in Safe Mode as follows:
* On Windows: Hold the '''Shift''' key when you open the Firefox desktop or Start menu shortcut.
* On Mac: Hold the '''option''' key while starting Firefox.
* On Linux: Quit Firefox, go to your Terminal and run ''firefox -safe-mode''
(you may need to specify the Firefox installation path e.g. /usr/lib/firefox)
''Once you get the pop-up, just select "'Start in Safe Mode"''
'''''If the issue is not present in Firefox Safe Mode''''', your problem is probably caused by an extension, and you need to figure out which one. Please follow the [[Troubleshoot extensions, themes and hardware acceleration issues to solve common Firefox problems]] article to find the cause.
''To exit Firefox Safe Mode, just close Firefox and wait a few seconds before opening Firefox for normal use again.''
When you figure out what's causing your issues, please let us know. It might help others with the same problem.
Thank you.
